Dragonwhistler plodded along the clouds. He felt no happiness as he was reunited with his family. Nor did he feel happy that he could see his mate again. He wanted to see the kit. Make sure she was okay. No matter how many times Phoenixkit told him that she would be okay, he had to see it for himself. “I want to be her guardian,” He meowed to no cat in particular. “Let me guard that kit. Hse would be better of with a guardian. She is blind. And she needs a guardian.”

Dragonwhistler plodded along the edge of the clouds. He felt as if he could reach down and pluck any cat he felt he wanted to and take them into Starclan.

Dragonwhistler looked round. No cat was near. Oh how he needed a cat around right now. He shook his small head and lay down.

Dragonwhistler stood up and plodded round. He was looking for any cat. “ Shimmerflight?” He called into the unknown. “Shimmerflight!” He called again, dismayed. Why did she kill herself? I didn’t care that we couldn’t have kits. I love her. I wish she could understand that. Then she could come tell me…

Shimmerflight heard an echoing voice far away calling her name. The fluffy white she-cat almost blended in with the clouds around her. She turned, blinking orange eyes. "Dragonwhistler, is that you?" she asked anxiously, turning around. Her button nose wriggled as she paced, hearing her mate's voice but not seeing him.

She jumped through a bank of cloud and looked around. "Dragonwhistler? Where are you?" the pristine she-cat's eyes saddened.</sub>

Dragonwhistler leaped to his paws once more as he heard the sing song voice of his mate. "Shimmerflight!" He yowled. "Shimmerflight!" He ran towards her, catching her scent on the soft air, and noticing her elegant features. Dragonwhistler leaped over clouds to reach her, and when he finaslly did, he nuzzled her neck. "Oh Shimmerflight... How I missed you..." He purred.

_{Shimmerflight was astonished to see Dragonwhistler bound over the clouds. "Oh, my love, what happened? Surely you didn't have my fate?" she gasped, feeling the worst had happened. "No, no, Dragonwhistler..." She pressed against him. "I'm so sorry I wasn't a good mate to you," she whispered dejectedly, hanging her elegant head. Even in death, the white she-cat kept her appearance pristine.}

"No no no... You never failed me... I love you..." He whispered. "I died saving Tansykit. I want to be her guardian. She needs one. Oh Shimmerflight... I did the right thing, right?" He asked her, looking for the familiar comfort he would feel when she was alive.

_{"Tansykit? The little blind kit back at CloudClan?" Shimmerflight asked. "Of course, Dragonwhistler. Do as you wish..." The pretty she-cat smiled and licked his muzzle. "I hope you didn't have any problems getting here. Apparently, something called the Tribe of Nightmares has been stealing our new arrivals." The white female shook her head unbelievingly, looking down. "If you want, we can both be guardians if you want." She gave a dashing smile towards her mate and dipped her head.}

Dragonwhistler smiled. "Let's be guardians for her together." He meowed. "No, I didn't have a problem getting here. I heard about the tribe though. It's scary I think. Come on, let's go see Tansykit and tell her." Two wings sprouted onto his back and he flew across the clouds. "Whee!" He cried. "Let's enter into her dream," He meowed.

^{Shimmerflight presently gained twin lavender-colored wings that had feather dipped in silver. "But Dragonwhistler, I would like you to protect Tansykit. I can protect another kit, since we never...had any," she said quietly, bounding after her mate. The former warrior lunged after Dragonwhistler, soaring fast.}

Dragonwhistler stopped in his tracks. "Are you saying that you didn't htink I didn't love you because we couldn't have kits?" He asked her, astonished. "If that's what you think, then you are mousebrained." He meowed. "I love you for who you are, not if we had kits or not. If you are sure, then there's always Stripedkit," He suggested.

"But I was always the prim and proper Shimmerflight! The preppy one who was so snobbish because she didn't want people close to her know she was basically worthless for trying to kit!" the regal she-cat whimpered. She kept on flying but at a much slower pace. Shimmerflight turned to Dragonwhistler. "I'm sorry for being such a foxbrain ever since we've been together. I never knew what I had." Her tears gave way to smiles. "Thank you..."

Dragonwhistler flew into her path and stopped. "Shimmerflight. You know I wouldn't've cared if we could have kits or not." He purred, rubbing his head against hers. "And it's alright... I love your foxbrainyness." He meowed. "And your welcome."
