garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx It was a typical autumn day. The leaves were falling in great loads since the wind had picked up speed and there were several piles and then wide spreads of leaves just lying all over the place. He remembered playing in piles of leaves when he was a kit... Being a kit was so easy. Garnetcloak did miss it but he liked what he was doing even more. Serving his Clan, and now as Deputy? It was pretty awesome. Smiling slightly to himself, he realized he would be returning to a Clan that he was watching over until Fernpelt, soon to be Fernstar, returned from getting her name and nine lives. In his maw were two freshly caught fish that he had gotten out of the lake. It was the last bunch probably until spring since the fish would go deep under for warmth. He padded into the brightly lit camp. The sun easily filtered through the almost leafless trees now and for an autumn day and if there was no wind, it was pretty warm. He set one of his fish, the bigger one, on the fresh-kill pile and then took the smaller one over near the warriors den. Some of the cats were out hunting and training their apprentices. He smiled slightly and began to eat his fish in peace.

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx He was almost done picking the fish off the bones, which was pretty dirty work. That was a downside to eating fish. You had to pick the bones out of the fish or they would get stuck in your teeth and that would be no fun. With mice and squirrels, it was easy to just pick the meat of the bone. Sighing, he devoured the small meat of the fish before burying the bones and relaxing in the warmth of the sun. That was when a petite tabby she-cat that he recognized as Wintersand came through the camp entrance. Oh good, she had prey. Even though it wasn't much, anything was good this time of the season. He could see that she was almost in a rush, almost like she was hoping that he wouldn't notice her. He did... And when he saw her quickly lay down and begin tending to one particular spot of her pelt, he worried. He wasn't one to dwell on things, but he couldn't stand if something was wrong and then no one did anything about it. Garnetcloak stood and padded over to her before sitting down a few fox-lengths away. "Hello, Wintersand. Is everything alright?" he asked in a curious polite voice, though he hated to intrude. He just knew something was up.

wintersand Her silver head shot up as she heard the voice, ears angling back as she looked up at the deputy. She shook her head, sitting up and dipping her head to the tom. Always the polite one, even if it wasn't in the first spot. Wintersand, angled her body so that the the deep scratches wouldn't be close to where Garnetcloak could see. "Everything is fine, Garnetcloak" Wintersand meowed quickly, turning to lick her chest fur down, then going to her leg, inching towards the wound on her side. Hopefully Prophecyteller or Littlefox were in so she could get someone on there. "Nothing to worry about" She muttered, her voice still like wind chimes as she curled her tail around her paws.

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx Yes, he could tell something was wrong just in her voice. Her syllables were rushed and connected, and the way she rapidly made sure her chest fur was in place, which was even a habit of Garnetcloak when he was nervous, gave him all the signs that there was something wrong. Garnetcloak, unlike those nosy younglings, did not want to intrude in anyone's business so he just nodded his head curtly. As he was about to walk away, he noticed that she was licking a spot on her side that looked like it had already been groomed several times and then he saw the faintest bit of blood. But it wasn't just the sight of that blood that made him realize what was happening, but also that smell. It was a fowl smell, Garnetcloak could hardly stand it. Wintersand was injured and she was sitting here doing nothing about it? "Wintersand... I think you're bleeding," he meowed, peering over her head, trying to see the wound and to see if it was bad.

wintersand Her tail flicked back and forth, twitching really, as she lowered her head down, refusing to look up at the tom, her slim, silver tail curling around her small body. Her ears flicked up as he mentioned the blood. Damn. She thought it had stopped. She couldn't help it. Her eyes moved up to Garnetcloak, wincing slightly as her eyes met his. "Well...yes....it's just a bit" Wintersand murmured, tail tip thumping the ground as she turned her head. Of course, the red stood out against her silver pelt. She shivered involuntary. "It's nothing bad. Just a few small scratches."

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx So she was hiding something from him, from the rest of the Clan. Garnetcloak was thankful that her emotions were easy enough to read but weren't so visible that anyone would notice it. In this case, anyone would, because of the blood. But just the way she acted... She could've fooled him if there wasn't any blood. Even if it was just a few scratches, which Garnetcloak really doubted that Wintersand would just want to hide a few scratches, the wound should really be checked out by Littlefox or Prophecyteller. It could easily get infected. "Few scratches or not, up we go," he meowed, grunting quietly as he stood on all fours. He looked back at Wintersand, smiling slightly. "We're going to the Medicine Cat den. I'm not taking any chances, neither should you." His smile grew a little as he swished his thick furry ginger tail for her to follow him.

winterdance Her eyes flashed up, looking into the tom's eyes for a brief moment before she looked away, hissing to herself quietly. Why couldn't she just stay on her feet and not fall down. She shook her head, raising to her dainty paws and quickly licking down the ruffled spots on her pelt, tail flickered back and forth. "It's nothing, Garentcloak." Winterdance muttered, turning her head as pain swept through her. She whimpered, sitting back on her haunches. The pain swept through her again, her eyes watering. "Damnit. Crack rib" She muttered, concentrating and locating where the pain was coming from. Either cracked or broken, and the small silver tabby was pretty sure that it wasn't a broken rib. Her yellow-green eyes flashed towards the deputy. "I just need some cobwebs. I can get them myself" Winterdance mewed, pushing herself to her paws, masking the pain, and starting towards the camp entrance.

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx Gosh, Winterdance was one stubborn she-cat. What ever this was, scratches, external or internal, or whatever, it seemed that it was causing her a lot of pain. She said it was nothing, but Garnetcloak wasn't deaf. He had turned around from walking toward the Medicine Cat den, in case she needed help getting up. He should've helped her since he could hear her whimper and see the pain clouding her eyes. And he ran back over to her. Cracked rib? That couldn't be good. He knew she was in a lot of pain but if she was going to be this stubborn about it, then how was he going to help her? "It is something, Winterdance," he murmured quietly, standing beside her, staring at her watering eyes. But then she was up, padding toward the camp entrance. Garnetcloak groaned inwardly, as he trotted after her. He rushed in front of her and blocked the way. Military-instructor life was kicking in. "No, Winterdance. You will not be leaving this camp. You hear me?" he paused like he was waiting for a 'sir yes sir'. "You must get to the Medicine Cat den. You aren't very good at hiding your pain. I can see it in your eyes right now, Winterdance. Please come with me right now to the Medicine Cat den. Alright?" This was another pause for 'sir yes sir' but he was done with that. Motioning with his fluffy ginger tail, he told her to go first.

winterdance Winterdance's eyes narrowed as she watched the deputy, ears flat against her small head as she sighed, sitting down. The pain was overwhelming, even with her not moving. She glanced towards the medicine cat's den, cringing slightly. Sha hated that den. Always had, always would. She always tried her hardest to not sustain injuries, but of course, she never had luck. The silver tabby stood to her paws again, wincing visibly this time before trotted after the tom. She shook her head as the overpowering scent of herbs reached her sensitive nose.
"What's wrong, Garentcloak? Is everything alright?" Prophecyteller's rough voice came from inside the den as Winterdance padded in, a light brush-stroke of red crossed her pretty face as the three-legged medicine cat padded towards her, lowering his head to look at the wound. "What were you doing, Winterdance?" He asked quietly, blie-silver eyes watching the warrior as she shrugged, then winced. The medicine cat apprentice lead the she-cat towards a nest, instructing for her to lay down on her side. He turned away from the she-cat, hobbling towards the herb store. prophecyteller

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx Finally. Finally, finally, finally! That's all Garnetcloak could think of. Finally, she was going to the Medicine Cat den. Finally, he'd gotten through her. Finally, she was listening. He always was so shocked of how well the military-instructor attitude worked but then as he looked beyond his vision at his son, he knew that it just took time. He did not lead Winterdance, nor did he follow her. He kept right at her side, almost offering a post to lean of if needed. But as he guessed, she did not need his help, or want it. As they padded into the den, the overwhelming scent of herbs filled Garnetcloak. He didn't mind it, spending many moons in this den after battles. He could barely see the scares now, or remember how he got them. Littlefox was no where in sight but Prophecyteller was a very good medicine cat for his age, so he left Winterdance's side to sit in a corner of the dark den. "She's injured and its bad since she did a bad job of hiding it," he meowed, smiling slightly at Winterdance.

winterdance The medicine cat apprentice sighed quietly, turning to the deputy and dipping his head, ignoring the glare from Winterdance as she accused him with her eyes. Prophecyteller slipped back over to the silver tabby's side, sitting down and gently prodding her side with his tail. She winced at every touch, closing her eyes and resting her head down. "Thank you for convincing her, Garnetcloak." Prophecyteller murmured, glancing back at the deputy with his white pupils narrowing in. "She has a few crack ribs, one broken" He plastered a few cobwebs on before trotting towards the tom. "Would you mind staying here for a few moments? I know Winterdance is very uncomfortable in this den, and it seems that she wants you to stay" He murmured, then without an anwser, slipped through the den entrance.
"Ugh. Cobwebs" Winterdance muttered, cringing, then letting out a whimper before trying to curl into a ball. prophecyteller

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx Garnetcloak always thought that the Medicine Cat den was a very soothing place. He actually liked the overpowering scent of herbs, and lived a good amount of moons in here to get used to it. Though he hated sick cats in when he was... They were all sniffly and coughing every ten seconds. It was impossible to get a wink of sleep. As Winterdance glared at him, he just looked around the den, not trying to hide the smug smile on his face, but it was gone when Prophecyteller explained the extent of the damage. It figures. Winterdance was trying to walk around camp with broken and cracked ribs. No one would notice... Sighing softly, he watched as the three-legged medicine cat did his work and nodded when he told Garnetcloak to stay here. "Oh no. I don't mind staying," he murmured quietly, rising from his place off to the side. He watched the young tom leave before padding over to sit in front of the curled up tabby before him. He felt a bit bad, but this would be the best. It was a serious wound and needed to be treated. "I'm sorry, in a way... But this is what's is best for you. Sounds serious, no?" he smiled a crooked smile, hoping to cheer her up, though he had no clue what to say.

winterdance She rolled her eyes as he came to sit before her. Finally, she became comfortable, letting out a painful sigh and resting her head down on her front paws, tail curled over her cold nose. "Do you always get what you want?" Winterdance asked, perking her ears up and opening her stunning yellow-green eyes. "Or was I just a lucky win?" She questioned before raising her head, letting out a groan. Maybe she was alittle relived that someone had cared about her. Or atleast, cared about her injuries. Her tail tip twitched as her eyes flicked towards the herb store, searching for the poppyhead she knew that the medicine cats kept.
"Can you get me some poppy seeds? The plant is over there" Winterdance asked quietly, her tail flicking towards the poppy head, wincing as the movement made her side move. She let out another small whine before closing her eyes and resting her head down.

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx Her question, even though it was more of a joke, made Garnetcloak think for a long second. Did he always get what he wanted? Of course not, right? Honestly, he was very good at getting what he wanted, usually by going into military mode, like he had done today. He had a demanding voice, and that usually got him what he wanted. But no, he really didn't always get what he wanted personally but he got what the Clan needed and then what he absolutely needed. Well, he had absolutely needed Winterdance to go to the Medicine Cat den, so there you have it! He contemplated this for several seconds, his face twisted up to look like he was deep in thought before he looked up at Winterdance and smiled. "Lets just say you were a lucky win," he mewed and winked one of his glowing amber eyes. It wasn't often that Garnetcloak felt so live and free to express but right now, he was just happy that he still had that force in him. It was probably kicking in even more, now that he was a rank higher then everyone else. Not that he was going to let that get to his head.
Poppy seeds. They were for pain, right? Well, Winterdance must be in a lot of pain. He could see clearly that it was hard for her to get comfortable and she was groaning and whining every few moments. He followed her gaze to the plant near the wall and he padded over there. Carefully, he took some seeds away from the plant and held them gently between his teeth, before padding back over to Winterdance. He set the few small black seeds in front of her and sat back on his haunches. "Poppy seeds. There you go."

winterdance Winterdance's tail curled over her side, letting out a rough sigh before pulling her legs towards her body. Would it really make any sense for him to always get her way. She gave herself a mental shake, but winced at the thought. Why were ribs so painful against anything else? It didn't make sense. Broken legs didn't hurts as bad. Tail, either. But ribs, of course, had to kill like Hell was coming to earth. She growled under her breath, letting out a slow breath. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as bad. Her stunning yellow-green eyes looked uo at the tom, raising an eyebrow at the deputy slightly. "Arn't you lucky, then. I'm so easy to presuade" Winterdance meowed, rolling her eyes. Perhaps she should be nicer? Maybe be able to have a friend. But her first friend as the deputy? No. Not possible. Her tail tip twitched once before she settled her head down, raising it again as the poppy seeds were placed before her.
Licking them up quickly, she relaxed, letting her body slide into a long line, closing her eyes for a moment, the seeds taking affect quickly. "Mmmm. Thank you Garnetcloak. For persuading me to come here" She murmured, opening her eyes slowly to look at the tom.

garnetcloak xxxxxxxxxx Garnetcloak didn't really mind how rude or mean Winterdance was being. He had experienced worse. To him, her words and expressions were more like playful jokes to him, while to a sensitive one, they could be hurtful. It was strange that even though poor Winterdance had broken and cracked ribs, and she was being completely rude to the Deputy, that Garnetcloak couldn't wipe that goofy crooked smile off his face. "Actually, I had to pull my last resort out to make you come," he chuckled softly, watching her begin to drift off as the poppy seeds began to kick in. It was amazing how a few tiny seeds could just take away your pain and put you right to sleep. Just to think, only a few moments ago he was still persuading her to come in. But now he had caught her after a struggle. Chuckling quietly to himself, he murmured ever so softly, "And what a catch it was." An amber and a hazel eye watched the tabby, catching a tired glimpse in her eyes. He smiled again, willing her to fall asleep so that the pain would go by quicker. Made it all the more easier. "You're welcome, Winterdance."
