tansyfrost Though she was curled in her nest, Tansyfrost was not sleeping. Her green eyes were wide, though of course she could see nothing. The blind she-cat listened sullenly to the screeching of the wind outside the nursery. Snow thudded against the brambles, so violent that some of the white powder sprayed through the small gaps between the entwined twigs. Cold rushed around the nursery, chilling the skin of the small she-cat. Her young face was blank. Tansyfrost was barely fourteen moons old, and her stomach was huge with kits. Grasswhistle's kits. How was she supposed to cope? Every moment, her head was filled with images of the tom she had loved. How was she supposed to care for kits when she still hadn't got over the death of her mate? Tansyfrost's eyes narrowed as pain short through her. What was happening? Panic swept through her as the pain came again, and it dawned on her. Her kits were coming. Now.
Tansyfrost shut her mouth tight, her sharp teeth piercing her gums. She tasted blood, before the pain heightened. She flattened her ears in agony, her tail thrashing. She couldn't scream. Even if she did, who would come? The snowstorm would drown out any cries she uttered, and besides, who could come to her through the din outside? Tansyfrost felt tears slide down her cheeks. She wished it was over. She wished that everything would just end. At least she'd be with Grasswhistle.. And as she thought this, the pain flared like fire, and she hissed as the first kit was born. She had barely a moment to take this in before she gritted her teeth, her eyes flying shut, and the second came. Two more kits followed in a similar manner. The ginger and white queen's head flopped onto her paws, her body shaking violently. She gasped for breath, her head swimming. The stench of blood filled her nostrils. She could hear the kits squirming and mewling around her, but she did not move.

fadedmemory The tired she-cat let out a sigh as she stood up from where she sat upon the high rock, looking around camp and watching for any dangers. The deputy let out a large yawn, streaching her tired muscles before she lept off the rock, landing on all fours as she started towards the fresh kill pile. Her fluffy tail flicked back and forth as she glanced around. As she reached the pile of fresh kill, the scent hit her. And scent her straight for the nursery. Fadedmemory stuck her head into the queen's den before she pulled herself in, glancing around until she caught the scent. Tansyfrost with her kits. "Oh, Tansyfrost" The deputy meowed softly as she started towards the she-cat, starting to lick down the small bundles of life. "Their beautiful, love." Of all the queens, and all the secerts that she had held for some of them, this young one had to be a favorite. The deputy turned her head around, looking for another she-cat till she found it. "Tawnysky, dear, would you gather Emerladpaw for me?" Fadedmemory asked before returning to lick the kits clean and push them towards their mother.

tansyfrost The young queen blinked open her blind eyes as she heard a voice. She forced herself not to sink back into the black water that was beckoning her. The ginger and white she-cat recognized Fadedmemory's voice. She was relieved. The deputy was one of the cats who did not frown upon her pregnancy. She breathed a thankyou to the other she-cat, her head still swimming. Tansyfrost forced herself to think straight, her sensibility rising to the surface. She took a few deep breaths, trying to slow her madly jumping heart. She heard the rasp of a tongue on fur - she reasoned that Fadedmemory was cleaning her kits' fur and checking their breathing for her. She sifted through the scents, though it was difficult, considering the reek of blood. She could seperate four new scents - two male, two female. Her chest felt tight, but she couldn't imagine what emotion it was that was doing this. "What... What do they look like?" She asked. She knew Fadedmemory would be able to describe her kits to her in such a way that she would be able to name them. She had no idea of colours, so she hoped the deputy would remember this.

fadedmemory The deputy smiled softly at the blind queen, giving her a lick over the ear as she pushed the last tome towards his mother's stomach. Her smile turned grim as she noticed that that kit looked like his father. She wiped a tear away from her eye as she turned her attention to Tansyfrost now. "They're beautiful, love. One of the little toms looks like your Grasswhistle" Fadedmemory reached her tail over to rub her shoulder soothingly. "Your two little she-kits are as soft as heather and jasmine, as beautiful as those flowers also. And your last little boy...." She trailed off, trying to think of something that Tansyfrost might be able to picture. "Think of a forest that you've dreamed about, the brown of thier trunks. Just a shade darker." the deputy finished, biting her lip. She had never been good at describing....anything really. Hopefully the younger she-cat understood that can could picture it.

tansyfrost The ginger and white she-cat carefully ran her paw over all four kits, guiding them to her stomach. The young queen felt a slight smile curl her lips as she gently stroked the little noses and stubby tails. She pricked up her ears as Fadedmemory described each kit in detail. Her green eyes grew wide, and glistened despite her blindness. A tear slid down her cheek as Fadedmemory described the first kit. She drew in his scent - yes, he smelt like Grasswhistle. Trying to swallow the choked feeling in her throat, Tansyfrost exhaled at length. "He... He will be... G-Grasskit." The young queen felt several more crystalline tears slide down her cheeks, and she fought to control her sobbing. Eventually she won the battle, and moved on. She smelt the soft, warm scents of the two female kits. She nodded at the deputy's words. "Then they will be Heatherkit and Jasminekit." She frowned at the she-cat's last description. It made her think of the old legends, of LionClan and TigerClan... Tigerkit...? No... She inhaled deeply. The scent of snow filled her nostrils. Snow! Taiga! It was another word for snow she had heard the elders use before. "He can be Taigakit."
