heartsleeves Heartsleeves awoke with a start. Except it didn't shock him anymore. He was used to it. Used to waking up from the same old nightmare, used to staring into the wickedly flashing eyes of his father, Fireweasel, all night long. The young tom pulled himself upright and groomed his lilac-grey coat. He was still shivering, and shame filled him due to this. Heartsleeves's clear sapphire eyes were troubled. No matter what he was doing, Fireweasel was always lurking at the back of his mind. Was he still out there, waiting to pounce? Did he still blame Heartsleeves for Chimethroat's death? Was it his fault that his mother had died? It was all so confusing! Heartsleeves sighed and left the den, his head down. He hoped not to catch anybody's eye. Heartsleeves didn't like speaking to others, not even other members of EclipseClan, for fear of getting too close to them. He was sure Fireweasel would pick off those he got close to. Just like his poor sweet Dahliapaw.
Heartsleeves padded mulishly over to the fresh kill pile and picked up a small mouse. He wasn't hungry - he rarely was - but he knew Phantomlight would have some lovely task for him to do, and he would need strength. And so Heartsleeves sat down and began to ear his meagre meal, just like yesterday, just like tomorrow.
Just like every day.
