lycorisbreeze.A lone figure weaved it's way through the forest, her dappled pelt blending in with the fallen leaves stewn across the ground. But Lycorisbreeze didn't want to look at leaves right now. They'd just make it worse. She kept walking, not really knowing where she was going but wanting to go far away from the weight that seemed to fall on her shoulders with every step. The tortoiseshell femme eventually recognized the Shaded Clearing. Good. A place without painful memories... for once. Lycorisbreeze drifted to the base of an oak tree and lay down, curling herself up in the tangle of roots, wanting to sleep and maybe never wake up.

vermillionpaw His skinny red frame, the colour of a new flame, hovered at the edge of the grassy clearing. The grass was bleached grey by the shade, and his thin fur made chills run down his spine. Vermillionpaw cleared his throat nervously. He could see Lycorisbreeze was upset. He secretly liked to watch the she-cat whenever he saw her - those bright eyes, that pelt - but for all his bravado and bravery he was very pathetic around female cats. Vermillionpaw took a deep breath. It was the thought of her sorrow that made him eventually step out. He hadn't really known Elmleaf, but Alderthorn had been his friend. And the last thing he had said to the tom was... Was something scolding. His ears flattened in guilt. And rumour was rife that it had been his own father who had ended the young warrior's life... Vermillionpaw padded to Lycorisbreeze, hesitated, then touched her shoulder lightly with a scrawny white forepaw. "Er, er... Are you, um, alright?"

lycorisbreeze."No," the she-cat replied, a bit more bitterly than intended. She looked up at Vermillionpaw for a moment, her depressed expression not changing as she lifted her muzzle from her paws. He had known Alderthorn, hadn't he...? Yeah... she'd seen him with her late brother a few times. A heavy sigh escaped her maw. She didn't really feel like talking, but maybe Vermillionpaw could cheer her up. "My brothers are dead and one just left me and my sister. It's not good. It's sad. I'm sad," Lycorisbreeze didn't really get that she might have looked like she was trying to lay a guilt trip. She wasn't, but she was looking for some sympathy. She couldn't help it. It was the cost of her mood swings. [/blockquote]

vermillionpaw Vermillionpaw was a little taken aback by her blunt answer. It made him want to turn tail and flee, but he hung around. If he ever wanted to get closer to the she-cat, the least he could do was listen to her worries. The dark red tabby tom shuffled his paws in the grass as she spoke, feeling guiltier than ever. The tom cleared his throat and flicked back his ears. He was a cat for standing up to others, growling fiercely in the face of danger. Not confronting sorrows. "I'm sure Alderthorn is watching you from StarClan," he mewed, more certainly than he felt. The sound of his late friend's name made him want to flinch. "And as for Elmleaf.. Well. I think... I think he was blinded by his own happiness. He didn't really think about his departure hurting you." Vermillionpaw awkwardly touched her shoulder with a paw. "But, uh, don't worry. I can talk to you, if, um... If you ever need someone to just, y'know..."
