Every day it seems we're wasting away
Another place where the faces are so cold
I'd drive all night just to get back home
Pioneer has a triangular shaped head. His muzzle is slim and it sticks out finely from his head. His cheekbones are prominent and they help give his face a defined shape. He's slim, with no traces of fat left on his form. His ears are tall and triangular, with tufts at the top. His whiskers are long, and they stick out. His eyes are sunken into his face, and they are a pale green in colour. The fur on his head is a pale brown bordering on dull cinnamon, and he has darker tabby markings on his forehead. His muzzle is white.
As for his body, Pioneer is lithe. His body is slim, including his limbs. Though he's muscled, his muscles don't bulge or stick out at all. His shoulders are relaxed, and his limbs are sturdy despite their size. If there was a word to describe Pioneer's body structure, it would be lean. His paws are larger than would be expected in proportion to his legs. They're wide, and Pioneer has extremely tough paw pads from walking along Twoleg roads. His paws are a very light brown in colour, bordering on white. There are brown spots over them. His left hind paw is twisted at an odd angle, making him walk funny. His pelt is a mixture of browns, from sandy to chestnut to cinnamon. His underbelly is a fluffy white colour, while his back is a light brown. There are darker brown stripes, but they barely show. Cinnamon fur is sprinkled along the edges of his underbelly, and there is some steel grey near his neck. Overall, you would call Pioneer a pale brown tabby.

Pioneer is a very cynical cat. It's not really his fault, given his painful history. He doesn't believe in anything, especially not StarClan. His view on the world is that it's an awful place. He takes most things lightly, no matter if others think that they're serious. He rarely treats anything seriously, but he does it's with complete attention and focus. He prides himself on being almost a mentor for the younger loners. If he meets one, he'll them part of his story and how the world isn't good. He can easily be sarcastic, and he'll use his barbed tongue frequently. When he's happy, he won't show it. He just won't be angry, and he'll insult others less. There's a condescending smirk he has that often appears when Pioneer's in a good mood. He also has this look akin to 'yeah, whatever' that he employs to others. When Pioneer is angry, his fur will bristle and his neck fur will fluff up ominously. He doesn't get angry often, though. He usually just gets annoyed, in which case he will make a lot of smart quips. Pioneer rarely gets sad. When he does, he doesn't show it at all. His emotion wall is that good that most other cats assume he's simply a feelingless and insultive tom.
First impressions are important too. If you happened to chance upon Pioneer at one of his resting spots, you may think that he's slightly nice. He would greet you with a nod and a smirk, chat a little bit and perhaps flirt before taking on a stony silence. His boyish eyes always glint with sarcasm, so he never looks sorrowful or pensive. If you perhaps stayed to try to get to know him a little more, you would be offended. Pioneer would start getting angry and cynical, expressing his views on life and acting bitter about everything. But if through all that, you stayed with him longer to talk and if you began to understand him, you would see that he's actually a friendly cat. He's intelligent and has deep thoughts about the world. As much as he hates it, Pioneer isn't some carefree cat.
Ah, what was he like before? That's a good question. Back when he was a proud warrior, a proud son, and a proud brother, he was nice. He was thoughtful, calm and forgiving. Then the incident with Paprikaleaf happened, and he left. Pioneer was disgusted with himself, and he felt like somehow StarClan had let him down- or like StarClan had never been there in the first place. Pioneer used to care about his friends and his siblings. He used to be a very calm and emotional cat, letting out worries or anxieties. Now, in only the space of a few moons, he's become harsher; more bitter; colder.
Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days
And the people I meet always go their separate ways
Sometimes you tell the day
By the bottle that you drink
And times when you're alone all you do is think
PARENTS++
Pioneer's mother was a beautiful ruddy ginger she-cat by the name of Falufeather. She belonged to MoonClan. One night, Falupaw met a cat from SerenityClan by the name of Yewtail. She stepped on his tail and they got into an argument. It was bitter, and they became instant enemies. The next Gathering, Yewtail tried to apologize to the newly named Falufeather. Falufeather wouldn't hear it. Soon after, Falufeather fell in love with a MoonClan tom by the name of Robincall. They became mates and had kits. These kits were Pioneer (though he was called Shoalkit back then), his brother Redkit and his sister Hailkit. Then, Falufeather accepted Yewtail's apology. The two became good friends. It was when Shoalpaw was an apprentice that Yewtail asked Falufeather to meet him by the border. They met, and Yewtail said that he loved her. He asked her to think about it and meet him the next night. Falufeather reluctantly agreed. The next night, Robincall followed Falufeather because he was suspicious. He saw her meet Yewtail and attacked the tom just when Falufeather was about to reject Yewtail. Robincall slipped and broke his neck. Yewtail's sister had also followed them. She told Jasminestar. Yewtail's name was changed to Yewshadows because of his deception. He went back to MoonClan with Falufeather, and the two became mates. They had three kits together, Cobaltkit, Paprikakit and Simmerkit.
APPRENTICE++
Shoalpaw was happy as an apprentice for the first part. He had a mentor by the name of Burntwood, and he and his siblings got along amazingly. Shoalpaw felt like he could trust Redpaw with his life, and that he could tell Hailpaw anything. They were all happy together. Falufeather and Robincall were madly in love, and the family was cheerful. Shoalpaw trained with his siblings, and he was his way to becoming a great warrior. Then Robincall died, and it changed everything. Falufeather had a new mate, by the name of Yewshadows. Falufeather seemed happy, but Shoalpaw and his siblings weren’t. It seemed like Falufeather had just forgotten Robinpaw. So Redpaw devised a Clan to kill Yewshadows. It worked, and Redpaw made it seem like an accident. Then the ginger tom worked hard to convince himself and his siblings that Yewshadows deserved it. Shoalpaw felt guilty, but he told himself it was worth it to have Falufeather back. Except Falufeather never got over Yewshadows. She became distant, and a loner. Shoalpaw realized that Redpaw must have hurt Cobalkit, Paprikakit and Simmerkit a lot. He put it behind him.
WARRIOR++
Then, at last, they became warriors. Shoalpaw was given the name Shoalpattern. Redpaw was given the name Redleaves, which was an accurate description of the place where Yewshadows had died. Hailpaw became Hailcry. The three of them, Redleaves especially, were very popular in the Clan. But Hailcry and Redleaves harboured a secret hate for Yewshadows’ kits. One time when Hailcry was supervising Cobaltkit and Simmerkit, Simmerkit climb up a high boulder and fell, managing to hold on to a scraggly root with his small paws. Hailcry could have saved him, but she didn’t. She let Simmerkit fall to his death. Then Cobaltpaw and Paprikapaw became warriors. Shoalpattern knew he was aggravating his siblings by being friends with Cobaltpaw, but he didn’t care. Cobaltpaw was so innocent, and Paprikapaw was so beautiful. Shoalpattern began to fall for her, despite the fact that they were half-siblings. Falufeather died, and Shoalpattern confessed to Cobaltpaw that it had been Redleaves who had killed Yewshadows. It strengthened their relationship yet weakened it at the same time. They would never feel like brothers, but they were friends. Then Cobaltpaw and Paprikapaw got their warrior names. Cobaltpaw became Cobaltflight, and Paprikapaw became Paprikaleaf. Shoalpattern glanced at Hailcry and wondered if she was thinking Simmerbreeze, Simmerbreeze in her head. He felt guilty once more. Shoalpattern was deeply in love with Paprikaleaf at that point, and needed to tell it to her. They went hunting, and he confessed. Paprikaleaf thought he must have been planning to force-mate or something, because she ran away from him, obviously disturbed. Cobaltflight questioned Shoalpattern on his return to camp, but Shoalpattern wouldn’t talk. Disgusted with himself, Shoalpattern left MoonClan.
PIONEER++
He changed his name to Pioneer, deciding that it fit him better. He began to wander in and out of the Twolegplace, meeting new cats. He stayed at abandoned motels and in dark graveyards. He had no home anymore, so he went everywhere. He frequented the outskirts of town, or he watched the kittypets play in the perfect little worlds. He decided not to believe in StarClan anymore, and to just believe in himself. Pioneer wandered the roads. He wouldn’t admit it to anyone, but he was looking for something. He didn’t know what. Acceptance, maybe? Something to rid him of his guilt? Someone who could forgive him, or a place to stay… It’s all blurry to him.
