An orange she-kit came bounding from the nursery. She wasn't all that cold; her pelt was long and thick, and her blood was always flowing because she was so hyper. "I'M BORED!!!" she screeched. No answer came that she took any consideration of before suggesting a game. "Let's play that game where we gotta defend our Clan from a big, mean fox!" The 'Warriors Vs. Fox' game she made up was her favorite of all. Such was so because she loved to tackle cats for no reason. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon!" Mahoganykit bounced in circles while waiting for a reply, and gave a sudden spasm when she ceased. This often happened wen she stood still because of her endless energy."Whaddya say?"
A muscular form slunk out of the apprentice den. No longer did Corbynpaw affect him; he wanted to be trained to become a warrior for once. His tortoiseshell fur was ruffled and unkempt, and his eyes were glazed. No longer did he even go to the elders' den to crack fleas and ticks as he used to. His gaze flickered to Mahoganykit. She drove him nuts. She loved playing 'Warriors Vs. Fox,' and he was always the fox. That meant tiny fangs digging into his pelt and fresh, ivory claws bearing upon his flank. It obviously did not cause as much pain as a real warrior's weapons would, but it was still annoying either way.[/sup]

Toweringkit looked up and smiled softly when the tortoiseshell she-cat appeared from wherever she had come from. His hazel eye dancing with his normal kindness but grew to balls of gratitude when she spoke of him getting the she-cats. His face lit up so bright and when she looked back at him, he nodded but stayed in his place, not showing any emotions by moving. He just smiled. Soon the cats began to leave. First Pantherstealth, a strong warrior who Toweringkit would tower over soon, and Petaldance, his mother's best friend. The young kit was a bit upset when Razortomb came and asked in Rosemarypaw wanted to hunt. He liked the older apprentice more than any other apprentice in the Clan because she was calm and nice to him and didn't drool over his brother. But whatever, he really didn't mind if she left. It would just be him and his siblings... Again like always.

Razortomb smiled at his mate, and mewed again to Rosemarypaw, We'll be waiting at the entrance. He smiled at her and padded away, to wait.
Gillwing scented his apprentice. The tom followed him, and prodded Silentpaw with a paw. Come on, let's train. The tom meowed. Then he left, and waited for him.

Rosemarypaw mewed a bright greeting as her mentor padded towards them. She reached out to touch noses with the stocky black tom, after dipping her head respectfully to him. The longhaired dark brown tabby blinked her leaf-green eyes as Razortomb suggested a hunt. "D'you mind if I sit out of this one?" she mewed, flicking her feathery tail. "I'm a bit tired. And I'm sure you two would rather hunt alone." The last comment was not meant sulkily; there was amusement in her voice. Rosemarypaw turned back to the kits and their mother, finding another had appeared. She smiled down at Toweringkit; the gangly tom looked a little lonely among his rather more energetic, loud siblings. "How many more of you are there?" she asked in mock exasperation. Her voice was warm. "So, what have you been up to?" Rosemarypaw sat a little way in front of Toweringkit, genuinely interested.
Pantherstealth grinned, dipping his head in goodbye to the other warriors. "G'bye, ladies," he mewed, dipping his head and flicking his ears. "See ya, kits." The dappled tom nodded to Spicetalon and Razortomb in turn, before following Petaldance towards the entrance of the camp. He smiled a sharp toothed smile at her, dark amber eyes flashing the same shade of fire. "Ready to go?" he mewed, voice friendly and bold as usual.

Razortomb nodded to his apprentice. I'll take you out for battle prctice tomorrow, okay? he cuffed her playfully around the ear, before disappearing. Where do you want to hunt? He asked Moonmist, returning to her side.

Petaldance turned her lilac blue eyes towards Pantherstealth as he spoke. "Sure am. Lest go" she said, her tail flicking to the side. She felt relly comfrotable with Pantherstealth, which she thought strange as she hardly knew the big, strong dappled warrior. Her eyes met his dark amber ones and she looked into them thoughtfully for a moment. Then, turning away, she padded out of the entrance.

Silentpaw's eyes would have gleamed if they could, but still that odd mist of misery hung about him and prevented his orbs from shining. He simply emitted a smile accompanied by a curt and respectful nod, then trotted after his mentor.
Somewhat irritated was the little pale orange kit. She tended to like attention a lot, although unsure as to why herself. Suddenly she forgot her bit of aggression and went calm. Such was due to how fickle Mahoganykit was. She peacefully padded next to Toweringkit, but emitted no sound. Instead, she stood watching all else that was occurring.[/sup]

She shook her head and shrugged, "I dunno, where do you wanna go?" Moonmist looked up at the sky, which she happened to do a lot, and smiled. It was snowing slightly, and she loved the snow. "How about we just skip hunting and go for a walk, maybe update the scent markers if we need to," she looked at him and grinned, "I'm not really in the mood for hunting."

Razortomb purred and licked her ears. Sure! He meowed, Let's go! He began to walk through the camp entrance, brushing his tail across her flank as he went by.
Gillwing noticed his apprentice following him, and he slowed down. What do you want to train today? He asked his apprentice, sitting down.

Toweringkit's eyes grew a bit wider when Rosemarypaw declined her hunting trip with her mentor and his mate. He couldn't believe that she would have said no to an offer like that, but yet he could. The two were mates and it seemed Rosemarypaw respected that. Maybe she really was just tired. When the longhaired dark brown tabby looked at him, he smiled brightly and when she spoke in her warm tone, Toweringkit felt soothed even though Mahoganykit was sitting next to him. He took no notice of her existence. Instead, he responded to Rosemarypaw. "There are just four of us," he said in his soft gentle voice,"Maverickkit, Sphinxkit, Mahoganykit, and me." His yellow eyes twinkled in the sunlight an a small white snowflake landed on his pudgy pink nose. He shook it off and shrugged to the older apprentice's next question. "Oh nothing, just watching my brother drool over the other warriors and listening to my mother's friends. It's kind of boring over here..." he sighed, flicking his ears back and rocking back and forth on his back paws. So far so good with the fighting, but it was likely for one to break out any minute. Mahoganykit was already upset that no one was paying attention to her, so she sat next to the calm one, Toweringkit, to possibly stick out. Maverickkit was getting all the attention from the other warriors, who were now starting to leave and Sphinxkit was with Sunheart... What would happened next? Even Toweringkit didn't know, but he would be stuck in the middle and that was a fact.

"Bye Pantherstealth..." Maverickkit's little mouth curled downward into a faint pout. "Awww, I wanna come," he said even though it would never happen. Sunheart would never let him go out since he was a kit, and in this weather? Oh, no, definately not! The light-ginger tomkit frowned and padded away from the departing warriors, pointedly away from his bratty sisters Mahoganykit and Sphinxkit before snuggling against his mother's chest so that his head laid on her forearm.
Sunheart blinked at her son cuddling close to her and she nuzzled him gently before flicking her tail towards the other warriors. "Have fun!" she called out, smiling genuinely at Petaldance.

Rosemarypaw smiled as Toweringkit named his siblings. She nodded. "There are four of us, too," she told the little tom. "My three brothers, Stonepaw, Cloudpaw and Brokenpaw, and me. I'm the only she-cat." Rosemarypaw blinked her deep green eyes slightly to clear them as she thought of Brokenpaw. The black tom had never liked her, or felt the bond of kinship. Rosemarypaw twitched her whiskers, accepting the fact that her cold brother would never like or respect her, no matter how hard she tried to befriend him. Rosemarypaw smiled again as Toweringkit spoke about his brother, Maverickkit. She noticed how the kitten's brow furrowed slightly as he spoke. She couldn't really say that she thought too much of the flame coloured kit, either; he was a little arrogant, a little too full of himself, for her. Rosemarypaw blinked down at Toweringkit as he expressed his boredom. The dark brown tabby and white apprentice was faintly surprised; for such a young cat, Toweringkit hid his emotions well. "I can show the apprentices' den, if your mother doesn't mind," she offered. "But don't tell Maverickkit." Rosemarypaw's green eyes glittered with humour - she liked Toweringkit. He was not loud or attention seeking, like some other kits she could have mentioned, but quiet, sensible and polite.

// Just for the record, Toweringkit isn't a little cat. His name says it all. XD
Toweringkit nodded when she mentioned her three brothers. He had never seen nor met Cloudpaw or Stonepaw before and Brokenpaw had run into the larger kit before, not even apologizing and then ran off to go wherever he went. He had been told later that the tom was Brokenpaw and that he wasn't one to be social with. Rosemarypaw was very nice and polite which made it a pity to see Brokenpaw so mean and heartless. Toweringkit had learned from an Elders story that the father of Rosemarypaw and her brothers was Cormorantstar, the former Leader of CloudClan. He wondered where the tom was now. He pricked his large bat-like ears when he heard of getting to see the apprentices den. His eyes grew wider and he nodded, shaking a bit with excitement. Quickly, he turned to his mother and whispered in her ear, "Mommy, can I go see the Apprentice's den with Rosemarypaw?" Toweringkit noticed Maverickkit getting all the attention and Mahoganykit getting none. He quickly backed out from in between them and looked at his mother for a response.

Sunheart lowered her ear to Toweringkit. "Sure, dear, just don't get too cold. If you get cold, come back to the nursery, hear?" the little ginger Rex queen smiled and then turned down to Maverickkit. "And you, young man, are done for the day. Get back in the nursery until you stop being mean to your sisters." Maverickkit's cheery expression dropped. "But Mom~!" he wailed, coming to his paws in protest. "Nursery, Maverickkit," Sunheart said in a tone that mean 'no discussion'. Maverickkit pouted unhappily as he stormed off to the nursery. Sunheart turned to Sphinxkit and Mahoganykit, holding them close to her. "Now then, how are my girls doing?"

Rosemarypaw smiled as Toweringkit padded quietly towards his mother to ask her permission. The apprentice sat back on her haunches, her long silky fur drifting slightly out of place in the breeze. The dark brown tabby she-cat licked a thin layer of dust from her small white paws, blinking her green eyes. A sheet of snow had begun to fall, landing heavily on her coat and tail. The apprentice stood up, shaking the frost from her thick coat with a little shiver. Rosemarypaw smiled again as Toweringkit padded happily back towards her. Her eyes were diverted as she heard Sunheart's gentle voice, and then Maverickkit's loud, whining tones. The she-cat got to her paws before an argument broke out, sweeping her tail in an arc to summon Toweringkit. "Come on," she mewed, voice quiet. She didn't want the retreating Maverickkit, or Sphinxkit and Mahoganykit, to see them and get jealous.

Toweringkit smiled brightly as his mother agreed that he could go and as he backed away to meet Rosemarypaw, he laughed to see Maverickkit complain about going back into the nursery. He couldn't help but to let out a small laugh as he pouted. Then the sight of his mother babying her daughters made his face drop a little but he shrugged it off. He was going to see the apprentice's den which was way better then getting loved by his mother. Right? The snow was falling faster now, leaving a fresh white coat on the ground. He shook his pelt and shivered a bit but tried to look warm and toasty for Rosemarypaw. He looked up at he and nodded when she said to come in a quiet tone. He smiled when he knew that she was trying to do something just for him. She was really nice. He stood still, waiting for her to leave, since he had no idea where he was going.

Rosemarypaw watched Toweringkit hurrying to her side. The long limbed kitten looked cold, but his eyes were warm. The she-cat noticed his body twitch as he surpressed a shiver. The dark brown tabby apprentice got to her paws, shaking snowflakes from her long fur. She hoped Toweringkit would be alright in this cold; he seemed strong enough to withstand it, at least for a while. Rosemarypaw eyes followed the kit's as he glanced away, and she too smiled at Maverickkit. Looking back towards her charge, Rosemarypaw noticed his face drop as he spotted Sunheart babying her daughter, Mahoganykit and Sphinxkit. Sighing, Rosemarypaw began to pad towards the apprentices' den after making sure Toweringkit was following. The apprentice wondered what it would have been like, had her own mother survived. She had never known Lonelyheart, the snowy white queen that had given birth to her. All she remembered was the softness of her fur, as she had nursed her litter moments before StarClan claimed her. Rosemarypaw brushed past the tall ferns bordering the den, shouldering her way inside. She then twisted around, holding back the thick plants with one paw. "Come on in," she mewed warmly to Toweringkit, her tail tip twitching slowly back and forth on the frosty earth.

Sphinxkit smiled at her mother. Mommy! What's it like being a warrior exactly? She asked, her eyes glittering with curiosity. as she asked, a cool wind blew across them, and she raced towards her mother, sitting on her paws, waiting for an answer.

Toweringkit kept up easily with her and she wished she could have traveled faster since the snow was falling and the wind was picking up. Oh well. He hoped it would be toasty in the den like it was in the nursery. He wondered deeply if his brother and sisters were watching where he was going, or if they even knew what was in front of him. He wondered if they would be jealous. If they weren't or they were, he wouldn't brag. He wasn't a bragger and would rather play with snowflakes then crawl around other warriors. When they arrived at the den, Rosemarypaw went in first and he followed. It was smaller than the nursery and it was lighter and much cozier. Really all that it was was a fern bush with moss nests but it was warm and away from wind. He liked it. His bright hazel eyes scanned the den and he turned around in several circles until he faced Rosemarypaw. "It's really cozy in here. Where do you sleep?" he said, looking at each nest, trying to pick out which one could be hers.

The she-cat's leaf green eyes sparkled as the kitten spun around before her, taking in the sights. Rosemarypaw smiled, curling up her tail as she remembered her own kit days. She had always been a nosy little kit, curious about everything and always sticking her nose into things that did not concern. The dark brown tabby she-cat pricked up her ears as Toweringkit asked her a question. "Oh, it's over here," she replied, padding silently towards a nest of moss and leaves in one corner. She patted with her paw, her eyes bright. She prodded the nest next to her's with her snowy tail tip. "That's Cloudpaw's nest," she mewed, before gesturing to the next beside her brother's. "And that's Stonepaw's." With a little sigh, Rosemarypaw padded briskly to the opposite end of the apprentices' den towards an isolated little nest. It looked cold and lonely, away from the other nests. "This is Brokenpaw's," she mewed, voice tight with sadness. She stared at her paws, wondering whether her brother would ever change his attitude.

Post by kee :] on Dec 23, 2007 12:08:25 GMT -5
Toweringkit followed her briskly to where she said her nest was and he stared at it. The bed was of moss and leaves, sort of like his mothers, yet much smaller. He wondered if she could even fit on it. It even looked kind of small for him himself but it was cozy and looked warm. Smiling, he looked at Cloudpaw's. It was a bit bigger and messier and it looked like the kind of nest he would have while Rosemarypaw's looked like the kind his sisters would have. Stonepaw's was even messier and he knew immediately that this was how Maverickkit's nest would look like. When the fluffy she-cat pointed toward her brother's nest on the other side of the den, he frowned. It looked lonely and isolated from the rest of the apprentices. Toweringkit gazed at it sadly for a few more seconds before looking back at Rosemarypaw. "How long until you leave this den to sleep in the warrior's den?" Toweringkit asked, his ears pricked and his head tilted to one side, looking interested.

"A warrior? Well, you get a good feeling in your stomach when you finally receive your warrior name and it feels great to finally leave camp without your mentor or your mother," Sunheart said, smiling gently to Sphinxkit. She licked her daughter's ear dotingly. "You get to be strong and brave, just like how your father was."
"I'm going to be stronger than Sphinxkit," Maverickkit piped up, sticking out his impish head with an adorable pout at his sister. Sunheart's tail flopped to one side and she didn't even have to turn before Maverickkit ducked back into the nursery sheepishly.

Rosemarypaw noticed the look in Toweringkit's eyes as he looked at Brokenpaw's nest. There was sadness there. The tabby sighed. If only her brother could get over himself. She had tried, countless times, to befriend him. She, and Stonepaw and Cloudpaw, had all managed to come to terms with the fact that they were orphans. Besides, they had eachother. Rosemarypaw turned her green eyes back onto the kitten as he spoke again. She forced herself to cover up the sadness in her eyes, but at Toweringkit's words, they cleared without any effort. The she-cat took a shaky breath of excitement. "Soon, now," she mewed, her tail quivering. "Soon I'll be a warrior. And Cloudpaw, and Stonepaw. And... And Brokenpaw." Rosemarypaw swallowed, then smiled kindly at the kit. "I'll still come and visit you," she mewed. "That is, if you'd like me to." Rosemarypaw rolled her eyes. "You'll need someone to protect you from the wrath of the great Maverickkit." The apprentice smiled, her eyes glittering with good homour.
The ferns waved wildly, and Pantherstealth re-entered the camp. This time a rabbit hung from his mouth, and there was a look in his amber eyes that had not been there before he left. A depth of new happiness. Though the dappled tom always seemed to happy, in a hyper kind of way, this was a different kind of joy. The warrior tossed the rabbit onto the fresh kill pile with the usual flick of his head, before sitting down and giving himself a breif wash. He turned his head, waiting for Petaldance to catch up. He wouldn't tell anyone until she arrived. He wasn't sure who she wanted to know, abd who she didn't, and who she wanted to tell herself. The lithe tom looked up, impatience burning in his eyes, as he drew his pink tongue over a sooty forepaw and began to hastily wash his ears.

Toweringkit began to look at the whole den again instead of the gloomy nests. He listened to Rosemarypaw's answer and stopped spinning to look straight at her as she finished her comment about Maverickkit. He smiled and let out a crackly purr. "I wouldn't mind if you did come a visit me. It would get me out of the middle of my siblings. And Maverickkit, " he meowed, looking at the fuzzy she-cat with a bright grin on his face. And once again, he circled the den. More than anything, he wanted to sleep here and train with the other apprentices. And a mentor? He wanted someone who was strict. He didn't need patience. "Rosemarypaw?" Toweringkit said as he circled, "Who do you think will mentor me?"

The white and liac-brown she-cat padded swiftly into camp after her mate. She deposited her prey on the fresh-kill pile and turned to pace over to her mate. Petaldance sat down next to Pantherstealth and snuggled up close to him with a loud purr. She looked at him and saw the impatience in his dark amber eyes. "Oh, and why are you so antsy?" she said with a laugh. As if she didnt already know. She leaned in close to him, her mouth next to his ears. "Go on then. Tell someone. Anyone. I don't care who knows, the whole Clan can know. Juts leave Sunheart to me" she whidpered in his ear, licking it softly when she had finished speaking.

Rosemarypaw sat, licking her chest. She concentrated on the snowy fur, not on her sullen brother. The dark tabby noticed that Toweringkit seemed to have forgotten about him, too. Good, Rosemarypaw thought to herself. If he doesn't want to make friends, then why should I keep worrying about him? The apprentice looked up as Toweringkit spoke. She smiled, her soft features lighting up. "Then of course I'll come and see you," she mewed, leaning forward to pull a scrap of moss from his pelt. Rosemarypaw gave her chest a last lick, before straightening up. The she-cat was a bit surprised at the kit's next question. "Well," she mewed. "It's a bit early to be thinking about all that." The apprentice thought to herself. "But your bound to get a good mentor. Someone who'll show you how to be a great warrior, like your father. Your certainly capable." Rosemarypaw gave a tiny sigh. She knew by the time Toweringkit was apprenticed she would be a warrior, but there was no way Amethyststar would let such an inexperienced warrior mentor an apprentice.
Pantherstealth turned as Petaldance appeared. He ceased licking his ears, and gave a mew. "Yay!" The tom smirked at her words. Excitement bubbled inside of him, and he felt like the tiniest kit curled in the nursery. Ready to bounce and play and speak to anybody who cared to listen. Trotting around the camp, he looked for somebody to tell. He couldn't tell Sphinxkit or Mahoganykit; both were snuggled beside Sunheart, who Petaldance insisted upon telling. The mottled tom kneaded the earth, looking for somebody else who he could tell.

A slight smile appeared on the large tabby kitten's face as Rosemarypaw said that she would come see him. He was quite happy that he had a friend that wasn't his siblings. Those kits were his friends, true, but they were only his siblings and nothing more than that. To have a friend that was an apprentice would surely make Maverickkit jealous, for a moment, but then he would end up making friends with a warrior and rubbing it in Toweringkit's face. Some days, Toweringkit wanted to be better than his brother since he always got what he wanted but today was one of those days where he felt as though he was better than he brother. And that made him feel so proud. When Rosemarypaw started to speak again, he stopped circling and stood still. As he listened, his slight frown slowly turned into a frown and he nodded, understanding what she meant about not being old enough. But Toweringkit wanted to have a mentor that he knew and trusted. He didn't want a strict mean one but Amethyststar would hopefully give him the perfect mentor, like she did with the other apprentices. Sighing softly he nodded and smiled again. "Well even you don't get to mentor me, we can still be friends. Right?" he mewed softly, looking Rosemarypaw with a hopeful gaze.

Petaldance laughed as she saw Pantherstealth go trotting around camp, looking desperately for someone to tell. She purred at the antsy tom and then padded over to Sunheart, who was with Sphinxkit and Mahoganykit, her two beautiful daughters. She sat down next to the ginger Rex and smiled at the three she-cats. "Hey" she said simply and began to hurridly groom herself. She paused, a paw poised in mid-air as she thought of what she could say. Petaldance jerked as she realised how silly she must of looked with her paw in the air and set it down. She took a deep breath and turned to her best friend. "Sunheart. I....I have something to tell you" she said, looking into her friends green eyes with her own lilac-blue ones.
