A brown streak flew across the forest floor, followed by a larger grey streak. The grey cat flung himself after the panicing rabbit, picking up speed. The tom launched himself forwards, his claws unsheathed, and paws outstretched. The cat came down on the helpless rabbit, ending it's life quickly with a snap of his teeth.
Spindlespider stood back from his prey, panting slightly, but triumphant. He then proceeded to calmly bury the rabbit for later. He then trembled excitedly and shot up the nearest tree, hopping around in the branches for a few moments, before flinging himself at a bird that had left the tree in a flurry of panic. His claws dug into it's small body, dragging it down to earth with him. The cat and the bird hit the ground with a soft thump. Luckily, the branch the foolish cat had leapt from was not a high one. Spindlespider got to his paws, shaking his head, and giggling, before burying the unfortunate bird next to the rabbit.
He hadn't been that crazy for a while now, and it felt good.
He was fully alive.

wovenknot The sky was obscured by thick patches of pale grey cloud, casting a gloomy light on the day. The deputy of MoonClan padded beneath the outstretched branches of an oak tree, her uneven footsteps soft on the grass. Wovenknot slipped between two shiny holly bushes, emerging in a small clearing. Her silver tabby fur had began to grow over the scratches and scars she had recieved at the great battle against the Tribe. She had not been badly injured - in fact, if you did not closely at her, you would not know she had recently been in a battle. Wovenknot's light blue eyes were sombre. There was danger in these woods, in the form of Poisongas, an old enemy of MoonClan. There were apprentices in danger if that old snake had returned.
A familiar scent hit Wovenknot in the face as she re-entered the trees. Padding out of the shelter of a young spruce tree, she caught sight of Spindlespider, her former apprentice. The light grey tom looked no worse for wear from the battle - he was the same old Spindlespider, minus one ear. Wovenknot smiled. "Hello, Spindlespider."

Spindlespider had been prancing in circles, but had stopped when he heard Wovenknot speak. He shook himself, and stood up straighter. "Hello, Wovenknot!" He meowed, smiling. "How are you today? No cats have been giving you any trouble have they? Cuz if they do, remember, I've got your back." The tom grinned, looking around at the trees, before sitting down on the forest floor.

wovenknot Watching the thin tom spin in tight circles reminded Wovenknot of his apprentice days, when she had had to scold him countless times for his foolish love of adrenaline. The steel-coloured tabby she-cat smiled at the expression on Spindlespider's face, one of rapt attention, when he realised that his former mentor was present. It was as though she was still the teacher, he still the student. Wovenknot supposed it was different now. He was a warrior, she was the deputy of MoonClan. She still couldn't quite believe it, but thinking it helped it to sink in a bit. The threelegged she-cat thought uncomfortably of Poisongas. It was her duty to find him. "I'm fine," she mewed. "Just Poisongas, y'know. He's back in the forest. I pretty much need to find him. That's all."
Wovenknot wondered if Spindlespider would remember the death of two apprentices on Poisongas's part. It hadn't been that long ago... The small she-cat shuddered to think of what he would do if he was not located and driven away.

Spindlespider listened attentively as his former mentor spoke, then nodded solemnly. "Yes...He needs to be found, and fast." He paused, thinking about the two apprentices that had been killed. The slim tom shuddered, then looked back up at Wovenknot. "I'm sure you'll be able to find him." He said, nodding. He paused again, looking at a bird as it flew from a tree. He looked at Wovenknot again. "I could help you look for him. If you want help, that is." The tom said.

wovenknot Wovenknot listened silently to Spindlespider's words. She noticed the way he trembled slightly when he spoke of Poisongas. Most cats were afraid of him - and rightly so. He was a serious threat, and needed to be found. But her three paws were tired. She needed a rest, if only for a few moments. The deputy sat down in the long, dark green grass. "You can help me, if you like," she mewed. "But for now, I'm having a rest. I've been on my paws all morning." Wovenknot ruffled out her silver-grey striped fur, and rasped her tongue over her shoulders a couple of times. Her light blue eyes narrowed as a scent filled her nostrils. Wovenknot got to her paws, turned around, and slunk into the trees.
She followed the scent until she spotted a flash of colour amongst the tree trunks. The she-cat pounced, claws unsheathed. The rabbit's ears flew upright, and it lifted it's feet, about to flee - but too late. Wovenknot smacked down on it, her claws digging into it's neck, her teeth biting down on it's neck. Moments later she as trotting out of the trees back to Spindlespider, the fresh kill in her mouth.

Spindlespider nodded. "It must be hard work being Deputy." He meowed his dark blue eyes slightly wide. The grey tom lay down on his tummy, his paws tucked neatly under his chin. He blinked as Wovenknot suddenly got up and went away. He tilted his head, then a scent drifted to his own nostrils, and his eyes lit up with realisation. He rested his head back on his paws again. He waited a few moments and, as he had known would happen, Wovenknot returned carrying a rabbit. He flicked his one ear in amusement. "That was good, but not as good as me catching a bird earlier." He meowed grinning.

wovenknot Wovenknot dropped the rabbit onto the grass, lifting her head. The creature was large and limp, flattening the green stems. Blood still oozed from the gash on it's neck. Wovenknot licked her muzzle clean, then shot Spindlespider an amused look from pale blue eyes. "If you say so," she mewed wryly, before turning her back on him to kick grass and dirt over the rabbit she had caught. She was hungry, but the clan's need was greater than her's. Perhaps in the past she would have eaten it... But now she was deputy... Firestar expected her to show a good example. The threelegged steel-coloured tabby then sat down. She thought about what Spindlespider had said about it being hard, being deputy.
It was partly true. When Firestar had first appointed her deputy of MoonClan, Wovenknot had been so thrown that she had tried to refuse the position. There were way better suited warriors, like Spectreflame, or Darkmagic, but no. Firestar had chosen her. Wovenknot had come to accept it now. It was not so hard, now that she had got used to stringing names together to make patrols, and become accustomed to sneaking into the apprentices' den to kick out lazy apprentices. "It can be hard sometimes," she mewed honestly, her sky-blue eyes thoughtful.
