~Scarletpetal~

Scarletpetal stalked through the undergrowth, eyes locked on a mouse. She sprang easily and killed it with a swift bite. She buried it, then breathed deeply in the bright forest. It felt good being a warrior, not having to wait to ask your mentor where to go, not needing to clean out the elders den. The young she-cat's bright ginger fur shone, muscle rippling beneath it when she walked. She had changed a lot, from a leggy adolescent to a full grown she-cat. She liked hunting with patrols and friends, but sometimes she liked to just take a step back and go out on her own.

[SHADE. :D]

Spectrumflash stalked silenly after his sister, maw open to catch the secents on the warm breeze that ruffled his whiskers. The grey and white tom twitched his ears and looked up into the dense canopy of branches. He spottd the tail feathers of a sparrow. The tom crouched for a moment, hen sprang upwards. One paw smashed into the flimsy branch, unbalancing the bird. Before it could open its sleek black wings, Spectrumflash snatched at it with outstretched claws. One paw came down with a couple of feathers snagged on it; the other buried itself in the swallow's soft flesh. It called out in pain as Spectrumflash landed. To save he bird pain Spectrumflash snapped its neck quickly. Licking blood from his paws and sheathing claws, the young warrior picked up the still warm body of the bird and trotted after Scarletpetal.

Scarletpetal turned round in time to see her brother coming up behind her. 'Hey. What'ya up to?' she asked, though the answer was obvious.

[SHADE. :D]

Spectrumflash dropped the swallow and scraped dirt and moss over its limp body. He grinned at Scarletpetal, flicking his tail slowly from side to side. "Hunting, of course," the tom mewed. "With you. If that's okay." The grey and white tom nudged his sister softly, smiling in his usaul cheeky, teasing way.

'Of course.' she said, flicking her tail over her brother's shoulder while she said it. 'So, how've you been? I haven't really talked to you much since we became warriors.'

[SHADE. :D]

Spectrumflash shrugged. "Okay." The tom opened his maw to scent the air, before looking back at his sister with calm light blue eyes. "What about you? Not chasing a tom or something like that?" The tom smiled at his joke and batted a paw at his sister's muzzle plsyfully.

Scarletpetal laughed at the comment. 'Not yet!' she chuckled, eyes dancing mischievously. 'Only joking. No, it's all about the Clan right now.' she said. She extended her neck to sniff a purple flower and came back with a nose covered in yellow pollen. She shook her head while smiling.

[SHADE. :D]

Apectrumflash stretched his back, his muscles standing up breifly. "Good. We're only new warriors," the tom mewed. "We should be more worried about being the best warriors we can. There's time for all that lovey-stuff later." The grey and white warrior wrinkled his muzzle as if there was anything he'd rather do than fall in love. He was his own cat now - he didn't want to have some commintment, even to a mate.

Scarletpetal smiled. 'You're right. Have you got your eye on anyone?' she asked, her grin getting wider.

[SHADE. :D]

Spectrumflash snorted. "No!" The grey and white tom dabbed a paw at a small puddle from the previous nights rainfall. "Not any decent lookers." He wrinkled hi muzzle. "Except you and Glacierstripe, and your my sisters." He drew back his lips in a grin. "In fact, I think the only good looking cat my age is Autumnwreth." He expected his sister to come out with a lecture about how personality counted in a relationship, not looks.

Foxtail looked at her brother in a look of hopelessness. 'You know, there's more to life than looks! You should be rating personality, not what a cat looks like.' she lectured her brother.

[SHADE. :D]

[bic;] Spectrumflash rolled his eyes at the expected lecture. "I know, I kmow," the grey and white tom admitted. He looked up at the ligt blue sky. "I wonder if mother is in StarClan now?" The young warrior had missed his mother Jinxdancer a lot when she had died of Greencough. He hoped she was at peace, residing in StarClan with her mate Ebonysky.

~Bic:~ Scarletpetal sat down, looking at her brother. 'I'm sure she is. I hope so. Not in that so-called 'Tribe of Nightmares'.' she shuddered, looking up at the sky.

[SHADE. :D]

[bic;] Spectrumflash looked at his paws. Shaking his muzzle, he scented the air again. The scent of a mouse reached him. Dropping into a balanced crouch, the grey and white tom crept into the undergrowth. There was a loud rustle as he pounced, and he trotted back into view. A mouse hung from his jaws by its long, bare tail. There was a single wound on the back of its neck. Spectrumflash dropped it near where he had buried his sparrow.

Bic: Scarletpetal rolled her shoulders, closing her eyes in the seconds her brother was gone. She relished the warm sun against her back, and sat thinking about their mother. Not dawdling on the sad thoughts, she got up and opened her mouth, letting the scents of the forest come rushing in. She smelled a squirrel nearby, and padded slowly to a clump of bushes, she then dropped into a hunters crouch and pounced. She caught the small animal and bit down on its neck, hard. Blood rushed into her mouth, warm and sweet. She trotted back to her brother with her catch, tail reaching skywards.

Spectrumflash sat down heavily near his buried fresh kill. He yawned and rested his head on his paws. The grey and white tom seemed not to want to carry on hunting. He fixed his blue eyes on a thin aspen tree, only moving when he sensed the scrabble of paws he had heard before. Motioning to his sister to be quiet, the tom slunk forward. He clawed his way up a big rown tree, watching. He saw a skinny cat emerge from the trees, ebony apart from the white tip of his tail. Spectrumflash leapt on the tom with a hiss.
Apocolypse drew back his lips in fear. He hissed, slashing wildly at the cat on his back. Rolling over, he dislodged Spectrumflash, and dealed the warrior two sharp slashes with his long, sharp front claws. Spectrumflash hissed in anger, lashing out. Apocolypse blinked as stars swam into his vision. He felt fangs bite deep nto his right foreleg, and yowled in pain. He snapped at Spectrumflash's waving tail, and, catching it in his fangs, bit down hard. The two toms leapt on eachother, nothing but a screaming tussle of grey, white and black fur.

Scarletpetal drew a sharp intake of breath. 'Spectrumflash!' she muttered. She began dodging in and out, weakening the intruder with small nips and slashes.

[SHADE. :D]

Apocolypse spat in anger. He was outnumbered! Slashing at the ginger tabby's face, he bit Spectrumflash's soft flank hard. The grey and white warrior yowled in pain, pulling free of the fight. Apocollypse warded off more blows, skittering away from Scarletpetal. The black loner climbed up a twisted cedar tree, crouching on a low grey branch. Fur hung from his coat, and blood shimmered on the grass where the three cats had fought. Apocolypse hissed angrily. "You'll pay for that!"

Scarletpetal smirked at the cat. 'Sure we will! What are you doing on our territory in the first place?' she hissed, back arched.

[SHADE. :D]

Apocolypse fluffed out his dark fur and bared the oversized fangs he had inherited from his notorious father, Vampire. He hissed. He had recieved cunning from his devious mother, Blood, but it seemed that this time he had been out thought. It had been ten moons since he had left the den of his parents to roam alone. He had not seen Sin or Ivy since. It didn't really bother him much. After all, Sin had only ever scoffed at him and Ivy had, well, ignored him. He never really liked his parents much either.
"Your territory?" he whined in a voice thick with false fear. "Oh, boohoo, I'm on your little spit of land!"

Scarletpetal sighed. She couldn't be bothered with petty rogues right now. 'Look, do we have to teach you a little something so you'll leave and never come back,' a menacing look filled her eyes. 'Or will you leave now, without hassle?' she asked.

[SHADE. :D]

Apocolypse spat comtenpuously. "Why should I leave?" he hissed. "The prey is good here. Better than in the other places I've looked." Suddenly looked grumpy and gloomy, he scrambled down from the tree. "Oh, forget it," the black rogue held out his neck to Scarletpetal. "Go on, kill me. It doesn't matter anymore."

[fernie. (:]

'We don't kill a cat unjustly. Just leave.' she said flatly.

[SHADE. :D]

"Go on," Apocolypse urged. "You'll be doing me a favour. I thought life without my bossy brother and sister would be better, but its worse." The black tom looked wistful for a moment, then snorted. "Come on, do it!"

[fernie. (:]

Scarletpetal looked away in disgust. 'Look, read my lips. I- am- not- going- to- kill- you!!!' she hissed. She looked at Spectrumflash for help.

[SHADE. :D]

Spectrumflash stood beside his sister, one hind leg lifted off the grass. It was bloody and painful. The tom turned pained light blue eyes to face Apocolypse. "Just get out. We d-don't have time for you," he hissed, speaking a great effort through the pain in his leg. The loner had sharp teeth, he reflected. His fighting skills were decent, too. He must have had a good teacher. Apocolypse's dark fur bristled. "Your weaker than I am!" he sneered. The tom's legs shivered. "Well, at least, my father called me weak. Runt of the litter, he called me, stupid little scrap." The tom shook with surpressed rage and pent up hurt.

Scarletpetal's eyes were drawn to her brothers injury, which she hadn't noticed before. She looked back at the loner, pure anger flashing in her eyes. She walked in what seemed a calm manner up to the cat, then stopped, nose to nose with him. She slowly unsheathed her claws into the dirt, then raised one paw and slashed it across the loner's face. 'Nobody hurts my brother. Remember that.' she growled in a deathly quiet voice. Still nose to nose with him, she spoke again. 'Now get out, or tell us what we can do for you.'

[SHADE. :D]

Spectrumflash shook his head. "It's not worth-" He was cut off by Apocolypse. The black loner hissed furiously. "You have no idea how often I've been hurt by your clan cats! We always used to let you scum pass over our land without attacking us, but no!" He spat angrily. "Nothing ever changes! Still no one respects me!" Whipping around, blood still dripping from his badly scratched face, he stalked away.

'Oh, just get lost you pile of mouldering fox-dung!' she screeched. Then she turned to her brother. 'Are you ok? Can you walk?'
Ooc: I have interesting choice of adjectives in this!

[SHADE. :D]

Spectrumflash shied away. "I'm fine," he insisted proudly. He stumbled, nearly tripping. Flushing, he looked away. "I'm fine," he repeated.
