secretcalling His paws made barely a sound on the blanket of snow that carpeted the grass. They left behind clear prints in a twisted trail that could be easily followed. Secretcalling had abandoned the snowbound camp to train his apprentice, Viridianpaw. He knew a lot of mentors thought it was too dangerous to train after the blizzard. But not Secretcalling. The lean silver tabby thought that the conditions would only strengthen the young cat. Besides, with a father like Saintcalling, he should be able to cope with anything. Secretcalling sped through the trees as they began to thin, until he emerged upon the expanse that was the Moonlit Hills. He peered at the miniature snowy mountains, then ran up one of the slopes. It took all the strength in his powerful, wiry body to get up to the top. He sat there, tail wrapped around his chilled silver paws. He wondered if Viridianpaw would be able to cope with the steepness.

Viridianpaw Never shall innocent blood be shed, yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of God.
He struggled up the sides of the hills, his paws fumbling numbly under him. The green-eyed one silently threw curses at his mentor for bringing him out in this blasted remnant of blizzard season. He looked up at the much-older, much-larger tom and glared a glare that seemed to have more fury than the snow around them.
"What are we learning first?" Viridianpaw growled disparagingly as the black and white tom finally made his way to his mentor's side. However, now that he had done this, he wanted nothing better than to go back down and sleep in his bed at the apprentice's den.
He looked up, grumbled slightly, and then stared down at his paws. He kept his complaints to himself.

secretcalling The lithe silver tabby could taste the annoyance eminating from his apprentice's compact black and white body as he struggled up the hill. Good. It will make him stronger. The warrior blinked as Viridianpaw finally surfaced. He noticed the look in the younger tom's eyes, and the mumbled complaints, but chose to ignore them tactfully. Secretcalling got to his paws, shaking the snow out of silver and black striped fur. "We are going to learn how to use the snow to our advantage," he told Viridianpaw. "Seeing as we don't know how long it will be here." The lean tom blinked sternly down at Viridianpaw, as though challenging the apprentice to argue with him. He was well-known for his brisk treatment of apprentices. Not many knew the extent his temper could take, though. He swallowed a guilty lump in his throat as he thought of Wovenknot.

His frown deepened once he was equal with the silver tabby tom, refusing to look up at him like an apprentice should do to their mentor. Snow tactics? Good grief. Viridianpaw rolled his eyes.
"Whatever." He shook himself, trying to rid the fleck of snow caught in his nose, ears, and between his toes. The black and white tom wasn't full grown yet but he was about the size of his father, who he did not miss. It annoyed him to think that he'd ever be like his mother, a crying mess whenever her mate popped into her head.
Viridianpaw looked up finally, affixing Secretcalling with an emerald eye. "Well...let's go then." He tried not to snap out his words.

secretcalling The silver tabby tom almost smirked when he spotted the trace of exasperation in Viridianpaw's eyes. The younger tom was obviously an all-action, no tactics kind of guy. The silver tabby tom nodded at Viridianpaw's words, though he was faintly narked that the black and white apprentice seemed to be ordering him around. Now he remembered why he didn't like apprentices. Secretcalling slunk backwards, disappearing into the slowly drifting snowflakes. He dodged around the back of Viridianpaw, then round the ground, then remained to his left for a moment or two. The snow dulled his scent and made it harder to see where he was. Secretcalling made as if to travel around the front of the tom, but instead launched himself at Viridianpaw from the side. If he could floor the tom, perhaps it would teach him a few lessons.

Eponymous mirrors flickered back cautiously when Secretcalling walked backwards. Viridianpaw didn't trust him (but since when did he trust anyone). He unsheathed his claws, tapping them on the ground. He frowned and turned around, about to demand what the hell did the old tom think he was doing.
Abruptly, Viridianpaw found himself tossed into the snow like a discarded bone. "The hell?" He spat out snow and ice, shaking himself furiously once he got himself to his paws. His glare turned vicious once he recovered his bearing. He'd make Secretcalling regret that. The black and white tom narrowed his eyes and lunged back at his mentor, not unsheathing his claws. If the old man wanted to piss him off, he accomplished his goal.

secretcalling Secretcalling stepped away from where he had briefly pinned his apprentice. He noticed the glint of fury in Viridianpaw's eyes. He had known the apprentice was a fiery one - and so had chosen his method of training very well. Secretcalling blinked at the black and white tom. "Snow tactics, like I said," he told Viridianpaw. As the big, sturdy apprentice launched himself at Secretcalling, the lean warrior dodged skillfully. He feinted to the side than swiped at Viridianpaw's ear, keeping his claws carefully sheathed. It seemed angering the tom had been the perfect answer to training him. "Stay on your toes - I'm faster than you, but you're stronger! Use it your advantage!" He swiped at Viridianpaw's eyes, and then, just in case the mentoring had put him off, added; "Unless your frightened of me?"

He seethed visibly, his eyes colored acid-green. He ducked when his stupid mentor swung at his ear, then his eyes. Viridianpaw backed up, letting out a furious growl. "If you think I'm afraid of some deadbeat dad like you, you're more daft than a frostbitten elder!" the black and white tom barked. "This is stupid. I don't want to train with you." He spat at Secretcalling and turned around, storming off. He was going to tell Firestar and Wovenknot that he didn't want this mousebrain to be his mentor. Matter of fact, he didn't want to be an apprentice at all.

secretcalling The lithe silver tabby's vision flashed red at Viridianpaw's words. He felt the mad urge to tear the tom to pieces - the same feeling that had overtaken him the night he had attacked Wovenknot when she was an apprentice. He spasmed in Viridianpaw's direction, before managing to control his temper. He forced himself to think what would happen if he hurt Viridianpaw. Secretcalling watched the stroppy cat walk away. Gritting his teeth, Secretcalling followed. He overtook the younger tom fairly quickly, though Viridianpaw was pretty fast. He stood in front of the black and white apprentice, his eyes slits and his sides heaving. "Right. Listen to me, you," he spat angrily. "You don't like me. I sure as hell don't like you. But I'm not being a kit about this." He stuck his face close to Viridianpaw's. "Don't you ever, ever insult me again, or you'll wish you'd never been born." Secretcalling glared at his apprentice for a long moment. "Now. Are we going to train, or are you going to run back to mummy and cry?"

When he noticed Secretcalling following him, the black and white tom simmered in anger, turning around and narrowing his eyes when his mentor got in his face. He snorted. "Two things, old man. One, I already wish I wasn't born so you'd be doing me a favor. Two, it ain't an insult if it's true," Viridianpaw said disparagingly. "Now get out of my face." He turned around and walked off.
"And she isn't my mother..." He'd lost all respect for Darkmagic when she started bawling about his father every time he got mentioned. He'd died for the Clan; why couldn't she get over that? Then this douchebag over here. Viridianpaw rolled his emerald hues when he thought of Secretcalling.
"Don't you have that old hag to be cuddling up to right now?" he muttered. "Go bother your own son instead of me. Oh, I forgot. He ran off to join EclipseClan." Viridianpaw snorted again. He stalked away.
