cormorantfeather xxxxxxxxxxxxx He was settling in the stars, the forest covered stars of the endless reaches of StarClan. He'd been watching over Dewstep and her troubles with her dead mate, Oleandergaze, who he talked to on a regular basis now that he was a StarClanner. He kept an eye on his other daughter, Tawnysky, as well, as she fell in love with a MoonClanner named Eaglecry. He hoped that their relationship worked and that their kits would be alright... Speaking of cross-clan relations and kits, he also did look after Rosemarypool, Stonesky, and Cloudsteps. Often in the skies, he looked for Brokensoul and Lonelyheart. Somewhere in his heart, he still wanted to make things right. He still loved Lonelyheart, but not as a mate. He still cared for her and when he found out that she died and was taken by the tribe before coming to StarClan, he was quite upset. Lemonzest often spent time with him and she had been there to greet him when he arrived in StarClan but today, he didn't know where she had gotten to. So as Cormorantfeather walked the skies, watching his Clanmates live below.

lonelyheart xx
Lonelyheart had just come back from visiting Rosemarypool with Brokensoul. She had been almost delighted to hear that Cormorantstar was her father, but became disapointed when Lonelyheart had said he might not want to see her. She hadn't meant to hurt her daughter's feelings, but was only being honest. Cormorantstar had been the one who had turned his back on them.
That reminded her. Rosemarypool had asked Lonelyheart that if she ever saw Cormorantstar, to ask him if he would walk in her dreams. Lonelyheart thought she never would, but she couldn't say no to the femme.
Lonelyheart slowly weaved between the trees, not bothering to keep track of where she was. When she finally stopped, she realized that she was lost in part of the forest she had never gone to before. She growled to herself, and took out chunks of dirt with her claws, a habit she had had since she was alive. She looked around at the trees, but couldn't remember how to go back.
Suddenly, she saw something in the corner of her eye. She turned to face the figure, who was coming towards her. A flicker of recognition sent chills down her spine. Could it be...? Cormorantstar?

cormorantfeather xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cormorantfeather wasn't sure if he regretted turning his back on Lonelyheart and their kits. Of course, he felt horrible about it and he wished he had never caused any cat such pain as he caused Lonelyheart. He'd been a jerk and Lonelyheart didn't deserve that. But now seeing their kits, Rosemarypool and Brokensoul especially and how they turned out... The cats that they were beginning to love or loved... Sighing softly, he realized that if he hadn't of loved Lonelyheart, then those kits, those wonderful cats would've never been brought to the world. He did wish he knew them better... They wouldn't want to know him, though.
Padding stealthily through the moonlit forest, his now massive full grown thick muscular body gleamed in the pale light. He hadn't looked this magnificent since he'd been leader. When he died, he was a meager substance of nothingness. So thin and frail and lifeless that he had to be lucky to have gotten his muscle back. He missed climbing trees and running so fast that he could barely breathe. Smiling slightly, he looked up as if to start running again but then he stopped dead in his tracks.
Lonelyheart! He recognized her anywhere and he white pelt was glowing so bright in the StarClan light that it almost blinded him. He knew it was her, she hadn't changed since the day she took a life from him. His dim blue/gray eyes never looked away from her as he remembered why he'd fallen in love with her in the first place. But no, there was no spark left, just the horrible memory of what was and what he'd done. It was all his fault. "Lonelyheart... I-I..." he stumbled through her name, but couldn't say anything else... It wouldn't come to him.

Lonelyheart swore that her heart stopped for a moment. And just when she was thinking about him... He appeared out of nowhere... Oh, it's been so long... She sank down ackwardly, and fell on her heels.
Two emotions bubbled up from the bottoms of her brain. The first was hatred, a hatred so great it made her want to claw him once more, like that day when he told her they couldn't be together. She hated him for doing that to her. It was because of him that she had almost killed herself. It was because of him that her kits grew up with no mother and no father to watch over them. It was because of him that she had gone to the Tribe, she was sure, because she had carried such a great burden because of what he had put on her. It was All. His. Fault.
But, then again, a sweeter feeling boiled up and purged the fire from her. And it was nothing but plain, old love for him. She still loved him. She was glad that they had kits together. She had had a few moons of bliss when she had been with him. And when left her, it must have been to protect her...right?
Everything began to spin, and she fell back into the dirt. She could feel the dirt in her white furm and imagined how ridiculous she must look to him...
Oh, Cormorantstar...

cormorantfeather xxxxxxxxxxxxx "Yes... Yes it has been long."
His grave voice echoed through the almost empty never ending stretch of forest. He seemed very sad as he watched Lonelyheart process it all and he could almost feel the tension rubbing off on him and the hatred glow in her familiar eyes. She still hated him. That was understandable, since Cormorantfeather hated himself for what he had done to her. He knew it was all his fault that these things happened to Lonelyheart. He did not know that she almost killed herself, but he did know that she had his kits and then went to the Tribe, probably because she had so much hate for him inside her. It made him sad to think that one could hate him so much, but he knew that she had a right to. He had not been a gentleman to her in the past, so he would make up for it.
But Cormorantfeather did notice that the tension left and that made him relax a bit more. The dark gray tom did wonder if she still loved him and if she was thinking of the good things that happened between them. The kits, hopefully, were a good thing. If they never were mates then those kits would've never been born, so really there were good things about what happened to them... It just ended badly and Cormorantfeather wanted to fix that.
Suddenly, Lonelyheart fell back into the grimy dirt of the forest floor. Shocked and worried, he went over to the white feline. No, he wasn't worried that she was dying, since they were already dead, but he wanted to make sure that this reaction to seeing him wasn't a bad reaction. Cormorantfeather wasn't sure if he was having a bad reaction to seeing her again either. Now that the tension was gone and his former mate was resting in the dirt, he'd gained his voice a bit... "Lonelyheart... I never meant to hurt you... That's why I had to leave you..." His voice trailed off as a gust of wind blew past, carrying the rest of his sentence right along with it.

Lonelyheart's deep blue eyes fluttered. She heard the patter of his pawsteps, and suddenly his face appeared over her. He was asking for her forgiveness... But would she give it?
She closed her eyes for a moment, and icy tears seeped from her eyelids. Maybe you didn't mean to... but do you know what you've done to me? A rush of emotion made her heart pump faster. It rang loudly in her ears, but it only fed her hatred. Do you know what you DID? Her voice became shrill, and it sailed above the treetops. I almost commited suicide because of you! And then, I went to place that was lower than hell, where I was hyponitized by a crazy evil cat who made me kill my own son! All because you said goodbye! She began to sob now. She rolled over onto her side, away from Cormorantfeather. Her tears fell from her cheeks and onto the dirt. Her shoulders shuddered, and her whole body shook. What he had did to her hurt so much...

cormorantfeather xxxxxxxxxxxxx Her voice... That screeching shrill voice that she'd used when he told her that they couldn't be together. It brought back the memories of that hard choice he had to make. But no, Cormorantfeather did not know she almost killed herself, nor did he know that she killed their son... But, the fact that all this happened to her hit him hard in the gut. So hard that he fell back on to his haunches and his front legs were the only thing keeping him from collapsing. Knowing that he had hurt a cat so much, and one that he loved, made him feel like a life had just been ripped away. Over and over again. Cormorantfeather knew what that felt like.
"Lonelyheart, you must listen to me," his strained voice was barely audible but he knew that she would hear him. "Do you understand what would've happened if I hadn't said goodbye? My whole Clan knew about us, okay? They would've hurt you and the kits because they weren't listening to me. I had to act quickly, since I couldn't let you get hurt. Lonelyheart, you've got to understand that I didn't want to say goodbye but I had to. I didn't know you would've had to go through that pain afterwards... I should've known... I just didn't want my Clan to hurt you or the kits." He was pleading now, lifting his head to look at her back that was still turned to him. His dim blue/gray eyes, shining in the StarClan light were glossy with tears as he tried one last attempt. This time his voice was a whisper, so raspy that he felt like he had just had a life taken away. "Please, Lonelyheart, please... I care about you. I love you. Maybe not like before... But I can't stand you being hurt like this... Please...

Lonelyheart's sobs quieted as she calmed down. Be rational. Listen, The voice in her head cooed. She slowly sat up, and rubbed the tears away with white paws. She brushed away the dirt, and turned to her past mate with a sad face. Her pupils had grown huge, and the blue irises were given a new shine with the coat of tears that covered her eyes. I think I understand, Cormorantfeather. She swallowed hard, and took a deep breath. I love you, too. She blinked and looked down at her paws. But there's one thing I still don't get. She looked up again. Her face had hardened. Why'd you get a new mate? The dead warrioress almost suddered in disgust as she remembered her name: Lemonzest. Bleh. Gross. She wiped her mouth, and hoped she hadn't made a face for real.
