ooc;; Note: This is BEFORE the Gathering.
bic;; The lithe she=cat leaped onto the rock, and called her clan. Her deputy had disappeared, and she was sad about it, but she must pick a new one. My clan, this day I was hoping to never come. I don't know if she is sick, or has disappeared, but Sorrowfrost has grown incapable of her deputy duties. Now I must pick a new deputy. I say these words before Starclan, and where Sorrowfrost may be, I hope they approve my choice. Wovenknot will be my new deputy. Dawnpaw, you are also without a mentor. Cagedfaith, You are ready for your first apprentice. Please train her as well as you fight. Now we go to the Gathering. Firestar leaped down and headed toward the exit.

Wovenknot's steely tabby body blended easily with the dark pelts of MoonClan. The threelegged she-cat stood alone, her black-striped tail raised, her light blue eyes watching Firestar. She wondered breifly why this ceremony was so important as to halt their leaving to the Gathering. Wovenknot blinked as Firestar began, and understood. She knew that Sorrowfrost had been very ill recently, and had not been able to carry out her deputy duties as she had used to. Wovenknot wondered who would be named the new deputy - perhaps Spectreflame, or Cagedfaith, or maybe Werewolf? Wovenknot's eyes widened as she was named. The grey tabby shook her head, opening her mouth. No, she couldn't be deputy. She was useless, she'd be a pretty shoddy deputy. The small she-cat looked around, her fur growing hot with embarrasment. Surely the others felt the same? She was a cripple, she couldn't be deputy. Wovenknot blinked at Firestar, but then she was gone, going to the Gathering. The grey tabby sat down heavily, confusion and sadness melded with a touch of pride inside of her.

When she realized she had not heard Wovenknot's voice, or scented her scent, she turned around. What's wrong? She asked her friend. Do you not want to be deputy? She asked her, eyes narrowed in concern.

"Wovenknot! Wovenknot!" Cardinalpaw squeaked, jumping up and down enthusiastically. He barreled over to the she-cat, tripping over his own paws and landing right in front of Wovenknot's paw. He shook himself and lifted his bright forest-colored eyes up to his mentor. "Congratulations!" he beamed, pressing his fiery-red head against her chest and meowing. He couldn't have been more happy for his heroine. His happiness faltered when she seemed disgruntled about the whole idea. Cardinalpaw swallowed and mewed timidly. "Sorry..." [/sub][/color]

The steely tabby looked up as Firestar's voice sounded beside her. The she-cat blinked, her light blue eyes still clouded by worry and confusion. "It is not that I don't want to be deputy," she mewed, looking at her silver-grey paws. "I'd love to be, and it's an honour. But you can't choose me. I'm useless, I wouldn't be good enough. Nobody else want's me to be deputy, because I have three legs, I can't do what others can." Wovenknot sighed, uncomfortable with bearing her emotions to her leader. The she-cat smiled as Cardinalpaw tumbled towards her, stumbling and landing sprawled at her paws. She gave her apprentice a quick lick. "It's quite alright," she mewed, eyes warming a bit.
Secretcalling watched from outside the nursery, his indigo eyes blossoming with sadness and pride. He was happy for his daughter, but he knew she would not want his congratulations. He gave Clarykit and Avenskit, who sat at his feet, two quick licks. The lean silver tabby still looked terrible, having not accepted help from any cat. He trusted nobody in MoonClan, not anymore. As far as he was concerned, they could turn on them any minute. He was still terrified that they would take his kits away - and that would surely kill Limestone. Secretcalling sighed, looking down at his two kits, eyes miserable.
Avenskit watched the ceremony, his little face bright. The silver tabby kitten, the spitting image of his father, leapt upright, stubby little tail held high. He prodded Clarykit with a paw, nodding at the coal-black she-cat. "One day I'll be deputy," he mewed, his quiet, shy voice excitable. The silver tabby stood tall, lifting a paw. "Avensheart, deputy of MoonClan. You can be medicine cat." He smirked at his sister, before continuing to mumble to himself. "I'm gonna be deputy, just like Auntie Wovenknot." He knew the silver tabby she-cat was his sister, but he called her 'auntie' - it was just a habit.

Falconpaw cheered for the new deputy, wovenknot. Despite her missing leg, she was a great warrior, she should be recognized for that. The light brown femme's eyes wandered the camp and set on Secretcalling. He still looked as ragged as ever, not accepting her, or anyones help. Everytime she saw him her ears would droop. She couldn't take care of him if he refused, then she would look like an awful medicne cat. She wanted what was best for them, why couldn't he get it. With a heavy sigh, Falconpaw made her way over to the nursery. Might as well try again.
Falconpaw padded up to Secretcalling and looked up at him. He was still much taller than her. She glanced at the kits and smiled before looking back up. Mabey this time she should choose a softer approch. . . "Um, Secretcalling," she stumbled over the words, more than a little nervous. She had to do her duty before she could go to Gathering. "You still look bad, p-please let me help you. . ." she traild off, breaking eye contact. "You would be a-able to hunt for your family better. . ."
((poor Falconpaw, she is scared of Secretcalling D=))

Minnowmask limped out of his den and flicked his ears when Wovenknot was announced deputy. He padded up to her and dipped his head in respect, Congratulations, Miss Wovenknot, he said, then turned to Firestar. He flicked the tip of his tail and asked, Is it time to leave yet? he asked.
Silentmoon pranced up to his friend and grinned hugely, his golden eyes sparkling. He was a different cat whenever he was around Wovenknot. Congrats!
Halloweentail bounced around in circles. Yaaay! he cried blissfully. Wovenknot's the deputy! Wovenknot's the deputy! he chanted.

Firestar rested her tail on Wovenknot's shoulder. Wovenknot, that's why I chose you. It's to prove to everyone that even though someone may be missing a leg, or blind, they can still be a strong warrior. You and Shardfeather have proven that to me. And also, when you were my apprentice, there was no trace of this attitude. you were always striving to be the best, and that's what you are. You are one of my best warriors, one of the loyalest, and there's no other cat I want to be for my deputy. Okay? Firestar's eyes were full of confidence as she looked at her friend.

Cagedfaith looked up as his named was called. Her glanced around, then noticed that he was called to be a mentor. Shock crossed his face. An apprentice? Has Firestar lost her mind?He asked himself as he looked around for Dawnpaw, listneing as the leader anncounced the new deputy.

Dawnpaw was looking up, anxious to see her mentor. She had always wanted to become like this, even when she was a kittypet. Should she tell Cagedfaith that she used to be a kittypet? No, if he found out, he might tell firestar. And then they might banish her. No, things are sometimes better as a secret. She paused her thoights to think about more important things. Finding Cagedfaith. She repeated his name in her head. Cagedfaith, Cagedfaith. It had a nice ring to it. She perked her head above the crowd. She saw the new female deputy, Wovenknot. She wanted to congratulate her, but it wouldn't mean much coming from an apprentice. She also had to find her mentor. I can't see a think. Everyones taller then me! She exclaimed in her mind. She wandered her way through the crowd, searching for her mentor. (ooc: Thanks Fireh xD)

Desperation showed in his eyes as he wanted to know about Sorrowfrost. Scorchedleaf was not sleeping. He had no idea what has happened to his daughter. He calmed himself down as he looked up to Wovenknot. 'Congratulations, Waovenknot... really. You too, Dawnpaw and Cagedfaith.' Averting his eyes from the cats he had congratulated, he left the meeting. His paws took him to the warrior's den where he fell asleep and had a nightmare.
((If you are wondering what it is, it is continued in '[Thunderdance]-- why bother trying <3 '))

Wovenknot nodded, accepting the congratulations that were pouring in from all around her. The steel-coloured tabby she-cat felt terribly self conscious. Wovenknot flinched a little as Firestar mentioned her apprenticeship. She had been cheeky, bold, and always wanted to have the last word. Wovenknot smiled meekly, her sky blue eyes down, embarrased. She then looked up, keeping eye contact with her former mentor and leader. "Then I'd be honoured to accept the position," she mewed, with a quick nod.
Secretcalling frowned as Falconpaw approached him again, baring his teeth. He wanted no help from her. The lean silver tabby shook his head. "Go away," he muttered. He knew that Falconpaw was only trying to do her job, but she was seriously getting under his paws. He had to take care of his family, his mate and kits - nobody else was going to do that for him. Avenskit turned to face Falconpaw, then frowned at his father. "Pa, why won't you let her help you?" he mewed, one eyebrow raised - he looked the spitting image of his father. "You look like a bag of bones!" He gave his father's thin side a scornful prod from a slim silver paw.

Firestar touched her nose to her new deputy, and smiled. When she heard Secretcalling tell off Falconpaw. This is the last straw. She muttered, then her pelt bristled as she turned and forced her way into the tom's face. Now listen to me, no one, and I repeat no one tells my clan to go away and treat them badly. You've been doing this the whole time we've been giving you hospitality. I think it's time for your family to leave. She snarled at him. I don't want to see you here tomorrow. She spat in his face. Then she whirled around and stalked to the entrance, flicking her tail for her warriros to follow.

Secretcalling turned to Falconpaw, ready to accept her help. If his kits thought he should, then he would. The silver tom whipped around at Firestar's words. Rising to his full height, fur bristling, he thrust his face into the amber she-cat's. "You won't," he spat. "We'll be glad to leave." Turning, he stalked into the nursery to inform Limestone that they were leaving. Avenskit shrank back, fear in his eyes. He stared after Firestar, little face scared, then turned to look into the shadpwy nursery. "Pa...?" he mewed doubtfully, ears flat.

Falconpaw sighed. It was her fault. If she hadn't asked then they would stay. Then she could ask again at a later time, and he might of accepted. She looked over to where avenskit sat, looking into the nursery. She could not let their father leave in that condition, he might be endangered. She smiled comfortingly at the kit and licked his ear. "Tell your dad that after the gathering I can help. If he still refuses, argue him out of it for me will ya?" she purred. Despite if he was enemies with the others and if he already refused twice, she had to try again. It was for the his good, if not, then the kits. She just hoped they would find some place to live soon. With a final flick of her tail, she bounded off toward the gathering.

Halloweentail trotted up next to Avenskit and licked his little friend between the ears. No worries, my buddy, everything will unfold and turn out well. Your life in MoonClan will only be remembered as a bittersweet memory, Halloweentail sighed.

Avenskit looked severely crestfallen when his father did not reappear. The young tom sat down heavily, tail drooping and eyes darkening. He looked up at Falconpaw as the medicine cat apprentice licked him between his stout little ears. The slender silver tabby tom had always liked Falconpaw - she had a comforting nature and a warm, welcoming scent of herbs around her. He gave a sad little nod at her request, understanding that she had to go. Avenskit looked down for a moment, only to glance upward again as Halloweentail appeared. He pouted shamelessly, tears spilling from his indigo eyes. "But I don't want to go!" he wailed. "It's not fair! I like it here!" He hated the ginger she-cat, he hated his father. It was their fault. "Stupid orange cat, stupid Daddy." He sniffed sullenly, wiping an eye dolefully with a small silver paw.

An upset call from the nursery made Firestar freeze. A silvery cat raced out of the nursery and up to her. Please Firestar, you can't make us leave! My kits' need to stay! And we can't leave them! I can talk to Secretcalling about the way he treats your cats. But please! He means no harm! You know how much we've spent in the worl as loners. Why, we left while you were still a young warrior. Please Firestar, let us stay.
Firestar studied the she-cat carefully, and meowed, I need to talk to my deputy. She flicked her tail to Wovenknot and beckoned her close. This is up to you, Wovenknot. Do you want your parents here? Because if you don't, I can send them away. But if you don't care, I'll have them stay. It's up to you. She whispered in a hushed tone.

Wovenknot glanced at her mother's distressed call. She glared at the black and white she-cat, blue eyes breifly meeting lime green. The steely tabby threw Firestar a look as the ginger she-cat asked her for her opinion. "I..." she hesitated, swallowing. She wanted to say no, wanted the two cats she despised the most to be thrown firmly out of her life. But her eyes strayed to the tearful, hopeful faces of Avenskit and Clarykit. They were innocents in all of this. They hadn't chosen their parents. She wasn't just Wovenknot now, the shy threelegged of MoonClan. She was MoonClan's deputy, and she had responsibilities. "They can stay," she said clearly, her maturity an effort. "Nothing's changed. This is for the kits, nothing else."
Avenskit gave a great whoop, jumping high on his long, slender limbs. The silver tabby kit turned to his sister, eyes sparkling with joy. "We can stay! We can st-ay!" The innocent little tom did not understand the seriousness of the situation. One thought was lodged in his mind - they could stay. Avenskit ran to his mother's side, rearing onto his hind legs and placing his forepaws on her shoulder. "We can stay, Ma! Auntie Wovenknot said so!" He shot his older sister a big grin, even sparing Firestar a nervous glance.

Crestedfire had rolled onto his back, waving his paws in the air. He suddenly paused, snorting at a ticklish tuft as grass as he moved to his sides and then onto his pudgy belly. His large ears swiveled forward and he blinked cutely. What's going on?
The tom pushed himself to his paws and then heard the entire conversation. He blinked and then looked over at Avenskit, smiling slightly when he saw the playful kit. His heart warmed and he approached Avenskit, meowing friendly-like. "Hi, little guy. You still scared of me?" Crestedfire asked quietly, large, watery eyes facing the tomkit.

Firestar dipped her head to her deputy. Then stay they will. But Secretcalling needs to learn how to be apart of a clan again.. She mewed. Then she dipped her head to Wovenknot, and flicked her tail for her warriors she had chosen for the Gathering to come.
Werewolf grinned at Wovenknot and padded to Secretcalling. I know you refused my help before, but now that you're apart of the Clan, do you want my help? I really don't mind, and I'll just come along so it won't be so hard on you. He meowed to his new clanmate.
ooc;; Can they become, like, best friends or something?
