mambapaw
To anyone passing by the tom, he would have looked bored. Well, actually, they probably wouldn't have, since no one would have noticed him. The dark brown tabby apprentice was tucked into the darkest corner of the camp, the thorns of the wall brushing against his matted pelt. He was munching on a small squirrel, eyes vacant. He was thinking about something else. His mind was elsewhere, among the clouds. That's where it was most of the time now. It was rare for him to socialize, though he wasn't one of those dark and angry cats who spent their time thinking about life. No, Mambapaw was just day-dreaming. Nothing more. Cats often misjudged him, seeing him as some bitter apprentice.
It wasn't that Mambapaw was disliked, it was just that he had a certain habit of blurting out whatever was on his mind. It usually resulted in making either him or the cat he was talking with, and often both of them, uncomfortable. So while he was talked to and tolerated, Mambapaw wasn't exactly liked. He just prefered to be on his own. Still, being alone wasn't exactly exciting. Sometimes he liked the peace, but most of the time he was kicking himself for being such a doormat. The older cats didn't mind him, though. He had been the kit that sat with the elders instead of playfighting. He had listened to their stories, only leaving when Goshawkpaw had dragged him somewhere to go play.
Mambapaw admired his friend. The broad-shouldered tabby had respect for everyone and always stated his mind, though he did it in a way that commanded respect, unlike Mambapaw's shy murmurs. But lately Goshawkpaw had been chasing after a certain she-cat, or spending time out by himself. It wasn't like Mambapaw talked to him often, but there was always something comforting about the other cat's presence.

periwinklekit. The day wasn't as cold as it had been for the past few moons, so Periwinklekit - who was quickly outgrowing the nursery, almost ready for apprenticeship - was playing outside, amusing herself by stalking a leaf. She jumped on it and giggled, then jumped away and gasped as it got gusted away by the wind. This cycle would repeat with multiple different leaves until the little brown-and-white she-kit saw something much more interesting than a leaf. A little grasshopper, which were not uncommon on the grassy CloudClan territory, was perched not far from the edge of camp. Perwinklekit gaped. "What a weird little buggy!" she exclaimed, jumping towards it.
But the grasshopper didn't need the wind to carry it away. It jumped just out of reach of Periwinklekit's outstretched paws and landed another few mouselengths away. Sticking out her tongue in concentration, she leapt again, only to find that when she landed the grasshopper was even further away. She jumped, it jumped, and finally Periwinklekit found that she had caught something beneath her paws. But this was not a grasshopper.
"Oh, oh, oh!" she gasped, tumbling backwards as she realized (a few heartbeats late) that she had landed on top of Mambapaw. Her blue eyes boggled as she took in the cat that was half-hidden in the thorns. "Wow! You're, like, invisibibble! I dinnit even see you!" Periwinklekit gasped, smiling brightly. [/blockquote]

mayakit The smaller, softer shape of Periwinklekit was closely followed by Mayakit, her dark, rich chocolate brown tabby fur shining in the weak sunshine. Her white paws and stomach shone like freshly fallen snow, and her eyes like the deepest waters, as always. But Mayakit had retained her rose-like personality - for she was a beauty to look at, but never to touch. The slender kitten rolled her eyes expressively at her idiot sister. Mayakit marched over to Periwinklekit, her ears folded back. "Oh, Periwinklekit, do you insist on being such a boring baby?" she moaned, her sapphire eyes glimmering with something like impatience. Mayakit gave a very loud, blustery sigh and tossed her sleek head. There were no toms to taunt, no younger kits to pick on... Just her dumb sister and some dull apprentice...

periwinklekit."Hey! Mayakit! I am not a boring baby! You're so... you're so... uh..." it was like she was reading from a bad sitcom script. Periwinklekit's mind drew a complete blank for a few heartbeats before she came back to finish that sentence. "...mean You're such a meanie, Mayakit!" She turned to face Mambapaw again, her bottom lip jutting out as she pointedly ignored her sister. "So, whattarya doing here? Are ya playin' hide n' seek? No one ever wantsta play dat game with me, 'cause they all say that I don't hide good enough or sumfin'." She clawed the ground, bored.

mambapaw
The dark brown tabby had been staring into this distance, barely noticing when Periwinklekit padded out of the nursery. He saw her vaguely out of the corner of his eye and watched silently as she proceeded to play. His ears twitched, the ghost of a smile entering his eyes. Some of the kits were pretty adorable, he had to say that. He put his head down against his paws, sighing as he shut his eyes. He never expected to feel the form crash into him. Resisting the urge to jump up, Mambapaw opened a golden optic and saw that it was just Periwinklekit. His sigh of resignment was then replaced by a rather sheepish look as she asked him why he was alone.
"Well, uh," he started, not sure how to explain it. When Mayakit came out and distracted Periwinklekit, he was somewta grateful for the heat to be shifted off of him. He really did get into bad positions- he wanted so much to the liked, but he couldn't say anything without the risk of it being wrong or embarressing or just plain awkward. When Periwinklekit snubbed her sister and turned back to him, Mambapaw was a little bit more ready to respond.
"Nah, I'm not playing hide an' seek or anythin' like that," he said cheerfully, voice quiet and gentle. "I was just lying out here, it's nice sometimes. It really sucks that people won't play hide an' seek with you. People won't play it with me either," his voice trailed slightly as his eyes flickered from Periwinklekit to Mayakit and back again.[/blockquote]

mayakit & jasminekit Mayakit stared witheringly at her sister as she struggled to search for the right word. She laughed her high-pitched giggle at her sister's chosen insult. She rolled her sapphire eyes as Periwinklekit turned back to the apprentice, who seemed to be eying them apprehensively. Maybe she could have some fun here. She smirked at her sister. "That's because you don't hide properly," Mayakit mewed smugly. "I mean, how many times do I have to tell that you can't hide under a leaf, dumby?" Mayakit sat down, grooming her snowy paws idly. Ugh. CloudClan was so dull. Nothing ever happened here.
A small, but very fluffy ginger shape came pottering out of the nursery after the two sisters. Jasminekit's huge azure eyes fixed on Mayakit and Periwinklekit. She shuffled paws in worry. She liked Periwinklekit, but Mayakit could be really mean, like Taigakit... Jasminekit took several hesitant steps towards the three cats. She looked at them almost fearfully. Eventually she plucked up the courage to pad forward. "I... I'll play hide and seek with you... If you want..." Jasminekit looked shyly at Mambapaw. She was always bashful around cats she didn't know.

taigakit "Why the hell would he want to play hide-and-seek with you? I'm sure he was doing perfectly well ogling women, like me." A smirking Taigakit was in the rafters of the nursery, eyeballing Mayakit lecherously and sticking his tongue at her. He seemed to come out on cue, always following Jasminekit around so that he could taunt her at every possible moment.
The gray kitten floated in and out of sight among the darkness and cobwebs and other nasties up top in the nursery roof but soon his head poked up from the top in a hole, and he crawled out with the limberness of smoke. He grinned shark-like down at the three girls and Mambapaw, jerking his head in greeting to the older tom. He laid down then, starting up his voyeurism project to find she-cats so that he could compare their beauty to Jasminekit's nonexistent one. However, he did keep an ear out on eavesdropping.

jasminekit & mayakit Jasminekit's ears folded down as the familiar snide tones drifted towards her from the nursery. She turned to look at her brother, though she already knew who had spoken. Her blue eyes carried hurt, and her lip trembled as she looked at him, but when she spoke, it was with an attempt at anger. "L-leave me alone, Taigakit," she mewed without much conviction, fighting the tears that were shining so obviously in her eyes. "I'll play with whoever I want." Jasminekit turned away from Taigakit, feeling quite proud of herself. But when her eyes travelled back to Mambapaw, she flushed under her fur and looked at her paws. Taigakit was probably right. Why would they want to play with her? Living with her brother's constant snide remarks was lowering Jasminekit's opinion of herself every day. The fluffy ginger kit shuffled her forepaws awkwardly, refusing to look up.
Mayakit eyed Jasminekit scornfully. They travelled over the kit's childishly fluffy coat, before she tossed her head so that her own sleek fur caught the light and gleamed. She peered over her shoulder as a voice hit her ears. She blinked at the grey tom that was Taigakit. His words made her smirk. "It's rude to stare," she reminded the tom, but she didn't sound as though she cared in the slightest as she peered up at Taigakit, her pretty face lighting up.
