tawnysky & mayakit Her steps were furtive as she slipped from the camp, nudging the five smaller shapes before her. Tawnysky shot a guilty look over her shoulder, back into the CloudClan camp. She was sure Dewstep had been watching her more closely than usual lately. She felt nothing but pain and shame when she thought of everything that had transpired between her and her sister. She didn't want to talk to Dewstep. The queen sighed, counting her kits quickly. Yes, they were all there. A soft smile passed over her face as she looked at them. At five moons of age they had grown so much. Crisiskit and Bearkit were becoming muscular, Bramblekit lean and wiry, and Periwinklekit and Mayakit were already starting to look so pretty. Tawnysky couldn't wait for her mate to finally meet them... The she-cat hastily trotted on, keeping her kits near her. The Tall Reeds loomed before them, where she halted the little group. This was where she had agreed to meet Eaglecry.
Mayakit trotted grumpily after her mother, her pretty head drooping and her sapphire eyes dark with annoyance. Every time she tried to ask questions, her mother just shushed her. The kit was not used to being treated like this. A pout blemished her obvious perfect features. Mayakit tossed her head as Tawnysky finally stopped. Her curiousity burst its bounds once again. "Mummy, why are we here?" she whined petulantly.

crisiskit
The small silver tom padded along obidieantly behind his mother, leading the way for his smaller sisters. He shot a slight glance at Bearkit, the young tom's colour-blind eyes transforming his brother's pelt into shades of grey. Everything was either white, grey or black. But it didn't scare him. Black was comforting. Black was the first thing he had sensed when he had been born. Now, turning into his mother's fur as it blackened his vision was one of the most comforting things he could do. But he wasn't going to do that now. He had to be brave, for his siblings. He could tell that they were confused, so Crisiskit decided to act strong, just for them.
But his plans were shattered when Tawnysky stopped and Mayakit finally voiced the question that had been hanging over them. He couldn't stop himself from adding to it. "Yeah, mom? Where are we? What's going on? Are you okay? Mom!" the words flew out of him, worry making the kit's eyes expand in the rare case that maybe there was something wrong with their mom. Maybe she was a spy! Yeah, that was it. She was the coolest spy ever and she was going to teach her kits that. "You gonna teach us how to spy, mom?"
He looked around at the reeds, wondering if they were still on CloudClan territory. Somewhere inside the tom, he knew it was wrong to spy on others, but it was still exciting.[/blockquote]

periwinklekit. Unlike her wary siblings, Periwinklekit was completely calm while skipping alongside her mother though CloudClan territory, not at all phased by the ominous reeds that they had stopped beside. A smile was permanently plastered on her face as she hopped around her mother's paws, otherwise silent. But when her siblings spoke, she figured she'd better, too, or else maybe they'd yell at her again. Yelling was not fun. "Dun' worry Mummy. I don't care if we're spyin'. I'm having fun 'neway," she grinned up at her mother, sitting down to rest but getting distracted by a reed that had been bent down by the strong CloudClan wind. She pounced on it, but it slipped through her paws and snapped back into it's place, high out of her reach. She jumped and swiped at the reed, falling down each time. Finally the young kitten got tired, yawning and curling up into a ball at her mother's paws. "Gunna go to sleep now..." she mewed, pushing her nose into her paws. [/blockquote]

tawnysky, mayakit & bramblekit Tawnysky sighed as her kits pressed her, Mayakit first, then Crisiskit. The queen shut her green eyes, trying to calm herself. Of course they didn't understand. And it was her job to explain it all to them. The brown and white patched she-cat opened her eyes. She looked into Mayakit's sulky face. "Okay, shush, kits, and I'll tell you," she mewed softly. Tawnysky turned to look at Crisiskit as he spoke, sounding vaguely worried. She nuzzled him affectionately. "I'm fine, Crisiskit," she mewed gently. The queen laughed as Crisiskit spoke again. Spying? How did her little son get such ideas in his head? "No, Crisiskit, I'm not a spy," she mewed, trying not to laugh. As Perwinklekit tired, curling up, the she-cat nudged her daughter upright again. "There'll be time for you to sleep later, Periwinklekit," she mewed quietly. Tawnysky took a deep breath. "I've brought you out here to meet your father."
Mayakit looked at Crisiskit sideways, her sapphire eyes disdainful. Spying? Their mother was a spy? She didn't want to be a spy. It would involve walking through more icky green stuff. Mayakit shuddered at the thought, peering distastefully down at her dusty, usually gleaming white paws. The dark brown tabby kitten stared up at her mother as she finally told them why they were so far away from the camp. "Our father?" Mayakit mewed, wrinkling her nose as though they were talking about something quite disgusting.
Bramblekit was similarly curious, walking around Bearkit in circles. Her face carried a look of deep impatience. The little brown tabby she-cat blinked at Crisiskit as he spoke of spies. A look of excitement crept across Bramblekit's features. "Spying? Cool!" The striped kitten padded from paw to paw eagerly, now anticipating some new adventure. When Tawnysky spoke, she looked vaguely disappointed. "Our dad?" she mewed blankly, as though the thought of meeting him had never occured to her.
// I'm going to act Bramblekit while Spice is away; because she'll need to meet Eaglecry too. ^^

bearkit "Stop walking in circles, Bramblekit. You're getting annoying," the she-kit's twin brother grumbled, and his golden eyes flicked over to Tawnysky. He was upset that he couldn't have slept longer, his mother persistent on getting her son awake and out of camp. Ears flicked forward slightly, listening to the conversation that his mother and his brothers and sisters were having. "A spy!? I doubt our mother would be a spy," he muttered bitterly under his breath, his bad mood apparent. Flicking his striped tail, golden eyes then stayed fixed on their mother. They were to meet their father today? Smirking, the striped kitten pushed himself up, and breathed in deeply. Finally, the got to know who their father was. eaglecry This was where she wanted him to meet her, right? Flicking his ears cautiously, the MoonClan warrior crept along CloudClan's territory, wondering where his mate was. Suddenly, her scent, along with five slightly familiar ones caught his attention. Moving his way slowly through the foliage, Eaglecry finally appeared before the six cats, his ears flicked back. As soon as his eyes caught sight of Tawnysky, a wide smile appeared. "It has been a while, Tawnysky," he said, his tail swaying behind his speckled body. Taking a few steps forward, he paused, blue eyes going to the kits around her. "These... these are them?" His eyes swept from one kit to the next, then looked up at Tawnysky. They sure had grown. His heart ached, and a pained look ran across the tom's face.

tawnysky, mayakit & bramblekit The brown and white patched she-cat sighed at her kits' responses to this piece of news. They didn't seem very excited; but perhaps that was to be expected. The queen froze as a familiar scent drifted towards her. The scent was of MoonClan, and so should have set her fur bristling. But Tawnysky knew this scent very well. Her green eyes softened as her mate padded from the bushes. Her Eaglecry. Finally, he was going to meet their kits. Tawnysky smiled at him. "It certainly has," she mewed, thinking of the last meeting they had had - back at the Gathering. And that hadn't been the best of meeting places. Their conversations had been whispered, and of course they weren't allowed to act like mates in front of their clans. Tawnysky nodded at Eaglecry's question. She could see the pained look in his eye, and swallowed a lump in her throat. He had missed so much of their youth... But now was her chance to make up for that.
Tawnysky began to jab her tail in the direction of each kit in turn. "This is Crisiskit," she mewed, as she gestured towards the little pale-coated tom. "Periwinklekit," she poked her tail in the direction of their mottle-coated daughter. "Mayakit," Tawnysky pointed a paw at the pretty chocolate tabby kit. "Bearkit, and Bramblekit," she gestured towards the brown tabby twins. She turned to look at Eaglecry, almost nervously. "Our kits."
Mayakit frowned as a scent drifted towards her. Ugh! It was worse than the icky scent of the green-ness around her. The slight kitten wrinkled her nose, her sapphire eyes filling with irritation. "Ugh, Mummy, what's that smell? Can't we go home?" she begged, stamping her white paws in the dirt. Mayakit looked up as another cat appeared, and the smell was explained. The kit peered up at the cat. This was her father? Mayakit blinked up at him. "Are you my Daddy?" she demanded of him.
Bramblekit grinned sheepishly at her twin brother as he spoke to her. "Sorry!" The brown tabby kitten began to pace instead, wanting to keep her paws busy. So, meeting her father was not the adventure she had been hoping for, but it was something! Bramblekit batted at her nose as the new smell hit it, though she did not complain aloud, unlike Mayakit. As Eaglecry appeared, Bramblekit's face lit up. She padded back to Bearkit excitedly. "That's our Dad!" she mewed breathlessly, casting glances at the tom.

periwinklekit. The little she-kit sneezed as her mother prodded her up, although she hadn't really been sleeping. She was a bit slower with her reaction to the news than her other siblings - as she usually was - but she finally mewed, "Huh? We've got a daddy, too? I thought that was just the other kits! Us, too?" Her periwinkle-blue eyes were wide as moons as she gazed up at Tawnysky. When the odd-smelling tom appeared, though, she only put two and two together when her mother introduced her. This was her father! She gaped. She stared. And finally, she smiled.
"Daddy! You are my daddy, right?" the mottled kitten didn't wait for an answer. "Wow, daddy, you've been gone for so long! I dinnit even know I had a daddy, did'ya know? Well, I know now, but -- Well, now you can come back and I can be with my daddy!" Poor Eaglegry. Poor Tawnysky. Poor kits. It was obvious that Periwinkekit had no idea that her father could not - must not - come home with them. [/blockquote]

bearkitGolden eyes stared at Eaglecry as his mother introduced the kits to him. Claws dug into the dirt, and his face held the look of hate and anger. "Shut up, Bramblekit," he hissed, and swiped his paw at her face to get her to stop talking. Golden eyes never turned away from his father's face, his whiskers twitching ever so slightly as he breathed out. Periwinklekit's voice jolted him from his stare, however, and his golden eyes went to his sister. Why were his siblings so freaking excited about meeting a tom, who, by the smell of it, wasn't a CloudClan cat? eaglecry Ears flicked slightly, as each kit was introduced to them. "They sure have grown since the last time I saw them," he said softly, the pain still shimmering in his eyes. Was this really the right thing to do at the time? Flicking his tail, the tom smiled, gulping away the pain, and stood up, walking over to Tawnysky. He pressed his nose into her cheek, and then turned to the kits. "Yes, I am your father. I'm sorry I've been away for a while. I've - " he paused, and sat himself down, paws shuffling the ground slightly. Eyes went to his paws, as he listened to Periwinklekit. "I'm sorry, Periwinklekit, but I can't go with you guys back to your camp. Not now, not ever. I would, if I was allowed, but the circumstances don't allow it." He looked at his daughter, and tilted his head slightly. Blue eyes then went to Tawnysky, the question of if they should tell them the whole truth shimmering in the depths of blue.

crisiskit
Crisiskit's face fell slightly when his mother told him there would be no spying. He sighed, tired of sitting in camp and doing nothing. Why had Tawnysky taken them out, then? He was about to ask when she continued, telling them about their father. Crisiskit's jaw dropped, adrenaline pumping through him. This was gonna be even more exciting! The first thing he was aware of was Periwinklekit's bubbly voice. He turned to her, golden eyes narrowed slightly. "Don't be silly, 'course we have a dad," he told her in all seriousness, despite being the one who had suggested spying. He froze suddenly as another cat came up behind him. The tom turned as Periwinklekit began to babble.
His first thought was just how bad this other tom smelled. But there was something about his face and the pained looked in his eyes that made Crisiskit's heart go out to him."You're our dad," he said simply, to reassure himself more than anything. "You're really our dad..." he spoke with a sort of puzzled wonder. "But then... But then you can't come home with us, can you? You would if you could but you can't and that's why mommy's sad and no one knows about you because they can't know, right? You're our daddy but you can't tell anyone..."[/blockquote]

tawnysky, mayakit, bramblekit The queen winced at Periwinklekit's words. This was exactly what she had been afraid of. She had tried to push away the thoughts, creating images of an easy meeting, with no questions. But of course that was not reality - this painful, awkward meeting was reality. Tawnysky leant down and licked her little daughter between her pointy ears. "Daddy can't come home with us, sweetheart," she mewed, trying to keep the worst of the pain out of her voice so as not to frighten her kit. The brown and white she-cat was comforted by Crisiskit's mature way of thinking. Tawnysky turned to look at her mate, aware that he was feeling just as much pain as she was. She caught the question in his blue eyes, and felt a thrill of fear. She knew that, at some point, she was going to have to tell her kits that their father was a warrior of MoonClan. And then... Then it would be their choice whether they remained in CloudClan or tried their luck with their father's clan. She didn't want to lose them! Tawnysky shook her head vigorously. Not yet!
Mayakit blinked up at her father, padding around him in a circle, but still keeping her distance from him. She placed her white paws in a particularly slippery patch of mud and slid down, face first into the filth. Mayakit sprang up, shaking herself. "Ugh, ugh!" she sobbed, her slender frame quivering. "Mummy, I hate it out here! Can we go home now, please?" Her eyes glistened with tears as she looked up at her mother, before their sapphire depths switched onto Eaglecry. She began to gingerly wipe her muddy paws on a clean patch of grass, sniffing.
Bramblekit frowned at her brother, ducking away as he swiped at her face. She would've liked to retaliate, but Bearkit looked really mad. She wondered why. After a moment she shrugged off the thoughts and turned wondering eyes back onto her father. She noticed the frantic exchange between her parents, and looked curiously from one to the other. She rolled her eyes at Mayakit as her sister slipped in the mud. "No, I don't want to go yet!" she complained. The tabby padded boldly closer to Eaglecry and looked up at him. "I'm Bramblekit! Do you like playing hide and seek?" she asked, her face quite serious.

bearkit & eaglecryBearkit stayed his distance, his golden eyes staring at Eaglecry warily. Paws shuffled the slightly soft ground, and he glanced at Mayakit and her clumsiness. Shaking his head, he then caught the blue gaze of his father. He kept his eyes away from his father's, glancing over at his siblings in an attempt to shake the uneasy feeling that was sitting in the pit of his stomach. Flicking his tail, the kit sighed, not really saying anything. What was there to say? "Well, as a warrior, I'd say I don't really play hide and seek, Bramblekit. But when I was younger I used to play that with my sister all the time," he smiled, and his blue eyes sparkled as he thought about when he was younger. Standing up slightly, he crouched down, ears flicked forward. "If you want to play, just say so." He smiled, and flicked his tail slightly.

periwinklekit. Her wide blue eyes dimmed as her father spoke to her about how he couldn't come home with them - how he could never come home. "Never?" she whispered, her voice breathless, as if some great weight had knocked the wind out of her. Periwinklekit was the first to believe that this was her father, and also seemed to get attached to him the fastest (she was also the one who thought they didn't have a father, but that's not important right now). Periwinklekit's little mouth twisted into a frown, her eyes now watering with tears. "B... but why? Why, Daddy? Why can't... Why can't Daddy come back with us? Why, Mommy?" She sniffled and sobbed and cried for a while. Then Bramblekit spoke up.
The brown-and-white she-cat looked up timidly, from Bramblekit to Eaglecry and back again. "I like hide and seek," she meowed quietly, pulling herself up into a sitting position, blinking tears from her eyes. "I like it a lot." [/blockquote]

tawnysky, mayakit & bramblekit Bramblekit listened carefully to her father's answer, as though determined to get to know him properly. It was just like meeting a new friend to the kit. The skinny little tabby looked elated at Eaglecry's offer. "Really? You'll really play it?" she mewed in amazement. Adults never played games with them! Bramblekit turned to blink in shock at Crisiskit and Periwinklekit. She noticed that her twin was wearing a wary look, which made her feel uneasy. She wondered whether to ask him what was up, before Periwinklekit dragged her attention away from Bearkit. She looked into her sister's tearful face. "Hey, yeah, Periwinklekit can play too!" She jumped from paw to paw excitedly, a grin on her mouth.
Mayakit watched her siblings in disgust. They were so pathetic. Hide and seek was for babies. Mayakit pawed together a pile of dry grass and sat on it stiffly, her back straight and her nose raised regally. She eyed Periwinklekit with distaste as she began to cry. "Get over it, Periwinklekit," she sighed, lifting one of her white paws and giving it a lick. Being rude to her brothers and sisters came so naturally to her that she didn't think to tone it down in front of her father.
Tawnysky padded across to Periwinklekit, and gave her smallest kit a gentle lick between the ears. "I'm sorry, sweetheart, he just can't," she breathed, her green eyes pained. She hated to see her daughter in such distress. Her expression cleared slightly as Eaglecry began to talk to Bramblekit, who was probably the boldest of her kits. Bearkit and Mayakit were remaining standoffish, but that didn't surprise her. Tawnysky gave Periwinklekit a little nudge. "That's it, why don't you go and play with Daddy and Bramblekit?"
