Littlefoot led Yewkit out of the nursery, glancing around with anxious green eyes. Yewkit danced around her legs happily. "Can I go play, mum?" Littlefoot licked her ear absently and replied, "It looks safe. I'll be over by the freshkill pile. Have you seen Mottledkit lately?" Yewkit looked up at her mother. "No. I wonder what happened?" Littlefoot said nothing, having heard the rumours that each of the other clans had lost a kit. Was it a fox? She shuddered. Mottledkit was too fast. But, then, she was just regaining her eyesight. "I'm sure she'll turn up."
Yewkit trotted over to Dovekit. A cloud passed above her and over the sun, casing shadows on the camp, but she didn't notice. "Hi, Dovekit. Have you seen Mottledkit anywhere?" Her ginger pelt was fluffed up, the air was cooler outside than in the nursery. She blinked slowly, awaiting his reply. OOC: Littlefoot can take him in. Two of her kits were stillborn, and she took Mottledkit in. Might as well take him in, right? If you want, just post as if they were brother and sister for a while instead of Littlefoot just now took him in. Okay?

Sunheart yawned and stepped out of the warrior's den, bright ginger pelt gleaming. The young warrior saw Yewkit and Dovekit outside so she padded to them. "Hello there, Yewkit, Dovekit," the Rex she-cat said brightly. The small warrior waved her paws in greeting to the tomkit and she-kit before licking them both on the ear. The warrior sat down by them.

Yewkit giggled when Sunheart licked her ear. "Hey, that tickles!" She had to blink at Sunheart's firey pelt before she could speak again. "Have you seen Mottledkit?" She asked. She was worried now. What could have happened to her 'sister'?

Sunheart shook her head. "No, I haven't, Yewkit, but I'm sure Starclan is watching her," the warrior said with a smile, remembering her and Spicetalon's conversation about the kits missing from each of the Clans. She glanced at Dovekit cheerily. "Are you and Yewkit having fun playing? I'm sure you'll become strong warriors like Amethyststar some day."

Two eyes, shadowed with jealousy, were fixed on Littlefoot and Yewkit. She was so lucky, he reflected, to have a mother who truly cared for him. Amethyststar was nothing to him now. He had tried, tried to ignore the expressionless looks his mother shot him that should have been filled with love and pride, he had tried not to notice that she never seemed to notice him. He had tried not to let the dreadful fact hurt him; the fact that his mother felt nothing for him. He still could not shake the feeling that Amethyststar had killed Selenekit. He still missed his lost sister desperately and his own aloof attitude made it almost impossible for him to make friends. As it was, the little black tom had grown all the more soiltary, turning him only more cold inside. Sullenly, he watched the others. He was noticeable against the gloom of the nursery, but only with the one doing the seeing was looking hard enough.

A lithe but strong tom padded up to the kit. "Hey there little guy," He meowed to Amethyststar's child.
"Tell them not to worry about Mottledkit, my love, for the kits are okay. We watch them always," A voice seemed to whisper across the breeze, and a faint grey outline of a tom stood beside Sunheart.

((Fireh, I'm thinking about throwing the whole "Sunheart = queen" thing out the window until later. It's just been too confusing. Sorry ^^; ))
Sunheart smelled Corbynkit and she looked around, finally spotting two gleaming eyes. Bidding Yewkit and Dovekit farewell for the moment, she silently padded over to the fresh-kill pile. "Finally, some food?" the young warrior meowed hungrily before coming back. She licked Corbynkit on the ears before going over to Dovekit.

Yewkit bounded over to Corbynkit happily, not knowing she wasn't helping his sardonic outlook. "Hey! Have you seen Mottledkit?" She had gotten used to the colder air, and she arched her back playfully.
Littlefoot watched at a distance, trying not to say anything. Would Mottledkit ever come back? But she regarded Sunheart's words carefully, and settled on that the sharp calico would be taken care of in the paws of StarClan. She blinked slowly and began grooming her fur. "She'll be fine. Although, if I weren't staying in the nursery with you, I'd look for her."

Littlefoot noticed Dovekit slip away despondently, and as he passed her, she stuck out a paw to grab him and pull him to her. "Where'dyou think you're going, Dovekit? You need a bath, I think." Her green eyes glinted as she washed the kit with care, knowing he was just as fragile as he looked.

"I'll ask, Dovekit," Sunheart said congenially with a small smile. "I'm a young warrior myself, but I'll ask her if I can take on an apprentice. Amethyststar hasn't been feeling well lately, but I'll check on it for you." She licked her fiery pelt and nuzzled her pushed-in nose in it to scratch it. She blinked ochre eyes and glanced down kindly at Dovekit. "Would you like to be my apprentice? I won't ask if you don't like the idea or have asked someone else..." The small warrior licked him on the ear comfortingly.

"Why do you lock your feelings within yourself?" Sunheart asked boldly, appearing behind the kit in silence. The small warrior's eyebrows raised questionally. Her small paw touched Dovekit's on the shoulder, trying to figure him out. "Why are you sad inside, hateful inside, lonely inside?"

Littlefoot had been about to answer the tomkit, but before she did, Sunheart spoke. She shot the warrior a thankful look. She knew Dovekit was upset, but she felt a maternal responsibility for him. She followed Sunheart towards Dovekit, who was now sitting in the middle of the clearing and looking distant. She wanted to tell him I care, I do, because you don't have any parents. I know you need what I can give you, why won't you accept it? But instead he glanced at him and altered her path to end up by Yewkit and Corbynkit.

Sunheart's eyes rose disapprovingly and she put her hand on Dovekit's wailing maw. "Stop crying," the warrior said. "Crying like you're doing only makes noise." She then put her paw on the tomkit's head. "You say you feel alone, yet you have done nothing to not be alone. Make friends. I'm your friend, Dovekit, and EclipseClan is your family." The ginger-pelted Rex tabby smiled.

Sunheart wiped off Dovekit's face with her tongue and sheathed paw. "Well...you can trust me. I'll never turn my back on you, you can believe that. I'll be your best friend. You can watch what I do. I'm not very pretty, but I always have a smile on my face. That's what counts. You have to work around the bad things in your life when you can't change them," she told him gently. The she-cat purred and pressed her body against him like a queen.

Sunheart smiled cheerily. "Do you want to play with Yewkit? She's very lonely since Mottledkit ran away...," she said softly, nuzzling Dovekit back. She felt like a young queen to the tomkit as she licked the top of his head gently.

Yewkit heard her name called and spun back around, leaving Corbynkit, who hadn't responded, and bouncing over to Dovekit. She smiled at him, and the sun came out from behind the cloud and lit up the camp. "You wanna play? You can be the leader!" She grinned at him and arched her back playfully.
Littlefoot sighed exsasperatedly and lay down again, since she was sure she could never keep up with her rambunctious kit. She smiled when she saw how happy her daughter was, and how quickly she seemed to get over Mottledkit's disappearance.

Sunheart laughed at Yewkit's enthusiasm. "Sure, Yewkit. Dovekit, you'll be Dovestar. Yewkit, what do you want your warrior name to be?" the small warrior she-cat asked. "Yewstripe, or maybe Yewheart like me, or Yewflower. Or do you want it to be a fierce name like Yewscar or Yewclaws!" Sunheart bent playfully, wagging her flank.

Yewkit looked thoughtful for a while, then made a sudden descision. With a completely serious face (which looked completely ridiculous on her fluffly, kit-like body), she said "Yewbranch, like my mamma's mamma. I wanna be just like her, I've heard so much.." She looked over at her mother, who grinned proudly back.

"Okay!" Sunheart said happily and then gained a look of distress. "Oh no, Dovestar, Yewbranch is picking on me!" The warrior screwed up her face as if she was Sunkit again and began to fake-cry. "Help! Help!" She couldn't keep on the charade anymore and burst out laughing.

Yewkit grinned at him. "I'll be leader, you can be my deputy!" she said happily, and sat with a regal look on her face. "All cats of- er- PlantClan gather for a Clan meeting!" She giggled quietly. She stared at Sunheart, and smiled. Littlefoot's green eyes watched her daughter happily. Maybe one day, she really would be Yewstar.

"Yewstar, Dovetune," Sunheart called out, over-exaggerating her salute. "I found badger tracks on the border. We should go check them out." The warrior did her best to look serious and fierce. She whispered to Yewkit, "I'll be the badger." She returned to normal stance. "What do you want for me to do, Yewstar?" Sunheart asked calmly.

Yewkit gasped mockingly. "Badger tracks? That's not good, lets go!" She nodded at Sunheart and at her 'deputy'. When Sunheart whispered the plan in her ear, she nodded again. She looked at the ground, pretending she saw big, smelly badger prints in the dust. She wrinkled her nose, and said, "Look, Dovetune! Badger tracks!" She pointed with her tail and tried not to giggle. Littlefoot looked on, also trying not to laugh out loud. Sunheart was acting as if she were a kit again, too. She smiled and lay her head on her paws, growing drowsy in the afternoon heat.

Sunheart bounded around the nursery and medicine cat den, fake-growling as she lumbered out like a badger. "Who dare comes upon meeee?" the she-cat growled in a overly-deep voice. "I am a great badger!" She slammed her sheathed claws on the ground "threateningly", letting out an maniacal laugh. "I eat leaders and deputies for breakfast!" Sunheart the badger charged towards Dove'tune' and Yew'star', yodelling. She playfully headbutted both kits and batted the ground beside their paws.

Yewkit giggled and chased the 'badger's tail mockingly. "My deputy speaks the truth!" She mewed. She grappled with the ginger cat's tail and batted at it with sheathed paws. When Sunheart's tail twitched and she rolled in the dust, she leaped up and let out a play yowl. " You have angered StarClan!" She said, and attempted feebly at tripping Sunheart, still giggling quietly.[/sub]

Sunheart meowed and bucked around gently, acting like a horse. "You won't stay there for long, cat!" she hissed, slowly rolling over at Yewstar's trip. She dislodged Dovetune however and kept rolling. "Oh no!" she fake-moaned in terror at the mighty deputy. "Spare my life, please! My injuries are great. I cannot fight back!"

Yewkit let Dovekit finish the scary 'badger' off and just stood and hissed, her eyes sparkling with laughter and her fur puffed up in fake 'defense'. They had vanquished the mighty 'badger'!"Great job, Dovetune," She mewed gruffly, trying to pretend she was a leader complementing her deputy. "The Clan will tell stories of this for generations to come." Then she couldn't take it anymore, and burst out into uncontrollable laughter, rolling around in the dust.

Sunheart 'moaned' in fear and hastily ran around the nursery to appear behind the two kits again. The she-cat warrior was laughing happily with the two. "Great job, Yewstar, Dovetune. I saw you fight off that mean badger," she praised, nuzzling both kits. "You both will be great warriors someday, I know it. I can't wait until you two are apprentices." She licked Yewkit's and Dovekit's noses and smiled. "I'm going to go get some fresh-kill for Littlefoot, okay? Do you too want to follow if Littlefoot says it's all right?"

Yewkit purred back. "Of course!" She replied to Dovekit, her eyes sparkling. From afar, Littlefoot watched gaurdedly. Oh, just look at them. Little seeds of romance blossoming everywhere.. She smiled. Yewkit looked exitedly at her mum when Sunheart mentioned fresh-kill, but Littlefoot only shook her head smilingly. "You've gotten all dusty- you need a bath.'' Yewkit groaned and rolled her eyes at Dovekit, but padded obidiently to her mother and lay beside her. "Thank you, Sunheart." Littlefoot said, before she began cleaning the little ginger kit who squirmed in her grip.

Sunheart laughed at Yewkit's reaction. "Mother knows best, Yewkit. You better listen to her. Littlefoot is your kit mentor until you become an apprentice," she grinned and then looked up at Littlefoot. "I'm going to take Dovekit then if he wants. He'll pick out something for you," she added to the other she-cat.
