rosemarypool The willowy shape of Rosemarypool paced outside the apprentices' den. The warrioress was waiting for her apprentice, Firepaw, to wake up so that she could take her on patrol. She sighed. She had never taken this long to get ready as an apprentice. Had she? Rosemarypool couldn't help smiling wearily. She decided to go and find a warrior to come along in patrol with the two of them. The longhaired dark brown tabby she-cat padded softly back to the ferny den, and stepped inside. There wern't many warriors left inside, and most of them were sleeping. She didn't like the idea of waking them up. They'd probably be terribly grumpy. She searched for Razortomb, or Moonmist, or Silentsong, or one of her brothers, but none of them were there. She sighed, and called out hesitantly. "Um, does anybody want to... Um, patrol with me?" She winced at the sound of the words as they tumbled from her mouth. She sounded so pathetic!
// Reserved for Fireh with Firepaw and Aurrie with Mavericksky. This can be the start of the Ravericksong plot. :]

Mavericksky
:: [ I'm going in blind ] :: Majestic steps guided him forward, the ginger tom with the beautiful eyes that resembled emeralds in color and cold nature. "I do not see a problem with that," he said quietly, staring down at her from atop a branch of a half-fallen over larch tree.
Mavericksky leapt down gracefully, wordlessly making his way over to Rosemarypool's side. A smile nearly creased his expression but it withered away by the time he reached the she-cat. With a bowed head, he wished her a pleasant morning. With a tilt of it, he questioned about her apprentice.
"Is Firepaw coming with us?"
He had noticed that she had left the apprentice's den empty-pawed.

FIREPAW!!
Firepaw's eyes flew open as she heard her mentor talking. She flew out of her nest andd barrelled towards the pair. "I'm ready to patrol! I'm ready to patrol!" She meowed excitedly, bouncing around Rosemarypool's and Mavericksky's paws. " What's it like being a warrior?" She asked Mavericksky as she bounced. She scurried away and ran back, before sitting down.

Mavericksky
:: [ I'm going in blind ] :: He stared at Firepaw as his question to Rosemarypool was suddenly slashed through by the hyperactive furball. Mavericksky coughed quaintly and flicked his tail, hiding his irritability at the loud, rambunctious female. However, he was obliged to answer her question.
"Being a warrior...takes concentration and diligence," he said sagely but she had scurried away from him. The green-eyed tom grunted, bending his ears back at being dismissed in such a fashion.
"Let's just get on with the patrol," he muttered, already irritable that his own apprentice and foster brother was kidnapped.

rosemarypool The green-eyed warrioress bit her lip, beginning to wonder what to do, when a voice drifted down to her. She looked up, her leafy eyes meeting another green pair. She smiled in relief at Mavericksky's words. "Thanks," she mewed breathlessly. Rosemarypool nodded at his question, opening her mouth to confirm that Firepaw was supposed to be accompanying them, when the apprentice herself cannoned into view. Rosemarypool felt embarrasment spread through her body, her face heating. Mavericksky must think she was an utterly useless mentor. She had been training Firepaw for almost four moons, and she was still a hyperactive furball. Rosemarypool lifted her head, ears still burning, as Mavericksky spoke again. She nodded, titlting her ears back. She was supposed to be leading this patrol, and so far she had made a pretty bad job of it. Taking a deep breath, she turned to Firepaw. "Er, make sure you stay behind us... Okay?" She tried to sound stern, but her voice just sounded uncertain. Rosemarypool led the way towards the camp entrance, feeling thoroughly uncomfortable. FIREPAW!!
Firepaw's eyes flickered up to Mavericksky as he answered her question. " Cool! Do you think I'll ever be a good warr-" She trailed off as Rosemarypool spoke. She padded up and stretched her nose up to her mentor's shoulder and pressed it into her shoulder. "Okay, Rosemarypool. You're the bestest mentor ever." She looked up at her with big, green eyes, and blinked happily, before retreating to stand behind them. She tried to stay serious, padding behind the two warriors, but a butterfly caught her attention. She swatted a paw after it, but stopped mid-swat. She shook her head and followed the two warriors, a look of determination upon her face. But it actually looked goofy. Her brow was furrowed, and her mouth was twisted in a goofy look of determination.

Mavericksky
:: [ I'm going in blind ] :: Mavericksky's tail swang side to side deliberately, and the tom stared straight ahead as he swallowed his urge to bark at Firepaw for her to stop dawdling with the damn butterfly and to get on with it. However, he simply inhaled deeply and turned to Rosemarypool. Deciding to avoid the issue about mentoring, he thought to make a point about the weather.
His ear flicked and he paused, looking around. "Did you feel that?" A sudden warm breeze brushed through his fur.
"My son..."
Mavericksky blinked and looked left and right. What was that? he thought, frowning slightly. He turned to Rosemarypool. "I felt...something odd...and I heard--," he broke off. He had heard his mother. How odd. He felt her brush against him...
ooc;// Could you have Rosers feel the same with Lonely? I figured that since the Tribe was dispelled, all the Clans could kind of feel an odd sensation of their loved ones coming back.

rosemarypool The silky-furred she-cat breathed out, relaxing a little as Firepaw seemed to calm down. She padded determinedly ahead of the the ginger apprentice, trying to conceal her discomfort from Mavericksky. The she-cat could hear Firepaw's paws thudding the earth as she jumped after a butterfly and winced. She was going to scare all the prey away! But still Rosemarypool could not find the courage in her silly, ridiculously shy heart to tell the bumbling apprentice. Rosemarypool felt a wave of despair rush over her, but it was soon doused by a sudden breeze than poured over her body. It was warm, and accompanied by whispers in her ears. Rosemarypool... Rosemarypool... Dear daughter... The she-cat's green eyes widened and she stopped abruptly in her tracks. Turning to Mavericksky, she opened her mouth to speak. "Did you-?" She trailed off, embarrased. They had both spoken at the same time.
"Y-yes," she mewed shakily. She had never heard the voice that had whispered in her ears before. But it brought back long-buried memories, from her early kithood. And she had been called 'daughter'. It must have been Lonelyheart, her mother. But she'd thought Lonelyheart didn't care about her! What was this?

Mavericksky
:: [ I'm going in blind ] :: He cleared his throat and looked away as the two cats spoke and stared at each other simultaneously. The tom's ginger fur seemed to grow a brighter red. Mavericksky flicked his tail and swallowed audibly. "I wonder what that was about," he meowed.
The beautiful-eyed tom shook himself and glanced back at Rosemarypool, feeling a bit embarrassed about the situation for some stupid unknown reason. "Um...let's keep going..." Why was this becoming so awkward?

rosemarypool The thick-furred she-cat gave herself a shake, blinking her leaf-coloured eyes confusedly. She had no idea what had just happened. She couldn't have heard her mother. Lonelyheart was long dead. And besides, why would she speak to Rosemarypool like that? From what she had heard from the clan's whispers, Lonelyheart hadn't cared about her kits. Rosemarypool felt a rush of sadness for Brokensoul, and anger towards her unknown father. The she-cat blinked as Mavericksky spoke. She could feel the awkward between them, and shrugged it off, swallowing. This patrol would be a lot easier if they weren't so embarrased. She wasn't even sure why the tom was embarrased. He also seemed so self-assured. Not at all like Silentsong. The longhaired warrioress felt a rush of affection for her best friend.
"Yes, let's go on," she mewed, trying to sound curt and just about managing it. The she-cat padded on, her white paws making no sound beneath her. She lifted her silky, bottle-brush tail as she walked, her green eyes fixed ahead. She kept her ears pricked, to make sure Firepaw was keeping up and not getting into any mischeif.

*FIREPAW*
Firepaw had raced ahead of the pair, so she had not heard their exchange. But as she raced back, and saw the puzzled expressions on both her mentor's and her mentor's best friend's faces, she cocked her head and meowed, "What's up with you two?"[/] She walked backwards in front of them as she waited for her answer.
Maybe walking backwards through this forest wasn't such a good idea. She already had tripped over two roots, and slipped on five leaves. But she didn't mind, she wanted her answer.
ooc;; Urgh, failure post.

Mavericksky
:: [ I'm going in blind ] :: He nodded at Rosemarypool, feeling slightly embarrassed. However, the normally-stoic tom regained his composure when Firepaw spoke. His green eyes flickered towards the smaller she-cat. "It's nothing," he said briskly, shaking his head. To distract himself, he decided to focus on hunting. He sniffed the air and crouched down, lunging and snapping down on a chipmunk. He brought it back near the main path and buried it. "Leaf-fall's coming up soon. We should hunt more than usual."

rosemarypool The longhaired she-cat glanced over her shoulder as Firepaw spoke. "Sssh! You'll scare away all the prey," she snapped. She regretted it after hearing Mavericksky's calm, brisk answer. She began to feel hot behind the ears, and looked at the grass. Rosemarypool heard Mavericksky's pawsteps fade as he left the path. She stopped, waiting for him, making sure to listen for sounds of prey. When Mavericksky returned, she got to her paws and padded forward, as though following a scent. "Um, I completely agree," she mewed, tripping over a root. She blushed furiously, embarrased at her clumsiness. A good warrior would have looked where she was going. Rosemarypool heard the low call of a woodpigeon, and decided to try and make a bit of a good impression, at least. Flattening herself to the grass, she stalked through the ferns until she could see the ash-coloured bird. She pounced, her teeth snagging in it's neck. She shook it until it was dead, then carried it back to Mavericksky and her apprentice. She placed her catch beside the tom's, relieved that she had actually managed to catch something.
She turned to look at Firepaw, her eyes expectant. Now only her apprentice was left. "Remember, keep all your weight balanced..." she mewed, demonstrating. She knew that Firepaw was fairly skilled at hunting - she just wanted to show Mavericksky that she could be a good mentor.

Mavericksky
:: [ I'm going in blind ] :: When she blushed, he couldn't help it. The tom let out a husky laugh. It was soft and deep, and it was also rare. Mavericksky hadn't laughed since...since he was a kit. He had become oh, so serious when apprenticeship hit, moreso during his tenure as warrior. The male was younger than Rosemarypool by several moons, but one would not know it. By his bearing and speech, he sounded like a Maverickstar instead.
However, the point is digressing. At this moment, Mavericksky slowed his laugh to a mere chuckle and pressed against Rosemarypool. "You are, indeed, a rare find," he said softly before brushing against her and going on ahead while she demonstrated hunting techniques to Firepaw. His mind wandered to his brother and apprentice, and he sighed softly, staring up at the sky with glittering emerald hues.
He looked back at her, tail flickering. "Don't be so self-conscious. Let your instincts flow."
