Gannetkit
Words match my deeds with brutal honesty Never forget these choices were made by me
[/blockquote] His Highness, Gannetkit of CloudClan, stepped majestically out of the medicine cat den. He lifted his head slowly, inhaling and exhaling deeply before sitting down and promptly grooming himself in a most meticulous manner. After obtaining a spot of a milk from his beloved mother, the prince had made his way over to where his father was located. The two had spoken briefly before Oleandergaze had gotten dreadfully tired and beseeched Gannetkit's pardon so that the older male could partake in a nap.
So the beautiful young prince had found himself here, bathing in the dusky twilight. The white-muzzled tom continued to groom himself as his thoughts dwelled upon his esteemed sisters, the princesses of his family, and of his grandfather, the honored late one. He wished he could have met the one who died on his birthday.
"Carnationkit? Mother? Septemberkit? Jadekit?" The prince's kit-like trill rang out through the silence of a quiet Clan. It seemed like everyone was at the Gathering and it was boring for the little royal. He padded around boredly.

rhymekit Life had developed for Rhymekit, recently. The tiny little she-cat was still just that, tiny, but her senses had become more advanced. But still, she could not see. The kitten rolled over onto her stomach. She had suckled her fill, and was now tired of it. She had started to feel a wider range of emotions, too. Impatience was one of them. She wanted to get up and explore all the places she could smell, but her mother would not let her investigate. She could get on her paws and totter about, but Otterspirit would never let her get far. But today, it was going to be different. Her mother was at the Gathering. She was free. Rhymekit heard a loud, trilling voice hit her ears. The kit started, and - her eyes opened. The she-cat blinked them open wide and stared around. It was gloomy in here. Strange. She struggled onto her chubby, unsteady paws, and toddled towards the source of noise.
Rhymekit narrowed her newly opened eyes at the brightness of the light outside. She could see a small cat out in the sunshine. Having never seen him before, his appearance meant nothing to her. But she recognized the scent. This was Gannetkit. Taking a deep breath, Rhymekit spoke. "Hi Gannetkit!" she squealed. "Whoah, it's weird out here. What's this?" She prodded the grass with a paw, her nose wrinkled. She then looked up at the sky. "Whoah, look look! What's that?" The kitten's sides heaved with excitement, her eyes gleaming.

Gannetkit
Words match my deeds with brutal honesty Never forget these choices were made by me
[/blockquote] The prince found himself disappointed as his high call was answered by Rhymekit, a commoner. He lifted up his head haughtily, pouting just a little bit. "You're not my sisters," he said grumpily, ears bending back. Gannetkit, however, decided to humor the peasant since, after all, his esteemed mother was babysitting Rhymekit and her kin until Otterspirit returned from the Gathering. He decided that it would be a nice show of the prince to be kind.
"Hail, Rhymekit!" he meowed formally. He blinked as she entertained herself with exploring, and he wondered if he had been so inquisitive when he was first allowed out of the nursery. Then again, everything he wanted to know was usually told by his mother and father. It was almost as if they could read his mind.
The brown and black tabby turned his beautiful amber gaze to the she-kit, affixing the girl with his majestic stare. "How do you fare, my lady, on the beginning of a night as beautiful as you are?" Pure sarcasm, but Rhymekit probably wouldn't catch it.

rhymekit Rhymekit barely registered Gannetkit's words. She continued to totter around, exploring everything, her eyes wide and excitable. "Why d'you talk funny?" she asked, giggling slightly. The grey and white tabby's eyes bulged as large moth winged past. "Oh wowwers! Look, Gannetkit, check it out! Look! Look!" The she-cat gambolled after it, tripping over her paws and swiping the air, trying to catch the moth. "Wait, don't go, Mr Flying Thing!" Rhymekit watched it fly higher and higher into the dark sky. She pouted, loong sulky, until her eye caught a gleam of silver. "Wow! Wow! Look, Gannetkit, it's shiny! Look!" She ran back to him and nudged him urgently, before staring back up at the star she had picked out. Rhymekit wiggled excitedly, her tail quivering.
The world was so cool! Why hadn't her mother let her see it earlier? The she-cat continued to stare, open-mouthed and wide-eyed, but at the sky, her whole stance expressing utter joy.

Words match my deeds with brutal honesty Never forget these choices were made by me
[/blockquote] He, Gannetkit, talked funny? His eye twitched as his pride was slapped at. "Excuse me?" he growled, but Rhymekit was already bouncing away. Despite himself, his legs followed after the female who was chasing a moth and then drawn to the starry skies that were painted red, purple, and blue. The prince frowned slightly, not liking how Rhymekit had simply dismissed him earlier.
"It's called a star," he said loftily, his tail curling around his tiny paws. The prince watched the girl, wondering how everything captivated her so much. He simply didn't understand what was so great about everything else besides him. The pompous child puffed out his chest slightly as he began his speech about the stars.
"StarClan is up there, and those stars make up the great Silverpelt, whose fur covers the night sky." He directed her with his nose. "All of the Clan's past warriors live up there, and Stormstar and Dragonflydance can talk to them."

rhymekit Rhymekit's eyes gleamed with delight. "A star?" she sounded awe-struck. "Wow, like Stormstar?" The kit looked very proud of herself. She had picked up this name from cats that came and went from the nursery. Her mouth hung open at Gannetkit's next words. There were cats that lived in the sky? That was where you lived after you died? And Stormstar and Dragonflydance could speak with them? Rhymekit let out a little squeal of excitement. "Oh wow! They can speak with them? So what, do they like, fly up there and just say hi?" Rhymekit began to prance about her, leaping as high as she could, so that her tail flopped up and down behind her. "I can fly! Just like Mr Flying Thing! Yaaay!"
Something distracted Rhymekit as she landing from a particularly high leap, and she tripped, sprawling in the short grass. She sprang up immediatly, staring at the medicine den. "Wowwers, it smells so weird," she mewed, wrinkling her nose. Suddenly she gasped. "I'm gonna go explore! You comin'?"

Mirrorkit Mirrorkit bounded out of the den excitedly. "Rhymekit! Rhymekit! I can see!" she cried, pointing with her paw to her eyes. She looked around and noticed Gannetkit. She padded over to hom and bowed her head, knowing that he preferred to be 'royal'. "Hello, you're majesty," she snickered, looking up.
Mirrorkit pushed Rhymekit and looked up at the sky, "So those are stars?" The kitten grinned, 'I wanna go find more stars! C'mon!" she waddled around her sister, "C'mon, c'mon!"

[/blockquote] Gannetkit's nose wrinkled at Rhymekit's incessant babbling. The prince's chest puffed out protectively when she mentioned exploring the medicine den. "By StarClan, no! My father is in there sleeping. We dare not wake him!" he meowed indignantly, his fur bristling slightly as he ran to intercept Rhymekit's parade into the den.
However, he was slightly pacified when the lady Mirrorkit arrived and humored the kit--though he'd never notice--with a 'polite' Your Majesty. He didn't bother to correct her on the title, merely complimenting the femme's words.
"That's right, Rhymekit. Go play with your sister and look for stars." He was a bit grumpy now. Where were his sisters?

S E P T E M B E R K I T In the shadows of a darkening clearing sat a small fluffy tabby she-cat. Her pelt was spotted with orange blotches so she stuck out against the blueish glow in the sky that evening. The clearing was pretty much silent since many warriors and apprentices were attending the gathering. Septemberkit may not have told anyone her dream of one day attending the gathering and meeting other cats from different Clans. She didn't feel as though anyone needed to know her dreams.
There was one sound that stuck out against all the birds and the smaller voices of mates grooming each other, apprentices playing and eating together, and kits playing. Especially, the voices of Gannetkit and Rhymekit. Sighing, she knew that she had to eventually come out of her little shell, but she would never play with those annoying little kits with their high pitched voices. Gannetkit was just so princey. He thought he was the best one there. But somehow, she knew that she was needed.
Slowly, the little fluffy kitten came out of her shell and into the little light that was left. Her little body creeped over to where the kittens where sitting and talking. Septemberkit took a spot over next to Jadekit. Somewhere in her heart, she wanted to be closer to her siblings but every time she tried, there was always something stopping her. She wanted to find someone that she could talk to but everyone here was either a brat or way too loud.
She didn't speak. She didn't move. She just sat and listened quietly. [/blockquote]

Like two of his sisters, Spadekit had opened his eyes earlier in the day. He had already seen sun, cloud, leaf and all the other stuff there was to see during the day. His mother had helped him know all the names, too. But now she had gone! Her nest was empty! The tiny kit was confused by the new range of emotions he could feel in his chest. It was dark now. Otterspirit had said it becomes dark at night. Why wasn't his mommy here? Would she always go away when it was dark? He saw that Rhymekit and Mirrorkit had already taken this chance to go and explore the world. He sniffed, but his nose took in nothing but milk and his mother's scent. A small mewl escaped his muzzle as he managed to sit up, then, walk slowly until he got to the entrance of the nursery. Night looked so different! Everything was dark and... oh, what were those bright dots in the sky? Why had the sun turned all silvery. Enchanted by this second world, he moved toward his sisters, but he wasn't used to looking where he was going and he stumbled over the much-bigger Septemberkit.
"O-h." he mewed, bashfullness taking him as he crouched down. "Sowwy... um..." he blinked, not sure of the she-cat's name. He had never been good at hearing gossip in the nursery, let alone the names of the other kits.

rhymekit Rhymekit mewed loudly as Mirrorkit appeared. "Hi Mirrorkit!" she squealed happily. The white and grey tabby nodded in the direction of the medicine den. "I was about to go and explore in there! Doesn't it smell weird? It does, doesn't it?" The little cat's lime green eyes widened at Gannetkit's words, though she didn't react to his shooing. "Wow, your dad?" she mewed, as though she was speaking about the leader of StarClan. "Wow, cool, he can tell us about bein' a warrior and all that stuff! C'mon, Mirrorkit! Let's go!" Rhymekit charged into the nursery, her eyes gleaming with excitement. She accidentally trod on a pile of herbs, then sniffed them experimentally.
"Hey, Mirrorkit, come smell these!" she meowed loudly, her tail sticking straight up into the air. "D'you dare me to eat one? Do you? Do you? Huh, huh?"

[/blockquote] Gannetkit flashed Jadekit a hopeless look, but when she distracted him from Rhymekit, the prince let out an aggravated unprincely snarl. "I said NO!" he snapped, turning on his prim heels and tackling Rhymekit with a loud hiss. "Go outside! Now! My father is asleep in there, and if Dragonflydance isn't here, then you're not allowed in here anyway. If you don't move, I'm going to tell on you!" The prince's beautiful fur bristled out defensively as he attempted to push Rhymekit back out. He was on the verge of stomping his paws and throwing a temper tantrum.

Mirrorkit was mixed up in all that was happening. "Huh?" she said, dazed, "Uhh... Sure," not knowing what she was answering. She heard an angry bristling voice and shrunk away from it.
"Hey, wait a second, we don't have to listen to you," she snapped, her cowardice fading. "You're not Pa, or Mum! And my pa's in there too so don't go all 'I-Can-Do-Whatever-I-Want-Cause-I-Think-I'm-Royalty' on me" She fumed angrily, her eyes fiery. "And I don't care if you tell on us! What're they gonna do? Kick us out of the clan? My mum's not here anyway!"

[/blockquote] "You stupid little girl! Do you think I care for one second about your puny opinion!?" Gannetkit snarled, his glare turning to Mirrorkit. "My mother is your guardian until yours gets back so if you think for one second that you won't get in trouble for being hooligans in Dragonflydance's den, you are wrong, missy!" The prince stormed up to the she-kit, getting in her face.
"And I. Am. A prince!" The male's brown paw lifted up into air, claws unsheathed as he aimed it for her face.Oleandergaze ››››// "What is the meaning of this?" Oleandergaze's powerful voice struck out into the dusk like thunder. The massive brown tom limped out of the darkness of the medicine cat den, awoken by the yelling of the kits. Rhymekit, Mirrorkit, if you're going to be in here, it better be to see Barrenclaw. What is the problem here?" Carnationkit "What do you want know?"
The irritated voice of the bold little kitten slashed through the tense atmosphere like a knife. The little lady bounced up to the others, dark brown eyes, the image of her fathers, glittering menacingly. Her head turned to Gannetkit and she snorted with laughter, though not harshly, at him. "Gannetkit, your head is so far up your own butt im surprised your tail aint stuck up your nose" she said with a loud giggle, though hearing Mirrorkit challenge Gannetkit she fired up immediately, her mood quickly changing as she defended her brother. "Who do ya think you are, speaking to my brother like that? My grandaddy was leader of this Clan and Gannetkit could be too. You should show more respect. Anyways, my mummy is in charge cos your mummy is away so you had better be nice or I'll go tell her!" she squealed indignantly, her eyes narrowed. Carnationkit looked up as her father walked out, blinking her beseeching gaze at him. "Look, you wokeded my daddy up! Cos you was noisy!" she yelled, conviniently forgetting the fact that she was yelling too. She hushed up as her father looked at Gannetkit and the oters to be quiet and turned to look at Septemberkit and Jadekit, her sisters. "They was mean to Gannetkit. We shouldnt speak to them, no we should not" she said, nodding her head fiercely as she spoke. Dewstep The creamy brown and white femme exited the nursery swiftly after she heard the commotion outside. She looked in wonder at Carnationkit and Gannetkit, wondering which of their parents they had got their outspokeness from. But then again, Carnationkit did remind her a little of Tawnysky, when she was het up. She smiled softly as she thought of her sister, hoping her own litter would be as close to each other. She sat down with Jadekit and Septemberkit, the two that were most on her wavelength and shot an inquiering glance at Oleandergaze. She loved all of her childrenm deeply but hoped they hadnt been naughty. "Whats wrong kits? Have you all had a falling out?" she asked them, giving each of them a chance to speak. [/sub]

rhymekit Rhymekit looked around at Gannetkit. "Don't hiss at me," she mewed, looking upset. The grey and white tabby kitten pouted, her bottom lip trembling slightly. "I just wanted to see... And Daddy... And the berry..." Rhymekit looked at her paws. She was always getting told off. She wasn't akways sure why. She just wanted to see things. Rhymekit looked up in alarm at Mirrorkit's furious words. She let out a shrill wail at Gannetkit's outburst. "Don't call her silly!" she screeched. "She's not puny... And we're not a huliagang! I don't even know what a prince is!" Rhymekit continued to wail incoherently as the two kits fought furiously. A few words bubbled to the surface, including; "My Daddy!" "... a prince!" and "a hliaagahh!" Rhymekit looked up tearfully as Oleandergaze appeared. She pouted at him. "You never yell at him, it's not fair," she wailed. "I don't like you!" Carnationkit Carnationkit sighed irritably as she listened to the kits, rolling her dark brown eyes. "Gosh guys, fighting is like, so boring. Can we play instead?" she asked brightly, her yelling already forgotton as she looked from her siblings to Rhymekit and Mirrorkit, whom she didnt really want to be in a fight with. The bold little kitten wathced Rhymekit try to run away and hide and it gave her an idea. "Why dont we play hide and go seek? Us girls can hide and princey Gannetkit here can come and find us. Last person to be found is the winner!" she squealed, looking desperately at them all, the game already perfect in her opinion. She was desperate to win, she had to! Dewstep Dewstep sighed as she watched the scene unfold in front of her. She stood up as Rhymekit ran away, following her to the ferns and putting her head down in front of the kits. "Never you mind Gannetkit. He just likes to think hes in charge cos he bosses his sisters around. He might not apologise but im sure he will be sorry really" she said, not totally believing the last part herself but saying it for Rhymekits sake. "You can play with the others if you want to. Jadekit and Septemberkit are quieter than they other two, they will be nicer. You willing to give it a try?" she asked the kit, her eyes warm and voice soft. She didnt want them to argue and hated seeing her own family make otherds upset. It was something she really would need to teach them about. [/sub]

S E P T E M B E R K I T notes :: Aww Spadekit is a darlin'!
The "fight" scene was rather entertaining to Septemberkit. She had placed her little fluffy body near the edge of their little circle, watching with a glint of comic in her eyes, which was saying a lot for the young kitten. She was mature for her age, found girly she-kits like Mirrorkit, Rhymekit, and sometimes even Carnationkit annoying, didn't play games, and hid her emotions by acting tough. She was probably tougher than mister prince strutting his stuff over there. Inside, she wanted to be closer to Jadekit, shut Gannetkit and Rhymekit up, and become friends with-
"Oof!" Septemberkit grunted, feeling the weight of a smaller body but knocked into her. Ah yes, Spadekit. The only other kit in the nursery she could stand on than Jadekit. But she couldn't tell him that. She couldn't tell anyone anything. "Septemberkit," she muttered gruffly, standing slowly, realizing that he was about her size, even though he was a moon or so younger. "Watch it next time, Spadekit." Thats what she said, but on the inside, she wanted to see if he was okay, how he was feeling, and if they could be friends.
But no. She didn't think before she spoke and now she was just a big jerk to Spadekit. How could they ever be friends?

Septemberkit. It suited her... of course, the tiny kit knew nothing about what a 'september' was but still it seemed to fit. "Septembahkit. 'Tay, Septembahkit, I'll 'membah your name." the tomkit nodded, and looked over to his left... ah, was that what Mirrorkit looked like? Or was that Rhymekit? It was so hard to remember all this sight stuff! Once he was used to it, though, he was sure he'd get used to it. By the way his silver-furred sister was hopping about, he guessed that was Rhymekit - back in the nursery she had always been trying to jump about and kick him. Then he'd hear Otterspirit scold her or tell her to go to sleep. Thinking about sleep made him yawn, making it seem like he didn't care about Septemberkit's suggestion to be more careful. "Oh, and I pwomise I'll be more carefuwl." the chocolate-furred tomkit then stumbled in his sitting posture, but (in remembering the promise he just made) he fell in the other direction, this time falling on the ground beside Jadekit. He shook himself and sat back up, kneading the ground sheepishly.
All the shapes had become so much sharper since the first time he opened his eyes that now the world seemed more like a solid, level place rather than an endless space full of nonsense shapes and mismatching colors. It was now that he really looked at Septemberkit for the first time, and he found that she had... nice eyes. Bright eyes. But he stayed quiet about it, because for all he knew every cat had eyes like that. Somehow they seemed sheltered, though, as if she didn't want people to see what she was thinking. Why not?
And so, the mold of Spadekit's thoughtful personality began taking shape. [/blockquote]

Mirrorkit pouted and shook her head, "I don't wanna play anymore." The stubborn she-kit stood, twirling around, grabbing a mouthful of Rhymekit's tail, and disappearing into the medicine den to look for her father. She let go of Rhymekit, "Pa?" she called into the darkness, "Pa?"
The female sat down, looking at her pudgy paws and started to cry quietly. Why did Gannetkit have to be such a meanie? He wasn't a prince! He was just a stuck-up furball! And I'm not a hogliganian... Or whatever he called me! she thought furiously, unsheathing her claws and diggng them into the soft earth of the den. Her neckfur bristled angrily as she wiped the tears from her cheeks. "And I'm not little!" bellowed her angry, choked-up voice from the medicine den aimed at Prince Gannetkit.[/sub][/blockquote]

He hadn't been able to talk to Dragonflydance lately.

Carnationkit "Oh in the name of StarClan" the kitten said, rolling her eyes. Carnationkit looked at Mirrorkit, then at Gannetkit. She knew her brother wouldnt apologize. It just wasnt a thing that he did. Her mother was still talking to Rhymekit so she turned around, to Jadekit, Septemberkit and Spadekit. "Do you guys still want to play?" she asked her siblings and the tom, looking at her sisters pleadingly. She was so bored of all this fighting stuff. She knew she shouldnt go to Gannetkit, he would only yell at her. The brown and white she-cat danced around the others, fidgety. Being bored was.....well, boring! Dewstep At the sound of her mates voice she looked helplessly up at him. Being a mother was harder than she had expected. Was she really ready for all this? She brushed this thought away quickly, shaking her head fiercely. Of course she was ready, she had to believe that, for her children. Her grey eyes travelled back to Rhymekit, looking at her sadly. "I'm sorry for Gannetkits sake. I should go and see him now. I think Mirrorkit might need you though, she went that way" she said to the young one, signalling the medicine den with her tail. Touching her nose quickly to Oleandergazes she padded to the nursery. "Gannetkit?" she said quietly, taking a few steps inside. "Are you alright?" she asked her son, getting closer to him and drawing him close. She likced the tears of his cheeks and looked at him sadly. "Do you want to talk?" [/sub][/blockquote]

rhymekit Rhymekit sniffed angrily, though her rage was ebbing away to be replaced by hurt and guilt. It felt uncomfortable, as though she was choking on something. The grey and white tabby did not looked at Dewstep. She was still too irritated. Rhymekit suddenly rose and pushed past the blue-grey and white queen, her olive eyes shiny with emotion. Rhymekit padded up to Gannetkit, where Dewstep was comforting him. A hard stone plunged into her stomach. She wished Otterspirit was here. She would have stuck up for her. "I'm sorry, Gannetkit," she mewed in a rushed voice, before darting into the nursery. She sat there for a moment, ears flat, then muttered loudly under her breath. "But you should be sorry, too. I'm not silly, or little, or stupid, or hoogliang. And you're not a prince, you... Dumb-dumb!"
Rhymekit seethed to herself for a few moments, before slinking out of the nursery. She sat, watching Carnationkit sulkily. She had always wanted Gannetkit, and Jadekit, to like her. But they seemed better than her. She knew that they wouldn't want to be friends with her; she wasn't considered one of the royal family. Rhymekit stuck her chin in the air, determined not to care.

[/blockquote] The little prince turned his white muzzle to Dewstep, tears marring his beautiful face. "They were going to wake up Father, and they would not listen to me, and they were just--" He broke off in a fit of angry shaking. His whole frame trembled.
He slowly looked up at Rhymekit, hearing her voice. At her words, he bent back his ears and his eyes gleamed a hateful hue. "Go back outside and collect yourself before you dismiss me in such an untasteful manner, you wretched female." He stood up on all four paws, tears of fury matting his pelt as his pride was slapped at. He ran to his mother's stomach and hid his face in her pelt, ashamed and angry that someone--a girl of all things!--had called him a dumb-dumb.
"They are stupid! I hate girls!" The prince huffed and curled his tail around his paws. "They never listen to me!"

rhymekit At Gannetkit's words, Rhymekit burst into tears. The grey and white tabby wailed into her thin forepaws, her lime-coloured eyes brimming with salty tears. At first her sobs held no distinguishable words - but after a while they became audible. "I said I was sorry!" she wailed, her ears flat. "And you never apologize! And... And... It's not fair, I want to be a prince too!" Rhymekit didn't seem to notice or care how much noise she was making. She never cried quietly. In fact, she rarely did anything quietly. Rhymekit got to her paws as if to fleem but then just stood there, mouth open, wailing. Rhymekit didn't understand what she had done wrong. The kit wanted her father, or her mother, but she knew that was impossible. She squinted jealously at Gannetkit and his mother, her green eyes still spilling tears.

Gannetkit
Words match my deeds with brutal honesty Never forget these choices were made by me
[/blockquote] "You called me a dumb-dumb...and you can't be a prince!" Gannetkit screeched indignantly, his fur puffing out. He poked his head from out of his mother's pelt, his beautiful eyes watery with angry tears. "You're not a tom!" His lip trembled as if he was caught between bursting into tears or into an explosive anger.
"Why should I apologize to you?"
Under his breath, he muttered. "Apologies aren't for princes." He pouted some more and turned his back to the two she-cats.
