lonelyheart && brokensoul
They came from the sky.
They drifted down slowly from the dark abyss above. Their fur was covered in starlight, making their fur a ghastly silver. Brokensoul had lost his wings since Troutcatcher had gone missing, and every now and then, a stray coal-colored feather fell from his shoulder blades. His heart ached for her still. Lonelyheart was no guardian. so she didn't have wings either. They glided on their paws.
They touched down in the middle of the Eclispeclan camp. It had been a long time since either mother or son had been in the camp. Their lips curled up into smiles, and they sniffed around camp a little. Amethyeststar was long gone from this life, but Brokensoul peeked in the leader's den and saw Fernpelt, her successor, asleep.
The Starclanners met up in the clearings again, and walked together towards the warriors den. It was packed with sleeping warriors, dead to the world. Lonelyheart's eyes picked out the furry shape they had come to see, and her heart beat fast. She had been waiting for this a long time.
They padded over to Rosemarypool, their paws not making a sound. Brokensoul bent over and whispered in her ear. Wake up, Rosemarypool.

rosemarypool Rosemarypool was a bundle of silky dark tabby fur, curled in her mossy nest. She was sleeping soundly, her nose tucked under her thick tail for warmth. The she-cat was sandwiched firmly next to Silentsong, his patched pelt keeping her warm. The she-cat blinked, a line appearing between her eyes as a voice interrupted her dreams. It took a moment, but eventually Rosemarypool dragged herself out of sleep. Her leaf green eyes flickered then opened. She yawned, her pearly teeth flashing in the moonlight. Rosemarypool blinked at the entrance of the den, to see two cats there. One was white as snow. Rosemarypool had the odd feeling that she recognized the she-cat, though she had never seen such a cat in her life. Her green eyes, veiled with sleep, turned to the next cat. She gasped. Brokensoul! "Brokensoul! Oh, Brokensoul!" she mewed, happiness brightening her expression. Then she faltered. Her brother was dead. So who was this cat...? It was on the tip of her tongue, but... No. "Who... Who are you?" she mewed, addressing the snowy-pelted she-cat.

lonelyheart && brokensoul.
Brokensoul leaned back and let Rosemarypool slowly wake up. When she opened her green eyes and exclaimed loudly, he smiled warmly at her. While he was alive, he would have probably not been especially happy to see her. It's funny how it took death to make me a better cat. Hey, Rosemarypool.
Lonelyheart's heart beat fast as she waited for her daughter to wake up. I hope she can forgive me for what I've done... She licked the red heart-shaped patch on her chest, attempting to quiet her nervous heart. Finally, the warrioress opened her eyes and saw them both. She expressed happiness at see her brother, but only looked curiously at her. Lonelyheart's tail drooped. She didn't even recognize her own mother!
Lonelyheart twined her tail with Brokensoul's for a moment, to help her summon up her courage to answer the femme's question. Her voice was soft. Oh, Rosemarypool! I'm Lonelyheart, your mother.
She smiled a little.[/blockquote]

rosemarypool The longhaired she-cat returned Brokensoul's smile, though her leaf-green eyes betrayed confusion. Brokensoul never returned her cheery greetings. He'd acted like... Like he hated her in life. Maybe death had changed him...? The warrioress padded forward and brushed the black tom's starry cheek with her nose. Rosemarypool locked eyes awkwardly with the other cat, awaiting the answer of her question. She gasped as Lonelyheart spoke. Of course! That was where she had seen the face before. Those eyes, that heart-shaped patch on her chest.. Lonelyheart had been in so many of her dreams. "I... I'm sorry," she mewed, her voice flustered, embarrased at not recognizing her own mother. She nervously touched noses with the white she-cat. She had never known Lonelyheart, as the snowy-pelted she-cat had died giving birth to her. "Is... Is my father with you?" she asked hopefully. She'd always wanted to meet her father. She wanted to know a little about him, not just that he was dead as a doornail.

Brokensoul shivered as Rosemarypool touched him with her nose. He felt sad, because he really had missed her. He touched her own cheek then, and drew back.
Lonelyheart nodded curtly when her daughter apologized. No, it's okay. I understand. She really didn't, but it sounded like the right thing to say. She jerked forward and touched noses with Rosemarypool. Oh, my kit! Lonelyheart then backed up a step, surprised at her next question. Your father...? She blinked her blue eyes. I...haven't talked to Cormorantstar since we were both alive... He told me our love wasn't going to work, even though I was pregnant by then. I... took one of his lives and left him. She looked ackwardly at the ground. He might still be alive, somewhere out there... Or he might be dead. I wouldn't know. She looked up, into the femme's eyes, and wondered what she would say.[/blockquote]

rosemarypool The she-cat blinked sadly at the look in Brokensoul's eyes. If only they had had more time. She had tried and tried to gain his friendship, but he had always rejected it. He had always liked Troutcatcher better than her. "D'you know where Troutcatcher is?" she asked suddenly. "She's been missing for moons..." She trailed off as Lonelyheart began talking of her father. Her mind stopped processing the words correctly after a few words. "Cormorantstar? My father... Was Cormorantstar?" she asked in disbelief. She stared downwards at her fluffy white paws for a moment. "I... I didn't know. He died recently. I never knew him. Not as a daughter should know her father." For a moment she looked deeply upset, then her face smoothened out. "But I have you two," she mewed, trying to muster up happiness inside her.

lonelyheart && brokensoul.
Brokensoul raised his silky eyebrows when his sister asked about Troutcatcher. A pang of pain thumped in his heart. No! I thought you would know... He trailed off sadly, just as she had done. Even Starclan doesn't know where she is. I... was her guardian... but after she disapeared, my wings shrank into nothing, and I knew something was wrong...
He hunched his shoulders, and tried not to cry. Lonelyheart blinked again. Oh, you didn't know that he was? Surely I thought Razortomb would have said something... Her mouth twisted sadly as she registered the news. He's... dead? I thought I would've seen him then... She sighed to herself. But the she smiled. I will always be here for you. And me, Brokensoul butted in with a grin. Lonelyheart looked past her daughter, and found the fur bundle that was Razortomb. Oh, Razortomb... Did he ever talk to you and help raise you, like he was supposed to? And how is he?[/blockquote]

rosemarypool Rosemarypool dipped her head respectfully, acknowledging her brother's grief. She knew the black tom had loved Troutcatcher very much. She no longer carried any jealousy towards the mottled grey she-cat - she had shed all of those feelings after Brokensoul's death. She only wished she had had the chance to reconcile with Troutcatcher before... The dark brown tabby she-cat shook her head, green eyes troubled. "No," she mewed thoughtfully. "He told me nothing. But... But he was probably trying to protect me. Right...?" The warrioress's face was lit up as Lonelyheart asked how Razortomb had treated her. "He treated me like a daughter. He was like the father I never had," she mewed warmly. "He was my mentor, too. But you probably already knew that." Rosemarypool looked into the soft eyes of the white she-cat that had given her life. Did Lonelyheart know of the troubles that were heading her way...? The troubles that even she knew nothing of...?
// It means the situation between Rose, Maverick and Silent. ^^

lonelyheart && brokensoul
Brokensoul blinked his orange eyes, trying to keep the happy tears away. How could he have been so blind when he was alive. Out of nowhere, he ran forward and embraced Rosemarypool, and licked her ear. I was such a fool when I was alive. You are the best sister~ He smiled once more. Lonelyheart smiled at their embrace, but frowned at what Rosemarypool had said. I didn't know he was your mentor... I'm glad for that. But he should have told you. She hunched her shoulders now, trying to figure whether she should tell her. She finally decided to, and her mews were soft. Before I died, when I was a young, foolish thing, I had decided to throw myself in the river. This was after Cormorantstar had said no to me after I told him I was to have his kits. She sighed softly at memory. Before I could do anything, Razortomb charged out of nowhere. He said he couldn't let me kill myself, because he loved me. She pursed her lips, and tried not to show the emotions going on in her head. He saved me from myself. After that incident, he became my best friend, along with Moonmist. And I told him that, if anything happened to me, he should be the father you never had. Tears slowly trickled down her cheeks, and Brokensoul used his shoulder to support her. His smile had turned sad, because he was part of the story, too, as was Rosemarypool.[/blockquote]

rosemarypool The longhaired dark brown tabby she-cat looked faintly surprised as Brokensoul ran to her. She pressed her muzzle into his star-spangled neck, two tears rolling down her cheeks. Why couldn't they have done this in life? The she-cat hastily wiped away the crystalline tears as her brother backed away. The she-cat listened silently to her mother's story, smiling as she mentioned Razortomb. "He's happy now," she mewed, her voice still slightly thick from her earlier tears. "Moonmist is his mate. They have kits. They were made warriors recently." Rosemarypool paused, blinking at her white paws. "At... At all the Gathering's I went to, when Cormorantstar was leader of CloudClan.." she mewed, falteringly. "He never... He never said anything. Did he...? I mean, I... Did he know who I was? Who we were?" She gestured with her tail, as if she meant Brokensoul, and her two living brothers, Stonesky and Cloudsteps.

lonelyheart && brokensoul
Brokensoul went back to his mother's side, hoping none of what his sister said was going to hurt her. He look at her with worried eyes, eyes that a young cat like him should have had for his mother. But when you're dead....
Lonelyheart's eyes opened widely in surprised. They're... mates? And they had... kits? She felt a little angry, but pushed her feelings away. I see.
She took a deep breath, to recover. Then, Rosemarypool asked whether Cormorantstar knew about them. Well, he didn't know your names, I don't think. But I'm sure he knew. Being at all those gatherings, hearing about your ceremonies and such... He might've known. She daydreamed for a moment of seeing him again, up among the clouds. If I ever see him again, I'll ask him that question. Then, a fierce determenation took hold of her. I will find out. I am going to find him up there, and I am going to talk to him, once and for all. She unsheathed ivory claws, and sunk them into the cold ground.[/blockquote]

rosemarypool The longhaired tabby she-cat didn't realise that she could have hurt her mother with her words until they had fallen from her tongue. She looked anxiously as the white she-cat. She understood the she-cat's hurt and jealousy, but the bottom was, she was... Well, dead. And Razortomb had had to move on, or risk losing his own life down to grief and misery. Rosemarypool's expression smoothened out as Lonelyheart seemed to relax. She nodded at her mother's words. So Cormorantstar had known who she existed, she and her brothers, but not known their names. The longhaired dark brown tabby and white she-cat scuffed the earth with her silky snow-coloured forepaws. "Um..." she mewed uncertainly. "I.. If... If you do see him... Will you.. Could you... I'd like to meet him. Could you tell him about me? Could he.. Would he be able to see me? Like you?" Her leaf-coloured eyes were round with hope as she looked at her mother and brother.

lonelyheart && brokensoul
Brokensoul looked at Rosemarypool funny. Why do you want to know about dad so much? It's not like he did anything for us.
He snorted. Brokensoul didn't care on bit for his father. Maybe if he could see him once, that'd be fine. But Brokensoul didn't want to talk to him. Cormorantstar hadn't wanted him, or his siblings, or his mother, for that matter. Why should he want him? His mind began to stray. He tilted his head, and squinted at Rosemarypool. I wonder if she has a guardian. I doubt it.Lonelyheart's mouth grew into a crumpled line. You really want to meet your father? The one that abandon you and me and your brothers for, if I remember correctly, someone else in his clan? She let our a humff sound. Well, of course he can meet you if he wants to. I doubt he will. She sighed. If you really want to, I'll ask him. But be careful for what you wish for.[/blockquote]

rosemarypool Rosemarypool managed to deflect her brother's words, having lived with his unkindness for so many moons before he died. But she wasn't so skilled with Lonelyheart. She's supposed to reassure me, not tell me he doesn't care! Rosemarypool felt tears prick her green eyes. "How do you know he doesn't want to see me? How would you know?" The she-cat wheeled around and pushed back into the warriors' den. She found it empty, but for her nest, the nest of Silentsong, filled by his small patched body, and the secluded nest of Mavericksky, filled by his stronger frame. Rosemarypool threw herself into her nest and buried her nose in her paws. I want to wake up. I want to wake up! She shut her eyes tight, trying to push away the dream.

lonelyheart && brokensoul
Brokensoul grunted when Rosemarypool began to cry, and ran into the warriors den. Nice job, Mom,
He muttered dryly. Now you've upset her. Haven't you realized I'm the only one who can bad talk her? He grinned at that comment. Lonelyheart's mouth crumpled up once more, but this time in confusion. I was only being honest. I mean, if he didn't want us then, why would he want us now? She shrugged her thin shoulders. Well, I think I've done enough damage. Mother and son went back into the warriors den. Lonelyheart touched her nose to Rosemarypool's dark head, and whispered, I'm so sorry, darling. Now it's my time to go. Brokensoul will stay with you a little longer. She touched noses with Brokensoul, before walking back out into the dark clearing. Brokensoul watched as she crouched down, and jumped high into the air. He watched her glide up, up, until he couldn't see her anymore. He turned back to his sister. She's gone now. You don't have to pretend anymore.[/blockquote]

rosemarypool The she-cat could still hear the muffled voices of her mother and Brokensoul, so she placed her paws over her ears childishly. The longhaired dark brown tabby she-cat buried her face in the moss, wishing she could just wake up. As she felt a light touch on her fur, she slowly lowered her paws and blinked open her green eyes. Her fur was sticking to her cheeks uncomfortably with tears. Rosemarypool sat up, her shoulders shaking a little. "Oh, Brokensoul," she whispered. "I've messed everything up, haven't I?" The she-cat stared at her white paws for a moment, then, to avoid meeting her brother's eyes, glanced around the den. It was then that she truly took in who was still in the nest. Mavericksky and Silentsong? What was the significance of that? They were both her friends, but... Was that all?

&& brokensoul
Brokensoul touched his sister's ear gentlely. He smiled sadly at her. No, no. Everything's going to be fine. He sighed. Aren't you glad you met her, though? He looked past her, a memory in his eyes. She's the one... that killed me, you know. But she was hyponitized by that horrible cat, Heartlessfrost. She's all better now, even better than she was before. He looked at her eyes, which were full of worry, and some sort of conflict. You need guidance, He murmured.[/blockquote]
