Beacanpaw thrust his way through the dense undergrowth and gloomy, towering trunks of Raven Forest. He had eagerly taken over his mentor, sister and uncle, and had rushed on ahead in excitement. This was the forst time his mother had allowed him to leave camp! Smug joy filled him as he realised that now, because he was an apprentice, his mother could not tell him what to do. He was his own free cat. To a certain extent. The apprentice hurried on to a circular clearing, ringed in dark leaved bushes. Clusters of scarlet berries laced the sickly leaves. Beacanpaw surpressed a shudder. He knew he had stumbled accross the very clearing that his mother had mentioned in the story of his great-grandparents, Razorstar and Shadestar. He sat in the shelter of the thick overhead branch of an ash, and waited for Fernpelt, Sunpaw and Spicetalon.

Fernpelt raced after Beacanpaw, eager to stretch her own legs. She stopped for a second and tasted the air. Mouse! She jumped into the undergrowth and came out a second later with a limp body of a mouse hanging from her jaws. She then trotted the rest of the way to the clearing that Beacanpaw was waiting for them in. She dropped the mouse once there, and scraped some dirt over it, she would collect it later. 'Hoe does it feel to be an apprentice, then?' she asked, her eyes sparkling.

Beacanpaw jumped slightly at the appearance of his mentor, his short fur bristling. He flattened it hastily and smiled. He noticed that Fernpelt had caught a mouse; he hoped she would teach him how to soon. But he also knew that today was essential for showing him and Sunpaw around EclipseClan terrotory, and Fourtrees. "A lot better than being a stupid kit!" boasted Beacanpaw, eyes sparkling.

Fernpelt chuckled at the apprentice. 'We'd better wait here for Spicetalon and Sunpaw. Then we can really look around! I remember when I was first apprenticed. It felt so good to be out of the nursery at last!' She came over and sat beside Beacanpaw.

The apprentice nodded viogorously. "Yeah." He wriggled impatiently, wanting to start exploring now.

Sunpaw ran from the underbrush and into a ran in between tall trees that loomed over her with branches that reached out to grab her. But she paided no attention to these things. She was too busy trying to keep up with her brother. Soon she managed to find him and shook her pelt as she stepped up beside him. Leaves and dirt fell all around her but she turned back to her brother and smiled. She sat and flicked her small tail over her little paws.

Beacanpaw turned his head away from Sunpaw, looking at Fernpelt. He sat with his tan coloured back facing his sister, as if he were blocking her. "Where's Spicetalon?" he asked his mentor, yes flashing.

'I don't know...' Fernpelt replied, craning her neck to see if her was coming. 'We'll just have to wait a second for him.'

Ooc: Yeah, I read it, it's okay. -huggles- Bic: Fernpelt nodded at the breathless warrior. 'Shall we carry on with the tour of the boundaries?' she said, seeing the eagerness in the apprentices eyes. She started off in one direction, flicking her tail for the other cats to follow.

Sunpaw smiled at her mentor before getting up from beside Beacanpaw and following Fernpelt. Her eyes gleamed with excitement as she walked through the dark forest. She could feel her energy rising in her as she thought of the moons to come with training and actually being able to do something.

Beacanpaw skipped after Fernpelt, admiring the way the the sunshine hit the glossy green leaves of the holly bushes. He also noticed a tiny fern, just sprouted from the sodden earth, and a sapling with its spindly, leafed branches stretched up high towards the sky. Having been born at the very end of leaf fall, Beacanpaw had known nothing but the cold and wet. This warmth pleased him. It must be newleaf soon! He thought excited as he bounced along after his mentor.

Fernpelt opened her mouth slightly to let the scent flood into her glands. She quickly scented a starlng and pinpointed its whereabouts. She dropped into a hunters crouch and snuck up behind it. It was pecking at a new green shoot. She waited until she was about a bunny hop away and sprang. She swiftly bit the birds neck and felt warm blood seep into her mouth. She padded back with the kill and buried it close to where the others were standing.

'Thank you. she commented. She swiped her tongue around her jaws and went back over to Beacanpaw. The sun was shining through the trees and it was a warm day. Newleaf had come, and all the new green shoots were sprouting round them.
