floodgate__. and it's when the contours of society break and d r o w nMouse brain. That's what you are. You're the biggest mouse brain that I've ever seen. I can't even believe how dumb you are. You're going to get caught. She's not going to even see you. This was a mouse brained idea. You won't get past four tail-lengths of the border to SerenityClan. Floodgate's inner voice screamed at him as he padded along. He was bordering the Hollow as he padded towards EclipseClan territory, every hair on his pelt raised as the grey tom was expecting danger. Somehow he had managed to corss all of SerenityClan territory without being caught. Somehow he was closing in on the EclipseClan border. Somehow, the tom was going to wait until Rainbowpaw found him. It was a mouse brained idea, but the tom was going to pull it off anyways. It wasn't everyday that you found such a special she-cat.
"Rainbowpaw?" the tom's voice was soft as Floodgate crossed in EclipseClan territory. Once he realized that he had talked aloud and that his words were hanging in the misty air over him, Floodgate clammed up. It had been only a few nights since the ceremony and Auroradance's death. Not enough time for him to become infatuated with a she-cat, much less fall for her. What was going on? Everything was so crazy, and he was going to get caught. Caught and punished. Cringing, Floodgate continued to pad around. Deciding to risk one more call, he mewed quietly. "Rainbowpaw" [/blockquote] ooc|| reserved for mouse with rainbowspirit. Flood still thinks she's an apprentice.

*Rainbowspirit* Rainbowspirit... Even though she was named a few days before, she couldn't stop saying her name over and over again. When she would wake up in the warrior den she would first think that she was in huge trouble for being there, but then quickly remembering that she too was a warrior. It took so long but it finally happened. She was a warrior. And this was her third hunting patrol as a warrior.
She opened her muzzle to taste the air when a familiar scent reached her. It tasted of BrightClan... and something else. 'No. It couldn't be... could it?' She remembered that scent from her accidental trip into the BrightClan territory. Floodpaw. She shook her heading thinking that the apprentice couldn't be here and she was just tasting something she wanted to taste, her mind made up the whole thing.
Yet when she tasted the air again the scent was still there and as strong as ever. Something else also hit her ear. Her name. Someone was calling her name. She rushed through the bushes, almost making as much racket as a badger with a thorn in its paw until she suddenly ran into the side of another cat. Siting her self up she recognized the dark gray tom. "Floodpaw!"

floodgate__. and it's when the contours of society break and d r o w nFloodgate shook his grey head in despair, his long whiskers twitching. She wasn't coming. Obviously, she wasn't coming. Why had he expected her to come find him? She was probably off somewhere else, not in this insignificant corner of the territory. He might as well just go up to the EclipseClan camp and ask for her. He would be in trouble either way. Floodgate's green oculars pierced the undergrowth, but there was no sign on cat life anywhere. A mouse scuttled by, but he ignored it. He would be in even more trouble if he hunted on EclipseClan territory. Just as the grey tom was about to give up hope, something fluffy crashed into his side.
Taken by surprise, the muscular warrior teetered, but the impact hadn't been that great and he retained his balance. A cat had found him. He was going to be in so much trouble, and Ghostlystar would never forgive him. He turned, wincing, only to see- "Rainbowpaw?" his voice was incredulous. She called his name them, and Floodgate caught her. "Not Floodpaw! Floodgate! I'm a warrior now, Rainbowpaw!"
It didn't occur to him that she might be a warrior too. [/blockquote]

*Rainbowspirit* "No, I'm a warrior now, like you. My names Rainbowspirit." She told him as she stood up and backed away to give him room to get up. It was clear that she was happier then the last time they had met in the BrightClan territory. She looked around and scented the air to make sure that no other warriors were around before flopping down on her rump to talk to him.
"Don't take this the wrong way, I'm happy to see you, but what are you doing here, Floodgate." She loved the way his name souneded, the way he looked at her, that way the wind blew his fur... she knew that she felt something for him, and no matter what anyone else would say... she felt love for him.

floodgate__. and it's when the contours of society break and d r o w nFloodgate took a minute to regain his composure as the ginger she-cat spoke. Licking a paw and drawing it over his face, he managed to look incredible seductive. The effect was ruining as he licked his muzzle and gave Rainbowspirit a wide-eyed look. She plopped down and seemed distracted for a moment, giving Floodgate time to think up a witty answer. It was more difficult with Rainbowspirit than it was with other she-cats. Why, the long-haired grey tom wondered, why is she different? As unanswerable as that question may have seemed, the truth was that it was the same answer as to why he had padded all the way over here. As to why he had risked Ghostlystar's wrath just to talk to the she-cat. He coughed slightly, before drawing a twinkle into his eyes and putting a purr in his voice. "Rainbowspirit? That's a lovely name. It suits you."
He hastily licked his chest fur, looking away from her inquiring eyes. She was right, of course. He shouldn't be here. He shouldn't have come. But the grey tom just couldn't help himself. As silly as that sounded, as mouse-brained as it seemed, it was true. There was just something about the depths of her eyes and the sound of her voice that kept drawing Floodgate back. There had been so many times he had wanted to pad to EclipseClan, but the grey tom had stopped himself. Now it seemed like his less rational side had gotten through. "I guess I want'd to see how you were doin'. I mean, you were pretty upset the first time we met, yeah?" his mouth felt dry and Floodgate swallowed, aware of how empty his words sounded. *Rainbowspirit* The ginger she-cat start to feel something inside of her, like some kind of strange feeling that she had never felt before. It reminded her of what one of her friends described to her one time when they had a crush on someone and it just grew when they talked. Rainbowspirit felt that way as Floodgate told her that the name suited her and then went on to saying that he was checking up on her after the last time they met.
"I'm alright. Better then last time... but me and my brother... I don't know. We just kind-of fell apart." The smile faded from her face but no sorrow entered her voice. She sounded mostly like the way she felt. Like she was past it all, ready to move on and put everything behind her. "He's happy, though. Him and his girlfriend got back together and its only a matter of time before the kits come." A smile once again appeared on her face as she spoke about her brother. Things may never be right between them again, but at least he was happy.

floodgate__. and it's when the contours of society break and d r o w nThey sat away from each other, watching carefully. Floodgate met her eyes with his own lime owns before shuffling closer to her. He could almost feel her breath and hear her heart beating. It was a sensation that sent shivers down his spine as he realized what it meant. He was feeling something for this she-cat, something that he hadn't felt before. Floodgate still didn't want to admit it to himself, but he couldn't think of another reason for travelling to EclipseClan to check on her. Rapidly licking his fur, he looked down at the ground. The smooth way his voice sounded had disappeared in her prescence, and the tom was appalled to find that he was nervous. The feeling frightened him. Realizing that she was probably waiting for his answer, Floodgate looked up while carefully avoiding her eyes. "Hmm?"
"Oh, Puzzlepaw- er, I guess he's a warrior now, yeah?- has a mate? Pre'y young for one, don't you think? Ah well. An' what about you, Rainbowspirit, you ha- ugh, sorry- you have one?" Floodgate choked over the words, his fur prickling from embarressment. He was never like this with the BrightClan ladies. [/blockquote]

*Rainbowspirit* The she-cat didn't notice Floodgate scooting closer to her as she thought about her brother and how happy he was with Brackenfire now. She knew that it would only be a matter of time before they told each other those three little words. Suddenly Rainbowspirit relized that Floodgate started speaking and noticed that he had moved from where he was. Still, she really didn't mind it. Her head told her that he was getting too close, but her heart told her head to shut up.
"His warrior name is now Puzzleheart. And him and Brackenfire haven't really told each other that they like each other, but its only a matter of time before they do." she told him. Rainbowspirit almost laughed at his next question, but she merely shock her head, humor was in her voice as she spoke. "No I don't have a mate. No one can put up with me, my friends can hardly stand me."

floodgate__. and it's when the contours of society break and d r o w nFloodgate looked down, his whiskers tickling her muzzle. He licked his muzzle nervously, hoping he hadn't slobbered on her at that moment. He drew a paw over his head, quickly fussing over his chest fur. His green eyes glinted with a guarded concern. Talk about awkward questions, Floodgate thought. He sighed, his tail lashing through the warm air. The silence was so thick that Floodgate could have cut it with his claws, even when Rainbowspirit talked about Puzzleheart. Floodgate sucked in a deep breath, his heart fluttering as he prepared for her to respond to the rest of the question. What had compelled to ask that? Floodgate didn't know. He wished he had never met this she-cat. Yet everytime he closed his eyes she floated before him... He wouldn't have wanted to miss out on something like this, even if it meant being disloyal to his Clan.
Then Rainbowspirit laughed and past if off as a joke. Part of Floodgate rejoiced that the awkward pressure was off, but another part of him was sad that the question hadn't lead to further intimacy between them. "I don't find you annoying," Floodgate told her quickly, briefly pressing his muzzle to her neck. Then the tom laughed and forced a dazzling look into his eyes. "I don't have on' either. Fogwolf says that it's 'cause I'm too much of a player, but I 'unno. Just haven't found the righ' one, yeah? [/blockquote]

*Rainbowspirit* Rainbowspirit had half hoped that he would have a crush on someone else but still, almost let out a sigh of relief when he mewed that he didn't. She just merely smiled at him, breathing in the scent that clung to his pelt. Sure, it was the smell of an enemy Clan, but it was his scent and she liked it. She hoped that she would never forget it.
"I think we all are waiting for that special someone to reveal themselves. The one that we know will be able to spend the rest of our lives with." She mewed to him when she noticed that the sun was starting to disappear over the tree lines. But she decided not to mention that to him yet. She just wanted a few more minutes with him.

floodgate__. and it's when the contours of society break and d r o w nFloodgate watched her out of playful green eyes, taking in her appearence and scent. She was wonderful- so wonderful. The tom nodded thoughtfully as she talked, but the fluffy grey warrior didn't hear a word she said. His mind was full of other thoughts as he watched the sun go down. The tom didn't know that this was the eve of Ghostlystar's death. The tom didn't know that upon his return his sister would be mourning the death of her beloved. No, Floodgate was too preoccupied with Rainbowspirit. If he was going to keep seeing her, then there was something he needed to tell her. "Rainbowspirit," the tom began softly, meeting her eyes before looking down quickly.
He cleared his throat, unsure of how to say this. "I- I really kinda like you. But-" he stopped to look up and meet her gaze. What was the slender tabby thinking? "I really like you, but I don't want to do anythin' just yet... I just wanna get to know you bett'r. D'you- d'you feel th' same?" [/blockquote]

*Rainbowspirit* The she-cat smiled as she heard him say her name. The way it rolled off his tongue just sounded so... right. Then he told her that he liked her and her heart fluttered inside of her chest and it felt like it was about to explode right then and there. She knew that she liked him back... but what about her Clan? What about the cats there? Her brothers and sisters. Parents. Friends. She had looked back at the forest for a moment and imagined what she would betray if she loved this tom. But when she turned her gaze back to meet Floodgate's eyes she knew what was right to do for her. Nothing was really close to her in EclipseClan anay more.
"I like you too." she finally said as she turned her gaze to Floodgate. She couldn't help but smile at him and at the thought of meeting him again. "I'd love to see you again soon, but now I think its time for us to return to our Clan's. Its going to take you a while to get back too BrightClan."

floodgate__. and it's when the contours of society break and d r o w nFloodgate's heart pounded as he awaited her response. His legs trembled with the enormity of what he had just said. What about his Clan? What about BrightClan? Would he really give up everything just to be with this one cat? Floodgate cringed internally, but then he looked up as Rainbowspirit prepared to deliver her answer. All the tension in the grey tom's body flooded out with a huge sigh of relief as she told him that she liked him. A rumbling purr burbled up insdie the lithe tom's body. He licked his fluffy chest fur in embarressment, but it didn't last long as Rainbowspirit continued. Floodgate ducked his head as she spoke, knowing she was right.
"Your righ', Rainbowspirit. It is gettin' pretty dark out. Guess I should be headin' back, huh?" Floodgate mewed. He took a step forwards, barely hesitating. Then, with an act of courage, he reached forwards and licked the side of her muzzle. He nuzzled her slightly, pressing his fur against hers briefly before stepping back. "Guess I'll be goin' now. Bye, Rainbowspirit!" he meowed softly over his shoulder as the tom turned and padded away back towards his own Clan. [/blockquote]
