&& kuri~ ° [[ Kimi no chikara ni naritainda ]] ° ~ Pansyblossom ° [[ I want to become your strength ]]° She couldn't believe it. Her mother was pregnant again. Was her grief over Moonkit so great that she felt the need to produce more to either cover him up or replace him? Pansyblossom's stormy-gray eyes clenched shut, hiding the tears threatening to come. If she thought that about Moonkit, what about her daughters? Did they matter anymore?
About five seconds after notifying Petalrain and Daisyflower, she had made her way over to the apprentice's den and collected Thunderpaw with a stiff "Let's go". Now they were going out in the fields for some hunting and a patrol.
Collecting herself a bit, she turned to the tom and tilted her head, letting the bright morning sunshine wash over her beautiful ginger pelt. "Alright. We'll do a brief run-through of basic hunting and patrolling, but mostly, we're working on how to pin other cats." She smiled, even if it was fake. "Sound good to you?"

Thunderpaw nodded and blinked, but he could tell that something was wrong. Was she still greiving for Moonkit? Hadn't someone at the gathering said that they expected the lost kits to still be alive? He had become so observant, observant and quiet. Whatever was bothering his mentor... it was none of his business. He had to respect that, like any normal warrior would. But could he ever be a normal warrior? Honestly, he was a father and yet he was being trained right now. Trained by a warrioress who had not even had kits yet.
No, he'd never be 'normal' again. But he could be loyal.
Focusing on the present, he remembered one of the wisest things his parents had ever said to him: Time only flows forward, never backwards. He had to go foreward, too. He couldn't fight the current. He couldn't try to go back and change what had happened. At the same time, he knew he could never forget Yewchime, Cosmickit or Tallkit.
He decided that it was best not to get lost in thought right now and meowed, "I know how to hunt, and I remember where Jay's Hollow and the rest of the territory is," he meowed, reviewing what he had learned before from other warriors. "The EclipseClan and BrightClan borders are patrolled every other day, right?" he licked a white paw, placing it down on the forest floor again silently. [/blockquote]

~ ° [[ Kimi no chikara ni naritainda ]] ° ~ Pansyblossom ° [[ I want to become your strength ]]° "That's right, unless something happens," Pansyblossom said, smiling and trying to forget what had happened earlier so that she could focus on training her apprentice. SerenityClan was just a big flurry of emotional happenings right now, and she didn't need to add to it.
The she-cat lowered her head to the ground and stretched, unsheathing and sheathing her claws. "Alright, tactics. When you're pinning someone, you have to make sure that even though you're distributing your weight unevenly, you still have the upperhand. When you're pinning someone, make sure you've got your claws knitted in their hair and your mouth in their scruff, okay? Try it on me." Pansyblossom lunged for Thunderpaw.

Thunderpaw really didn't know what to do when Pansyblossom lunged at him, so he skirted around her instead, deciding that the best way to attack would be from behind. Not wanting the warrioress to turn around on him, he decided that because he was almost as big as she was he would be able to pin her down under his weight and should just attack sooner rather than later. It was a rash decision, especially for someone as shrewed as Thunderpaw, but he wanted to impress her. Impulse was important. Springing up, he squared himself to land on top of his mentor. He felt his paws hit her fur but didn't want to dig in with his claws just yet. Hoping for the best, he came down on her and tried to wrestle her off her paws . ** I don't want to powerplay.

~ ° [[ Kimi no chikara ni naritainda ]] ° ~ Pansyblossom ° [[ I want to become your strength ]]° Pansyblossom had been taught what to do when a heavier cat moved to pin her so the lithe female wriggled and writhed so that her mouth was right under Thunderpaw's neck. She paused and motioned for him to get off of her. "One thing you have to remember is that a pinned cat will do anything to get free so you have to block off all attacks if you're going to imprison them successfully. Because you used your weight to keep my rear down, that blocked my powerful hindpaws from scratching you--which was good--but it also left our heads open for attack. I'm faster than you, and I instantly went to bite your neck." She gestured to her target with her paw.
"So when you pin someone, bite down on their scruff and use your weight to hold them down, just like you did before. Good job for a first try." She smiled and nodded encouragingly. "Here, let's try again." Pansyblossom charged for Thunderpaw and swung for his muzzle, claws sheathed.

Thunderpaw listened to his mentor's advice, thinking about what he would do if he was being pinned. She was right, any cat would squirm and shake. This time more prepared, he stood his ground as Pansyblossom headed towards him. Trusting instinct, he ducked out of the way of her paw, but felt it graze his ear. Gah. He would have lost that if her claws hadn't been sheathed. The tom jumped up and landed slightly lopsided on top of her, trying to hold his mentor down by the shoulders as he pushed her to the ground. He buried his muzzle in her neck fur, grabbing her scruff gently. [/blockquote]

~ ° [[ Kimi no chikara ni naritainda ]] ° ~ Pansyblossom ° [[ I want to become your strength ]]° Pansyblossom toppled over with a squeak as Thunderpaw pinned her. "Good job," she said breathlessly, squirming beneath him as the signal to let her go. She shook herself off and smoothed down her fur. "A job well done," she said, nodding in approval. She smiled at him and tried to think of another thing that they should work on.
"A thing you can work on is weakness. If you're facing a veteran warrior much larger than yourself and you can't bring them down quickly, you can whittle away at their defenses." She brought herself to a battle stance. "For example, you can batter at their legs so it's hard for them to counter or move. You can claw at their eyes so that it's hard to see. Understand?" Pansyblossom turned to a nearby tree. "We'll practice on that tree. Use that as a scratching post."

Thanks, he meowed, brushing himelf off slightly before setting his green gaze on Pansyblossom again. He was intent on becoming a warrior, that was for sure. He turned his head to look at the tree she spoke of, and as silly as it sounds Thunderpaw headed towards the tree and began sparring with it as if it were a cat from an enemy Clan, darting around it and scratching at the bark. Of course, it was hard to know where to scratch when you can't see any features, and it was much easier than facing a real cat in battle because... well, trees don't move, obviously.
Once he thought he had done enough the tomcat rested, looking to his mentor for any advice she had to give him. [/blockquote]

~ ° [[ Kimi no chikara ni naritainda ]] ° ~ Pansyblossom ° [[ I want to become your strength ]]° "Good job," Pansyblossom said. "This'll serve as our meeting place." Her bright eyes turned to Thunderpaw. "If ever--ever!--you need to talk to me or train, or if I say meet me at the grounds, I mean here, at the Marked Tree, okay?" She smiled gently at him. "As your mentor, you can talk to me about anything."
"Let's take a break for now, okay. I don't want our paws to bleed. We'll continue later." The she-cat sat down on her haunches and began grooming herself meticulously.
"So Thunderpaw, tell me a little bit about yourself," Pansyblossom said curiously.

Anything. He almost purred in amusement. No, he couldn't talk to her about anything. His tail brushed over the newly-named tree and padded foreward to sit facing his mentor. The tabby tom dug out the roots of some grass with his claws and took the time that she was silent to groom himself, as well. The sun beat down on his back even through the canopy of leaves, making him twitch slightly in an effort to cool off his scorching back.
About myself? he asked, trying not to sound too surprised. It was natural that a mentor would want to know about their apprentice... Well, there isn't much to tell... he lied, glancing over his shoulder and looking around the clearing before turning back to Pansyblossom. My mother raised me because my father died when I was young and my sister was stillborn. My mentor was an old tom called Jupiterclaw, who died in a battle. My mother had an infected wound and passed within the first few weeks of my apprenticeship. This was where... For the first time in his life, he wanted to tell someone. And yet, he still didn't want anyone to know. Binking, he tried to surpress the uneasy feeling in his stomach as he meowed. Other than that, I met an EclipseClan she-cat at the first gathering I went to. We talked and... ran into eachother a few times, he shrugged lightly, although it came out like a slight twitch. This was the one thing that Thunderpaw was uncomfortable about. Going into battle? Doesn't make him nervous. A rogue on the territory? Thunderpaw'll voulenteer to go find him. But this... She's just a friend. [/blockquote]

~ ° [[ Kimi no chikara ni naritainda ]] ° ~ Pansyblossom ° [[ I want to become your strength ]]° "I remember when I had a friend like that. Gallantpaw. He was a CloudClan apprentice. I think he died in the battle with the Tribe. That's where I saw him last. We talked a lot at the Gatherings. It's a shame the kid passed so young," Pansyblossom said wistfully, lifting up a slim paw and running her tongue down it.
Speaking of kids, she wondered what her mother was doing. She had been pretty heavily pregnant by the time Pansyblossom had found out about it, she supposed, by the looks. A sigh slipped through the she-cat's teeth.
"I wish I knew how Crescentgaze and Moonkit are doing..."

A load was lifted off the relieved SerenityClan apprentice as his mentor skimmed over his uncomfort. He hadn't attended to the battle against the Tribe, but many loyal warriors had died that day. He stayed quiet at first as the longhaired she-cat mentioned her father and brother. He had heard stories of the valiant Crecentgaze, who was apparently a popular choice for deputy at the time before his death. Moonkit was also talked about, although not as much, perhaps in an effort not to panic his family.
Crecentgaze... is probably watching you right now. Were Cosmickit and Tallkit watching him? Was it possible for them to know their father they had never met? Even then, he knew that his own family would be watching him. I can't say anything about Mookit, though. He might still be alive. [/blockquote]

ooc;// Lol Mookit? bic;// ~ ° [[ Kimi no chikara ni naritainda ]] ° ~ Pansyblossom ° [[ I want to become your strength ]]° "I hope so." She smiled at his encouraging words and faced him, her storm-gray eyes twinkling. "Y'know, I knew your parents. I was an new warrior when your father died but Warrenpelt seemed like the dad I'd like to have. I'm sure he'd be proud of you, Thunderpaw." The she-cat flicked her tail and raised herself to her paws.
"Alright, enough chit-chat. We're going to do some more exercises before making our way back to camp. I'm sure Clearpool could use your help making the camp presentable. It's gotten kind of drabby with all the battles lately." Pansyblossom dipped her head.
"We're going to work on weakness. You're going to go as fast as you can, hitting a weak spot. However, you've got to watch out because I'll strike back randomly, understand?" She crouched into battle position and waited until he was ready.
