Cacaokit Nothing’s gonna harm you, not while I’m around...A skinny kit sat outside the nursery, staring around with wide olive green eyes. His short brown fur was wrinkled in places, which he was quite proud of; it made him feel special. Cacaokit sighed. Brackenkit was more special; he had more wrinkles. But he was gone. Cacaokit's bottom lip trembled, his eyes becoming wet.
The small tom shook his head, a few tears falling onto the ground. No. He had to be strong for his brother. In fact, he was going to go and find him. Yes. That's what he would do. Cacaokit leapt purposefully to his paws, and began to pad towards the camp entrance.

Timor mortis conturbat me, quilla inferno nulla est redemptio The fear of death torments me because, in Hell, there is no redemption
Like a lion lashing out as it's prey, the massive she-cat Solsticesong leapt from the shadows and confronted Cacaokit. She lowered her head and stared at him. "Where do you think you're going, young man?" she demanded, her shaggy hair puffing out a bit. Her tail flashed out left and right. Though normally jovial, seeing what Brackenkit's disappearance had done to Fernpelt had struck a serious note in the white and black femme. Solsticesong

Cacaokit Nothing’s gonna harm you, not while I’m around...Cacaokit squeaked in shock as Solsticesong appeared in front of him. He blinked down at the floor for a few moments as she spoke, then raised his head, staring back defiantly. "I'm going to find my brother, and bring him back to the clan! And I'm sorry, but I can't let you stop me, Solsticesong." He meowed, before attempting to pad past the she-cat.

She simply stepped to the side and blocked him again. "You mean to take down the three rogues that stole your brother? I'm sorry, but I can't let you go. Not even our warriors could find them. Go back to the nursery, Cacaokit, you're not strong enough." She receded from her crouched position, straightening up and pushing down her fur. She sighed heavily and shook her head. If he was a warrior, she wouldn't have cared as much. Sure, she would have tried to stop him but if he kept demanding it of her, she would have let him pass because he was an adult and could make their own decisions. However, he was only half the age it took to be considered for apprenticeship, plus kits weren't allowed to hunt according to the Code. Cacaokit would die out there. Solsticesong

Cacaokit Nothing’s gonna harm you, not while I’m around...Cacaokit humphed as Solsticesong blocked his path once more. He looked up at her, his eyes round. "But Solsticesong! Mother is really upset and I want her to be happy again! That's why I have to find Brackenkit, since no one else has found him yet." He blinked, fighting back tears. "If you don't let me go I'll....I'll fight you!" He squeaked, bumping his head against the she-cats leg.

laurelkit A small, fluffy kit crouched by the nursery, her fluffy tortoiseshwll coat stuck out in tufts around her. Her green eyes were fixed on a fat caterpillar as it made it's way through the grass. "Mister Pilly, d'you know where Brackenkit is?" she asked, her eyes large and her expression hopeful. "Did you see?" Laurelkit turned her head to look at the camp entrance as she heard a small commotion going on there. She picked up the caterpillar in her mouth, though kept it soft so that she wouldn't hurt the delicate insect. The caterpillar waved it's many legs in protest as Laurelkit carried it over to Cacaokit and Solsticesong. There, she spat it out and cupped it between her forepaws. "You interrupted my conversation with Mister Pilly!" she complained, narrowing her eyes. "Apologize." She watched two angrily, her lips pursed.

The she-cat sighed and adamantly shook her head. "No, Cacaokit," she said, adopting a more gentle tone with the boy. She stared down at him as the tiny tomkit attempted to attack her leg. She swiveled and lowered herself to pick him up by the scruff when she was interrupted by Laurelkit. She sighed again, not having time for the she-kit's antics. "Cacaokit, you will not make your mother happy if you run out there blindly," she said quietly, ignoring Laurelkit for the moment and placing the tom near the nursery. "We're doing our best to find him. Let us do that." She bent her ears back and turned to Laurelkit. "Now, what did you want?" She sounded exhausted. Solsticesong

Cacaokit Nothing’s gonna harm you, not while I’m around...Cacaokit sighed and nodded slowly. "Can you find him for me, Solsticesong?" He asked, looking hopeful. He brushed his head against her leg, the only thing he could really reach. "Pleeeeaaase? If you don't, and no one else does, then I'm going to go and find him when I'm big." He mewed. Then he turned to Laurelkit. "Does the Pilla know where Brackenkit is, Laurelkit?" He asked, looking down at the wriggling bug. "Can I speak to him?"

laurelkit The tortoiseshell and white kitten frowned at Solsticesong's words. She pouted, picked up the caterpillar and turned to pad away. She didn't understand why Solsticesong was being so grumpy. Nobody was any fun anymore. They only moped over Brackenkit. Laurelkit carefully put the caterpillar down on the grass again. "Don't worry, we'll have fun on our own," she whispered to the fuzzy creature. As Cacaokit padded up to her she narrowed her leaf-coloured eyes. "He doesn't know, Cacaokit!" She wrapped her paws around the insect, hugging it to her chest. "He's my friend. I found him." Reluctantly she released the caterpillar to let Cacaokit see it. She frowned sulkily at her brother.

"I'll do my best," she promised him, nodding. The fluffy she-cat flopped onto her side, feeling extremely tired. Her fur settled around her fallen frame as she lazily watched the two kits play with the caterpillar.
"Hey, Cacaokit, did you know that caterpillars turn into butterflies?" she asked softly. "Once they're all grown up, they go to sleep in a little shell and then come out as a pretty butterfly. Maybe that one will turn into a butterfly too." [/sup][/blockquote] Solsticesong

Cacaokit Nothing’s gonna harm you, not while I’m around...Cacaokit gasped, his eyes wide. "Really? Wow!" The young tom looked down at the 'pilla' in wonder. After a few moments he turned back to Solsticesong, grinning. "Can I turn into a butterfly too, if I curl up in a shell?" He asked, his olive green eyes huge. Without waiting for an answer he turned to Laurelkit. "Laurelkit, Laurelkit! I'm going to be a butterfly when I grow up!"
