She's an extraordinary girl,
In an ordinary world,
And she can't seem to get away
He lacks the courage in his mind,
Like a child left behind,
Like a pet left in the rain
Shakenleaf ambled idly into his leader's den, his luminous eyes searching the den with no idea what they were looking for. He let her warm, farmiliar, sweet scent envelop him, making him sigh. The den was warm and dry, although it was now pouring outside. It was as if StarClan were angry with them for the EclipseClan border skirmish. He blinked back angry tears. This was the worst situation he'd been in in his life.
She's all alone again,
Wiping the tears from her eyes
Somedays he feels like dying,
She gets so sick of crying
She sees the mirror of herself,
An image she wants to sell,
To anyone willing to buy
Of course, the dull black tom was awfullizing the situation. Highfrost and he had had a fight. They'd never been close, surely, but they uncovered a rift in the Clan that had never been there before. And Shakenleaf felt a dying sink in his heart that told him it was all his fault. MoonClan was falling apart.
It had been fine before he'd loved Firestar. Before he'd told her, before she'd loved him back. Deep down, he knew he was wrong to continue their relationship. Sure, he loved her. With all of his heart, he did, and he would die for her. But the Clan could not sustain this. He shuffled his paws restlessly, knowing what he had to do but reufsing to do it.
He steals the image in her kiss,
From her hearts apocalypse,
From the one called whatsername
She's all alone again,
Wiping the tears from her eyes
A voice whispered in his mind, unwelcome and violating his space. Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same; it said, playing with his thoughts. Let her go.
Never! He almost hissed. Then a flash of lightning lit up the den, and a rich, long, deep rumble of thunder sounded, sending a shiver up Shakenleaf's spine. StarClan was telling him to do this, but he couldn't. He just-- couldn't.
Somedays he feels like dying
She gets so sick of crying
She's all alone again,
Wiping the tears from her eyes
He stared out of the den and up into the dark, clouded sky, piling cold, harsh rain onto his Clan. The clan that he lived for. He let a single tear fall unguided from his black furred face, splattering forlornly onto the bed of the den. He had to do this. He had to. Becuase he loved her, he would have to let her go. Overwhelming sadness enveloped his strong body, and he waited ruefully for the pretty ginger she-cat to arrive.
Somedays he feels like dying
Somedays it's not worth trying,
Now that they both are finding,
She gets so sick of crying
In an ordinary world,
And she can't seem to get away
He lacks the courage in his mind,
Like a child left behind,
Like a pet left in the rain

You never know what's wrong without the pain;
Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same..
