The Squirrel-tailed warrior was ready to get up but his mind was racing. It was the day after the dreadful storm that had pinned his brother under that large tree and broken his paw. It had not only broken his paw, but broke the grudge that he had against Mountainwind and their sister, Morningbreeze. 'Perhaps I'll go visit him after I go hunting and bring him a plump rabbit.'

His mind suddenly drifted to the she-cat who helped him save his brothers life, despite the things that he spat at her. Stripedfeather. The mere mention of her name made his heart flutter for some reason. No, he knew the reason. He loved her. He loved the way she hunted, the way she fights, the way she showed courage and was willing to help Palegust. Maybe she'd liked to go hunting with him... He was once again lost in thought.

Stripedfeather's young figure seemed to dance in the morning light as she slept. But as the sunlight touched her, she lifted her head and her jaws parted in a yawn. She looked over at Mountainwind's nest, and noticed he was awake. So Stripedfeather crawled over to his nest and meowed, Good morning, good sir. Would you like to go hunting? She had a cheeky grin on her face, before she left the Warriors' Den, and stood outside.

As she looked around the clearing, her mind whizzed around at a million thoughts. She had to go visit her parents today. They seemed to be a little lonely, being the only elders. She decided that after she went hunting with Mountainwind, she would visit her parents, maybe bring Mountainwind with her.

Ahh, Mountainwind. He was her best friend, apart from her brothers and sisters, of course. She looked back at the Warriors' Den, and her heart fluttered. She shook her head. He was her best friend, and he wouldn't like her. Who would like her? She was just an ordinary warrior. She shook her head and sniffed the air.

The air was full of prey-scents, even in the camp. Her mouth watered as she scented the air. She and Mountainwind would have great hunting today. She could already visualize the pair, having returned from their hunting expedition with their jaws laden with prey. Today was going to be a good day.</sub>

The warrior was jolted out of his daydreams by the very she-cat that he was thinking about. A soft smile crept across his face as he looked at her, her fur shining in the morning sun rays almost making her look like a cat from StarClan. He watched as she asked him something then pad out of the den.

It took him a moment before he realized that she was waiting for him so he stretched before heading outside into the bright light. And there she was, waiting for him. "So where shall we hunt this morning?"

Stripedfeather's eyes lit up as Mountainwind exited the warriors' den, and padded over to her. She grinned goofily. Where the prey is. She meowed. Hmmm... where would be the best part? She asked her friend, trying to ignore the excited butterflies in her stomach.

She knew she had to tell Mountainwind. She had to tell him she was in love with him. That's why she had forgiven him for the words he had spat at her when Palegust was struck by a tree branch. That's why she had continued to nag him about what was wrong until he told her. Now, she had to tell him that she loved him. Soon.</sub>

The warrior started thinking of the different places that they could hunt. He looked up at the cloudless skies and had a feeling that today was going to be a nice, sunny day. "We could always try the Cloudy hills. It looks like its going to be a beautiful day." 'But not as beautiful as you.' His thoughts echoed.

Stripedfeather's eyes set on Mountainwind as she nodded. When they began to pad to the entrance of the camp, she stopped and turned to him. "Mountainwind, you know I'm a cat who is proud of myself, and if someone spats at me, I usually am mad at them for quite a while. But I wasn't mad at you after you screamed at me. Mountainwind... I think I love you." There, she had said it. Now she ducked away, afraid he would scream at her again and storm away. Why did I tell him? She moaned inside of her head.</sub>[/color]

The warrior did just the opposite of what the she-cat thought he would do. Instead he lovingly pressed his head against hers, feeling the exact same way. He wanted this moment to last forever, just the two of them together, him and her side-by-side. For a while he was too choked up to say anything and just stood there breathing in her scent, letting it wrap around him. Finally he was able to speak, stepping back to look into her eyes. "I love you too. I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since you helped to save my brothers life under that tree."

Stripefeather purred with delight. "I haven't stopped thinking about you either." she told him. As he pressed against her, she licked his ear, and sat there silently, enjoying the moment with him. Then she nodded her head. "We should go hunting," She meowed, looking at him with new love in her eyes. "Still want to go to Cloudy Hills?" She asked him, prodding him with a paw.</sub>[/color]

"I'll follow you to the ends of the earth." He told her meaning every word. "But yes, the clouds look clear today so I don't think we should run into any problems."

Stripedfeather pressed her nose into his side. "And I would follow you too." She promised him, meaning all her words. As she stood up, she grinned at him. "C'mon. If we wait any longer, the prey'll be asleep." She grinned at him goofily, before padding to the entrance.

She ought to visit her parents, and tell them the good news soon. They would want to know. Her eyes gleamed as she thought about her parents. Is this how they had felt when they first fell in love? Stripedfeather smiled to herself. It must've been. She turned around and watched Mountainwind, smiling still.

She couldn't believe it, but somehow Palegust had done some good. He had brought two cats together in love. She had to go thank him soon. Odd. She was going to go thank a cat who seemed to hate everyone. But he had changed. And she was glad. As she turned to wait at the entrance, she felt herself warm up, despite the morning chill. This was love.</sub>[/color]
