Well, first of all, welcome to Black River Clans. [: I'm Shade. I created BRC.
Before I try and help you, could you tell me one thing? Have you read the warriors' books? I need you to answer this so I know how in-depth I need to explain BRC to you.

Do you know how the name system works, and the warrior code, etc?

No, no one ever explained that to me.

Well. The name system is quite simple. There are different ranks of cat in each clan, right? Let's use EclipseClan as an example. Their leader [the cat who commands them] is named Amethyststar. The first bit of her name is related to her appearance, but the second is not. The 'star' part of her name shows that she is the leader of the clan. Every clan leader has 'star' at the end of their name. For example MoonClan is led by Firestar, CloudClan is led by Stormstar and so on.
Are you with me so far?

Good. ^^
Okay, so you know about leader's names, but they are only one cat in the clan. There are many more! The second in command is called the deputy. He or she helps the clan leader to control to the clan. The deputy in EclipseClan is named Fernpelt. The first part of her name, 'Fern', refers to her description. But so does the second part, 'pelt'. Deputies can be named anything; Nightfur, Thistleclaw, Leafstripe, Skypool. They can be named after trees and nature (Birchpelt, Willowstripe). Sometimes they are named after animals or birds (Crowfoot, Voleclaw). They are sometimes named after other things, such as weather (Raincloud, Stormface) or colours (Redbelly, Yellowtooth). There are loads of things you can name deputies. Butterflywing, Specklefur, Minnowpool; all of these are valid.

Yes, I just need to learn all those names, there are so many.

Yup; there's loads more names than that.
So we've covered deputies and leaders. You now know what they do and how they are named. The next-most important cat in the clan is called the medicine cat. This cat knows all about the many herbs of the forest, and is an expert in healing his or her clanmates if they are injured or fall ill. Medicine cats are simply named; they too can be named anything, just lik deputies. The medicine cat in EclipseClan is called Littlefox.

Okay.
The next type of cat in the clan is called a 'warrior'. (Hence the name of the series'!) The warriors are the bulk of the clan; most cats in the clan are warrior. They hunt prey and fight for their clan, to protect their young, etc. Warriors are named in the same way as medicine cat's and deputies. A few warriors from EclipseClan are; Razortomb, Pantherstealth, Moonmist. Since you learn quickly, I'll tell you about apprentices, too. Apprentices are the next cats in the clan. They are young cats, only six monthes or so. A kitten is made an apprentice when they reach the sixth month (called a moon) of their life. They are named slightly differently. The first part of their name, for example, 'Raven', describes their appearance, as usaul. But the second part of an apprentice's is always 'paw'. So they would be Ravenpaw, or Waterpaw, or Grasspaw.

Yes, but if moons are months then what are days?

|
|
Post by SHADE. :D on Sept 30, 2007 11:41:26 GMT -5
The clans just call days days. I don't know exactly why. oo'
Okay, more information about apprentices. Apprentices are nasically young cats training to become warrior. So, when a kitten is made an apprentice, they are given a 'mentor'. A mentor trains the apprentice for the right amount of monthes, until he or she is ready to become a warrior. (Razortomb, a warrior in EclipseClan, is the mentor of an apprentice named Rosemarypaw.) When a apprentice is ready to become a warrior, the clan leader gives them their 'warrior name'. For example, Ravenpaw could become Ravenwing, Ravenfur, etc, or Seapaw could become Seawind, or Seacloud, etc.
Still with me?

Do I just make a bio under reply or do I just make my own thread? Does it matter what I name my cat.

|
Post by sorrowfrost on Sept 30, 2007 12:51:37 GMT -5
Create your own thread, no it could be any name that hasn't been used yet, so for example you couldnt use Sorrowfrost because I have it, but there is a Sorrowpaw(confusing though) but yeah so long as the name isnt taken feel free to use it, I have several I planned to use but never dd so if you nee one just PM me.
