Her small paws made soft noises on the grass. Tala picked her way across her garden, her blue eyes wide in the dawn light. She had to do this early, before her twolegs awoke. Her stomach was no longer swollen, but still uncomfortably large. Tala stopped to raise her legs several times, as though trying to force her sagging stomach back into its usual slender shape. The dappled grey kittypet leapt forward, claws snagging in the wood of the fence. She pulled herself up, sides heaving. Tala stood carefully on the fence, her paws delicately balancing her body. The she-cat craned her neck, peering through the glass windows of Sentres' nest. "Sentres? Sentres?" The young she-cat leapt lightly down onto the grass, the stone path stinging her sore paws. Tala padded to the back door of the nest, unsheating her claws. She drew them against the wood a couple of times, giving loud, whispered mew. "Sentres? Are you there? It's Tala!"

The ears of the lithe Siamese perked, then flattened. His orbs opened, blinking sleepily. White teeth, shining like diamonds, were revealed as the kittypet's maw widened in a yawn. After a few moments, he was on his paws. He heard muted yelling, quickly recognizing it as the voice of his mate, Tala. Sentres' head whipped in all directions until he found the source outside the window. He trotted through the nest's labyrinth of walls until he reached the door, with a flap for him to exit through. Outdoors, he located The dappled she-cat. "Tala, what's wrong? Are you okay?

Tala ws beginning to wonder if her mate would show, when Sentres' head poked through the catflap. The she-cat gave a loud, long purr of happiness. She strained onto the tips of her paws, leaning forward to lick his cheek. She had not seen him for a long while. Tala stared at him for a moment, her pretty sapphire eyes just checking his appearance - had he lost weight, or been ill? It didn't look like it. Tala gave a small sigh of relief, before remembering the reasons for her visit. "The kits!" she burst out. "There's four! You have to come and see! C'mon, the twolegs are asleep!" Tala waited excitedly for her mate's reaction, her blue eyes glittering with joy.
