flaxfeather, pumpkinkit His steps thudded against hard earth as he ran back to camp, leading the patrol. Flaxfeather's pastel green eyes were narrowed with determination. The ginger tabby tom's tail lashed back and forth as he bounded forth. They had to hurry... Maybe they could still save Jaspersmoke. The terrible guilty fear in his heart doubled as he thought of the terribly injured warrior. Meteorkit and Pumpkinkit bounced around, hanging from his mouth. He was trying his best not to hurt them, but he could not protect them completely whilst running this fast. The fluffy tom skidded sideways, his paws throwing up dust. The camp entrance was in sight. Gasping for breath, Flaxfeather ran through, before dropping the kits in the long grass. "Leafblade, they're okay," he choked out, before dashing to the medicine den. "Cloudedsky? Cloudedsky? It's Jaspersmoke, he n-need's help! Now!"
Pumpkinkit squealed as he bounced from his father's muscular chest. The little white and ginger kit tried to make himself as small as possible. The surroundings flying past was making him feel sick, and the wind generated by his father's speed was stinging his eyes - so to conquer both problems, he shut them. The little tom tried to bury himself in happy thoughts. It would be over soon... And then suddenly, he was landing with a thlump in soft grass. The tom flailed for a few seconds, before gaining his paws. He looked around, disorientated and wide-eyed, then gave a wail. "Mummy! Mummy! Auntie Pecanshell... Mummy!"
A somewhat harrased face appeared in front of Flaxfeather. The slight, pale ginger tabby was of course Amberpool, medicine cat apprentice of BrightClan. "Cloudedsky isn't here at the moment," she told the warrior. Amberpool's eyes clouded with worry at Flaxfeather's words. Even as he spoke, she caught sight of the big tom's bleeding body being carried into camp. The medicine cat ran from her den, brushing past Flaxfeather. Amberpool hurried to Jaspersmoke's body, giving it a sniff. Blood was syill leaving his body. That was what was killing him. She pressed a paw to his chest. His heartbeat was there, but it was very faint. He didn't have much time left. Amberpool turned and darted back to Cloudedsky's den, seized a pawful of cobwebs and a mouthful of other likely herbs, then rushed back to the injured warrior.
It was the stink of blood curling through the ferns into the warriors' den that woke Mythshadows. The warrioress opened her indigo eyes, which were as clear as though she had been awake the whole time. The beautiful she-cat got to her paws and gave her short black and white patched fur a swift groom. When she had finished, it shone like brilliant sunshine. Mythshadows exited the den, her face expressionless. Her eyes immediatly fell on the prone body of Jaspersmoke. It was impossible to miss. The young warriores's cold mask slipped. Fear sliced through her gaze. "Father... No." ... amberpool & mythshadows

TORNADOCLOUD , LEAFBLADE His body, though strong and muscular, had a hard time carrying the the unconscious Jaspersmoke on his back. It would have been much better had they not been running so fast, but never could things be slow when a life was on the line. Tornadocloud glanced back quickly at the two cats behind him, watching Requimhaunt closely. Having her father on his back made it all the more important. No one should be without a father, he knew this well. Skidding into camp after Flaxfeather, the large tabby sprinted past the tom as he desposited his kits beside their startled mother. Crouching low, he let the tom slip from his back softly, then backed off. Sitting down on the edge of the den, Tornadocloud turned to clean his pelt. but stopped as he caught sight of Mythshadows. Edging towards the she-cat, he placed his tail on her shoulder. "He'll be alright, Mythshadows. Let's move so Amberpool can have the space she needs." He mewed, voice gentle before moving his steel blue gaze towards the orange warrior, tapping him on the shoulder lightly. "Come, let's see to your kits" His voice, still soft, said to the other tom.
Leafblade's eyes had been closed as she listened to the wind brush through her pelt. Soothing....the only thing she could find at the moment that was. Except Pecanshell's closeness...That seemed to calm her a small bit. As another gust of wind rushed by, so did an odd scent. One she knew an an instant. Blood....Her leaf-green eyes snapped open a moment before Flaxfeather sprang into camp, followed by Tornadocloud with another cat on his back. Her eyes widened as she stood, recognizing the cat. Leafblade's gaze shifted back to her mate as he raced towards her, dropping Meteorkit and Pumpkinkit. She lowered her head, nuzzling both, glancing up only with her eyes as the orange tabby bounded off. She'd find out what was going on later. Right now...she had two of her kits back. "Your both alright, Thank StarClan. Where are your sisters? Pheasantkit?" She asked, eyes gazing towards the camp entrance, willing for her other three kits to appear.
Pulling his fairly-large body in closer, Meteorkit bounced against his father's chest, along with the occasional bump against Pumpkinkit as the two hung from Flaxfeather's jaws. His eyes were clenched closed as he tried to go limp, but to no anvil. Letting out a grunt, his eyes flashed over as he was dropped to the ground in front of his mother and aunt. His eyes flashed from Leafblade, then to Pecanshell. Meteorkit took a deep breath, then turned to lick his pelt clean, not saying anything as his mother nuzzled him. The blood dripped from his orange fur, a long trail running the length of his back.

squirrelkit "Pumpkinkit, you're being loud." Squirrelkit's normally excitable voice was now hollow. She had run after Flaxfeather, barely able to catch up with him. He was a much faster cat but that thing that had attacked was sort of distracted. Now the tawny Bengal was now trudging over to Leafblade, mewing pathetically and feeling like absolute crap. She had gotten into trouble again but it wasn't just ending with Pheasantkit telling her off or Hyacinthkit growling at her. Jaspersmoke wasn't moving!
She suddenly heard a scream and the now dull-eyed she-kit poked her head out from under Leafblade. She wandered toward the nursery and saw Aunty Northrain yowling for Jaspersmoke. Squirrelkit hung her head and dragged her feet back over to her mother.
"Something's wrong with Northrain, Mommy," Squirrelkit said quietly. Oh, no, now everything was going wrong. This day was terrible so far. The normally-bubbly troublemaker stared down at her paws, feeling miserable.

pecanshell, pumpkinkit, amberpool Mythshadows's gaze did not lift from her father's prone form. Her lip was quivering slightly, as though she was trying to force back a scream. The black and white warrioress jumped as something touched her shoulder. The beautiful she-cat blinked at Tornadocloud for a moment or two, then wordlessly obeyed the tom's words. She approached her sister, pressing against Requiemhaunt in an uncharactistic show of anxiety. Mythshadows looked up, fear once more flashing through her indigo gaze, as she heard her mother's screams. What was the matter with her? Then it suddenly dawned on her. Her mother's kits. They couldn't be coming now... The young she-cat left Requiemhaunt's side and darted to the nursery. "Mother? What is the matter?"
Pecanshell's sapphire eyes flashed upward as the first sign of movement hit her vision. The slender ochre tabby gasped, her tail flying upright. The kits! The kits were back! Pecanshell ran forward, alongside Leafblade, giving each kit a frantic lick. "Oh, thank StarClan..." she murmured, her eyes raking the kits' small injuries. The warrioress exhaled in relief. Then her gaze fell upon Jaspersmoke. She felt as though a heavy weight had suddenly dropped into her stomach as she saw the faces of the tom's daughters. The she-cat lowered her eyes to the kits again, her expression unreadable as she pulled Cherubkit close to her snowy chest.
Pumpkinkit pressed himself into his mother's fur, breathing in her familiar scent. The white and ginger kitten ignored his sister, his muzzle pushed into Leafblade's side. He flattened his ears against the terrible sound of Northrain's screeches. The kit wanted to sink into the earth and hide, to run to his nest and bury himself in the soft moss. The voice that Squirrelkit had been complaining about seemed to die in his throat. He said nothing more, just stayed pressed against his mother, trembling slightly.
Flaxfeather licked his mate over the ear, his eyes wide. The ginger tom tried not to look at Jaspersmoke's body. It made him feel worse. He hoped against hope that Amberpool would save him. The big warrior jumped as a terrible scream echoed from the nursery, and Mythshadows streaked across the clearing to the nursery. What now? Flaxfeather looked down at his kits. He felt relieved and joyous that they were alright, but at the same time he felt guilty for feeling this. How could he be so happy when a cat was dying?
Amberpool began to press cobwebs to Jaspersmoke's wounds, desperately trying to stop the bleeding. The ginger tabby medicine cat gritted her teeth together. She didn't know whether she would be able to save him. He had lost so much blood... Amberpool began to chew up different herbs, laying them over the cuts and slashs. The medicine cat looked up in shock as she heard Northrain scream. Cold fear settled in her heart. The she-cat looked between the nursery and Jaspersmoke, until she noticed that the tom had gone completely still. She pressed a paw against his chest, frantically searching for his heartbeat. ... mythshadows & flaxfeather

LEAFBLADE, METEORKIT The she-cat wrapped her tail tight around Pumpkinkit, licking her son over the head, taking in his scent is low breaths, trying to sooth herself. Her eyes rose to look at her sister-in-law as she spoke, a small smile on her face before she turned towards her mate, pressing her muzzle against his. "I'm so glad you found them." Leafblade mewed quietly, moving her face to lick his ear, then pulled back as she looked over his body, eyes narrowing in concern as she noted his tattered pelt. She reached forwards, gently licking the wounds and drying blood. "Are you alright? Are you hurt badly?" The tortoiseshell asked, concern clearly in her voice as she looked up at Flaxfeather, her tail uncurling from around her son, then twining with her mates. Before she could ask anything else, Squirrelkit's voice came to her ears, dragging her away. She pushed Pumpkinkit towards his father, then padded towards the nursery, past Meteorkit, who was sitting beside the entrance licking his small, but deep wound to his side. "Northrain, it's alright. Take deep breaths" Leafblade murmured softly, then glanced out.
Meteorkit's ears flicked around, listening to those around him, eyes focusing on the wounds that were being cleaned on his body. Eyes raised to look at his sister at her voice, calling for their mother. His pastel green eyes watched as Mythshadows and Leafblade slipped into the nursery. His gaze flicked around before he slipped over to his father's side. Again, his eyes flicked back towards the nursery, raising an eyebrow as he heard his mother's voice.

The meaningless imagination The driving force that creates you Give it your whole body and soul
A heart-wrenching scream of "Jaspersmoke" ran in the din of the already-frantic camp. Then the nursery suddenly went silent. Northrain lay on the nursery floor, blood flowing nonstop from her womb. A single kitten struggled to crawl toward her, his gray pelt matted and still somewhat covered in afterbirth. The usually-strong queen was too weak to even move. Each breath shuddered through her. The other kittens were strewn around lifeless, drowned and stillborn. Dull turquoise eyse stared up at Mythshadows.
"Is your father okay?" She smiled softly. "Will I see him?" The blue-gray queen laid her head on the ground weakly. She seemed totally oblivious that she had just given birth.

pecanshell, pumpkinkit, amberpool The ginger tabby medicine cat pressed her small paw into Jaspersmoke's fur. She could hear nothing but the rush of blood in her ears. She moved her paw all around the tom's chest, even up his side, but found nothing. Her face fell. Amberpool stepped back, her eyes saddened. She hadn't been able to save him. The young medicine cat turned around, her gaze swiping over the crowd. Her eyes rested on Requiemhaunt. "He... He didn't make it," she mewed gently. "I'm really sorry, Requiemhaunt." Amberpool seemed to cast around for something to do, something to do to avoid intruding on the she-cat's greif. Her eyes fell on Leafblade's kits, and she rushed towards them, hastily administering medicine to each one.
Pecanshell watched as Amberpool patched up her friend's kits. The tabby's gaze lifted from the five young cats, to rest on Jaspersmoke's tattered body. She shut her eyes. It was such a waste. She wondered why StarClan had decided to take the tom's life when he had so much to keep him here. The ochre coloured she-cat opened her eyes, her gaze returning to her nieces and nephews. At least they were safe and well enough...
Pumpkinkit blinked as his mother disappeared. He snivelled for a moment, before wandering over to Pecanshell and sitting on her forepaws. "I don't get it, Auntie Pecanshell," he mewed in confusion, sounding tearful and annoyed. The kit wondered briefly what Amberpool's words meant, before deciding that she was just strange. The little tom allowed her to look at and sort out his wounds, before pressing his little body against Pecanshell again.
Flaxfeather shut his pastel green eyes as Amberpool turned around and spoke to Requiemhaunt. No, it couldn't be... Guilt seemed to choke him. This was his fault. If he hadn't rushed in, if they had had a plan... Maybe... He had a mate, and children; more on the way... Flaxfeather watched his mate disappear into the nursery, and dully guessed that she was going to comfort Northrain. The ginger tabby tom switched his gaze onto his kits, his relief at theit safety somewhat ruined by the untimely death of Jaspersmoke.
Mythshadows watched, her eyes shocked and fearful, as her mother gave birth. The black and white she-cat's eyes darted from kit to kit. They all seemed to be dead. But for one... The warrioress shut her eyes, her paws shaking slightly. Mythshadows opened them only when her mother spoke to her. The she-cat wet her lips. "I... I'll go and see," she mewed quietly. The beautiful young warrioress left the nursery, her eyes falling on the solemn scene. Mythshadows's gaze rested on her father's form. Still. Bloody. Nobody was looking after him, nobody was tending his wounds. Which meant... "Father," the cry was choked out. Tears sprang to Mythshadows's eyes, but rather than falling, they stayed there, glistening, somehow making her seem prettier than usual. Mythshadows crouched low, her whole body shaking. He was dead. He was gone. ... mythshadows, flaxfeather

The meaningless imagination The driving force that creates you Give it your whole body and soul
As Mythshadows left, Northrain's absent smile continued to spread across her face. She sighed softly and lowered her head, suddenly feeling extremely warm and light. She was going to see Jaspersmoke again; she could feel it. They were going to be mates forever... The massive queen suddenly stood up, feeling energy pulse through her. She was...floating. Northrain looked around and stared at her paws, then at herself, then at the ground, where a little gray kitten struggled to be near her. He was mewling and whimpering so pathetically. Northrain hovered above him, licking his fur gently until it sparkled. She pushed him near to her, only to find that her paw went though him. The massive queen sighed and turned away from him, looking at the other kittens.
"Come, kits," she called, nodding her head to them. Three little spirits rushed up from the corpses on the ground and padded after her, tumbling and playing as they chased after Northrain's fluffy tail.
The blue-gray queen walked out of the nursery, inhaling the sweet air that blew right through her. She walked past her Clanmates without a sideways look, prefering to find the love of her life.
"Jaspersmoke, honey? Where are you?" She looked into the nursery, her brood happily pouncing on her tail. She saw Mythshadows inside; why was she crying? Jaspersmoke was fine. He was going to meet up with her... The wispy-haired queen looked even more ethereal then. "It's time to go. We'll be late."

mythshadows, jaspersmoke Amberpool lifted her eyes from the kits. All five were well enough, their wounds patched up. She could do nothing about the terrible memories, though. The ginger medicine cat glanced at Jaspersmoke's body, her eyes darkening slightly. The she-cat then remembered the terrible screams coming from the nursery with a jolt. Northrain! Amberpool ran through the crowd, brushing past the shaking Mythshadows to enter the nursery. Her tail bristled fiercely at the scene before her. The great queen was covered in blood, her kits strewn about her. She sniffed each one; all were dead, but for one, which stirred feebly. Amberpool padded over to Northrain. "Northrain, it's alright, relax," she mewed, nuzzling the blue-grey queen. Northrain was immobile, as though she had given up. Amberpool frowned. The she-cat had not responded at all to her touch. "North... rain?" Amberpool's eyes darted to the queen's flanks. They were not moving. No... No! Northrain couldn't be dead too! She couldn't; it was too cruel!
Mythshadows felt the cold tears finally leave her eyes, slipping down her face to land on her paws. She cried silently, perfectly, her features wracked with grief. The black and white warrioress did not move until Amberpool rushed past her. That was when she remembered what she had said to her mother. With great effort, Mythshadows straightened up. She padded across to her father's body, and pressed her muzzle into his neck fur. She inhaled his familiar smell, and felt a gut-wrenching pang. He was dead. "Goodbye, Father," the words were a tortured whisper. The beautiful she-cat then turned on her heel, crossed the clearing, and slid into the nursery. She eased her way past Amberpool, not looking at the medicine cat. "Mother, I... I... Father... He's..." The she-cat looked sideways at Amberpool. Why did the tabby look so shocked, so saddened? Was it the dead kits? No... Her gaze was fixed on Northrain... Mythshadows looked at her mother closely.
She wasn't moving.
Mythshadows's eyes widened. Her limbs shook like leaves in a storm. "No; please," she whispered. The she-cat stared at her mother's body, as though the mere force of her gaze would animate it once again. "Please... I'm dreaming..." The black and white she-cat flattened herself to the nursery floor, pressing her face into her paws. She had to wake up. Any moment now she would be lying in the warriors' den, laughing at her own stupidity.
It was his mate's voice that did it. That woke him. Rising from his body as though it had been nothing but discarded clothing, Jaspersmoke smiled his soft, gentle smile at Northrain. His eyes strayed to the kits behind her. He understood. It was their time. They had to leave. Northrain was the only cat looking at him. He could see Requiemhaunt, Flaxfeather. But none of them reacted to him or his mate. Jaspersmoke padded forward and licking Northrain's ear. "I'm here," he mewed, his voice as deep and reassuring as it had been in life. "Let's go." ... & amberpool

requiemhaunt
She had stood completely oblivious, seeing and hearing the other cats whirl around her. Flaxfeather had screamed that Jaspersmoke wasn't dead. They had carried him back to camp. Her heart had been beating, beating so fast. Her mind had been a whirl of different scenarios. Could Amberpool save him? Could he pull through? How would her mother react? What about her siblings? Her sister, her brother. Requiemhaunt had never been so scared in her entire life. When they dropped off the body, she was reluctant to move from Flaxfeather's side. But he ran off to see his mate and to deliver his kits.
She had been moved out of the medicine cat's den to give her father space, but everything was just so... it was just so scary. She didn't know if she could handle it. All around her, Requiemhaunt could hear the shrieks and sounds of camp- Northrain's piercing yowl, Leafblade's relieved purrs, Mythshadows' desperate call. Jaspersmoke... Jaspersmoke... Jaspersmoke... She longed to go in and see him, but she was scared of what she might see. His body had been so bloody, his breathing so shallow.
When Amberpool came out, her whole body began to shake.
I'm sorry, Requiemhaunt.
Her knees buckled underneath her and she found herself sobbing the same word over and over again. "Dad... Dad... Dad... Dad dad dad daddaddad..." her muffled sobs became wordless as she collapsed onto the ground, unsure of anything else but her father's death.[/blockquote]
