Name: Morningshadow
Gender: She-cat
Age: 32 Moons
Clan: Serenity Clan
Rank: Warrior
Relationships/Kin: -None-
Codewords: Poison Tears Crash Down
Looks:
Morningshadow was named because her mother saw the bright side of her face, which was colored with orange and white, when she was born. When Morningshadow turned over that same morning, her face was black and white, like the night sky above, or a shadow hiding from the moonlight. Her mother was somewhat frightened originally as she thought her kit had been replaced with another, but then the kit woke up with those pale green eyes of her and mewed for her mother.
The she-cat has long fur on her back and tail, with short white fur coating her belly. She makes sure to keep her fur clean, as many cats might. She doesn’t like to think she is beautiful, but in the end, she does believe only the outside of her is pretty. Everything on the inside, is mixed with shadow.
Actions:
Morningshadow is a caring creature, willing to help out anyone that asks for her help. She has a lot of love deep within that fur of hers, but something else also lives in there with that caring personality that is Morningshadow. Some cats look at her as if she has another cat within her body besides Morningshadow. The she-cat likes to play off of this, and for stories, she says that she has two sides. Morningshadow and Duskshadow. Duskshadow is her vicious side, the heartless side to the normally warm calico.
They share the same name, it is only in stories that she will use her other name she sometimes goes by. She has even been known to give enemy patrols the name ‘Duskshadow’ instead of her real name. It is like a big game to her, and she enjoys every second of it.
Past:
SerenityClan held two strong warriors. A tom by the name of Rockclaw had often padded after she-cats that might be willing to have him as her mate. Only one accepted his offer, and that was the solid white she-cat that was dubbed Hailstorm. They were perfect together, the patient female and the persistent male. Their kits were evenly balanced too, later when they finally had their litter.
Hailstorm laid in the nursery with two new kits next to her. One was suckling eagerly while the other kept rejecting her mother’s milk. This was Duskkit, and she died because she chose not to eat. Her sister, Morningkit, survived for the both of them, and it would be found out a little later. Rockclaw came to take away Duskkit for burial, licking Hailstorm in farewell. He never returned to the camp. It was later found, when a cat went looking for him, that while he was burying his other daughter, a badger came up behind him and slaughtered him in cold blood. Hailstorm was devastated, and became highly protective of her only daughter.
Morningkit grew up loving her mother and playing with the other kits. While Hailstorm was sunning herself and watching Morningkit play with another kit, there was a sudden screech. At first, she thought it was a hawk above, but with closer inspection, Morningkit had the other kit pinned. Hailstorm got up in a flurry, picking up Morningkit and taking her off the other kit.
’What do you think you were doing, Morningkit?’
’Morningkit? What are you talking about? I am Duskkit!’
That was the first introduction of Duskkit. Hailstorm was amazed, but when she found her kit purring, she knew it was just a game to this little devious cat. It angered her mother enough to send her into the nursery for a couple of days. Morningkit never played this game again while her mother was around.
Hailstorm was killed when the badger came back and came after Morningkit. The little calico kitten watched as her mother was killed. After the lifeless form of her white mother fell to the ground, the badger left. Morningkit cried all that day, snuggling up against her dead mother while the leader had repairs done. A moon later, Morningkit became Morningpaw.
Morningpaw was trained by an elderly warrior by the name of Shortfoot. She practiced hard and played hard like every other apprentice. Of course, her warrior naming ceremony came with time, not with an honorable patrol or a battle. Jasminestar gave her the name Morningshadow, for her sneakiness and cunning. The young warrior beamed brightly, knowing that now everyone important was gone from her life, she would be allowed to play up her former gave. She even gave her other side the name of Duskshadow. As if she and her sister, were standing side by side, her vigil carried on through the night.
Shortfoot retired and died a moon later, but Morningshadow felt no remorse. She honored him for all he taught her, but there was no reason to mewl like a little kit at his side. She remained there next to him silently, letting his passing to StarClan go without obstacle.
The calico she-cat continued to carry out her duties honorable. When she caught patrols near her border, she would pull out her vicious personality of Duskshadow, tearing the fur from the warrior she was fighting to make sure she was remembered. Not one warrior forgot that she was a fiend. Of course, they didn’t know she was as kind as the dawn, sneaking up on the darkness to chase away the nightmares. Even then, she was still a shadow, waiting to make a name for herself.
In Character:
Morningshadow was out on patrol when the wind picked up the scents of a BrightClan patrol. She looked at her friends knowingly, stepping through the brush to face the cats from her side of the markers. The calico she-cat bore her teeth at them in an ugly sneer, grabbing their attention in a flashy way. One of the toms across the border, growled back, baring his teeth in the same fashion.
”Don’t cross me, furball. I am Duskshadow, you may have heard of m-“
“We’ve heard of you alright. A joker, who’s real name is Morningshadow…”
The she-cat froze a moment, looking toward the other cat with those pale green eyes of hers. By now, the rest of the patrol joined her, glaring at the BrightClan cats. The leader of the patrol growled this time, pushing a shoulder against Morningshadow reassuringly.
“If she were a joker, why does she have your patrol on edge?”
With that, the area erupted in violence. Morningshadow lunged at the one who had decided to slander her good name. The she-cat attempted to sink her teeth into the flesh of the cat’s shoulder. Around her, other mighty yowls rippled through the surrounding bushes. While she was unfocused, her teeth caught nothing but air. Her enemy turned and sunk his teeth into her scruff. Just as she was thrown to the ground, she lifted her paw up, scratching his nose. Morningshadow paused as her head knocked the ground, watching the other cat flee from her.
”Don’t you forget! I am Morningshadow! And I am not a joker!”
Other:
- With cat’s that don’t know her, she likes to say she is Duskshadow. Of course, she isn’t.
