"Since you have no mentor, and Blazepaw disappeared, Wovenknot will be your mentor. Wovenknot, you are skilled and loyal and I hope you pass on your skills to this apprentice." She smiled.

Firestar smiled before continuing. "Smokepaw, please step forth. Your time to become a warrior. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" She waited before continuing. "Then your name shall be Smoketale." She rested her head on the new warriors head.

Wovenknot purred as Spindlepaw's apprenticeship was announced. The grey tabby she-cat touched noses gently with her friend, pale blue eyes shining with warmth and pride. Spindlepaw was her apprentice! |

"Do you want to train?" Wovenknot asked Spindlepaw. She knew the apprentice might be worn out from the arrival of the unfamiliar kit and Pearlblade's kitting, but was eager to start training. |

"Okay," Wovenknot mewed. "I'll show you our territory and the neutral territory. Then we can hunt and come back here." The tabby waved her tail. "Follow me." She limped into the undergrowth surrounding the MoonClan camp, gesturing with her striped tail for Spindlepaw to follow. |

Firestar smiled at Wovenknot's mentoring. Her mind flew back to when Thornstar gave her Wovenknot to train. A pang of grief as sharp as a claw pierced her heart. She almost yowled aloud, Thornstar. But she held it back. Then she remembered how Wovenpaw wanted to be named Wovenknot. Then they went back to camp and Thornstar had disappeared. So she gave her apprentice her warrior ceremony. "Oh the beautiful days," she murmured, before trotting back to her den.
