Everything was going just swimmingly. She and Marbleglint seemed to be, well, a couple now. And she was loving every second of it. They didn't spend much time together... and come to think of it, he hadn't been around for the last few days... and she hadn't been able to really tell him that she loved him in that time... but he hadn't told her he didn't love her, so she was happy with that. Besides, she had been buried in warrior work. Patrols day and night, hunting trips in-between. She supposed that was why she had been coming down with a cold the last few days, so now she was waiting idly outside the medicine den. She really was feeling sick, but she was also secretly hoping that she could rub her new relationship in Harmonytale's face. Just a little bit.

The sun was high up in the clear blue sky - noon. Saffronclaw yawned lazily. Maybe she'd go finally track down Marbleglint after this. Maybe.

A round black and white figure exited the medicine den, almost tripping over Saffronclaw. Dawntale stumbled, sitting back on her haunches with a laugh. "Sorry about that, Saffronclaw," she mewed, getting to her paws again. She was finding it harder and harder to stand for any length of time with each passing day. She was not accustomed to having so much weight in her stomach. Dawntale glanced fondly down at her swollen underbelly, where her kits were living. Somehow, finding out that she was definitely carrying kits, and watching them grow, was erasing her sadness at Emeraldtalon's abrupt disappearance. Somehow, she had convinced herself that he would be back to see them be born - no doubt about it. The black and white queen smiled at Saffronclaw. "What brings you here, Saffronclaw?" she asked lightly, her midnight blue eyes curious.

Marbleglint was tired, so tired. Why? Why had he let himself go like that when he had been with Harmonytale that night during the snowstorm? Now she was pregnant, and it was his fault. All his fault. If she was seen in the camp, she would be shunned; she could lose her position as medicine cat apprentice that she loved so dearly, and it would be his fault. He wasn't really in love with her anymore, but he knew that it was his duty to care for her until she gave birth to the kits.

Kits, your kits...

The thought smacked at his mind. He winced slightly but continued to trudge into camp. It had been about four or five days now that they'd known. He hadn't spent much time with Safffronclaw, his love hat he knew and wanted to be with for as long as he lived and after that. He'd never really been the responsible one in apprenticeship, as shown by Harmonytale's pregnancy, but now he knew what he had to do. But he could let his former actions drag him away from the she-cat that truly needed him.

Marbleglint spotted Saffronclaw just outside the medicine den. Something flipped in his stomach. He hoped desperately that she was only sick (don't take that the wrong way; he was hoping she wasn't pregnant), but after what had gone on between them recently... "Hey Saffronclaw you feeling alright?" He strode over to her and Dawntale, brushing his flank with hers and licking her over the ear. His voice masked his fear and worry.

Saffronclaw jumped as Dawntale stumbled around her, but she didn't frown or snarl at the she-cat like she would have when she was younger. The out-there, excitable, quick-tongued she-cat she had been was still there, but she had learned to watch her mouth... besides, her expression softened when she saw the bulging stomach of the she-cat. Suddenly, something within her own stomach fluttered. What if she was...? With Marbleglint...? She smiled, but only a little. "Oh, I'm not feeling so good," she admitted, chuckling alkwardly. "You'd, uh, better not get too close. I don't want you to catch anything." Saffronclaw grinned at the she-cat.

Suddenly, she saw Marbleglint coming. Purring loudly, she ended up coughing as he approached. "Well, no," she admitted, smiling a bit. Did he think she was pregnant, too? He seemed nervous, but she rubbed her cheek against his muzzle affectionately. "You know Dawntale," she said, like she and the black-and-white she-cat had been friends for moons.

The she-cat turned as a cat padded towards them. She nodded a greeting to Marbleglint, smiling briefly at the tom. She noticed the affectionate way in which he greeted Saffronclaw. Dawntale felt a small pang in her chest. The younger tom was reminding her painfully of Emeraldtalon. She swallowed the memories, convincing herself that her mate would be back. He would be back, definitely. Dawntale eyed Marbleglint as he asked his mate whether she was alright. Something was going on here... Dawntale grinned at Saffronclaw. Maybe she was... Maybe she was having kits, too! The queen exchanged a glance with Saffronclaw. Dawntale took a small step back, just in case Saffronclaw was really sick and contagious - though she doubted it. Dawntale grinned at at the younger she-cat as she spoke to her mate. It would be good to have more company in the nursery...
