Small ginger paws dragged along the lush green grasses as a small ginger tabby kitten trailed her way into the sheltered bush that was the elders' den. In her tightly-clenched jaw was a rabbit. This was Halopaw's punishment for being so disrespectful to warriors. Halopaw flicked her tail irritably. She loathed looking after the elders. She had used to love it, but now hated it with ever fibre of her small being. Then again, her body was now full of hate, hate for everything.
Halopaw dropped the rabbit in the elders' den, and began to claw the moss out of the den. She accidentally caught one of the elder's flanks with her claws, and snorted.
[ooc;] Can it be your charrie she hit?

Fallenleaf woke from a peaceful slumber when she felt a sharp pain on her flank. She sprang up in alarm and launched herself on the attacker. 'Darned TigerClan warrior! Eat my fur!' then she saw that it was just Halopaw. 'Sorry Halopaw... I thought you were a TigerClan warrior! Why did you wake me, dear?' the elderly cat lay down in her bed of moss again and rested her head on her shoulders.

[bic;] Halopaw spat in anger as Fallenleaf launched herself at her. She wriggled free, fur ruffled and eyes gleaming with fury. The ginger tabby snorted grumpily at the elder's apolegy, before replying to her question. "I'm meant to be looking after you lot. As a punishment," the apprentice jabbed her claw into a lump of moss angrily.

'What did you do wrong? Do you want to talk about it?' Fallenleaf rasped, her eyes closed.

[SHADE. :D]

Halopaw continued to shift moss, not replying to the ol she-cat's question right away. "Eaglefeather's gone off with a loner," she blurted out suddenly. She glanced around to check no cat had woken up. She then continued in a quiet tone: "And... And I-I really liked him." The ginger tabby she-cat scuffed the earth with her paws.

'Oh sweetie, in my day, cats were more interested in fighting for their Clan than mates. Then again, Rowanfur... he was a gentletom. But my advice to you is to stop feeling so bad and concentrate on the better things in life. The right tom will find you, and you won't have to go running after him for him to notice you.' she sat up again and flicked Halopaw's shoulder.

[SHADE. :D]

"But he's so stupid, breaking the warrior code!" spat Halopaw, all her hostilty towards the dark tabby warrior rising again. "He thinks it's okay." The tabby sank her claws into the earth, teeth grinding in her jaw.

'He will be punished when everyone finds out, but for now don't let it get to you honey.' Fallenleaf croaked.

[SHADE. :D]

"Yeah, I know," Halopaw mewed, her head hanging. It shot up suddenly. "Please don't tell anyone, Fallenleaf."
The tabby looked at her paws for a moment before hissing; "I can't wait to get revenge on him though. He broke my heart."

'Don't worry, I'll probably have forgotten by tomorrow. And revenge doesn't solve anything. Your heart will heal in time, Halopaw. Now, occupy yourself with worthwhile tasks and don't sit around moping. Eaglefeather is young and stupid. He's getting a rush from it now but will have to face the consequences later.' Fallenleaf licked Halopaw's ear and gave her an encouraging look.

[SHADE. :D]

"Well if he thinks I'll look at him twice after this he's wrong," grumbled Halopaw. The tabby looked up at Fallenleaf. "Thanks." She returned to her moss-collecting, scooping up Fallenleaf's soiled bedding into a ball and rolled it out of the elders' den, before moving onto the elderly tom Barkmask.

Fallenleaf flicked her tail as if in signal that she had heard Halopaws thanks. She lay down, closed her eyes, and fell into a light slumber.
