*Rainbowpaw* The lithe, ginger she-cat laid in the apprentices den, her companions sleeping around her. But everything felt so far away to her. She looked over to the sleeping form of her brother, dawn light slowly entered the apprentices den, bringing warmth with it. But inside, the she-cat still felt... cold. She embarrassed her brother earlier, in front of his crush no doubt, and he hadn't spoken to her since.
She had to make it right, she knew she needed to right things not only between her and her brother, but him and Brackenpaw. The two had been avoiding each other since that day. Brackenpaw at the moment was on the dawn patrol. Maybe she could even get them together...
The apprentice stood up and shook the lose moss out of her fur before cautiously picking her way over the other sleeping forms. Finally she was standing over her brothers gray and white sleeping body. "Puzzlepaw?" she quietly called, prodding her brothers body, hoping he would at least listen to her. "Puzzlepaw, please. I need to talk to you."

puzzlepaw The scruffy ball of black, white and grey tabby fur that Puzzlepaw was curled in his nest. His face was hidden beneath his messy tail. He was asleep, but he his dreams were not pleasent. He was dreaming about Brackenpaw. Puzzlepaw mumbled in his sleep, stirring slightly. He clenched his sharp teeth. He felt anger pulse through his sleeping form. Why did Rainbowpaw have to interfere with everything? He wished he wasn't so easy-going. Every time he forgave her, she let him down all over again. The apprentice grunted, cracking open his eerie amber eyes as a paw poked him in the ribs. He sat up, lowering his tail so that he could see his disturber. Puzzlepaw sighed as he recognized his sister. He shook himself, grooming his fur flat. "What d'you want, Rainbowpaw?" he asked, his voice exasperated.

*Rainbowpaw* Her ears flicked back as she heard it in his voice. He didn't want to talk to her. Her heart broke in two and she knew that out of all the things she had done to her brother, that one was the worst. She stood up and motioned with her tail for him to follow her outside of the den. She sat in the crisp morning air, it would be hours before the sun reached high in the sky to where it would start to warm the camp. She delicately placed her tail over her paws and awaited her brother to come out of the den. 'Where to start?'

puzzlepaw The messily-furred apprentice noticed the pain in his sister's eyes as he spoke. He brushed the feelings of guilt away . He couldn't let her worm her way back into his good books again. As Rainbowpaw turned to pad out of the den, he sighed. Puzzlepaw followed her, his large paws pressing prints into the grass. A white coating of frost covered the grass, making it crunch beneath his step. Puzzlepaw dared not sit down in the damp grass, so instead stood before Rainbowpaw. The grey, white and black tabby tom did not look at his sister, only lifted his paws in turn and licked the clinging frost off them. The apprentice then looked up at the sky, his cold amber eyes grazing the dawn-streaked heavens.

*Rainbowpaw* The apprentice didn't look at her brother because she knew that he was probably refusing to look anyway. So she sat there looking over the camp instead, pain in trying to figure out what words to use to apologize... but then again... what if he didn't accept it? 'I wouldn't blame him if he didn't.' She thought to herself.
"I know that you are mad at me and I'm sorry for what I did. It was immature and stupid and childish... but I wouldn't blame you if you didn't forgive me. Right now I don't expect you too." She paused, wondering if she should really tell him what she knew. But what else does she have have to lose? "She really does like you... you know... But I promise I won't do anything like that again. Your life is your business... not mine."
Her ears flattened as she waited to hear his reply and she braced herself for the worst.

puzzlepaw The shaggy-furred tom blinked at the gloomy sky, his sharp amber eyes tracing the outline of every cloud, as he waited for Rainbowpaw to make her excuses. He had sat here, like this, with her, so many times. And every time he had forgiven her. As his sister opened her mouth, Puzzlepaw lowered his head so that his eyes grazed Rainbowpaw's face. He sighed, flattening his ears. "Whether she likes me or not, you shouldn't have interfered," he mewed in a resigned voice. "You just can't help yourself, can you? You might have ruined everything for us now." Though his words were angry, his tone banished their effect. He sounded... Tired. Not furious. Not even annoyed. Weary. As though he was sick of all this. Puzzlepaw looked at his paws, exhaling at length through his nose, before making eye contact with his pest of a sister once again. "I think I'm destined to forgive you," he mewed wryly. "As always." The tom tipped his head on one side, then added; "I hope you've apologized to Brackenpaw."

*Rainbowpaw* He didn't yell at her, he didn't say that he hated her, her just forgave her. Yet she still felt like she let him down more then she had ever before. Her heart was broken and she tried to speak but it felt more like there was a lump in her throat as she tried to hold back the tears that dotted the corner of her eyes. She mumbled something about training with her mentor even though her mentor was probably still asleep. Without even glancing at him she bolted, leaving the camp tunnel. She didn't even know where she was going, but she just hoped Puzzlepaw wouldn't follow.

puzzlepaw The grey, black and white tabby tom watched, confused, as his sister's eyes grew glassy, as though she were about to burst into tears. This behaviour was unlike Rainbowpaw. Usually, she would be up by now, saying that she would go apologize to Brackenpaw, before shooting away and forgetting what she had promised to do. But this Rainbowpaw stood still, shaking a little as though she were cold, before turning and darting away. "Rainbowpaw! Rainbowpaw! What-?" He took a step after her, then stopped. No. He was always running after his siblings, sorting out their problems. It was time they grew up. The tom shook himself, and padded to the fresh kill pile. He took a wren and began to eat in a resigned manner.
