Oleandergaze && Gannetkit ››››// He had a feeling death was upon him. The tom winced at each movement, and he was barely eating anymore. He sighed softly and rested his head next to his son, who was sleeping next to him in a flurry of purrs. Oleandergaze touched Gannetkit awake and nuzzled him softly. "Son...I need to tell you something."
"Father! You've awoken me from my important sleeping time!" Gannetkit grumped, the pretty boy sitting up and grooming his face.
Oleandergaze laughed huskily, touching his large nose to him. "Go tell your mother I love her. I won't be coming back," he said. Gannetkit furrowed his brow and flicked his tail. "What's that supposed to mean, father?" he demanded imperiously.
"Gannetkit, don't....question me. Just go and tell her," the larger tom ordered.
His son nodded grumpily and stood up, padding over to the nursery and calling out in his drawl. "Mother, Father told me to tell you he loves you. You should come talk to him. It's ridiculous for a princely figure like myself to be some common messenger whelp!" Gannetkit groused.
However, by the time she would arrive, a serene expression would have graced the face of the mighty Oleandergaze. The tom was dead.» Comatose » I’ll never wake up without an overdose of you

rhymekit A white-bodied kitten uncurled from deep within the nursery, lifting her drowsy head. She stretched her jaws wide in a long yawn, before blinking her lime-coloured eyes. Rhymekit got to her paws, stretching her entire body and limbs, the steely grey tabby fur on her back rippling in the half-light. The she-cat shook herself, her paws nudging the silky brown coat of her mother, Otterspirit. She grumped under her breath as a familiar, pompous voice floated into the nursery. "Sh... Huh... Huht it, Gannetkit," she mewed loudly, through a yawn. Rhymekit shook herself once more, cold running through her fur, making her shiver. Rhymekit padded out of the nursery, brushing past Gannetkit, flapping her tail across his nose. When she was fully outside she padded up to Oleandergaze.
"Hullo Mr Oleandergaze," she mewed sweetly. She hadn't always got on that that well with Gannetkit's father, and now, she decided, was a good time for a fresh start. "How are you this morning?" She waited. Blinked. Smiled faltingly. Then waited. Then huffed. "Honestly!" she mewed, puffing out her chest.

Dewstep The brown and white female opened her eyes blearily as she heard her son's noisy, pompous voice floating into the nursery, talking loudly about how he shouldn't be made to be a measly messenger. Sitting up, she smiled as she heard what her son had said. "Aw, now isn't that sweet" she said, yawning and stretching. She stood up, going outside to see her mate. She saw him lying on the floor and chuckled, thinking he was playing a joke on her. "Oleandergaze, that was so sweet, I love you..."
The ending of the sentence was cut off by a piercing scream that echoed around the entire camp. The petite female had reached the huge, still form of her mates body. There was no breathy left in his body, the gentle glint had gone from his eyes. "DRAGONFLYDANCE HELP ME!" she screeched, before collpasing onto Oleandergazes body, sobbing like she had when her mother had died. When her father had died. And now her mkate, her dearest love, had gone as well. Carnationkit The little female opened her eyes, a miniature form of her mother, stretching and yawning. "Gosh Gannetkit, you speak so poshly!" she said loudly, wirggling properly to her paws and swaggering outside. She looked over to see Rhymekit and smiling slightly, started over towards the kit before she was frozen in time, stopped dead in her tracks. Her mothers scream tore through her like a hundred claws and Carnationkit echoed it in her smaller voice as she bolted towards her mother. "Mummy! Whats wrong? What is it? Is it you? Is it Daddy? Mummy, tell me!" she demanded, dissolving into a mass of tears. [/sub]

Gannetkit
Words match my deeds with brutal honesty Never forget these choices were made by me
[/blockquote] He turned to stick up his nose at Carnationkit's comment but the sound of his mother screaming caused his spine to nearly rip itself out of his skin. The tom jumped into the air and ran after her, meowing loudly. "Mother? MOTHER!" he hollered, leaping into the medicine den. He ran to her side, batting at her before turning to his father. The face of everlasting gentleness on Oleandergaze's face was now cemented there, and the warmth that had surrounded Gannetkit's frame only moments ago was already waning. He turned to Rhymekit. "What did you do to him?" He didn't know about his father's wound, jumping to conclusions since he saw Rhymekit there.

[[ She hadn't slept that night, not a peep. Jadekit was snoring gently next to her and Spadekit was sleeping as well, but near his mother. The night had been usual. She watched the sunset with Spadekit, they were called back in, had a bite to eat, and fell asleep. All except for her. This wasn't odd for her, almost every night was a sleepless one. No one could tell she was awake, and no one could tell when she was tired to next day. So for Septemberkit, there were no questions.
Until the scream rang through the clearing and shook the moss under the kits paws. Panic rose up her spine in a shiver. It was like those screams when the nightmare reached a climax and you woke up. Yes exactly like that, except her mother was the one screaming and she was screaming for Dragonflydance. Something was terribly wrong. Springing from her nest, she woke up easily and was tempted to get Jadekit and Spadekit up as well, but they would wake in their own time she decided. Septemberkit bounded out the nursery entrance and over to her mother... And father? "Daddy?" she whispered. Oh no, it was just like those nursery stories when the Elders said that the enemy died. She didn't know what death was, but this had to be it. Every time she looked at him, she felt a ghostly feeling rise around her making her shiver and tears prick the edges of her pretty eyes. But the petite feline pushed them away and just glared a hateful glare at her father. Why did you have to leave us?

rhymekit Rhymekit glared at Oleandergaze, her stubby tail lashing. She felt wrongfooted. But as Dewstep padded from the nursery, she backed away. She didn't like the queen. She was quite scary, she had decided. The she-cat's sudden scream confirmed Rhymekit's theory. She was pretty scary. The grey and white tabby kitten blinked in confusion. Why was Dewstep crying? There was no reason to cry. Rhymekit puffed out her chest, feeling confused. Then Carnationkit started crying. And she realised. Maybe... Maybe Oleandergaze was... Like the prey? Like the fresh kill they ate? Rhymekit gasped, her lime-coloured eyes growing very large. "Gosh," she mewed, awed. The kitten suddenly had terrible images of her own father, lying in a similar way, and shivered. She wanted to go to him, but at that moment, Gannetkit spoke.
"I didn't do anything!" she wailed in a protesting voice. "I was just saying g'morning to him! I didn't do anything. Honest!" dragonflydance The screech hit her ears like gunfire. The white she-cat was awake immediatly, on her paws. Dragonflydance seized a pawful of cobwebs and a mouthful of likely herbs, and shoved her way out of the den. But as she took in the scene, she let the herbs fall from between her teeth, and peeled the cobwebs back off her paw. She had known this was going to happen soon. The snow-coloured she-cat took a deep breath. She hated this part of being a medicine cat. Sadness welled up inside of her, but she pushed it away. She had to be strong, for Dewstep and her four little one's. The medicine cat approached the grieving family and touched Dewstep between the ears. "There's nothing I can do, Dewstep," she murmured softly. "He's gone. I'm sorry." Dragonflydance stepped back to give the queen some space. She licked Septemberkit on her small pointed ears, sympathy filling her body.
At Gannetkit's words she shook her head. "It's nobody's fault, little one," she mewed, pulling Gannetkit against her soft chest. "He'll watch you now, all of you, from StarClan."

Dewstep The brown and white female raised her head, snot dribbling from her nose as the tears poured down her face. She shook her head as Dragonflydance began to speak, her breath getting more shallow and wheezy. "No....no, he can't be, Dragonflydance please...." she whispered, taking a deep ragged breath. She saw Dragonflydance help her children, her kits. Their kits. Her children, thay had lost their father. Fresh sobs engulfed her as she staggered towards Dragonflydance, spluttering and wheezing as she buried her face into the snowy white she-cat. "Why him Dragonflydance? Why me? Why do they always steal the ones i love?" she sobbed, her tiny form shaking uncontrollably as she wept. Carnationkit The tiny kitten, the double of her mother, looked up at everybody totally terrified. She had no idea what was going on and this whole thing was scaring her. She watched tearfully as her mother sobbed into Dragonflydances shoulder. Carnationkit saw Septemberkit appear but hesitated on approaching her sister, fearing she would do or say something wrong. So instead she turned to Gannetkit, whom she felt was the wisest out of all of her siblings, apart from Jadekit, but her other sister wasn't ehre. "Gannekit, whats wrong with everyone? Why are they all crying?" sdhe sniffled, looking at her brother desperately. [/sub]

dragonflydance The slim white she-cat watched, her blue eyes sad, as the scene unfolded before her. The medicine cat stroked Gannetkit's head with one paw, her mouth pursed. She hated this. Why hadn't she been able to do anything for Oleandergaze? She was supposed to heal cats, not watch them die. Dragonflydance shook her head fiercely to clear it. She needed to concentrate. It was her job to make sure this family got through this. Dragonflydance licked Dewstep between the ears, lifting a paw to wipe the tears from the small queen's eyes. "Dewstep, you must think of the present, not dwell on the past," she soothed. "Your kits need you. You still have them. And you still have Tawnysky. You're not alone, sweetheart." She pressed her nose to the she-cat's patched cheek. "We have to organize a burial, but for now, I will let the rest of the clan know what has transpired." Dragonflydance gave Gannetkit a little stroke on his cheek with her tail tip, before padding to the warriors' den to pass on the sad news. tawnysky A small she-cat slipped into the camp via the front entrance. Her coat was dripping from her swim across the river, but she was still recognizable as Tawnysky. Luckily, because she had swam through the river, the scents of terror and Eaglecry had been washed away, along with the salty scent of the storm. Tawnysky had been in hiding for the past few days, trapped by the terrible storm. Her green eyes widened at what greeted her. Her sister, sobbing, Dragonflydance, comforting her. Her sister's kits, crying and looking dazed. And in the middle of it all, Oleandergaze, lying still and serene. He was dead. Tawnysky blinked, shocked. She didn't know what to do. She had never liked the tom, and recently she hadn't liked Dewstep much either. And she certainly hated those snotty kits. But she despised seeing Dewstep upset like this.
Tawnysky padded awkwardly to her sister and looked her in the eyes, olive green meeting teary blue. "Er, Dewstep... I'm really sorry," she mewed. "But I'm sure he'll watch you from StarClan." Tawnysky then padded away. She couldn't stand the tension between them. But she knew it would always be there, for as long as she kept Eaglecry a secret. But she couldn't tell anyone. She loved him. And her clan would never change that.

Dewstep The petite female sniffed hard as Dragonflydance spoke to her. She hated making such a scene in front of her children but it was so hard. Dewstep tensed as Dragonflydance mentioned her sister. She hated thinking about Tawnysky now. There was so such an atmoshpere between them now, it was like they hardly knew each other. Plus, she hadnt seen her in days. Suddenly, the soaking wet form of Tawnysky appeared, making Dewstep jump, like she had been reading her thoughts. She lowered her gaze, ready for her sister to walk past without a word but found herself surprised as Tawnysky spoke to her. She lifted her head, eyes filled with fresh tears at the loss of friendship between her and her sister and nodded as the other female spoke, as she could not bring herself to say anything. Dewstep turned, trembling to her children. "Sweethearts, I would like you all to go back to the nursery and stay inside. Give Daddy a kiss goodnight and then inside you go" she said to then, her voice shaking as she spoke. She turned her gaze back to Oleandergaze, focusing on his face, his beautiful, gentle face. Oh, how she would miss him. Eyes filling with tears, she crouched down and buried her face in Oleandergazes long, brown fur and began the mourning process that would break her heart. [/sub]

rhymekit Rhymekit watched the scene with hugely round eyes. The she-cat pressed her chin into her forepaws, scared. She wasn't entirely sure what was going on. She had never seen anything like this before. Oleandergaze couldn't be sleeping. They'd prodded and poked him enough to wake a sleeping badger. So what was wrong with him? Was he like the prey...? Rhymekit decided he must be, otherwise why would Dewstep be crying like that? The grey tabby and white kitten watched as she spoke to her kits. After all of her litter filed back into the nursery, Rhymekit timidly approached the grieving she-cat. "Er... Um, er... D-Dewstep, is it my fault?" she mewed in a small voice. "Because he d-didn't like me very much, did he? I'm sorry..." She hung her head.

Dewstep The petite female raised her head as she heard a small voice next to her. Blinking, her eyes swimming with tears, she made out the tiny form of Rhymekit. Listening to the little she-cat speak the creamy brown and white female got to her paws, shaking her head. She licked the tiny kit between the ears, her eyes soft. "No sweetie, it wasn't you. Oleandergaze just didn't feel very well at all and he had to go. Never think that it was your fault and never think he didn't like you. Oleandergaze liked everyone, and you are a very sweet kit honey" she said to Rhymekit softly, sniffing hard as she spoke. Shakily, she got to her paws, casting one last glance at Oleandergaze, before padding over to him and touching her nose to his cheek.
Safe journey to StarClan my love. You will always be in my heart.
She raised herself again, turning to Rhymekit. "Shall we go back inside?" she said to the little female, wiping the tears from her cheeks. [/sub]

Gannetkit
Words match my deeds with brutal honesty Never forget these choices were made by me
[/blockquote] Gannetkit's eyes hardened as he stared straight ahead mutely. He couldn't feel Dragonflydance's comforting licks, nor hear anyone speaking to him. "My king has left us," he murmured. The prince turned his head and strode wordlessly away from Rhymekit, Dragonflydance, and his family. He headed towards the nursery, staring down at the black and white kit that had failed to move. She curled up, shivering slightly because everyone had left her. Gannetkit watched Loonkit and then nestled down against her, curling up.
"Gannetkit." The wispy voice of the she-cat next to him reached his ears when no one else's would.
"Yes?"
"He's dead?"
"Yes..."
"I'm sorry." She shifted beside him and the two slept. Loonkit ¤¤ Constellations strung up like barbed wire, wire, wire ;;

jadekit* Her voice came from behind her brother and foster-sister. Her jade eyes were wide, shocked, showing an emotion that the small little she-cat had never shown before. "Our father's gone? Why didn't anyone tell me! Or wake me! For StarClan's sake!" Jadekit growled, her eyes narrowing as she looked away from Gannetkit and Loonkit. "Where's mother"[/ul]
