Fernpaw Rowdy; Loud; and Proud
A young ginger apprentice bounded into the den, her dazzling green eyes glowing in the darkness of the apprentice's den. Fernpaw felt the Bliss and joy of life surging through her paws, and she couldn't wait to be assigned her new mentor. Being the only one in the den, there was ample room and she sniffed around until she found an uninhabited den. Loneliness overcame her happiness and Fernpaw felt her nerves in the pit of her stomach.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

nymphkit She hadn't left the nursery for a while. As Nymphkit exited the thicket, her small white paws planted in the slush, she looked from side to side. She could pick out the exact spot where her mother and her father had lain, dead. Nymphkit sniffed, fighting back tears, her ice blue eyes glistening with pain. The mental wounds had still not healed - and she doubted that they would any time soon. Nymphkit blinked as she spotted movement inside the apprentices' den. She began to pick her way across the clearing towards the den. She was six moons old - she'd be moving there soon. Somehow, it didn't feel right without her parents. Nymphkit pushed into the ferny den and blinked at the cat before her. She remembered watching the ceremony... Fernpaw, or something like that. "Hello," Nymphkit mewed in her grumpy, petulant tones.

Fernpaw Rowdy; Loud; and Proud
A small sound came from the entrance and the young apprentice whipped her head around only to see a little kit there. " Hi Nymphkit." Fernpaw replied, the lonliness vanishing from her eyes. The ginger cat sat up quickly and streched out her agile, long legs and padded over to sit beside the kit. She neatly sat down and wrapped her long, fluffy tail around her paws.

nymphkit The small white kitten blinked slowly at Fernpaw as the apprentice greeted her. She wondered whether the other she-cat still had her parents. She inhaled and exhaled in a quick sigh, then turned her head to look at Fernpaw again, her ice blue eyes growing more curious. She was, after all, an inquisitive kit, parents or no parents. "So, what's it like being an apprentice?" she asked with interest, her stubby tail quivering. Leaving the nursery could only be a good thing, in her opinion. First of all, she could escape the choking memories of how her mother had groomed her, cared for her in there, how her father had come to visit her, had answered to her every demand, had mopped her and comforted her when she fell over and scraped her paw... Second, she could get away from Hornetkit, who was still trying to convince her to toughen up. Nymphkit squared her little shoulders and sniffed.

Fernpaw Rowdy; Loud; and Proud
Fernpaw smile down at the questioning kit with a dazzling. " Well, it's pretty cool, but you have to chores like cleaning out the elder's bedding, and taking care of their ticks." She spoke not from personal experiences, but from what she was told by older apprentices. Her hazel eyes darted to Nymphkit's and she noticed pain and sadness. What could possibly be wrong? She wanted to ask, but she feared that the kit would only feel even more pain and sadness. Fernpaw finally placed her tail on Nymphkit's sholder and spoke softly " Are you ok?" nymphkit && marinepaw The kit listened to Fernpaw's words, her nose wrinkling as she spoke about cleaning out the elders' den. Maybe she'd get Forestkit to do that for her. She hated the thought of touching the old, disgusting bedding that elders had been lying on for days... Cringing, Nymphkit blinked up at Fernpaw. The white kitten noticed the apprentice's expression change. She shrugged away from Fernpaw's touch. "I'm fine," she assured the older she-cat, her ice blue eyes wide. The young cat looked at her small paws for a moment. Luckily, the arrival of a third cat saved her from more awkward questions.
Marinepaw slid into the apprentices' den, stretching out her hind legs as she went. Her sleek dappled coat gleamed, even in the gloomy weather. She beamed at the sight of Fernpaw and Nymphkit, as though she were happy that she had somebody to talk to. "Hey!" she mewed brightly. Marinepaw trooped to her nest (which was a little bedraggled) and began to prod it back into the perfect shape. After a few moments of this, Marinepaw sat down heavily on the moss. "Dawn patrol," she mewed, as though that should explain everything. The usually fairly shy she-cat did not mind being open around Fernpaw and Nymphkit - she knew them pretty well.

Fernpaw Rowdy; Loud; and Proud
Fernpaw listened to her quick answer and felt doubt but shook off the feeling. An awkward silence came over them and was grateful when Marinepaw walked in. " Hi Marinepaw" The apprentice's voice melodic and bouncy- like all of her greetings. I don't care how tired I am.. I cant wait to join my first patrol.. thoughts buzzed in her head but she quickly snapped back to reality. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

marinepaw && nymphkit The tortoiseshell apprentice smiled at Fernpaw's greeting, her eyes aglow. She loved the fact that many of the apprentices could talk to her this easily, and didn't look down on her because she wasn't quite as clever or good-looking as her sisters. Marinepaw felt the building knot of frustration in her heart tie itself a little tighter, and knew that it would probably burst pretty soon, as it had done twice before in her life. But she still buried it deep within herself. Marinepaw noticed the glitter of excitement in Fernpaw's eyes as she mentioned the dawn patrol, and blinked at the younger apprentice. "You'll look forward to the first one," she mewed. "But getting up early get's old after a while." The she-cat yawned, stretched, and shook herself, before padding to Figpaw's nest and giving it a sniff. Her sister hadn't been there for a while.
Nymphkit continued to look down at her paws, sensing Fernpaw's doubt and not wanting to deal with another awkward question. The small white she-cat blinked up at Marinepaw, her ice blue eyes slightly resenting the tortoiseshell's bright attitude. She mumbled a greeting, but didn't listen to their conversation. She glanced over at the nursery, wondering if anybody was awake yet. Sometimes, kits could be more fun than apprentices.
