The sun was beginning to sink in the sky. Streaks of scarlet were sliding across the pale, peachy sky. A cat trotted steadily over the rough grass, her tail low and ears flattened. Tawnysky's creamy brown and white coat was bristling. She was uncomfortable with travelling through SerenityClan territory, but she had to see Eaglecry. Jealousy still bubbled in her chest like lava. She couldn't believe Dewstep had expected her to leap up and start babbling about her kits. Tawnysky snorted, her paws thrumming the earth. Well, her sister was sadly mistaken. She was welcome to her kits and her mate. Tawnysky had her own friends. Well. Friend.

Eaglecry was the only one who truly understood her. He thought like her, spoke like her, acted like her. They were like siblings who were seperated at birth. And, if she was utterly honest with herself, Tawnysky had not stopped thinking about him since their first meeting. Her heart gave a pleasurable thump as his image filled her mind. The CloudClan warrior exhaled in relief as she slipped out of SerenityClan territory and into the neutral grounds. She then sat down and waited for Eaglecry.

The trip had been quick, and Eaglecry was just slipping through to the neutral grounds when Tawnsky's scent came to him. A smile quickly appeared, and ears flicked forward. Striding forward through the grass, his spotted and striped coat brushing ever so slightly on the blades as he walked. He couldn't stop thinking about the she-cat ever since he left her. She was like a disease, plauging his mind. Stopping in mid-stride, he gazed to where Tawnysky sat, and smiled. "Well, about time I found you," came his smooth voice, as he stepped into view. Tail swayed, as he walked over to the CloudClan warrior, and placed his nose against her shoulder gently. "I thought you were caught up by a patrol or something."

Settling himself down beside Tawnysky, Eaglecry's golden eyes stared at her, ears tilted forward. He had so many emotions running through him, he was surprised he could sit so still. His tail tip flicked, as a mouse ran past, taunting the two cats.

Her eyes, green as holly leaves, widened as she spotted the newly familiar tan and cream spotted coat of Eaglecry. The she-cat stretched her heah up, her fluffy, creamy white throat exposed. She purred as he touched his nose to her shoulder, and licked his ear in return. "Me? Held up by a patrol?" she snorted slightly, flicking Eaglecry's chest with her tail. A shiver of emotion ran through her like a fish darting down a river. She swallowed, her tail trembling. This was so exciting. She didn't care that it was against the warrior code. Stuff the rules, she thought, eyes glimmering with happiness.

"I thought you'd forgotten about me," she mewed. "I thought you wouldn't come.. I mean, with the warrior code and everything..." Tawnysky scraped at the grass with her forepaws, embarrased. She knew that she would have been upset if Eaglecry had not turned up. She felt as if she had known him for moons, longer than any of her clanmates, longer even than her littermate, Dewstep.

A laugh gurgled in the tom's throat. "The warrior code can be set aside, dear. I really do not care about it right now." His voice held his confidence, but didn't hide the happiness he felt just by being here with the she-cat. "And I can not stop thinking about you. So it would be very hard to forget you." He smirked, and let his tail flick onto her side. "What have you been up to, since the last time we saw each other?" Head turned, having heard a rustle in the grass nearby. Fear crept into his body, but subsided as the noise didn't happen again. He didn't really believe anyone followed him from MoonClan, but he just as wary.

Tawnysky grinned at his words about the warrior code. She was glad that, yet again, he had the same views as her. Besides, her last thought at the moment was the warrior code. CloudClan was fading in her mind. Oleandergaze, Cormorantfeather, Dewstep... All fading away as she looked into Eaglecry's eyes. She positively beamed as he said that he had not stopped thinking about her. "Same here," she mewed, her voice thick with emotion. "I can't stop thinking about you..." Tawnysky blinked at Eaglecry at his next question. "The battling cats have returned," she mewed, her voice a little disinterested. "And... And Dewstep is expecting kits." Her voice was flat and emotionless as she said this, and her eyes flashed with the air of admitting something unpleasent.

Ears flicked at her tone about Dewstep's pregnancy. He touched his nose to her shoulder, and sighed. "I take it you do not like that," he asked softly, his golden eyes saddened by how quickly her mood had changed. "Tawnysky, don't fret about it. You will have kits of your own some day." He smiled his famous smile, and shuffled his paws in the grass, making it rustle slightly. His eyes went up to the sky, wondering what is sister, Fallendove, was doing. He sighed, shaking his head slightly. "So, are we just going to sit here all day? There has to be something you want to do, dear." He smirked, and stood up, shaking out his coat. Tail swaying behind him, golden eyes scanned around, scenting the air. He didn't catch anything upon the wind, not a prey scent, or any cats. Confused, he turned around, facing the opposite direction.

Tawnysky kept her eyes down, embarrased that her friend had so easily sensed her disquiet. She wasnm't exactly sure why she was so against her sister having kits. She hated kits, didn't she? She had always thought so. They were so irritating. But suddenly thoughts leapt through her mind like a frog leaping from lily pad to lily pad. She imagined her own kits, three of them. One looking like her mother, one like Cormorantfeather, and one... One likr Eaglecry. Tawnysky blinked, and the image dissolved. She shook her head as though trying to come back to her senses. "I know I shouldn't be jealous, but..." She trailed off and leant against Eaglecry, green eyes sad.

After a moment she lifted her head, nodding to the tom's words. Now that she was here, she wasn't sure what she had wanted to do. She had only ever really wanted to see Eaglecry. The CloudClan she-cat tasted the air, but no prey scent tinged the breeze. "We could always..." Childish playfulness suddenly filled her, and she leapt forward, prodding the tom's striped flank with her paw. "Play tag!" She then ran off, smiling broadly.

Looking at Tawnysky, he smiled softly. She was beautiful. One of the most beautiful cats he had ever seen in his life. Tail swayed as he watched her dart off, and he shook his head. "You are terrible, Tawnysky!" He went after her, tail swaying in the air behind him. It felt good to run here, after the she-cat, when no one was looking. Not having to worry about the warrior code. He paused suddenly, his ears flicking toward the grasses nearby. Something had moved within it, catching his attention. Ears tilted back, as he stalked forward, glancing over at Tawnysky then back to where the movement was. A blur of light brown flashed through the grass, a rabbit bounding off quickly. Eaglecry ran after it, his strides long, then jumped upon the creature's back, teeth going instantly to the animal's neck. The rabbit died instantly, and Eaglecry backed off, the rabbit lying still on the ground.

"Tawnysky! You hungry," he called, tail swaying behind his body as he turned to where he had last seen the she-cat. Paws kneaded the ground, standing in front of the dead rabbit. He shook his coat out, then plopped himself down onto his rear, his tail curling around his forepaws while he waited for his friend.

The breeze was faintly warm as it raked through Tawnysky's short, patched pelt. The young she-cat's paws pounded the earth, her tail streaming out behind her. She hadn't enjoyed herself this much since her mother's death. She glanced over her shoulder, green eyes bright, to see Eaglecry loping after her. With a great mew of excitement, she tried to run faster. She didn't even notice her injuries twinging; she was having too much fun. The she-cat skidded to a halt, slipping behind a large thorn bush, as she heard Eaglecry calling her. Was he trying to trick her...?

The warm, delicious scent of fresh caught rabbit wafted to her from behind. She drank it in appreciatively, then padded out of her hiding place. The she-cat trotted back to Eaglecry, touching noses with him in thanks. "Thanks," she mewed, breathless.

The tom nodded, and his skin flared with heat underneath his fur. "It is no problem, dear," he said softly, breathing in her scent. It drove his mind crazy. He ran his nose along her cheek, and then turned. "You can take the first bite, love." He paused. He had just called her love. Tail swayed, and he stood stock still, wondering what she would say to that. He sat down next to the rabbit, wrapping his tail around his paws once more, waiting for her to eat. Ears tilted back, wondering if she could feel his embarassment.

The she-cat smiled at Eaglecry. He could have been one of her own clan, the way she looked at him. One might even assume that they were more than friends. Tawnysky froze, her neck craned forward in the act of being about to take a bite. A flash of emotion shimmered through her eyes. He'd called her love. She expected to feel anger and irritation, but none of that came. Only a hot, smothering feeling of embarrasment and something else... Nothing she had never felt before.

"Thanks, love," she mewed. Her green eyes glittered with amusement, but the unknown emotion still shined behind this humour. Tawnysky then dipped her head and took a bite of the fresh kill. The meat tasted delicious on her tongue, and distracted her from the awkward moment.

Paws shuffled the ground in embarassment, as she called him love. That was what he felt when he looked at the she-cat. But, he didn't want to rush anything with Tawnysky. He looked away from her, toward SerenityClan, and exhaled. Ears flicked forward, as golden eyes concentrated on the trees in the distance. Would she even believe him if he told her that he had feelings for her? He highly doubted it, and this caused frustration to build within him. Tail tip twitched slightly, as his golden eyes went back to his friend. "Tawnysky. I have something to ask you..." Eaglecry began, but his words were cut off instantly. He didn't know how to say anything he had on his mind, and he was afraid that she would just laugh at him.

His gaze went to his paws, as his embarassment flared inside him even more.

Tawnysky concentrated on eating until her stomach was full. She then straightened up, licking the gore from her meal off her muzzle. She then looked at Eaglecry for a moment, before looking away, embarrased. Words were jumping on the tip of her tongue. Should she release them? Or would she regret them? She usually had no problem with expressing exactly what she felt. Tawnysky shuffled her paws, then began to speak. "Eaglecry, I-" She stopped when she realised he had started to speak at the exact same moment.

Tawnysky trembled. The emotions raged inside her heart. To ask her? He had something to ask her? "Ask away," she tried to keep her voice calm, but it still jumped and shook uncontrollably.

Kneading his paws, Eaglecry took a deep breath. That is all it took, before his words came spilling out of his mouth. "I really like you, Tawnysky. And I need to know if you like me back that way or not. See, I don't know how to go about saying this, and if I say something totally wrong, just tell me, okay? I have never experienced this feeling ... ever," his words were such a jumbled mess, it would be a miracle if she actually understood what he had said. He held his breath, wondering if she thought he was a total mouse brain for even saying something of the sort. But it was how he was feeling; those little butterflies swooping around in his stomach, causing him to be extra jittery, he couldn't breathe around her, she took his breath away.

Wow, that didn't sound corny to him at all. He shook his head slightly, and looked at his paws, his golden eyes shimmering in embarassment. Tail tip twitched, as anxiety swept over him. Skin heated up underneath his tawny colored coat, and he breathed slowly, trying to calm the nerves within his whole body.

Tawnysky looked steadily at Eaglecry as his words spilled from his mouth in a jumbled mess. Her feelings swelled in her chest like a great bubble. She tried to swallow them and listen, but her blood was roaring in her ears. She know identified the odd feeling in her heart. She quivered. This was so dangerous, it couldn't be right, could it? They could get caught any time, it couldn't be what StarClan wanted, it just couldn't...

Tawnysky quite suddenly realised that she didn't care what StarClan thought. This was her life. And she was just making excuses. As Eaglecry silenced, Tawnysky rose to her paws. For a split-second it seemed she might bolt, but then she ducked beneath the tom's chin and licked his neck, purring. "I don't care what they say," she mewed softly. "I don't even care if they see us. I... I really like you, too, Eaglecry." Tawnysky didn't want to move. She felt so at ease, pressed against Eaglecry's chest. She could feel his heart thudding against her skin, a gentle rythym that was already part of her.

Frozen in what seemed like shock, Eaglecry watched her. Was she really going to leave after there? But when she settled herself against him, he let loose a soft purr, and smiled. "Glad to know I'm not a fool then," he said, his voice as soft as newleaf grass. Tail swayed across the ground, as he ran his own tongue over her head. Joy and excitement swelled in his chest, and he exhaled finally. "We have to keep ourselves a secret though. No one can know," he continued to rasp his tongue over her head, his purr rumbling in his chest.

He feel content just sitting here with Tawnysky. He didn't want to leave. But they both had to get back to their Clans soon enough, or cats may start wondering where they were. "Tawnysky, you better head back. Its going to be dark soon, and your Clan may start to wonder. And make sure you roll into something to cover up my scent." He stood up, his heart beginning to ache as he didn't want to pry himself away from the she-cat.

Tawnysky shut her eyes as Eaglecry began to lick her between the ears. It felt comfortingly, and reminded her of her mother. She leant against him, her smaller frame fitting easily beneath his chin. The she-cat felt her heart leapt as he spoke again. Us. It seemed to have all changed. She had somebody to love, just like Dewstep loved Oleandergaze. She didn't have to be envious anymore.

She drew away from him reluctantly, nodding at Eaglecry's words. She didn't want to leave him, but she knew he was right. She didn't want to be missed. Tawnysky brushed muzzles with the MoonClan tom, before touching noses with him. "Bye," she murmured, her tail twitching behind her. The CloudClan she-cat began to walk back into the foliage. Before her paws hit the fallen leaves, she glanced over her shoulder. "I'll be here again, tomorrow, if you can come." The she-cat's green eyes locked with his golden pair. Eventually she tore them away and padded into the shade of the trees.

Eaglecry smiled at the she-cat, and nodded. "Wouldn't dare miss a chance to spend time with you," he said, and watched as he disappeared out of sight. He turned, disappearing into the grasses nearby, making his way back to MoonClan. Things had changed so drastically, he was surprised with himself. He loved someone, despite never believing he would. And, it was just like Fallendove had. Wait a tick. He paused, his ears flicked back. He was just like his older sister in almost every aspect. He glanced over his shoulder, back to where him and Tawnsky had been, then shook his head. He sighed, and continued on his way back to MoonClan, making sure not to get caught.
