“So what now...?”
Dusk had finally put the two-leg place behind her, hopefully in more ways then one. At the moment, she was on her back, rolling and stretching in a patch of particularly sweet-scented grass in an effort to get the horrid smell out of her coat, quite relishing the fresh new morning. Viewing the topsy-turvy world framed by wet green blades, she wondered just where to start her search for the fabled clan cats.
Of course, she knew they lived in the forest. That much was obvious, sure, but the forest was so vast and some of the places were so incredibly thick... she wished her teacher was still alive to set her on the right path.
The chill of the morning dew began to penetrate her thick undercoat and her skin prickled a bit at the cold creeping into its warmth. Grunting quietly as she stood up, she took a few steps forward then shook the length of her body. Speculating on where the cats would be only took up precious time and the longer she took to find them, the longer it would take to join them and learn more about them.
There had to be someplace to find another cat who knew more than she about the subject. A gathering place... a drinking place... a resting place. Maybe just at the top of the hill here... yes, there it was. A large rock sitting rather proudly just some yards off. Perhaps it wasn’t exactly what she had in mind, but the scent of other cats lingered here and at the very least, it would provide a high vantage point that might aid in spotting someone out.
Swift legwork and a few bounds brought her to her target. A single leap and a few more steps brought her to the stone's apex where she sat neatly, curled tail covering her forepaws, and watched, waiting for someone to show up. Young minds wander though, and hers was fond of doing just that. It wasn't long before she was cloud-watching, making shapes of the early whites and blues and yellows of the sky as she listened to her vocals hum a lullaby sweetly and quietly to their owner. Dusk

spectre Spectre sat at the foot of the Sabretooth Rock, her snowy frame outlined against the harsh stone. The small she-cat's ice blue eyes were peering upwards. She still wondered, sometimes, whether Inkkit and Maykit still looked down on her from these skies. She had travelled a long way... Spectre lifted a slim white paw and licked it, thinking about Wolfpaw. The young loner had left her care about a moon ago now. She couldn't help worrying about him. He couldn't have been more than six or seven moons old. He wasn't ready to look after himself yet. And besides that, Spectre was lonely. She hadn't seen Cursico and Muffin in moons, and was beginning to wonder if something had happened to the two of them. As if to answer her prayers, a new scent drifted towards her on the breeze. It was not a bad scent, like Vampire and his brood. No, it was a purer scent. Spectre got to her paws to investigate, when a small cat bounded out of the bracken and leapt atop the rock.
Spectre took a few steps back, her ice blue eyes slightly narrowed against the glare of the sun. "Hey, you alright?" she called. The odd accent that had stained her voice when she had lived in the icelands was still there. She did not notice it, but other cats usually did. Spectre extended a paw to show the younger cat she was a friend. "I'm Spectre. Are you new around these parts?"

Ears swiveled toward the sound and took the flavored words into mind where they could be processed. No hint of violence or malice lent itself to allow for less than a second more of cloud gazing before the kit’s head turned to the one who spoke. Her face brightened at the sight of another cat, whiskers spread and pushed forward with curiosity. Here was precisely what she was looking for! A purr rose in her throat as she sank to the ground to sit nearer to the stranger.
The purr that still motored through her throat gave a rattle to her voice, “M’all right! New? Here? Yes, came from the edge of the two-legger place over that way.” She motioned with a gentle toss of her head toward the correct direction.
Silver eyes took in what they could of the older female and from what they gathered, she found she rather liked her. Her voice was kind enough, and Dusk found voices often told a good deal about an individual. The question she was impatient to have answered waited behind the bars of her teeth. Memories of the lessons about respect and manners she was taught reined her tongue and instilled inhibitions. Ah yes, manners, she had forgotten something.
“I’m Dusk, pleased to meet you."

spectre Spectre smiled as the younger cat leapt down to stand before her. This cat wasn't far out of her kittenhood. Spectre wondered why she was alone. Oh, that answered the question. So, was this cat an alley cat, living off scraps from twoleg bins? No, she didn't look like an alley cat. They had ragged fur, and all their bones showed through their coats. No, this cat must have been a kittypet, and run away. Spectre shrugged mentally. It didn't bother her where a cat came from. It was the cat inside that counted. "Pretty nice t'meet you, too," she smiled, her ice blue eyes friendly. "So, did you run away from your twolegs?" Spectre sat down, her tail curled neatly around her back and forepaws. She spoke politely, but not in a way that deflected friendship. The she-cat blinked at Dusk. She was lucky she had not been found by Vampire or Chaosfire. They had been prowling around here a lot recently, looking for a few poor cats to force into recruitment. Spectre had watched them from her cave, praying Wolfpaw, Cursico and Muffin had not been caught in a simlar way.

“Am no kittypet, Missus.” Her brow set as soon as the mention of the word was spilled. “Ne’er have been and ne’er will be. Am nothin’ but two-leg trash to ‘em no good creatures!” Her words lost many of their syllables in her sudden fit of frustration and anger. What she was to those two-leggers was not even comparable to the carpet they walked on! Her mind was in a flurry and her mood took a turn for the worst. Her previous purr saturated into a foul growl as her head sank and her ears flattened. Standing, she prowled toward the foot of the rock and hunkered against it into a small ball of color. While her tail had taken its usual place tightly around her feet, its tip was tapping methodically against the grass. The sweet dew of the morning had lost its flavor to her and now, all she cared to do was brood. Dusk

spectre Spectre leapt backwards, tail flying upright, as anger flew across Dusk's face. She half expected the younger cat to leap at her, claws out. She wasn't sure what she had said, until the she-cat spoke. Spectre flattened her ears in apology. "Sorry. Didn't mean to offend you." The she-cat blinked at Dusk for a moment. She wondered why she despised twolegs so much. Spectre didn't much like them, because of her deep-rooted beliefs from her former clan life, and because of their noise and stench... But she didn't hate them. Not like this cat. Spectre decided not to mention them again, and tactfully changed the subject. "Have you got a place to sleep?" she asked tentatively. "It's not safe t'be sleeping under the stars out here. It's dangerous, y'see." Spectre lifted a slim white paw and rubbed behind her ear, her ice blue eyes deadly serious.

The rage she felt subsided as quickly as it came once the topic changed. A few licks to smooth down a patch of fur on her chest finalized the disappearance of her anger and allowed her a moment to set her thoughts straight. “Nope, haven’t a place to sleep,” she said as she sat up and placed her back against the stone. “I was lookin’ for someone, er one group of the someone’s anyway. Don’t know where to find ’em though, might be some time until I do.” She lifted to her hind paws and licked just above her stomach while the stone supported her weight. Maybe the offhand statement would lead to the eventual revealance of the answer she sought and she could be on her way again.
Once she finished her quick relaxation bath, the fullness of what the other said hit her completely. Her paws touched the ground and, looking at the other, she tilted her head. “What’s so bad about an open canopy?” She’d only spent one night in this area without her mentor and from what she’d seen it was a fairly peaceful place. Strange scents had come to her in the night on gentle breezes, but there was nothing that held any tone of urgency. Had she only been lucky? The ominous sense of danger filled her with butterflies of excitement that caused her hind legs to pad the earth and her tail to lash between her side and the rock.

// Sorry, I completely forgot about this thread. x___x' Sorry. spectre The white she-cat blinked, trying to unravel the confused mass of words that was spilling from the younger cat's mouth. She wasw looking for a group of cats around here? There weren't very many cat groups here. Apart from the five clans. The rest of the cats around here were loners, rogues, travellers or curious kittypets. Spectre narrowed her eyes. Was Dusk looking to join a clan...? Did she know how much choice she'd have here? "There's some cat's around here," she mewed at the other cat's question. "And they... Well, put it this way, they're not very nice." She nodded in the direction of Blood Cave. She wasn't sure what, but something had happened there, recently. Something big. And Spectre was sure that whatever it was, it spelt trouble. The she-cat shook herself. "So what, you're looking for a clan?"
