Silver [/right] The dappled she-cat entered into the Medicine cat's den, her noes was runny, her pelt was dull, and she started coughing, trying to bring up what was caught in her throat. Silverleaf seemed to be staggering on her paws and you could tell just by looking at her that she was dizzy. You could see every one of her ribs, she was growing extremely thin. With food being hard to come by, she refused to eat, and only at what her kits left over. She knew they were to become apprentices soon and she wanted them to be strong enough to see that day and to live past this winter. Like any mother she cared little of what was to happen to her as long as her kits survived.
Finally the she-cat coughed up some part of what was in her throat and weakly spat it out on the ground. With a swipe of her paw she covered it up with some dirt before finally raising up her head. "Littlefox?" she weakly called, the cold wind chilling her to her visible bones. "I don't feel so well..." She came off into another coughing fit before collapsing on the floor. She knew that she didn't need to go back to the nursery, her kits would be fine with the other queens since they were now eating fresh-kill.

rainkit Small paws pattered anxiously after Silverleaf as the pretty queen padded out of the nursery. Rainkit hesitated just outside the bramble thicket, her frame trembling with indecision. She was deeply worried about her mother, but had been ordered to stay put. She didn't like breaking rules, but knew sometimes it had to be done. Was this one of those times? The small charcoal tabby shuffled her paws anxiously, her dark sapphire eyes wide and worried. Frostkit and Whitekit hadn't even noticed the change in Silverleaf. Rainkit had, though. Her sweet smell had turned sour. She was coughing more. And she slept more. Rainkit trembled in real fear this time. What was going to happen to her mother? Her father did care but he rarely came to see them. So what would happen? Rainkit scampered after her mother with a whimper. "Mumma, where are you going?" she mewed, her oddly mature voice heavy with worry.
