Her eyes scanned the camp warily, as though her deadliest enemy crouched their, hissing a challenge. Her sturdy body was tense, as though preparing for a fight. Even her hooked silver claws were unsheathed threateningly. But she did not seem to be angry; she was quivering and her dark amber eyes were nervous and tentative. But there was no stopping this. She had to make her son an apprentice, otherwise there would be awkward questions.
Amethyststar padded from her cave-den, arranging her unhappy features into a normal, calm, commanding expression. The black she-cat's tail was held erect and her ears perked upright. She bunched her muscles before launching herself onto the Shade Rock. She gently stroked the smooth, black surface of the stone with a forepaw, remembering for whom it was named. Amethyststar cleared her throat softly, before yowling for her clan.
EclipseClan came, like shadows, slipping from their dens. There was Beacansong, his large ears straining towards Amethyststar; Spectrumflash, limping from the medicine den. He looked a lot better now, his grey and white coat soft and fully grown again. He still bore scars on his body that would never quite vanish, but for now he seemed healthy enough. Pantherstealth and Scrawltale came together, conversing in low voices. Rosemarypaw scampered from the apprentices' den, her long, dark brown fur slightly ruffled. Finally Corbynkit poked his head from the gloom of the nursery, eyes casually curious.
"Today Corbynkit will be made an apprentice," Amethyststar mewed, attempting to sound convincingly normal. "Corbynkit, from this moment onwards you shall be known as Corbynpaw." The black she-cat turned. "Fernpelt, now that Beacansong has been made a warrior, you are free to take on another apprentice. You shall mentor Corbynpaw."
Amethyststar halted only for a moment. She listened to the chanting. "Corbynpaw, Corbynpaw!" But she could feel her son's eyes on her, filled with hatred. She leapt down from the Shaderock and ran to her den. Corbynpaw sauntered over to Fernpelt and touched noses with the tortoseshell, pale eyes slightly smug.

The sun doesn't shine today because the dove flew away--Sunheart
Sunheart sat in a lonely corner of the EclipseClan camp, not meeting her grandmother's eyes as she announced that Corbynpaw was Fernpelt's mentor.
"Today was going to be Dovekit's apprenticeship, but he got taken away," she mumbled to herself, pawing the ground. The ginger she-cat stared into nothingness, her pug nose wet with tears.
A cloud covered the light, halting the sun that beamed down on her bright ginger fur that gave her her name. The warrior swallowed and managed to squeak out the name Corbynpaw once or twice, very weakly.

Petaldance sat next to Sunheart. "We all miss him Sunheart. But you have to stay strong, thats what he would have wanted" she said quietly, blushing as she spoke. She never normally spoke unless needed or she was spoken to so this was a bit embaressing. She touched her nose gently to Sunhearts cheek, hoping that she was ok. Her lilac-blue eyes blinked sympathetically and then she turned her gaze to Corbnypaw. "Corbnypaw, Corbnypaw!" she called quietly, looking around for Fernpelt. The deputy was never usually late for meetings, she wondered where she was.

Fernpelt smiled up at her leader when she heard she would be Corbynpaw's mentor. She stepped forward and touched noses with the new apprentice. 'Corbynpaw, Corbynpaw!' she chanted along with the rest of the Clan.

// He was made an apprentice ages ago. oo;
Corbynpaw stared up at Fernpelt indifferently. He felt cold. His eyes were fixed on Fernpelt's a current of hot hatred burning through them. He wanted to let her know that whatever she did, he would never like her. He loathed his clan, his life, and anything to do with either. Corbynpaw turned away, feeling he had made his meaning clear enough. He contiued to glare around at his clanmates, loathing them. Selenekit would understand... But no, she wasn't here...

Fernpelt saw Corbynpaw's look of loathing, and stumbled backwards a step. She had never seen an apprentice look at her that way before! She tried to make a truce. 'When do you want to explore the boundaries?' she asked, sitting down beside him.

Corbynpaw's eyes turned back to Fernpelt. No, he would not bare his neck to her, he could not lower his head. So what, she was deputy, big deal, she was his mentor. Just another worthless soul to him. The anger and prickly hate filled his pale gaze again as he answered. "Whatever you say, mentor," he put liberal amounts of contempt in the last two syllables.

Fernpelt sighed. This wasn't going to be easy. 'Any other kit would be extatic on the day they became an apprentice. Is something bothering you?' she asked, looking and the new apprentice.

Corbynpaw fixed the tortoiseshell with a sneer. "Oh no, nothing's wrong, nothing at all," the smoky tom said, voice falsely innocent. "No, my mother just dumped me, my sister disappears. No, no, of course I'm fine." Corbynpaw gritted his teeth. "Never been bloody better." The apprentice looked up at Fernpelt again, eyes still devoid of warmth.

Sunheart smiled weakly at Petaldance and she dipped her head in gratitude. "Thanks...," she whispered, swallowing a lump in her throat. She groomed herself for the moment before glancing over to congratulate Fernpelt and Corbynpaw. Her jaw dropped at the venomous looks the young tom threw at the deputy. She frowned and walked past him to walk to Fernpelt.
"Show some respect for once, Corbynpaw...," she hissed as she trotted past. She never remembered being so angry, but she guessed that Dovekit's kidnapping had frayed her kind edges a bit. Her eyes turned up to Fernpelt. "Excellent work, Fernpelt," she said defiantly and loudly. A lopsided smile creased her face. "You'll do fine..."

Fernpelt silently cursed herself for being so insensitive. 'I'm sorry, I just thought you might want to talk. You're obviously not in the social mood though. Come and find me later on when you want to see the boundaries.' she said, in a civil manner. She then turned and padded to the fresh kill pile, taking a wood pigeon and going under the shade of the trees to eat it.

Corbynpaw let out a laugh at Sunheart's words, though it was warm or filled with amusement. It was as cold as ice, and full of cruel mirth. "Respect for what?" he asked, baring his teeth. The laugh dissolved as quickly as it had burst free. "Her?" The apprentice flicked his tail at Fernpelt. She looked as though she might've cracked a bit... "Of course, mentor," Corbynpaw called after her. Corbynpaw's eyes locked with Sunheart's. She was his blood, his kin... But his expression did not change; the burning hatred had not shifted.

Fernpelt smiled at Sunheart's efforts. 'Thanks, but I think he's gonna be hard to train. Who woulda thought it, a cat that didn't want to become a good warrior!' she said, sliding her gaze towards Corbynpaw, and flicking her tail once.

Spicetalon slunk out of the warrior's den and listened to the ceremony. He chanted the new apprentice's name and then slunk out of sight.
Razortomb sat beside his apprentice, Rosemarypaw and chanted the new apprentice name.
Gillwing chanted the new apprentice's name.
Greyfalcon loped over to Sunheart, briefly chanted the new name, and whispered in her ear. "Meet me outside the camp." Then, he disappeared.

// Look for the post 'Greenleaf Approaches'. I don't know where you were. oo;
Corbynpaw leered at Fernpelt. "Who cares about being a warrior?" he hissed, voice deadly serious. "It's not exactly special, getting your name changed. It's not like anything else changes." The black tom turned and glared at Greyfalcon, eyes narrow. He wanted to let everybody know just how much he despised them. The apprentice looked up at the sky. He had never believed in StarClan. "Just a bunch of old stories," he said, half to himself. He then began to stare hotly at Sunheart again, ears flat to his skull.
Rosemarypaw, who had been sitting beside her mentor, turned to him. Her dark brown tabby coat had grown and was long and silky. She looked older in the face too; her muzzle was longer and her dark green eyes held none of they're kit-like playfulness. "Razortomb," she mewed, head on one side. Her voice was different, too. No longer the youthful lisp, but a soft, gentle tone. "Can we train? I havn't got much else to do." The she-cat stretched her forelegs, her snowy paws scraping the earth.

Silentpaw trotted into the clearing, late for the meeting. Corbynkit an apprentice? Alright. He sighed. it didn't really involve him much, so he didn't think much about it. Gillwing hadn't taken him out much lately, and the last trip had been distracted by Glacierstripe, who eventually fell into a mud pit.
He flicked his tail in congrats to Corbynpaw, but it didn't seem to matter. He overheard his words, "Who cares about being a warrior?" He narrowed his eyes, but not in suspicion. He nearly felt the same way.

Fernpelt rolled her eyes and flicked her tail at her new apprentice. 'That attitude won't get you anywhere in life.' she said.

Sunheart did the same motion as Fernpelt before noticing Greyfalcon. "Sure!" she replied cheerily, hopping away from the ceremony after her friend.

Gillwing padded over to Silentpaw. "Come on, we're going to train." He grinned at his apprentice, before bounding away.
Razortomb nodded, a smile forming onto his face. "Of course we can train! Come on, I'll show you the best fighting skills." He meowed, standing up and stretching.
Greyfalcon saw Sunheart appear out of the camp walls and paded towards her. "There's been something bothering me since we were kits..." He trailed off. He didn't know how to word it, but he knew he had to tell her.
The tom named Spicetalon heard the remark from his nephew and came back to them. "What did I just hear from you?" He snarled at the apprentice. He hoped to scare him, so he would be better. He turned his head briefly at Fernpelt, hiding his face from the apprentice, so he couldn't see his expression. He grinned at Fernpelt and winked, before changing it to the nasty face. He stuck his muzzle right into the apprentice's face. "You will be good and obedient and train with Fernpelt. You will do what she says, no matter what the task. You hear me?" He demanded, his face still stuck into the apprentice's.
