avenstail He had no idea how long it had been. He had been hanging in a balance. The balance between life and death. Sometimes he was conscious and whimpering, but never strong enough to open his eyes or speak. But mostly he was deep in a restless sleep, occasionally being beckoned by a deep black softness. So far he had avoided this tempting pull. It had, in fact, been three long days since Avenstail had been attacked by Poisongas. Three days since he had defended Emeraldtalon, Aerialcircle and Cyanfeather from the murderous tom. The slash in his neck was deep. He had lost too much blood. But StarClan had thought long and hard, and finally decided that this tom was more honourable than his father. He would make the right decision about the one he loved. And so they had chosen to let him go on living. It was not time for the young tom to join them.
There was a rattling sound as Avenstail violntly inhaled, his indigo eyes cracking open for the first time in three days. They were veiled and cloudy. The silver tabby writhed for a moment, his ears flicking back and forth. "Maplepool? Maplepool...?"

She hated it. She hated sitting here in this camp, waiting for something she feared would never come. The one thing that kept her from getting up and walking away was him, and her love for him, and the hope that maybe if she was diligent and dedicated like a warrior should be to their Clan that they would save him. Maplepool had refused to move, only eating little scraps of whatever prey she could find near the medicine den. She knew she was technically stealing prey, but it didn't matter. Not now. She'd pay the price later, when Avenstail was better.
He would get better, right?
The brown tabby twitched her tail and widened her eyes as Avenstail spoke, his eyes opening. She gasped, relieved, bending down to nuzzle his cheek. "I'm still here," she breathed, her voice knocked out of her from the wave of happiness at seeing him awake. "Are you alright? Do you need something...?" she sat and curled herself into the nest beside him, letter her body warm his as her fur brushed against him. [/blockquote]

avenstail The silver tabby blinked, his hazy vision hampering him. He was sure, through the thick scent of herbs, he could smell her warm, comforting scent. She was still here, he was sure of it. The silver tabby let out a sigh of relief, as her soft fur brushed his. She had not deserted him. Avenstail feebly licked Maplepool's slim muzzle as she pressed her nose to his. "Maplepool..." His voice was thin, but growing stronger all the time. "I thought... I thought I was going to die." His mind did not linger on this thought for very long. He could vaguely remember what he and Maplepool had said to eachother before he had passed out completely. And it was messing with his mind. Had he imagined it. He had no idea what to do. After a moment, he decided. "Maplepool... Did I imagine it?" If he had, then the she-cat would have no idea what he was talking about. If not...

"No," she whispered, closing her eyes for a moment as she remembered what had happened three days earlier. Three days... it seemed like much longer than that, so much longer, with every minute dragging out like an eternity as she waited for him to wake. But seeing him open his eyes, hearing his voice... it was worth it, she realized. It was perfect... he was going to live... maybe she was the one who had died and gone to StarClan. Maybe this was how they were trying to reward her, by allowing her to be with him. Then again, what was there to reward? A life of masquarades and lies, rude jokes and teasings? No. She hadn't died. And neither had he.
"I love you, Avenstail," she promised him in a low voice, breathing in his scent. Even under the stench of all the different herbs Dancinghare had slopped on his wound, she could still sense the warm scent the drifted off of his fur. "We'll work it out... you'll get better... and even if I'm in EclipseClan... I'll never stop loving you." tears welled up in her eyes at the thought of leaving him again. What would she do? She was worried and unhappy about it, but Avenstail didn't need to add to his own list of worries... [/blockquote]

avenstail His heart sang as Maplepool spoke. He had not imagined it. She loved him. And he loved her. The silver tabby weakly raised his head, to touch his nose to her throat. Though he still felt drained, he was feeling stronger every moment. And Maplepool's news had just made him feel tens time more alive. Avenstail's happiness was dampened slightly by the brown tabby she-cat's words. Though her words encouraged him, he knew what she said could not be so. They could no longer be together. The clan knew about their relationship. Firestar would put a stop to it. She would ban him from seeing Maplepool, his beloved. The silver tabby's indigo eyes narrowed with anguish at the thought. He remembered, vaguely, seeing his father before passing out. After he had confessed to Maplepool, he heard Secretcalling's furious words. His father seemed to hate him. But why? He's always been a hyprocrite. Suddenly, Avenstail felt utterly detached. What did he have left here? Yes, he had his mother, but who said Limestone wouldn't be furiously angry, too? He loved Maplepool more than MoonClan. He would choose her over them any day. And that was what made him decide.
"I'll leave," he mewed quietly. He would not lie and sneak around in the shadows, like his father. He would not hurt people. "I'll leave MoonClan. I love you more than anybody here. Maplepool, I'm coming back to EclipseClan with you, whether Firestar likes it or not." He pushed himself up on his forepaws, his limbs shaking with the effort. "No one can stop me," he mewed, his voice rasping. He then flopped down, exhausted, though his indigo eyes still shone with determination.

Dancinghare You had demons to kill within you screaming...The medicine cat appeared as Avenstail and Maplepool were speaking. The tom padded to the warrior's side in time to hear what he said, but Dancinghare chose to pretend he had not heard him, although Avenstail's choice saddened him greatly; the medicine cat cared greatly for every cat in his clan, and felt very attached to all of them.
"How are you feeling, Avenstail?" Dancinghare asked, giving Maplepool a quick smile. Unlike some of Moonclan, Dancinghare greatly appreciated her help, and did not care that she was from Eclipseclan.

Maplepool gaped at Avenstail, her eyes doubtful for a moment before she understood the weight of his words. She watched silently as he tried to pull himself up but then fell, and she laughed softly despite herself. "No one can stop you but yourself," she murmured for a second before shaking herself slowly, to clear her head. He really meant it. He wanted to come back to EclipseClan with her. She almost cried out in joy when this reached her heart, because she realized that now she would have no reason not to be loyal to EclipseClan: a Clan with Avenstail in it was a Clan worth living in. And, just like that, the walls that had surrounded her heart crumbled - she had something to love now, and he meant the world to her, and she wouldn't have to wait and wonder when she would see him again. He'd always be right there. She felt better than she had in a long time.
But then the other side of the deal came crashing down on her, like a big dark wave. And finally being selfish for so long was catching up on her, because the thought of what Avenstail would be giving up almost choked her. "Avenstail... Are you... sure?" she cast the medicine cat a suspicious look before he smiled at her. Then she relaxed and smiled back as best as she could. Keeping her voice hushed, she meowed, "I have nothing in EclipseClan... I'll come here for you. You don't have to do anything you don't want to." she turned her green eyes on him, her expression a mix between unsure and worried. [/blockquote]

avenstail Before the silver tabby had seen Maplepool's reaction to his decision, Dancinghare padded into the den. He nodded to the medicine cat, before realising that moving his neck was a mistake. The wound searing as though the flesh was being torn apart. He gritted his teeth, pupils slimming. He didn't want Maplepool to worry if she saw his pain. "Better," he gasped, the pain finally fading. "I guess I'm not falling apart any more?" He noticed the bat-eared silver cat smile gently at Maplepool. Gratitude flooded his insides. It seemed that Dancinghare was the only cat who did not judge Avenstail and Maplepool. He noticed the happiness flare in his mate's beautiful eyes. He was making her happy. That caused ripples of joy to carress his own heart. He nodded firmly at her first words. Yes, he was sure. He had decided. How would he live here, without Maplepool? And if Maplepool came here, they would have to live in the shadow of the clan's disgust. Maybe EclipseClan would be more tolerant. "No, my mind's made up. I'm coming back to EclipseClan with you." This time he didn't bother keeping his voice low. Why should he keep his decision a secret? It was his choice, and no one else's.

Dancinghare You had demons to kill within you screaming...Dancinghare nodded, satisfied. "Good good. I'd be careful not to strain yourself for a while though." He meowed, smiling. He twitched his whiskers in amusement at Avenstail's next words. "Well, I personally think that I put you back together pretty well, so no, hopefully not." He chuckled, his tall ears waggling as his slender frame shook with laughter. The medicine cat would definately miss this warrior, but it seemed that he and Maplepool were deeply in love, and that they would not be kept apart. Despite the warrior code, Dancinghare admired their determination to remain together.

It was like a great load was lifted off her chest. As soon as he was in good health, they would go back, go home, be together... She nuzzled her mate, happiness soaring in her chest. For once, the future looked bright, no matter what, because Avenstail would be with her. Even at her own warrior ceremony, a great dark cloud had loomed over her as her and her siblings had marched out to war, newly-named. And then Crowtalon... and then Troutcatcher... she sighed, pressing her muzzle into his silver fur. He wasn't going to leave her. "Thank you, Avenstail," she breathed, meaning it now more than ever.
Straightening up, she turned to Dancinghare. Her eyes were guarded as they were around most strangers, but there was something about him... she knew she could trust him. And though he didn't say anything about it, she knew he had heard Avenstail's plans. "Please, don't tell anyone about this until you absolutely have to," she asked, blinking. "When do you think he'll be ready for travel?" [/blockquote]

avenstail The lean silver tabby warrior said nothing. He could see the gratitude in Maplepool's eyes, and it filled him with happiness. He butted his head affectionately against her chest, then pressed his cheek against her's. They could truly be together now. He didn't want to be like his father - sneaking around until he broke somebody's heart. He wanted to be a true to the thing he loved - and that was Maplepool, not MoonClan. The silver and black striped tom looked imploringly at Dancinghare. He trusted the medicine cat, but would be approve of his leaving MoonClan? He didn't seem angry. Avenstail glanced at Maplepool. He didn't want to keep this a secret. He didn't want to slide away in the dead of night. He wanted it out in the open. He wanted he and his mate to be able to leave with their heads held high. "We can't keep it secret forever," he gently told Maplepool. He wasn't afraid of any cat in MoonClan. Besides, nothing they said could hurt him as long as he had Maplepool by his side.

Dancinghare You had demons to kill within you screaming...The silver tom turned to Maplepool as she looked at him. He noticed the guarded expression and blinked his bright hazel eyes, before she began to speak. He nodded slowly at her words. "If that is what you both want, then I won't tell anyone what I know." He paused, thinking about the she-cat's question. "Hmmm, I'd say in a day or two, depending on how he feels about it. Whenever he feels up to it, really." He meowed, nodding. The slender cat was silent for a moment, then spoke quietly,"If you two really are going back to Eclipseclan together, I want you to promise me you'll always take care of eachother, ok?"
