{ M O O N }MiST

The slow and quiet breaths came from a sleping queen. Her pelt was faint silver and feathery. Her bottlebrush tail was wrapped over her nose. Her flanks raised and lowered along with her breathing.

Something inside Moonmist's swollen tummy kicked. It woke her and she raised her head, blinking sleep from her eyes.

Then she let out an agonized yowl, RAZORTOMB! She must have woke the whole forest, and now she felt pity for her pregnant roommates. This is what it felt like to give birth.

She let out another scream of agony. Razortomb! Littlefox! It's time! Moonmist yelled in desperation.

There was another kick and another sreech pain, this time a bit quieter, from Moonmist.

She shut her eyes tight as she waited for it to be over. She could fel them protest. No! It's warm in here! she imagained them to be squealing.

The first one to come out was a golden one. She hurriedly did what instinct told her to. She helped the tomkit towards her belly where he immediately began to suckle. She began to lick him dry before another came.

Next out came a white one. She had ginger stockings on her hindlegs and black toes on her left front paw. My, what a beautiful kitty! Moonmist thought as she helped her other kit with becoming dry.

After that came three more in this order: there was an all whie one with pale blue eyes, a gray, white, and black tabby with dull mixed amber eyes, and a white and orange tabby.

Moonmist admired them all after she had licked them dry and knew exactly what she was going to name the white, ginger, and black one. She nuzzled her and whispered, Rainbowkit. Then she looked at the white one and smiled, And you shall be Cascadekit!

The proud mother looked over the rest of her kits, Now, what to name you all...

A quiet mewling filled the nursery: Indeed, even before she had opened her eyes or could even truly speak, Cascadekit was still a noisy little thing. Pressing to her mother, knowing she was there just by the soft touch of her fur, the snowy white kitten climbed over her other siblings - of course, right now, she had absolutely no idea who 'those cats' were or what they were doing next to her mother - to be able to suckle.

ooc; Yes, it's suckish. But she's a newborn kit, what am I supposed to say? xD

Rainbowkit mewed quietly, pushing between her golden brother and her white and orange sister in order to get to Moonmist's belly. She waddled on the ground in an army-crawl fashion. She mewled again, and managed to get to her mother's belly. She began to suckle, neading her tiny paw against the soft underbelly fur of her mum. She felt the warm milk flow into her mouth. It dripped out the sides of her little cat mouth, causing it to drip on the top of her golden brother's head.

The dark-coated kit squirmed, turning over. He seemed quiet compared to the other kits. He rolled over once more, opening his little mouth and uttering a tiny sigh. The tom's tiny mind was already wandering, wondering. What was the warm, furry thing before her? The tom probed with his tongue, until he found the correct place and began to suckle. The tom fluffed out his ears and head fur, giving a small mewl of satisfaction, before going back to suckling.

<sub>A black figure raced from the clearing at the sound of his name. Heavy pawprints echoed in the quiet nursery as he raced to his mate's side. They're beautiful. He purred in her ear. What are you naming them? He asked.

Instantly by Moonmist's side, Littlefox dropped a bundle of herbs and passed them to Moonmist. Eat these. They will give you strength and the energy you need. She smiled encouragingly at the two. You'll make terrific parents. She complimented.</sub>

Moonmist nodded at Littlefox and gulped down the herbs. She stuck her tongue out at the bitter taste, but recovered quickly. She nuzzled her mate and smiled. She pointed with her silvery-white paw at Rainbowkit, This one's Rainbowkit, she said. Then she pointed at Cascadekit, And this one's Cascadekit. But I don't know what to name the other three...

_{Razortomb smiled gently at her mate. Those are beautiful names. What about Yarrowkit for this one? He pointed at the kit that he named. Happiness moved its way through his fur, giving him a pleasant tingle. He was finally a father, and was in love with the most beautiful cat ever. Other than Lonelyheart of course. He still loved her, and her death was a dull thud that was with him every heartbeat of the way.}

Moonmist purred and nodded in agreement, Ya, and this one... how about Puzzlekit? She pointed to the dark-coated tom that fluffed out his ears.

She nuzzled Razortomb. Finally, the painful part of motherhood was done. Now she had to do the hard part.

Well, at least I won't be carrying around a belly full of kits. she thought to herself.

_{Razortomb purred. Perfect. Now how about the last? He asked her, hoping she would tell him a name. He could not think of a good one for the remaining kit. As he waited for her answer, the tom looked down at his five bundles. He nuzzled each of them on the head, then purred some more.}

Petaldance woke with a startled jump as Moonmists yowl sliced through the silence of the night like a knife. Blinking hard so as to get used to the dim light in the nursery she looked around, terrified at what the noise was. The Tribe of Nightmares, again already? she thought, leaping to her feet but the squeaky mewling noise only a kit could make made her relax. Moonmist was kitting! She stayed out the way, soft tail resting on her kits backs to reassure them before padding forward once Littlefox and Razortomb had had some time alone with her. "Congratulations Moonmist. EclipseClan is going to be overrun with kits, thats fourteen now!" she said, delighted that the Clan had so many kits, so many more warriors to be had. Dipping her head to everyone she padded back to her own nest, hushing her mewling kittens and lying down again. Glancing at her kits one last time she closed her lilac-blue eyes and started drifting off to sleep again.

Lilakit squealed angrily as her mother moved away from her and her siblings. All this racket was annoying, didnt they know she was trying to sleep! And now she was cold as well. She kept up her loud protesting until finally her mother returned and lay beside them. Purring happily, Lilakit snuggled into her mothers soft fur and drifted off to sleep again.[/color][/blockquote]

<sub>Grebekit let out an indignant mew around the same time Lilakit did. What an annoying noise! She certainly had never made such a racket in her life. The mottled she-cat grumped impatiently until her mother returned with warmth and milk, where she nursed until she fell asleep again.

Sunheart's dull eyes opened, and she yawned, turning her head to Moonmist. She waved her tail in congratulations and nodded to the she-cat. "Congratulations," she said quietly, making sure her brood didn't awaken.</sub>

Moonmist purred and licked the top of the orange and white kit's head. How about... Firekit? she asked, wrapping her feathery tail around the litter.

She blinked and smiled at her denmates as they congratulated her. Thanks! she mewed delightfully.

_{Good choice. Now all our little bundles have names! Razortomb purred some more. He smiled at each of them, then he sniffed them, so he would remember their scents. It was so exciting. He had even more kin in the clan! Soon it would be overrun by his kin, and there would be no clan left. The thought troubled him, and he shook his head. Whatever happened, he was happy to be apart of Eclipseclan.}

Moonmist smiled, happy that her mate agreed with the name.

Rainbowkit could feel the love coming off of her mother. It warmed the little's kit's speeding heart as she continued to suckle. She could feel the purrs rumbling like an earthquake. A gentle, sleepy earthquake.

Rainbowkit yawned hugely, showing a small pink tongue. The she-kit rested her head on Puzzlekit and soon fell asleep.

bic;; Razortomb's heart melted at the time when Rainbowkit yawned and rest her head on Puzzlekit. He licked their heads, and the heads of his other three kits. I'll go get you some fresh-kill. He told Moonmist. He nodded happily to Petaldance and escaped the small den. He picked up a rabbit and carried it back. He dropped it lightly in front of her and smiled.

Littlefox nodded and meowed, I'm done here. She smiled and left the den. Prophecypaw! She called. We're going to do some battle training! She told him, and waited for him at the entrance of the camp.</sub>

Moonmist purred thankfully as her mate came back with the rabbit. I'm famished, she meowed as she took a bite out of the bunny and swallowed.

She turned her mate and licked his ear. I love you, Moonmist purred.

The small tom's ears flicked up as he heard his mentor. He glanced at Crowpaw before standing awkwardly to his three paws and trotting over. Battle training? Doesn't she rememeber last time when I almost fell into the river? He asked himself as he dipped his head to Littlefox "Sorry I kept you waiting. Crowpaw and I were finally able to find time to talk" He mewed, rasing his head slowly to meet the medicine cat's eyes.

[FIREH!!]

<sub>Razortomb purred back to her. I love you too. Now I have to go hunting. But I'll be back. He licked her ears and slipped out of the nursery, and left through the camp entrance.

Littlefox smiled at her apprentice. That's alright. I'm gld you're getting along with your clan mates. She nudged him lightly. This time, we're going to practice in the camp. There's no river here. She smiled gently at him. Littlefox led her apprentice to a secluded area of the camp, and crouched. Now, use an attack I taught you last time. She instructed him, and waited for his attack.</sub>

Moonmist purred, Okay, dear, see you later. The queen looked down at her newborn kit and then rested her head on her paws.

This was going to be a long six moons.

The apprentice hobbled after his mentor, flicking his tail nervously. Ever since that day, he'd managed at forget everything Littlefox had taught him. Taking a deep breath, he crouched down half way, then stated to stagger towards his mentor before sprining and attempting to pounce upon the medicine cat. At the last minute, the three-leged apprentice tripped, falling over his front paw and landing painfully onto his back. "Oof. That wasn't supose to happen" He mewed with a s nervous laugh

_{Littlefox got up and leaned over him. Are you okay? She asked. She knew he was still nervous about practicing, ever since the disastrous episode beside the river. Here. I know a neat technique that you can use since you only have three legs. She lifted the same foot Prophecypaw was missing off the ground and leaped forward. She balanced on her three legs and leaned back on her hind legs. She swiped with her front paw and used her head like her other paw. Then she used her back legs to propel her into the air and swiped again, at the imaginary cat's back. Then she landed on three legs neatly. She put her paw down, turned, and smiled at her apprentice. You try. She told him.}

Prophecypaw nodded as he rolled onto his stomach and brought himself to his paws, watching Littlefox with intrest. His white-pupiled eyes were wide as she landed on three paws. Wow. Littlefox, I didn't know you could...or anyone else could do anything like that!"He mewed, totally blow away that there was somehow a way for a cat like him to train. After a moment, the apprentice mirrored his mentor's move, landing on his hind legs and stumbling as he came down to all three of his paws. He looked to his mentor.

_{My mother was like you. I watched her train her apprentice while I was an apprentice, and I learned a lot. Now it's paying off. She grinned. That was perfect! If you shift your weight a little to the left, you could land on your enemy's back, and he won't be able to get free. She walked over to him and licked his ears. Want to try defensive movements? She asked.}

"Oh....that would explain it. I'm glad that your mother could teach you those things" Prophecypaw mewed with a smile as he looked up at his mentor. Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind. "Littlefox..if your mother was like me and she was a warrior, why did you chose me as your apprentice?" He asked, curious. Her question about defensive training forgotten out of his mind as he sat down, watching his mentor carefully.

_{She was about to remind her apprentice they were battle training, when he asked her that question. She let out a soft sigh and sat down beside him. I chose you not because of your missing leg. I chose you because I knew you had a gift for healing. A gift only given to those who were worthy of becoming a medicine cat. I knew you were, from when you were born. I knew it because when we found you, I picked you up, and when I did, I got a strong whiff of herbs coming off of you. I knew you were meant to be my apprentice, and you proved that to me. She bent and licked his head.}

The small tom smiled as he felt the warmth of his mentor's words seep into him. He nodded, understanding showing in his white-pupiled eyes. "Thank you, Littlefox. I am glad that such a kind Clan has taken me in and that such a caring mentor was given to me." He mewed, glancing around the camp. The battle traning had been completely erased from his mind. "I am glad I have found my calling instead of trying to search for it, near and far."

_{Littlefox smiled warmly at him. I'm glad too. I remember when I was younger, trying to b exactly like my parents. I wanted to train to be a warrior. But I couldn't ever get the moves down, nor could I hunt properly. Then I was scratched by a fox that surprised us, and the medicine cat healed me. I was so amazed, that I asked to be his apprentice. She smiled.}

Prophecypaw nodded. His eyes coming back to meet his mentor's. He stood to his paws after a moment. "Should we continue with this training? Unless you'd like for me to restock the herb store. We're kinda low on a few things"He mewed, murmuring the last part for his own benifit.
