beaconsong The sun was bright overhead, shedding the last of it's late summer light. The day seemed cheerful enough, but there was an air of sadness about the EclipseClan camp. A skinny body of a cat perched outside the warriors' den. It was Beaconsong. The tan-pelted Rex's back was hunched, his ears flat. His dark yellow eyes were hidden, but had they been visible, they would have been glazed with sadness. The tom cat's whole body reflected his misery. His tail and paws were limp, his pelt still ruffled from where he had slept fitfully on it. Beaconsong truly had taken the disappearance of his son harshly. He had wondered enough times about why it had happened, but still had come to only one conclusion. StarClan were punishing them. He didn't know why. He didn't care why. He just wanted Brackenkit back, safe and sound. What cat, even a rogue, could steal a kit? Beaconsong felt tears soak into the fur on his paws. Heartless rogues, that was who.
And one day, he would get them back for what they had done.

Your tears don't fall y e w c h i m e__xx They c r a s h around me "I am sorry that I couldn't do more to ease your pain."
The ginger she-cat appeared solemnly at the gate to the nursery, her fluffy tail flopping over her feathery paws. Yewchime stared forward, her usually-bright eyes dull. She had seen Solsticesong since the fiasco; the she-cat was always out training with Costanopaw, probably to escape the sadness. Solsticesong was always a cheery presence but it was strangled by the sadness that permeated the camp since Brackenkit had been taken.
The ginger female turned and watched Beacansong wordlessly. She came to her feet and walked over to him, resting her paw on his shoulder.
"You'll have your revenge when the time is right."

beaconsong The Rex tom lifted his head, his yellow eyes carrying none of the glow that they once had. He swung his head to the left, to see Yewchime padding towards him. He flicked his tail weakly in response to her words, before resting his chin glumly on his paws once again. He couldn't stop thinking about his son. What were the rogues doing to him? Would he ever see Brackenkit again? Beaconsong sighed, trying to push away the tears that were beginning to well up in his eyes. Every time he closed his eyes in an attempt to shut out the pain, Brackenkit's precious little face popped up in his mind. It was torture. "What use is a kit to them?" he mewed, his voice tormented. "Why? Why did they have to take him? My little Brackenkit..." The rex buried his nose in his forepaws, grief racking through this thin body. laurelkit A fluffy bundle padded from the nursery. It was Laurelkit. The kit's coat was fluffed out, her white paws pattering the grass. She shivered. The mornings had turned very cold recently. She hoped the sun would come out properly soon. The tortoiseshell kitten noticed her father, face pressed in his paws. Her bottom lip quivered, then popped out, and her green eyes grew huge and glistening. She knew what was the matter was Beaconsong. She'd noticed the loss of her brother, she wasn't that stupid. Laurelkit gave a small snuffle. Everyone had told her that Brackenkit would be back soon, but it was soon. He'd been gone for ages. Where had he gone? Laurelkit raced across to Yewchime, one of the kindly queens who suckled her. "Yewchime, when's Brackenkit coming back?" she mewed, her voice small and faltering, quite unlike her usual bold tones.

"He might have the mindset of a rogue..." Yewchime sighed heavily, all of her fur fluttering and settling back down again like raised dust. The large ginger she-cat shook her head, and that was when she saw Laurelkit. She tilted an ear to listen to the she-kit and shook her head once more. "I don't know, honey. We'll try to get him back." She lowered herself and ran a rough tongue over the tortoiseshell's ear. A low growl echoed deep in her throat. "I'll go out and get him myself if I have to."

beaconsong The Rex tom did not lift his head, even when he heard his daughter's voice. He just didn't have it in his heart to care for, to even look at his other kits, not when Brackenkit was out there, with rogues, probably injured. The Rex tom did lift his head as Yewchime spoke again. His yellow eyes were narrowed. The warrior heaved himself suddenly to his paws and unsheathed his claws. "Your not helping me! Not at all! Just... Just leave me alone, just get away from me!" The tom turned and ran from the camp, his yellow eyes wide and dark with grief. He just wanted to get away from them all. He just wanted to find his son, his poor, precious son. laurelkit The fluffy tortoiseshell and white kitten stared up at Yewchime with wide green eyes, depending on her to answer her questions. She had long stopped ciunting on her father. He just moped. Laurelkit leant against the ginger she-cat's hind leg, sighing heavily. She didn't always like Brackenkit, but she needed him to tease, and he did play sometimes. It wasn't fair. Why couldn't some other kit get taken! Why did it have to be Brackenkit? The kit squeaked in shock as her father heaved himself to his paws, yelling something at Yewchime and her, then fled from the camp. She burst into tears. "Why is Daddy yelling? What did I do now, Yewchime?" She stared desperately after Beaconsong, her little body quivering.

Petaldance The lithe she-cat blinked her lilac blue eyes open, yawning widely. Something had woken her up but she wasn't sure what. Stretching, she glanced to the other side of the nursery, checking on Fernpelts kits. They ahd all become extremely protective over the remaining three after Brackenkits disappearance. With a jolt she realised Laurelkit wasn't there, but neither was Yewchime so she relaxed slightly.
Heading outside, she was just in time to see Beaconsong yelling at Yewchime, before dashing off and leaving Laurelkit in tears. The white and lilac-brown female hurried over to Laurelkit, licking the little she-cat in between the ears comfortingly. "Its okay honey, yoru Daddy is just worried about Brackenkit. You didn't do anything wrong" she said to her, giving her a warm smile. Petaldance glanced up and met Yewchimes eyes. "You okay?" she asked, tail curling around her paws. [/sub][/blockquote]

Your tears don't fall y e w c h i m e__xx They c r a s h around me Beacansong's explosive reaction merely fluttered the fur on the she-cat, but her claws unsheathed instinctively and her tail curled around Laurelkit. She stared straight ahead wordlessly, quite used to such breakdowns when experienced with kits. Yewchime merely sighed heavily and shook her head. This directed her attention to Petaldance. "Yeah, I'm fine. He's just taking it rough...," the heavyset queen murmured. She ran a paw through her ruffled fur, shaking her shoulders. "I can't believe this is happening. Only a heartless rogue would steal a kit." She shook her head in disbelief before looking down at Laurelkit. "Where's Cacaokit and the others, love? How about you go play with them, okay? Auntie Petaldance and I could tell you stories if you prefer that."

laurelkit The fluffy tortoiseshell kitten pressed her small body against Yewchime, still sniffling under her breath. As Petaldance hurried out of the nursery towards them, she turned her peaky, tear-stained face to the other queen. "I want Brackenkit," she mewed. Her voice was not her usual whine, but a soft, desperate mew. The she-cat sniffed, her green eyes glistening with tears. At Yewchime's suggestion she hunkered down, pressing her chin into her forepaws. "I want Mummy to tell me a story." But after a moment she wiped her eyes with a silky white forepaw, and nodded. "O-okie dokie, I'll g-go and fetch Cacaokit and Willowkit." She padded obediently into the nursery, her pawsteps soundless due to her thickly-furred paws. The tortoiseshell kitten approched the sleeping forms of her brother and sister. "Wake up, Yewchime and Petlie want to tell us a story." Her wiped a running nose with her paws, sniffing in a repulsive manner.
