.hauntedstorm. Each pawstep was silent as the tom traced the camp's clearing. Every now and then, a cat would exit a den and nod in greeting if they happened to see him, but otherwise, the camp was deserted today. Glancing up at the midday sky, it was clear to him why so few cats were present. Several had left for patrols and hunting parties. Today, he hadn't been assigned anything for the sunhigh expeditions. Since he seemed to be alone, he decided to enjoy the silence while it lasted, before the kits awoke from their naps.
Padding over to the fresh-kill pile, he smirked at the relatively well sized kill they had found. Not too long ago, the pile had dwindled to barely anything. It hadn't even been enough to feed their own clan! Today, as the weather was warmer, many small animals would out and about, searching for food themselves. Selecting a nice-sized mouse for himself, he scampered over to the shaded area near the warrior's den and began to tear the creature apart, slowly and surely.
Pausing, he glanced around the clearing once more, hoping for some company while he ate. Perhaps a pretty she-cat that had not been sent on a patrol. That would be lovely company for a handsome tom such as himself. Twitching his tail slowly, side to side, he yawned softly.

Cactustail
The tom stumbled into the camp, his fur shaggy and his eyes tired. Cactustail made a ruckus as he walked over to where Hauntedstorm was. He smiled crookedly at the tom as he picked out a piece of prey and sat down. "Helloo," he stretched out his O with a dramatic pursing of the lips. He had been up half the night trying to catch a piece of dinner.
Hope hes not angry or anything... the sleepy warrior thought, he had always hated silence but some cats seemed to like it! Actually love those awkward pauses between words, and, 'peaceful,' days such as this. Cactustail couldn't bear taking a breath between what he was saying let alone sit quietly! Sometimes I wonder about my Clans sanity! He would have muttered something along the lines of his thoughts but cactustail caught himself--Hauntedstrom would be confused if he started talking to himself.
The friendly and very loud young warrior sat down to do one of the three things that he did not talk during, in this case--eating.

.hauntedstorm. At the sound of the crash, Hauntedstorm's head turned toward the entrance of his camp. The scent of the cat hit his senses long before the crash did, so he knew they were far from being under attack by an opposing clan. Wearily, he eyed the other tom as he approached, before placing a smile upon his face. Of course Cactustail would enjoy company like Hauntedstorm would, so it only seemed right for them to chat.
The greeting rested in the air, the drawn out 'o' causing him to laugh softly inside his own mind. "Hello, Cactustail." Nodding his head softly, Hauntedstorm greeted his fellow warrior. He did not know him well, as he was moons younger than himself. The age difference wasn't dramatic, but it was enough to prove few meetings or discussions with the other. Perhaps this was good then, for them to get to know each other better. It could help if he ever turned against them.
"How's the day going for you?" The question was simple, yet could have caused the most in depth conversation he'd ever had. Each time he asked it, he knew what he could be getting into, but each time the cat had always given a simple answer. It was probably all for the best. In depth conversations were nothing for warriors with duties.

Cactustail
"Aw what day? I haven't done anything--just slept which I guess is a pretty good start to the day, how about you? Sitting out here all alone..." he smiled and laughed because why wouldn't he? Cactustail was a very happy tom and he wasn't one to silently brood over anything. Cactustail was a party guy. There was no dark side to the world, as long as people were there to keep you company Cactustail knew anybody would be fine!
Hauntedstorm was a young warrior just entering middle-agedness. He should enjoy being young a little younger... older cats ached and broke so easily, the ones who hadn't payed when they were young regretted it and the one who did play missed it. There was no way to win but you could stall the empty feelings by just enjoying life in the moment.
Jeez I'm thinking a lot for being so tired! he thought and found he didn't think his thoughts made sense... what had he meant?

.hauntedstorm. Maybe there was a reason he'd never gotten to know Cactustail. The tom seemed to be insane. Sleeping until noon? Maybe he'd been out late last night, on a patrol. Maybe even he'd been up at dawn. Either way, there was something strange about the easy-going tom. Perhaps it was because he was so young. Warrior life would hit hard when something devistating happened to the clans.
"Today has been boring for me. I haven't left for any patrols, and I'm hoping to be assigned the dusk patrol at least." Hauntedstorm leaned down to take a bit of the mouse he'd been savoring. It was nice to have food like this for the clans again, and there was no doubt he missed it.
"I hope the day stays so nice. It'd be a shame for it to start raining before night hits." Hauntedstorm's voice was soft as he mused over the weather. The sound of rain at night always calmed him, though he knew it upset all the other cats, and sometimes scared the kits.

Cactustail
He looked at Hauntedstorm and raised his eyebrows, Cactustail wasn't stoopid. He recalled a rumor about Hauntedstorm always going out when it rained. Cactustail didn't think the sensible tom was dumb enough to do that, but he might be a weird one... His name is Hauntedstorm thought reasonably. Names were given for reasons, Cactustail had his for the spiked tail he had had since birth.
The young warrior laughed, "Sounds very boring and harsh--waking up for Dawn Patrol," Cactustail shook his head and grimaced. The time he had been forced out into the forest on a ridiculously cold Leaf-Bare morning with only Nighthawk, an old huffy-puffy Senior Warrior, and a spiteful she-cat had been a nightmare. At the time, Cactustail had been just made a warrior and he had dreaded waking up the next morning for another patrol like that. But then I discovered the fake-out, most young cats knew if you acted dead on your paws when you got back to camp, and made a big show of getting to sleep, then refused to be awake the next morning, sometimes you could get out of a Dawn Patrol.
Hauntedstorm was strange, Cactustail decided he liked him but he was strange--the rain-loving, dawn-getter-upper, cat was fun to think about. Wonder what he'd do on an Island that was always sunny, with tons of chatty cats, and always the middle of the day... Cactustail thought humorously.

.hauntedstorm. Tearing another bite from his mouse, Hauntedstorm barely glanced up at the other tom. How could he dislike the dawn patrol so? It had been rare for him to find any cat who would refuse to go on the dawn patrol with him. Every warrior, young and old, wanted to serve their clan in some way, and they were happy to be able to do anything they could.
"Actually, I quite enjoy the dawn patrol. It's refreshing to awaken so early and be able to serve my clan as such." Hauntedstorm yawned widely and picked at the remains of his mouse. After eating so little all winter, the small creature he'd just savored filled him nicely. Stretching, he yawned contently and licked at the fur on his shoulder.

Cactustail
"You're a morning bird Hauntedstorm," he chuckled, "I rather hunt when the sun is high and stay out till the Nightly Patrol, I'm a night owl." Cactustail had heard something about how different cats where morning birds and night owls. An Elder had claimed the early bird caught the worm but it seemed silly. Anyways they were cats not birds and it was stupid. he cocked his head, the other warrior seemed confused and slightly annoyed with him.
He might be a bit crabby but he's true and loyal to his Clan the spike-tailed tom thought. There were few other warriors so dedicated to their Clan as Hauntedstorm to CloudClan. It made Cactustail happy to see somebody genuine in his Clan.
ooc- epic fail but it does the job, tell me if you think you need more to work with ^^

.hauntedstorm. Turning his head to look at the tom, Hauntedstorm smiled. "I am a morning cat. My mother used to tell me so, often." Within his mind, his thoughts bounced as he recalled memories of his own mother. It had been far too long since he'd seen her face. Many moons had passed since she'd lived within her mortal clan. Now, he was glad to know, she lived within the ranks of StarClan. There was no doubt about where she had gone; she had been too much of a kind she-cat not to have been allowed there.
Shaking his thoughts of returning memories, he focused back onto the other tom. "So you don't like the morning much? Why not?" His gaze was curious as he tilted his head to the left and began to lick his paw to clean his face while he listened.
»OOC: It's fine. If you need more from me, just say so as well.

Cactustail
Cactustail was puzzled, why would you like the morning? Loud birds, kits, hub-bub and work to do... then again why did he like the night. Not knowing how to answer the other toms question he answered why he liked the night. "Well, every cat needs sleep and I rather be doing that till noon. The night is so... magical, and fun! I feel so very alive but even closer to StarClan. The twinkling shards of light up there, the moonlight... its," he couldnt describe it. "Why besides it being quieter at night to we ave our Warrior Vigil under the stars? Theres something so very warrior-like about the dark time. You should join me and a few other younger warriors for a night patrol and then we hunt. The small pile of slightly warm prey you wake up to every morning is our gift to the Clan," he explained. Besides keeping them safe from the dark, of course they fed the cats like Hauntedstrom too!
Im deep the young tom thought humorously, for his words had sounded so right to him. Cactustail had finally expressed his feeligns and was very proud. He puffed himself up and haughtily looked around as if hoping the whole Clan would pop out and salute him suddenly.
