Mystique had managed to slip out of the camp in front of her father, her small paws carrying her the way she had previously came. She paused at the border of the park, ears flicked forward, in case someone else was around. She sniffed the air frantically, and then glanced back. Where was Lightningstorm? She stood there and waited, her tail flicking impaitently behind her.
"Come on," she muttered, shaking out her spotted coat. Her eyes turned, looking toward the spot where her and her adopted family always slept.

Lightningstorm panted as he followed farther behind Mystique. He was only able to keep up by following her scent and trying to ignore his instincts that were trying to tell him to leave the twoleg park and go back home. He was with his daughter and that was all that mattered to him.
He turned a corner and finally caught sight of her and saw her tail flicking back and forth impatiently. He walked up next to her and flashed sheepish smile. "I'm not as young as I once was. Are we close?"

The she-cat chuckled, her whiskers twitching slightly. "Well, yes, we are," she said, and headed across the park slowly, her eyes glancing around to make sure there weren't any Two-legs or kitty-pets around. Or other rogues. She sighed in relief, and looked back over her shoulder at her father. What would she say to Whale? She sighed, and continued heading toward the small log that the three surviving family members, her, Whale, and her adopted brother, shared.
She paused, when a strong salty scent hit her nose. Worry flooded through her, and she walked slowly toward the log. "Whale," she said softly, her ears flicked back. Claws flexed, as she prepared herself for the worst.

The mottled warriors ears swiveled from side to make sure they weren't being followed before he continued on with Mystique. He unseathed his claws as the unusual salty scent hit his mouth glands and he padded over to Mystique to find out what was in the long.

Mystique flicked her tail at her father. "Lightningstorm. Something isn't right. I smell blood," she whispered, and stepped back. Then, something horrible caught her attention. Near the log, was her brother, Bone. She shook her head, as her eyes wandered toward the log. "Something happened while I was gone," she whispered and walked forward, entering the log. And, there was Whale, dead in his little cubby. A knot formed within Mystique's throat, and she looked away. She couldn't bear to see this.

That was one thing about being a senior warrior that the old Tom hated. You see a lot of unnecessary death, a lot of blood shed, and a lot of sorrow. He looked over the bloody mess and saw Bone lying there. Sorrow filled his heart as he wished that he could of done something to prevent this from happening. He knew the feeling of losing someone so close and his heart ached for Mystique. He walked up to the opening of the log and saw Whale.
"I'm so sorry, Mystique." He told her. "That must be Whale." He guessed.

The speckled she-cat shivered slightly, looking away from Whale, who lay wide-eyed, staring into the vast emptiness before him. Another shiver ran through Mystique's body, and she turned, leaving the log. "Yes, that was Whale. Oh, I wonder who has done this." It looked as if the she-cat would cry, but she stiffened up, whiskers twitching. "Lets go back to your Clan, Dad. I don't want to be here anymore. And maybe your leader is back by now."
She didn't look back, as she stared trekking across the park once more, in the direction of SerenityClan. The sight of Bone and Whale had scarred her, and it was imprinted in her mind now. The blood all over the place. The way her adopted father had died in his bedding.

Lightningstorm stood there for a moment before walking into the log, softly padding up to Whale. He took his paw and carefully closed the dead toms eyes. He then touched noses with him and quietly thanked him for watching over his daughter for the past few years. He then ran out and caught up with Mystique. He decided to come back later tonight and bury the two, right now he didn't know if Mystique could handle it or not.

Mystique had been waiting for her father, her tail swaying very slowly behind her body. The sight of Whale and Bone were fresh in her mind, and it will haunt her for the rest of her life. She shook out her coat, and exhaled slowly. Her paws shuffled the ground, so uneasy about being here now. Shaking her head, she turned her eyes upon Lightningstorm, waiting for him.

Lightningstorm came up next to Mystique and gave her a lick on the ear, trying to comfort her. He knew all to well on what it was like to lose someone whom you were close too, and he wished that there was some way he could of prevented it.
He felt at a loose of words as he wanted to say something to her, his eyes filled with sorrow of her having to suffer this loose. Finally he decided to just press his flank against hers in sympathy. "I know that he loved you like a daughter and I promise to come back tonight to honor him like warrior and give him a proper burial. I owe him everything because he protected what is most precious to me."

The she-cat rogue looked away from her father, toward the forest that they had came from. Her ears flicked, and she sighed. "I guess there isn't anything stopping me from asking Jasminestar about joining the Clan," she said softly, her paws kneading the ground gently. Something inside her was making her cold, and depression was already sinking in.

"I wish it was under better circumstances." Lightningstorm told her, truly wishing it. "I guess we should get back to camp."

The she-cat let her gaze fall one last time on the log, and she flicked her tail. "Lets go," she whispered to her father.
