~[Brackenpaw]~
The camp seemed peaceful enough after the battle as many were mourning for there fallen companions or were recovering from their new scars. All silence was broken as a large apprentice came screeching into camp, giving out a loud, bloody yowl that she was sure everyone would here and gather around to find out what happened. She almost sounded like the Tribe of Nightmares had come back, but this was worse. She stood in the middle of the clearing, her eyes glazed over with the burden that she has to share with the rest of the Clan. Her sides were heaving as she tried to catch her breath. Finally she got enough and gave out a loud yowl.
"Amethyststar is dead!" She yowled sorrowfully. She then collapsed in the middle of the clearing, her limbs aching from so much running, and for the lose of there own leader. She had to continue on, but she did so in a quieter voice, though the camp could still hear her clearly. "C-Corbynfeather killed her. T-there at Serenity f-falls. Spicetalon is with them."

"What?"
Scrawltale rose from where she sat vigil at her daughter's body. Her tail still lay protectively over Sunheart's skinny, mottled ginger flank. The Rex she-cat glanced back at her injured kit, before padded quietly up to Brackenpaw. "Are you sure about this, Brackenpaw?" she mewed in a hushed voice. "Are you sure you wern't just distracted by the battle and everything?" Worry pulsed through Scrawltale for her mother. Then she dismissed it as a revelation crossed her mind. "Besides, Amethyststar has her nine lives. She won't be dead." Scrawltale looked at her apprentice for an explanation, yellow eyes kind but urgent.

:: [ Time after time ] ::
Mavericksky
:: [ I'm going in blind ] :: Mavericksky exited the warrior's den majestically, puffing out his chest to groom it carefully. He ran his rough tongue along his creamy front, getting rid of the curls. He saw his grandmother Scrawltale and padded over to her, dipping his head to the older Ginger Rex. "Greetings, Scrawltale," he said formally. He turned his head to Brackenpaw to address her in welcome as well. From his bearing and deep voice, you would of thought that Mavericksky was a high-ranking cat, not a newly-named warrior with an apprentice in tow. He lifted his jaw to gaze upon his mother, and, seeing that her state was unchanged, he sighed and turned to Brackenpaw. His tail perked up as well as his ears when he heard what the she-cat had said.
He turned to Scrawltale. "No, Amethyststar lost one life in the battle against the Tribe, and I do not know how many she had before hand," he told his grandmother quietly.
The ginger tom turned to Brackenpaw. "Go alert Fernpelt, Glacierstripe, Solsticesong, Littlefox, and Prophecypaw of what you have seen. I will go to Spicetalon."
The young warrior turned to Scrawltale once more. "Can you make sure everyone doesn't go into anarchy?" he asked her, knowing that she was highly respected in the Clan and that most Clanners would listen to her.

~[Brackenpaw]~
"N-no. She's dead, I saw her with my own eyes." Brakenpaw wailed, wishing she was a kit back in the nursery, knowing she was safe next to her own Mother... if her mother hadn't left, that is. Her mind went back towards her childhood and losing her whole family with in only a few moons. She looked up at her mentor, Scrawltale. "She's dead, it was her last life, I think. She landed on a sharp rock which pierced her side. Even if she had a life left, not even StarClan could heal her wound."
Brackenpaw nodded after Mavericksky told her what to do. She forced herself to get up off the ground, despite her exhaustion, and went off to find the Deputy and Warriors. First she bolted towards the Medicine cat den to find Littlefox and Prophecypaw. She was sure that they would be in there tending to the injured cats. "Littlefox! Prophecypaw!! Help!!"

Already tired out, the tom dragged himself into camp, with his lifeless leader upon his shoulders. He reached the centre of the camp, and rolled her body off his shoulders. Amethystar is dead! He yowled to them. He turned his head down, the silver droplets falling again. They touched the dust around his body, forming a trail dripping towards Amethystar's body. A thin mist began to fall again, as it had stopped on his trek home.
Spicetalon pressed his nose into his sister's pelt, before turning away. We need Fernpelt... She needs to know... Brackenpaw... Listen to... Mavericksky... He dragged the words out. Then he turned and limped painfully over to Littlefox's den. His adrenaline had worn off, and now he was exhausted, and grief-stricken.
When Littlefox saw his state, she ran to him. What happened? She asked him gently. The tom shook his head. Amethystar... He flicked his tail towards the lifeless body. Littlefox followed with her eyes, and drew a gasp as she noticed the form. Prophecypaw, can you look at Spicetalon for me? I need to tend to our fallen leader.. She meowed. Then she raced off. Littlefox cleaned the wounds the leader had recieved, and prepared her. She made her pelt shine, as it once did. Then she sat at her head, staring up at the sky, as she waited for the clan to gather.
The newly named Sphinxtale raced out of the warriors' den, hearing the news. She skidded to a halt beside Mavericksky. What happened? She asked him, her eyes never leaving the horrid sight of Amethystar.
Razortomb, helping Rainbowpaw with her nest in the apprentices' den, heard the news. My mother's dead.... He mewed quietly. Turning in the direction of the exit, he flicked his tail and exited the den. Mommy.. He murmured. At once another horrid sight filled his eyes. Lonelyheart at the Serenity Falls, about to take her own life. He had stopped her. Why couldn't he prevent the death of his mother? He ran over to the lifeless body and pressed his nose into her side. He was alone... Utterly alone.

Mavericksky turned to his sister. "According to Brackenpaw, our grand-uncle killed Amethyststar," he said quietly. "Her own son..." He looked away from Sphinxtale, gazing upon the dark coat of his former leader. He wondered if Fernpelt was still talking with his former mentor and Solsticesong.
Grebekit explored outside the nursery, her fiery eyes watching every panicked motion around her. The brown and black she-cat blinked and wrinkled her nose, smelling the stench of death. It was like the aura that surrounded her father, and she ran back to her mother. "Momma! Ammiestar's on the ground!" she called, pushing against her flank to get Petaldance up.
"What's going on?" Troutcatcher asked softly, poking her head out of the warrior's den. The mottled she-cat shifted her weight idly, staring through the gaps between the cats' bodies and seeing Amethyststar. She sighed, bending her ears back.
"This better be good," Solsticesong grunted, flicking her tail as she stood up. The large she-cat strolled out of the warrior's den, broom-like tail waving side to side. "What is this, an auction for squirrel nests? Get out of the way!" She shuffled everyone aside so that she could get a good look, and then the she-cat let out a grunt. "Well...not exactly the price I was going for. Fernpelt, mind taking a look at this? It'll interest you the most, queenie."
Yewchime blinked as Grebekit ran past her towards Petaldance and, at hearing the she-kit's announcement, the queen lifted herself up and walked out of the nursery to see what was going on.

[[Prophecypaw]] His tail flicked back and forth as he limped out after Littlefox, nearly falling over as he stopped short. Amytheststar was dead. His blue-silver eyes were wide with shock. The cat that had taken him in as a kit was gone. the kind leader that had allowed this three-leged apprentice into EclipseClan...was gone? He shook his head before doing as his mentor asked and padding towards Spicetalon. "Stay still, please. This may sting once the herbs soak in" He mewed, his voice soft and hiding emotion.

Still recovering from the shock of being warriored, and seeing her mother in such a state, Mahoganyflight had taken refuge in the warrior's den. She didn't hear exactly what was going on, but sensed the unwelcoming feeling that all was not right. Her immediate thoughts went to the Tribe. Had they come back? She thought, scared. She pushed herself into the crowd and then stopped dead. She stared at Amethyststar's body, surprised at what she saw. She spotted Mavericksky and ran to him and Sphinxtale, her sister. 'What happened? I was in the Warrior's den. Amethyststar can't be dead, she has nine lives!' Unknown to her, she was quoting exactly what Scrawltale had said. She tried to seek comfort with her siblings, but felt cold hatred toward the cat who had done this. 'Who did this?' She cried out angrily. She wanted her revenge, and she wanted it now.[/sup]

maplepaw He didn't want to wake up, despite the commotion of other apprentices in the den yawning and complaining of the hubbub outside of their haven, so he shut his deep green eyes tighter, dark silver ears pressing against his tabby, small head. "Oh, be quiet" he complained quietly, his physique moving to find another position perhaps away from the noise. He heard a few words constantly, dead, dead... Amethyststar, dead, his mentor talking, Brackenpaw talking. It took the new apprentice awhile to piece up all of this information, as he yawned and took a sideways glance outside, barely seeing out. What was every cat crowding around? It must be something important-- and the moment had dawned on him. Was his leader dead?
Maplepaw ran out quietly, stepping consciously over the still sleeping apprentices (how can they sleep through this?) before he carefully made his way out of the den, peering at Mavericksky, his mentor, curiously, wishing to hop and jump around to see what they were looking at, but afraid to look silly. Suddenly the rotten, tell-tale stench of a dead cat hit him and his ears pressed against his head again, eyes shutting as he for the moment, looked away. He mustn't look weak... he shuddered, before looking forward toward his mentor, carefully making his way toward him, and as he got there, he had a good view of the she cats body. How could she die? Who would kill her? She was the cat that accepted him into the Clan as a mere kit!

scrawltale.
Scrawltale nodded to Mavericksky. She frowned at her grandson, the lines on her brow deepening. It wasn't true, it couldn't be. The she-cat's lips curled back to reveal her curved white teeth as the stench of blood filled the air. Her yellow eyes flashes as Spicetalon staggered into camp, a limp black shape on his back. Scrawltale's face twisted in horror. She stumbled away from Brackenpaw to stand beside her brother, Razortomb. Scrawltale stared in horror at her mother's body. No, she'll wake up in a minute... She has nine lives... But Amethyststar didn't move. Scrawltale trembled, her thin pelt brushing Razortomb's. "She's gone." Her voice was bleak and cold.
beacansong.
The arguing voices and stink of shock and blood filled his nostrils, causing Beacansong to poke his head out of the warriors' den. He was on top of the world. Fernpelt was expecting kits. His kits. He was going to be a father. Beacansong wrinkled his nose at the stench. He slipped through the crowds, spotting the tops of his mother's huge, batlike ears. Standing beside Scrawltale, he could see Amethyststar's body. He breathed in shortly, his yellow eyes wide. Their leader was dead. Beacansong swallowed, paws trembling. He had never been very close to his grandmother, but... Now she was gone. Beacansong shivered. What was going to happen to EclipseClan now?
puzzlepaw.
Puzzlepaw had been sleeping in the pprentices' den, nose tucked beneath his thick tail. The scents around him were unfamiliar. He somewhat missed the warm scent of his mother beside him, but he knew he would get used to it. The commotion woke the young black, grey and white tabby tom, and he uncurled slowly, stretching out his forelegs. His ears pricked in interest as he heard, Amethyststar is dead! Puzzlepaw hurried from beneath the ferns, head bowed. His eerie amber eyes bulged. So it was true. Their leader was dead. He flattened his ears. At least they had a reliable deputy... But Amethyststar was gone. It was strange. She'd been there since before he was born, and... Puzzlepaw's mind glowed with sudden realization. She was his grandmother. Well. She had been his grandmother.
kinkajoukit.
Tiny pawsteps pattered from just inside the nursery. Kinkajoukit hung back as Grebekit darted from the secure bramble thicket. Petaldance was gone too. The tiny tabby wailed unhappily. "What for me, Grebekit!" Kinkajoukit scampered after his tortoiseshell sister, his little paws stumbling on the rough ground. He could smell something gross. It made him want to lick his muzzle clean. It reminded him of fresh kill. Kinkajoukit padded to Grebekit's side, and saw Amethyststar's body. "Dead?" he echoed dumbly. Then it hit him. Amethyststar was dead. Who would protect them now? Kinkajoukit began to sob loudly over the shocked silence, blue eyes welling up and leaking.

The graceful tortoiseshell figure of Fernpelt materialised on the scene, having been resting in the warriors den after the battle. Her jaw dropped for a second as she sighted Amethyststar's body, and realised that the shouts flying around camp had been the truth. Fernpelt froze. This meant she would be leader. And she was expecting kits. What would she do now? She gathered herself into action mode and leapt nimbly onto Shade Rock, giving a loud, clear yowl that bounced off the trees and echoed on the rocks. 'Everyone, settle down! Everything's going to be fine. I need everyone's attention, though, so I can talk to you all about what's happened. Spicetalon, Brackenpaw, come up here and tell us what happened. You were evidently there at the time of this incident.' she said, authority landing on her patched shoulders like a pair of weights.

Silentsong
I'm falling in love You tempting dove I'm needing your heart I'm falling apart It was true. She was dead. The cat he'd once partially looked up to had killed her. He spat in disgust, recalling how he had began to gain some of Corbynfeather's personality as an apprentice. Silentsong didn't feel as much grief as most of the other cats, though. He had barely ever talked to the leader. Actually, he never had. Only at his ceremonies when he had to say "I do." That was it, the end of the line. Yet it was definitely a melancholy happening, such a downcast after everything had been going so right- he had an apprentice, he had a friend, he had it all. Amethyststar's death seemed to gloom and darken the day. It was tough, but the tortoiseshell colored tom could get through it.[/blockquote]

A thin body stirred from the depths of her bed, and she stretched, pain finally registered after all this time that she had numbed it down. She blinked and saw her mother, Scrawltale. Sunheart unsteadily sat up, groaning slightly. "Mother...," she said quietly, wobbling on scrawny limbs over to the ginger Rex. She nearly collapsed again, knowing that she shouldn't move again. "I had such weird dreams..." Pain struck her again. "What's happening?" Sunheart asked.Grebekit // And we're standing one and all fighting till we FALL // Grebekit let out a little mew when she heard her brother crying. "Kinkajoukit?" she asked, padding her feet out there. "Stop your crying! Miss Fernpelt's gonna take care of everything." The black and brown she-kit pointed with her nose up to the pretty she-cat atop Shade Rock. "See?" She sat down and groomed herself before meowing cheekily for her mother. "Momma! Come on!" she grumped impatiently.

Hearing a faint stir of breath, and a call out, Sphinxtale raced over to her mother. Mom! You're awake! She pressed her nose gently into her side. We all thoguht you would die. She murmured, tears of joy streaming down her face.
He nodded to Prophecypaw. When he had finished, Spicetalon thanked him and padded to Fernpelt. I - I saw Amethystar leave the camp in a rage. I knew she was on her last life, and I knew something bad was going to happen. So I followed her. I realized she was following Corbynfeather... I finally reached Serenity Falls, and noticed a struggling mass of black at the top of the falls. Down fell Corbynfeather and Amethystar. Amethystar was pierced by a sharp rock, and Corbynfeather landed on her. He walked away, unharmed. I confronted him and demanded an explanation. He had told me that there was no place in Eclipseclan for him anymore. Now he wanders alone, nkown as Corbyn. He meowed. Then he glanced at his sister. Then back at Fernpelt. You are now our leader.. He murmured to her.
Razortomb sat up and leaned against Scrawltale, his sister. What are we going to do without her? He asked. The tom shook his head. She's gone... Dad's gone.... Who else has gone? Too many of our kin.. He mumbled sadly. A fresh wave of tears fell down his face and he buried his head in her shoulder.

Fernpelt nodded silently as Spicetalon recounted the episode. 'Thank you, Spicetalon.' she looked down at Amethyststar's body, and bowed her head, as she heard Spicetalon's last words 'You are now our leader'. Fernpelt's stomach flipped as she took on the full meaning of the phrase. Then she quickly thought up a plan in her head. She once again cleared her throat and called to the Clan. 'Amethyststar is dead, because of Corbynfeather, her own son. I will sit vigil with Amethyststar's body tonight.' she said, pausing before going on to her next point. 'I also have something to tell the Clan, and a deputy to appoint. My news is that, after battle, Cloudedsky, the medicine cat of BrightClan, told me that I was pregnant. Now that I am to become leader, I have decided that I will step down and let my deputy, who I will name in a second, take charge until my kits are old enough to be looked after by a willing cat. Thus, I will not take my leader name until after this has happened. If any cat has anything to say, I would be happy to address them.' she said, gazing around the Clan camp.

bic;; Spicetalon dipped his head and padded over to the lifeless form of Amethystar. He pressed his nose quickly into her fur. His eyes were hollow with grief and pain, but he had to be strong. He was a senior warrior, the clan needed him and his fellow senior warriors to be strong for the clan. He sucked in a deep breath and let it out slowly, before looking at Fernpelt, waiting for her announcement.

Your tears don't fall y e w c h i m e__xx They c r a s h around me Yewchime's massive form stood upright as she lifted up her head to face her deputy. "Fernpelt!" she called out, her voice stern with responsibility. "I have no qualms with taking care of your kits when they are born." She turned her head to the nursery. "I'm sure the other queens will say the same." She knew that it was heartache to be apart from one's kits, but everyone had sacrifices to make. It was the Warrior Code to give up a deputy's and leader's kits to a dutiful queen so that she could continue to lead the Clan. StarClan had already punished EclipseClan when Amethyststar had become pregnant, and Yewchime prayed that they would not do so again. She had broken the Warrior Code once before, and the punishment had been her kits' lives. She would not allow the Code to be overruled once more.

[ooc]Haha lol Ferns you know i would love to be your deputy but i cant SerenityClan needs a Clearpool lol.
[bic] Petaldance raised her head from where she was lying in the nursery when she watched Grebekit race outside. She stood and streatched, staggering as suddenly the stench of death hit her. Eyes like saucers she ran outside after her daughter. "Great StarClan!" she gasped when she saw her leaders body, tears leaking out from lilac-blue orbs. Pantherstealth would be distraught when he woke up. How would she tell him? Her gaze landed on her son and she hurried over to him, shielding his crying form form the crowd. "Its okay baby" she murmered softly to him, licking his head gently. Why had her kits had to grow up in such a time of despair? It just wasnt right. She shushed Grebekit quietly before looking up at Shade Rock. She listened to Fernpelt speak, nodding quietly at her words. As Yewchime spoke she piped up for the first time. "I would also be happy to halp care for your kits" she called to the pretty femme, dipping her head to the pretty femme. Then she looked around. Who would be picked for new deputy?
Lilakit ran out of the nursery after her mother, the scent of blood terrifying the kitten. Crouching down beside Petaldance with wide lilac eyes she observed the scene in front of her, making scared little squeaking noises as she saw the majestic body of Amethyststar in front of her. She ahd always seen the leader as so noble, so strong. But now she was dead. What would they do now? "Mummy i'm scared" she whispered as tears began to streak down her face. Why did everything have to be so horrible? [/blockquote]

Toweringheart wasn't shocked to hear more voices coming from outside. Everything was going horribly that day, so another disaster would be normal. The massive warrior was lying in the warrior's den, trying to sleep but as he was about to dose off, their were more voices. He groaned and poked his head out the den to see a lifeless black body of bloody matted fur lying on the ground. His breath did a quick intake and he slowly closed his eyes for a moment. He had remembered the look Amethyststar had given him when they were leaving the battle. She had felt sorry about their mother. She had always been caring about her family. He had never expected her to die so suddenly. No, be murdered so suddenly. He slowly crept out of the den and took a seat beside Mavericksky, trying not to look at Amethyststar. It hurt too much. Fernpelt would be a good leader, even if she was pregnant, right? And her Deputy? Who would that be? So many questions flashed through his head as he watched, and thank StarClan it distracted him from his dead leader.

kinkajoukit Kinkajoukit staggered towards Grebekit as his sister appeared next to him. He wailed, his white teeth visible. The tiny brown tabby was not just crying for Amethyststar. The sense of misery and anger in the clearing sent thrills of terror running through his body. The little tabby kit gave a mew as his mother scooped him. He huddled against her soft chest fur, Lilakit beside him. Kinkajoukit shut his huge blue eyes, trying to block out the voices around him. He tried to pretend it was all a dream, but every time he had managed it the stink of blood filled his nostrils again. Kinkajoukit buried his nose in Petaldance's fur, breathing in her warm scent. [/blockquote] beacansong Beacansong ran to Sunheart's side as she staggered upright. The thin Rex warrior pressed himself against his sister's flank in an attempt to help her stand. The tom then watched his tortoiseshell mate mount the Shaderock. Beacansong's yellow eyes glittered with pride. She was going to be such a good leader. But what about their kits...? The warrior relaxed when she spoke again. He raised his chin, not caring what they thought. His eyes were filled with love for his brave mate. She was staying strong despite the shock at Amethyststar's death and the recent news that she was going to be a mother. Beacansong looked gratefully at Yewchime and Petaldance as they offered to help care for their kits when they were born. scrawltale Scrawltale leant against her brother's inky black flank, her yellow eyes wide with shock and grief. She remembered her days as a tiny kit, playing with Razortomb. She recalled her dead brother, Cloakedkit, and her dead sister, Colourkit. She swallowed a lump in her throat. At least her mother would be reunited with her son, daughter and mate, Glasshawk. Scrawltale felt tears well up in her yellow eyes. Yes, Razortomb was right. Their mother was gone, their father was gone. She pressed herself against Razortomb, as though clinging to him. She couldn't let him go, too.

Limping over to Toweringheart, Limepaw watched wide-eyed with her kneck fur bristling. What?! Amethyststar had been leader since before she had been born! She leaned her light frame on Toweringheart, struggling to keep her balance as her head spun with confusion and exaustion. Amethyststar was dead. Fernpelt would become leader. And she'd choose a brand-new deputy. Closing her eyes, Limepaw tried to block out everything but Toweringheart's warmth. She didn't want to think about Amethyststar being dead. She wanted the black femme to burst to life after a prolongued viset with StarClan She wanted it. It didn't come.
Maplepool burst out of the den beside her sister, her fur on end. Corbynfeather had killed his own mother? He had always seemed to dislike her, but he had killed her? Rage bubbled up inside her. She had never known her mother, and Corbynfeather had let it slip through his paws so easily that he had killed her? Strangly enough, it wasn't at all the thought that the mighty Amethyststar was dead that disturbed her. It was Corbynfeather that made her blood boil. "I'll kill him!'' she yowled with a sudden outburst of violence.

The silver apprentice aloud Spicetalon to explain everything to the Clan. Besides, he saw more of what happened then she did. Brackenpaw only happened to be there by chance, trying to escape everything, yet everytime she wanted to escape something, something landed up happening. 'I have to stop running from everything.' She decided as forced herself to sit among her Clanners, despite her claustrophobia. She ignored all those around her and focused on Fernpelt as she tried to guess who was going to be the next Clan Deputy.

maplepaw It's amazing how much one can hear when they're not actually paying attention at all... just sort of letting life flow past them, suddenly though life gets impatient and they wake up, afraid of how much time has passed... The silver toms sides were still shivering at the realization of the death of his leader, the whole Clan's leader, and dark green eyes watched Kinkajoukit cry in fear, though Grebekit as always seeming to comfort him in her harsh, enduring way. He was watching Fernpelt curiously, still shivering although summer had fully begun, shivering throughly from fear and mixed, crazy emotions. His tail tip flicked and he left his mentors side, looking for a spot away from the body of his leader, but a certain familiar sound caught his ear before anything else could be decided.
In one swift motion that he didn't even know he decided to make, his paws flew toward the medicine cat den, and as his foster mother awoke, he stood there, blinking in a manor which could be called almost afraid. Was she okay? He stretched upward to touch his nose gently to her cheek, unsure of what to do, unsure of how much he should say. Should he say what he has never told her before - how much he loved her like every kit loves his mother? Or should he just sit there, being polite in a stiff manor. It was all so confusing.

Sunheart felt the rush of bodies on her and it was overwhelming. She closed her dull eyes and let their scents wash over her. She was in a river, standing firmly in the middle while everything and everyone was rushing past frantically. When the she-cat finally was able to sit down, she wanted to collapse, to let the world go black, but she couldn’t do that, not yet. She smiled painfully at Sphinxtale, Beaconsong, and Maplepaw, giving the latter a good gentle wash with her tongue when he came near. “I need to talk to all of you when you guys get the chance,” she said softly, touching noses to Sphinxtale and Maplepaw. “Tell your brothers and Mahoganyflight that.” She was weak; she knew she’d be following Amethyststar soon.

prophecypaw He asked softly, his eyes flicking towards Sphinxtale and Maplepool before going back to the weak she-cat. He knew her future was short. He could feel it as he touched his nose to her side. [/ul] glacierfrost[/ul]

Sunheart turned her head to Prophecypaw and shook her head weakly. "No, I'm alright," she said softly, smiling at the tom that had helped her ever since they had returned from the Tribe with her broken, comatose body. She had only a black period from falling in battle to now, when she had stirred to greet her family and Clan. Her smile threatened to fail. "Thank you, dear..." The queen knew that she should have stayed by Petaldance's side. She wasn't cut out to be a warrior...
Solsticesong was absently running her eyes over the Clan as Fernpelt made her announcement. The she-cat let her smile have free reign, a blade of grass fluttering in her mouth. Her gaze caught on Glacierfrost and she let a slight smirk grace her face. She waved her tail, motioning for her mate to join her by her side if he wished. "You're late for the auction," she commented dryly. It was only when it concerned someone of her family did she lose her sarcastic tone.

Sunheart smiled at Prophecypaw. “Thanks, but they’re not kits anymore,” she said quietly, living her head up to Mavericksky, Sphinxtale, Toweringheart, and Mahoganyflight. “They’ll be taking care of their own families soon enough.” Her weak smile was fragile and fleeting, like a baby bird hopping around.
Solsticesong snorted and flicked her tail. “Corbynfeather slew his mother,” she said softly. “Fernpelt is our new leader, and she’s giving her kits to the queens when they are born.” The she-cat rolled her shoulders back and leaned on Glacierfrost idly.
