Don't wanna be second best
don't wanna stand in line
don't want to fall behind
don't want to get caught out
don't want to do without
xNAME Briarkit
xGENDER femme
xAGE unborn
xCLAN BrightClan
xRANK kitten
and the lesson I must learn
is that I've got to wait my turn
Did you see that?
Yes, that. The little gray-and-white smudge, right there. That, my friends, would be Briarkit. If you were to get closer and examine her more thourely, you would see that her ears are pointed and alert, with a small tuft of white hair each at the very tips. They are colored a charcoal-gray, the color continuing down atop her head and just to the bridge of her nose, creating a nice-looking split-colored face of gray and white. Her cheeks look bigger than they really are, fluffy hair puffing out either side of her face in a cutely innocent way. Her eyes, however, look nothing like innocent. Always sharp and intelligent, Briarkit's eyes are usually cold-looking and hide her most inner emotions rather well. Her pupils are a dark black, as expected, and ringed by the most stunning hue of forest jade. An even darker green rings the iris, making this kitten's eyes a wonderful 'sight' to see.
Briarkit's body can not be described any other way but stocky. Large shoulders and a strong build, obviously inherited from her father and his family, grace this youngster. The dark gray color continues down her back while her belly remains white. Each paw is suprisingly large for a kitten, packing sharp claws that seem to spring out at the slightest insult. Her fur has a unique texture to it, not quite as downy as regular kitten fur but not coarse like a warrior's. It is wispy and fluttery, however, this kit herself is not. With a tail as fluffy as a cloud and probably just about as soft, she doesn't seem to pose much of a threat.
Looks like I got to be hot and cold
I got to be taught and told
Got to be good as gold
Don't get Briarkit angry, I'm warning you now. Bad-natured and rather prickly, Briarkit prefers to be alone as opposed to with all the other kits. She sees life from a slightly bitter perspective, for example, she won't ask an older apprentice to teach her a hunting crouch because she convinces herself that the apprentice wouldn't want to teach somone like her anyway. This is what causes her temper, constantly being consumed by mean thoughts seems to make one mean as well. She acts rather arrogant although she yells at others out of love; actually, one can fairy accurately compare her to her own aunt by Grainpelt, Pecankit. Slightly protective but embarassed to reveal it, she lets her temper show her emotions. She can often be happy one moment then set off by something another says the next; although she is far from bipolar like fellow BrightClanner Violetwisp. Infamous for holding grudges, Briarkit is not the most popular of the BrightClan kits and is often annoyed by Charmkit and her friend's antics.
But perfectly honesty -
I think it would be good for me
If cats kept track of family trees, one would see that Briarkit had come from quite an important lineage. Grand-daughtor of Ghostlystar, BrightClan leader, and Stormfur, Leapordflight and Runespell - all respected senior warriors - one has to admit that her family line could rival that of Hopepaw, Pheonixpaw and Tornadopaw, the great Wrenstar's kits.
Grainpelt used to be the bright one. The sibling that would never see the dark side, just the good parts. He was the definition of optimist. But, strangely enough, he is also a living example of how life's unfortunate events can completely shape one's personality.
First, there was Pecankit -- Grianpelt's sister who went missing just about a moon before their apprentice ceremony. Grianpelt never was very close to her, but it did shock him dramatically.
Cinnabarcloud was Grainpelt's grandfather he never had, but, being the most elderly cat in BrightClan meant he was going to die at some point. And he did, joining StarClan just after he saw Grainpelt become a warrior. Grainpelt's character changed dramatically, going from a bright and happy apprentice to a quiet and thoughtful warrior.
Finally, Ryepaw. Grainpelt's brother had gotten sick as a young apprentice, and was kept in the medicine den for over six moons. Only a few moons after Grainpelt became a warrior, he died. Grainpelt was heartbroken, and after Cinnabarcloud's death it only scarred him more.
Then along came Frostedwing, the beautiful she-cat who stole Grainpelt's heart. Soon after she became a warrior, Grainpelt admitted his love for her - she seemed to be one of the few cats who understood what he had gone through. She was able to bring out that happy-go-lucky self he used to be. And, soon Frostedwing discovered she was pregnant and expecting Grainpelt's kits.
Like four tiny gifts born into a time of recovery from the biggest catslaughter the forest could remember, Briarkit and her siblings Charmkit, Noblekit and Cinnabarkit came into BrightClan.
