dawnpaw Even in slumber Dawnpaw looked sleek. Her black and white fur was shiny and well-groomed, as always. She had always liked to keep clean. Not because she was vain, not in the slightest - it was because she was born as a kittypet. Dawnpaw was sleeping. Her eyelids had shut over her dark blue eyes, the very hue of the sky on a late summer evening. She was comfortable. But her sleep was taking a turn for the worst. She had been dreaming of becoming a warrior of MoonClan, then the deputy, then finally, leader of MoonClan. But as she was opening her mouth as Dawnstar, the ground opened up in a gaping chasm and she fell...
In the darkness she flew downwards, fur whipped back, eyes stinging. Voices whipped at her, some she recognized, others she did not. You don't belong here! You're just a kittypet! Once a kittypet, always a kittypet! Run back to your twolegs, little kittypet! Dawnpaw twisted and turned in her sleep, finally sitting bolt upright, her neat fur ruffled.
"I'm not!"

I'm so worried. Emeraldpaw Emeraldpaw was curled in his nest near the back of the den. He was waiting for Cyanpaw to return. He sat bolt upright when Dawnpaw cried out. He got up and went to her nest. 'Dawnpaw! What's wrong?' He asked worriedly. He looked around, maybe something had scared her. He realized that it must have been a dream. 'Dawnpaw, it was just a dream. It's okay.' He looked at her with concern. His friend seemed agitated. He realized that his muscles were still stiff from being curled in his nest for so long. He stretched them out.[/sup]

dawnpaw Dawnpaw looked around wildly. It was light. The apprentices' den surrounded her. Her paws were planted on hard earth, and cushioned by soft moss. She was not falling. She waa alright. The black and white she-cat suddenly felt very self conscious. Had anybody seen her start? She blinked as Emeraldpaw padded to her side, and blushed furiously. She shuffled her paws and swallowed. Dawnpaw then began to groom her black and white coat, her usual habit when she couldn't think of anything to say. The she-cat lifted her head when her coat was shining. "Thanks."
Dawnpaw smiled at Emeraldpaw. She leapt up, her liveliness returning. The she-cat was nine moons old, caught between kithood and adolescence. This showed in the fact that, she still enjoyed kit games - and the opposite end was shown in the fact that he had developed a crush.

I'm so worried.Emeraldpaw Emeraldpaw looked at Dawnpaw, relief shining in his eyes. 'No problem.' He mewed. Suddenly he had a thought. 'So why did you cry out, "I'm not!"?' He asked. He looked around, listening to see if there was any sound of Cyanpaw returning. He turned his attention back to Dawnpaw. 'Do you want to go for a walk to shake off your dream?' He asked.

dawnpaw Dawnpaw blinked in embarrasment at Emeraldpaw's words. She shook herself, then bounced on the balls of her paws. The black and white she-cat looked less eager as Emeraldpaw mentioned her dream. He had heard her. Dawnpaw flushed again and looked at her paws. At first she thought of not saying anything, but... She could trust Emeraldpaw, couldn't she? He was her friend. The black and white apprentice took a deep breath, then spoke. "Well... I dreamt that I became a warrior of MoonClan," she mewed. These words were easy. That part of the dream had been good. "Then I became deputy, and then leader... But as soon as I stood up to call a ceremony, the ground opened up and I fell... I could hear all these voices, saying I was a kittypet, and I should go back to the twolegplace, and... And that I don't belong in MoonClan."
Dawnpaw stayed silent for a few long moments. When she looked up again, she had rearranged her face so that it looked casual. She nodded gratefully at Emeraldpaw's words. "Yeah, okay. Thanks."

Let's go for a walk. Emeraldpaw Emeraldpaw nodded at Dawnpaw's words. When he heard the last part, he leaned over and nudged her with his muzzle. 'Don't worry. We all have bad dreams. Anyways, I don't think anyone cares that you were a kittypet.' He mewed. He hated seeing people he cared about upset. He nudged her again and got up. 'Do you want to ask your mentor for permission?' He asked. He looked at her. He felt he had finally found another friend he could talk to.
Ahh... the sweetness of crushes... [/sup]

"Emeraldpaw!"
It couldn't be described as anything more, or less, than a bark. Chartreusesteps was ready to train with her apprentice, and whatever anyone said could not change her mind. Her muscular form sat rigid at the entrance to the apprentice's den, her almost surreal green eyes like two peridots in the darkness of the morning. She growled quietly as she waited for her apprentice to emerge, and when he didn't she scolded him again. "Come on. I don't have time for your childish games." her voice was a level hiss and her anger was betrayed by nothing, not her voice or her eyes or even the whole of her body. All that was there was stony, cold Chartreusesteps. Nothing more. [/blockquote]

Uhoh. Emeraldpaw Emeraldpaw was just about to start his walk with Dawnpaw when he heard Chautreusestep. 'I'll be right back.' He padded out of the apprentice den, purposely taking his time. He reached his mentor. 'What do you want?' He asked. His voice was cold. No emotion at all. His whole composure changed when he went to talk to his mentor. Insode the apprentice den, talking to Dawnpaw, he was feeling quite content. When he went out to talk to Chautreusestep, though, he went all cold and emotionless. He gazed up at her. 'Well?' He mewed, sitting down.[/sup]

dawnpaw Dawnpaw had been ready to go, about to leave the apprentices' den, her dark blue eyes still fixed gratefully on Emeraldpaw's face. But then a voice cracked through the air like thunder, shattering the sense of comfort and gratitude. The black and white apprentice tensed, anger in her eyes. Chartreusesteps. Emeraldpaw's mentor. Dawnpaw had disliked the cold she-cat ever since her friend's apprentice ceremony. She bristled at the she-cat's harsh bark. If it had been her mentor, maybe they could have trained together. But no, it had to be her. And she'd never let them train together.
Dawnpaw pushed out to stand beside her friend. She matched his sour look, trying not to betray her deep-rooted disappointment. Adults always ruined their fun. The she-cat scraped at the ground with a paw, waiting to find out if Chartreusesteps wanted to take Emeraldpaw out, or whether their planned walk still had hope.

__Pfft, no muse. :[
Raising her chin and gazing condecendingly at her apprentice, Chartreusesteps meowed, "We're going hunting. Dawnpaw, stay in camp. If you want to come, ask your own mentor to join us. I don't want to look after two apprentices." as she said that, she glanced at Emeraldpaw sharply. [/blockquote]

Uh oh. Emeraldpaw
Emeraldpaw was glad for the help when Dawnpaw came to his side. He stared down his mentor. Finally, he mewed, 'Fine.' He felt instantly guilty for being mean. He turned to Dawnpaw. 'Why don't you go ask your mentor if you can come? That way, we can still have that walk, only we'll be hunting.' He looked over to Chautreusesteps, trying to mew kindly, 'Can you teach me how to hunt? My former mentor didn't... he died before he could...' He shook his head to clear the thoughts. He was trying to act nice because he felt bad for being mean to his mentor. His former mentor had died right before he was going to teach Emeraldpaw the hunter's crouch. Emeraldpaw didn't want that to happen to his new mentor, no matter how much he disliked her. He sat down to wait for her. [/sup][/blockquote]

Her gaze became a glare, but Chartreusesteps wasn't going to be difficult now that her apprentice was actually showing some backbone. "Fine," she meowed roughly, her focus moving to the warrior's den. Dawnpaw's mentor would probably be in there. Her shoulders were squared as she turned back to Emeraldpaw. He was her first apprentice, and no matter what it took she was going to train him well. She was going to do for him what her mentor had done for her. Her tail now twitched impatiantly as she waited for Dawnpaw to ask her mentor permission. The hunter's crouch would be a good place to start, she supposed, but did this apprentice really not know how to hunt? "You should know how to hunt," she meowed plainly as she realized this, once again glaring at him. [/blockquote]

Annoyed. Emeraldpaw Emeraldpaw watched his mentor. 'Yeah, I kinda figured it was a usefu skill, seeing as that's the way we get our food.' He mewed sarcastically. He really didn't know how to hunt. 'You see... My mentor kinda died before he could teach me.' Emeraldpaw rolled his eyes. He looked over to Dawnpaw to see if she would ask her mentor. He looked at her with pleading eyes. 'I really wanted to go on that walk... We could have fun while you laugh at me trying to hunt.' He nudged her forward ever so slightly, to see if that would make her go faster. He sat there impatiently, waiting to go. [/sup]

dawnpaw Dawnpaw raised her sleek head, affronted at Chartreusesteps' commanding tone. "I'm not your apprentice," she mewed bluntly. She nodded to Emeraldpaw's words. "Yes, I'll go and see if Saintcalling and I can come along." The apprentice lingered for a brief moment, looking coldly at her friend's mentor. She wondered why the she-cat was treating him so harshly. Saintcalling had been pretty nice to her so far. Sympathy filled her heart as she turned to pad towards the warriors' den. It was morning, so she hoped the large black and white tom would still be in there.
She hoped her head through the dense ferns and scanned the sleeping mounds of fur with her dark blue eyes. "Er, Saintcalling? Are you in here?" she tried not to raise her voice too much. She didn't want to wake anybody up. A grouchy warrior on her case was the last thing she needed right now.

cagedfaith His voice seemed to come from behind, but his body came from infront of the she-cat. His blind, left eyes was closed shut while his right eyes watched the she-cat, flicking his tail lightly on Emeraldpaw's head before turning to Chartreusesteps. He sat down beside the apprentice, his hard gaze, even though it was simply one eye, watched the she-cat curiously. His tail curled around his white paws as he waited, his ears flicking back as he heard Dawnpaw calling for Saintcalling. "I'd like to understand why you hate him so much. Emeraldpaw would be one of the best apprentices. Your lucky Firestar accepted your exsistance and graced you with an apprentice" Cagedfaith meowed sharply, narrowing the one golden eye. [/ul]

"The absence of a mentor is no excuse," she meowed icily, her lip curling ever-so-slightly as Cagedfaith appeared. The StarClan-forsaken tom was always taking the side that was against her's. A seven (or was it eight? Chartreusesteps didn't really care)-moon old apprentice should know how to hunt; it was a simple fact. She stayed calm, however, and continued as she turned her glance to Cagedfaith. He was intimidating, with his blind eye and rather handsome appearence, but Chartreusesteps wasn't one for beauty. That was what got her sister killed, anyway. "If you enjoy his presence so much, then why didn't you teach him how to hunt? There are countless warriors in the Clan, it's been long enough since his mentor died. Do you mean to tell me that he hasn't left the camp since then?" she asked, flicking her tail in disgust.
Usually, Chartreusesteps was a cat of few words, but when intimidated she could be quite the talker. Hissing gently, she let her fur lie completely flat before answering the tomcat's second question. "Accepted my excistance? She accepted me long before accepting you, mouse-brain. Either way, I can live without an apprentice, and I see no need to use the word 'graced'. I was assigned an apprentice. Emeraldpaw needs to be taught the way I was taught, and what I've seen of him so far tells me that he is not fit to be a warrior."
__Sorry Jolly! Chatreusesteps is mean. And I'm beginning to wonder how Chartreusesteps and Cagedfaith will ever fall in love... xD

//XDD I've always wondered how they would fall in love. It'll take time for that, I betcagedfaith He growled, tail lashing back and forth. His eye was narrowed darkly again as he glared at her, resting his tail on Emeraldpaw's back before his ears flicked up at what she was saying. "Firestar knows who I am. She had accepted me since birth, thank you very much. Why didn't you decline the right to take on an apprentice? It would have saved time. Much time. For you to not figure this out is mouse-brained. You say your apprentice is unfit to be a warrior? You, yourself, are unfit to train a brave apprentice such as this"[/ul]

ooc;; Naw that's alright Kuri... -sniff- Just kidding! It's fun to Roleplay with a mentally scarred apprentice and a mean mentor... xD

We're safe, now. Scorchedleaf
Scorchedleaf burst through the camp entrance, feeling relief as he looked around the camp. Everything was as it should be. He looked to the quarrel near the apprentice den. He panted as he tried to catch his breath. From the Steel Yard all the way back to the camp running was a long and tiresome run. He looked around him, then called out, 'Firestar or Wovenknot! I need to talk to you!' He called out frantically. The safety of Cyanpaw's family was in danger.
You make me so... MAD. Emeraldpaw
Emeraldpaw glared at Chautreusesteps. If looks could kill would be the right term here. He felt utterly hated- no, repulsed- from his mentor. It seemed he was just a bother. He screamed at his mentor. 'Fine! If you hate me so much, why don't I just leave? You, know, so I can e out of your fur! You won't have to worry about Emeraldpaw, the apprentice who will never be a warrior! Fine, then! I'll leave! When they find my body, you know it will be your fault that I died! I'll die of starvation, because my mentor can't dirty her little paws to help a wee apprentice learn how to hunt! FINE! I'll go! I must be just a bother to the Clan. You think that, don't you? You disgust me! You're part of a Clan! It's your duty to teach young ones how to hunt and fight! I hate you!' He grew quiet, fuming. He knew he had crossed the line, screaming at Chautreusesteps like that. He didn't care, though. He looked up at Cagedfaith, happy to have one warrior on his side. He looked around when he heard Scorchedleaf yowl. He watched to see Cyanpaw come back, too. His anger went away as he thought of his sister.

Chartreusesteps's hard gaze scorched over Cagedfaith, then Emeraldpaw, then Cagedfaith again. Two against one. She saw no need to continue the fight, but instead she turned away from them and began towards the entrance to camp. Looking back at her apprentice, she meowed roughly, "We're going,", casting an angry glare at Cagedfaith. When Scorchedleaf and Cyanpaw burst into camp, she became only more irritated. "Come!" she almost yowled. "We're going, and if I see this 'Poisongas', I'll tear his fur off!" [/blockquote]

Never! Emeraldpaw Emeraldpaw saw Cyanpaw. 'Oh, you're home, thank goodness! I was so worried...' He heard her next words. 'No... Where's Aerialpaw? Where is he?' He almost screamed. He pressed against Cyanpaw to give her comfort. 'I have to go with Chautreusesteps, I'll be careful, I promise.' He licked her ear, then padded away. He caught up with Chautreusesteps. 'What caused the change of heart?' He inquired menacingly. He heard her about Poisongas. His gaze got concerned. 'Chautreusesteps, listen to me. If he really is out there, you will be lucky to live. He killed two apprentices and a mentor easily. I know what happened. It was horrible. I don't want him to kill again. Please... he has a vengeance against my family. I don't want you to die.' He finished off in a barely audible whisper. He hoped she souldn't take what he had said the wrong way. He was concerned for his mentor. Emeraldpaw got up to leave.[/sup]

The gray-brown she-cat was surprised when Emeraldpaw followed so willingly, but was about to make up a sharp retort when something seemed to click in Emeraldpaw's mind. She quieted herself and let him talk, the genuinely concerned tone in his voice making her listen closely to what he said. How could an apprentice she had just scolded so harshly be so afraid for her? She then realized that Emeraldpaw probably just didn't want to be mentorless again... Or, maybe that wasn't it. Maybe he really was concerned for both their safety. Chartreusesteps blinked, then meowed, "And that was how Toxicpaw and Eruptionpaw died?" not waiting for an answer, she continued with the slightest of smiles, which then turned into a frown once more. "Then I guess we'll just have to teach you some fighting moves instead." [/blockquote]

No, I'm serious. Emeraldpaw Emeraldpaw nodded slightly when she asked about his brothers. 'Toxicpaw was being attacked by his mentor and Eruptionpaw stepped in to help. His mentor was with him. They fought and Poisongas had killed Eruptionpaw and his mentor. He turned to finish the job on Toxicpaw. He attacked Toxicpaw and fled. We found him later. He had just enough energy to to tell Aerialpaw, Cyanpaw and me about the attack. Aerialpaw and I were in the Medicine den becuase my mentor and I were attacked by a badger. I survived but my mentor died. Aerialpaw was attcked by rogues. Anyways, Toxicpaw died later on, so now we think he's coming back to get us and anyone who stands in the way. I am afraid he will come back for us. I'd rather he killed me than any of my remaining siblings.' He finished. Before Chautreusesteps could see, he wiped a tear from his eye. He didn't know how she'd react after he confessed his true fear. He stood up to leave to hunt, when she changed her mind. Emeraldpaw mewed, 'Okay, then.' He seemed subdued now, as the she-cat found out about his history. [/sup][/blockquote]

thunderdance* i thought love was only true in fairy tales It was amazing, this new feeling, but also puzzling too. She remembered like it was just yesterday Scorchedleaf admitting his love for her, and her crisp words in a reply that she loved him too. It was crazy, how time flew by. She had a mate now... and perhaps if she was lucky, she'd have a trail of little kittens, too. Maybe not, perhaps that is not what StarClan set out for her and Scorchedleaf, but she was willing to live life without them, as long as she had the tom that she loved by her side. She needed to think, and as she heard the loud ruckus of a normal morning in camp, she shivered as she sat cleaning her mainly white pelt in the Warrior's den, her tail wrapped elegantly around her four dainty paws. Since they committed to each other as mates, and even then at that very moment, they have had no time alone to just talk... even when he told her that he loved her, his apprentice was by his side. She sighed, ears twitching in thought, before she heard the tom's voice that she loved ring out, calling for Firestar or Wovenknot. This alarmed her, obviously, as one only calls the leader or deputy when something important or dangerous happens, nothing really in between. A gentle frown captured her expression as she peered out into the main clearing, her pale green eyes scanning for Scorchedleaf, and finding him quickly, she ran to him, her paws leaving no marks behind her on the soft land. Her bodice pressed close beside him, her tailtip gently touching his shoulder as she bent her neck to whisper quietly into his ear "When you find time... meet me... at Moonlit Hills" she decided mentally at that moment, seeing that was were she discovered her love for the tom, and also were she found a friendship with Ghostnight, combining with the memories of his brutal death with DeathClan. They had many memories there... it should be the right place just to... be alone to talk once and for all.

wovenknot For Wovenknot, the days since the battle had been blissful. She had found a mate, somebody to love her and whom she could love in return. She knew that many of the clan thought it strange, a she-cat having a relationship with her former apprentice, but, as much as she valued the opinions of her clanmates, she really didn't care. The steel-coloured tabby she-cat was sat outside the warriors den, licking one white forepaw. She had been on patrol all morning, and had returned for something to eat before assigning the patrols for the evening and night. She had finally got used to her duties, and to be honest, got over the shock, of being deputy of MoonClan. The threelegged she-cat had never dreamed that she would ever serve MoonClan as more than a warrior. That had been enough for her. But this? It was so strange. Wovenknot's light blue eyes narrowed as she noticed a ruccus starting outside the apprentices' den. Wovenknot limped over, her face confused and annoyed.
"What's going on here?" she asked, her mouth twisting slightly. The grey tabby took in the scene. Cyanpaw and Emeraldpaw, looking scared. Chartresusesteps questioning her apprentice, and Scorchedleaf, Cagedfaith and Thunderdance apparently conversing. Ruffling out her fur irritably, the she-cat cast her eye over the cats, waiting for an answer.

Finally someone who can help... Scorchedleaf
Scorchedleaf nodded to Thunderdance as he heard her summons. He saw Wovenknot come up and ask what was going on. He ran right up to her. 'Do you remembeer Poisongas, Wovenknot? The one that killed two of our apprentices and one warrior before we could find out what happened and exile him?' He asked. He really hoped that she would remember the murderous tom. He eyed her. 'He might be on out territory right now. Chautreusesteps and Emeraldpaw had a big quarrel and are now going out to train. Cyanpaw and I just got back from going around the borders. The rogue was scented near camp a bit.' He stopped, waiting for this new information to sink in for her. [/blockquote]

wovenknot Wovenknot nodded, her eyes still narrowed, at Scorchedleaf's words. Her alarm grew as he finished speaking. Poisongas had been seen on their territory? And Chatreusesteps had taken Emeraldpaw out training? The grey tabby she-cat gritted her teeth to stop furious words bursting out. Are they completely and utterly mouse-brained? The threelegged she-cat waved her tail to summon Thunderdance. "Can both of you go after them, and bring them back?" she mewed, alarm in her voice. "If you see Poisongas, return here right away. Nobody should be out with him around. We need a larger patrol to see him off."
Turning to Cyanpaw and Dawnpaw, she continued. "You two go and tell Firestar what has happened, alright?" Wovenknot then looked at Cagedfaith, the last remaining tom. "Cagedfaith, spread the word. Warn the elders, and choose some warriors to stand outside the nursery. Our kits may be in danger."

I'm so glad you came... Scorchedleaf
Scorchedleaf looked at Wovenknot. 'Thank you for coming.' He looked over at Thunderdance. Please let her not leave yet... I need her help. He thought to himself. He thought of what Poisongas was capable of. He had a sudden thought. 'We didn't see him, we only scented him. It was fresh, though. When we get back, I can take you out to show you where I scented him.' Scorchedleaf's heart was pounding as he thought of getting revenge on the rogue. His claws ripped up the soil from beneath him as he waited anxipously. [/blockquote]

thunderdance love was out to get methats the way it seems Her bodice turned delicately to leave camp her paw raised to take the first step into the forest before she heard Wovenknot call for her cats, asking in an authoritative tone 'What was going on?', and she turned around, her pale green eyes studying the deputy before walking slowly back toward her mate, leaning over, a secretive, soft smile on her face "Well, some other time..." she laughed quietly before her mate left her side and told the other she cat what was happening, and she let her expression cease to a frown as she discovered what she almost missed, almost went out into the forest to something that could've killed her. She shivered for a moment, and let her tongue move swiftly through her white, black striped fur to calm herself down. As Scorchedleaf reappeared by her side, she pressed against him, her tail finding his to twine into one. Wovenknot then gave her directions, a patrol with her mate, to search and scan the area, making her nod dutifully, before her head turned toward the tom, her expression determined as she untwined her tail, and turned to face the entrance, "Let's show this Poisongas what we've got" she smiled for a minute, imagining the foul cat blinded by love, before she turned back to him, waiting for him to lead.
