[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Ghostlystar Owlish cerulean gems shimmered in the dawn's breath as the twin orbs opened slowly. They faced forward for a moment, watching a robin take flight and arch downwards. A massive oak tree towered over the one of the fallen, and it was on the second branch that which Ghostlystar was perched upon. His beak faced forward, keeping it trained on the bird. He sensed Hauntingdream's presence and thoughts without being down there and looking her in the eye.
Harks faced forward irritably as the robin caught wind of his sister and took wing. Ghostlystar stiffened and then sighed heavily, turning and lunging onto another branch of the oak in order to descend the entire way. Light glinted in angular folds across the tom's black peltage, making him disappear in and out of the shadows caused by the tree's overbearing stance.
THUMP!
His footsteps crushed the grass beneath as the male landed and advanced upon Hauntingdream, but that single noise was exclusive to that single dying moment. The leader's cloaked eyes watched his sister with a slight glare hidden there, always present. He passed the other, one of the scars suffered from Shadestar sliding under Hauntingdream's nose. He held his tongue, the scathing growl about having lost his kill screaming to be released. However, it was his fault for not catching the pesky thing earlier. He flicked his stick-like tail in thought as he took a seat diagonal to the lady that served as only living kin.
He did not speak at that moment, instead choosing to inhale the scent of earth and springtime. Though springtime had no meaning here. It was springtime down where the mortals were, where he once was. His thoughts then drifted to Wrenstar, his equal in terms of terrene leadership, but he subconsciously felt doses of adrenaline pulse through his veins as he sat near Hauntingdream. As loyal as the she-cat was, it still didn't erase the fact that Ghostlystar and she weren't on good terms with each other.
Morning dappled the loam in front of his paws that held sickles of deadly silver, but it did not touch him. The shadows grasped him close, kept him in their grip. He was no wraith, however, and the blue of his eyes stood out from the black that threatened to snare him off on a chariot to Hades.
Ghostlystar paused and turned his sight over to Hauntingdream. "Ya came? What a surprise..." That voice shook the foundation of every temple of every idol. And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

hauntingdream.Hedgehogs still scrabbled in the leaves under roots, as a ghostly, smoky blue-grey figure padded through the trees in the dawn atmosphere. The sun was just rising through the treetops, at that stage that wherever you walked, the sun would blind you anyway. The grass glistened with flying drops of dew as petite paws made their way through it.
Hauntingdream made her way to where her brother was standing, sitting a good few feet away, and under no circumstances touching. They were blood, but that was all. "Yes, I came. Did you expect otherwise, when I gave my word that I would?" she asked, her voice low and with a venemous tone, reflex when she was around this certain cat. She clicked her claws restlessly against the forest floor, continually unsheathing, then sheathing. She admitted it; it did make her uncomfortable to be here with Ghostlystar, even if he was her leader. She would never disrespect him deliberately when around other Clan members, but when they were alone her childishness came out and she argued over petty things that he said.
The wispy pelted she-cat stopped fidgeting all of a sudden and turned her cool teal gaze on Ghostlystar, looking properly at him for the first time in moons. He really did have the same build as their father; strong, muscled shoulders and a noticeable profile. She narrowed her eyes at him and spoke again. "So. Why did you want to meet with me?" she asked, licking one paw delicately, faintly tasting honey. [/size]

Seven kings will ride on the wind up towards the mountains high
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Ghostlystar Ghostlystar snorted and flicked his tail. "Just sit down," he growled, not liking the poisonous tone of her voice. However, the leader knew how his sister acted during moments like this, just him and her. His bright-blue eyes rolled and turned to the side, staring over at the grass. He tolerated the little disrespectful acts, had done so since they were kits and he had vowed to become leader one day. He had always seen the pain in his grandmother's eyes when he had said that. He would have to talk to her later about that.
The male turned slowly towards his sister, affixing her with his haunting azure gaze. He felt like he was talking to his mother through her. He shook his head and replaced Spottedbark with Hauntingdream, opening his maw to speak.
"Because it seems like I have t'arrange things formally in order fer us t'even try t'talk at all. Everytime we do, it ends up wit' us yellin' and hollerin'." He sighed slightly and bent his ears back. "Gran wants us t'try again. She's been buggin' me about it."
Lunarmyth had pulled him aside the day before yesterday and demanded that he settle things with Hauntingdream. He supposed that was the issue. He didn't even remember why they were mad at each other.
"Why th'hell ya pissed off at me anyway?" he wanted to know, tilting his head. It would be typical of his sister to start rattling off a list of things that included nonsense like 'you kicked me in the womb'.
"I dun even remember why ya dun like me. I'm only cold wit'cha 'cause ya give m'th'Evil Eye whenever ya look at me." And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

[['You kicked me in the womb' xDD I just find that funny]] [/size] hauntingdream.Hauntingdream narrowed her eyes further as Ghostlystar ordered her to sit down. This made her stay on her paws just a minute longer than she would have, before lowering to the forest floor in a sitting position.
She angled her grey-blue ears towards her brother, catching his words and taking them in without changing the indifferent expression on her face. She sighed quietly when Lunarmyth was mentioned and she turned her head slightly, barely looking at her brother. When he asked her exactly why she was pissed at him, she thought hard for one clear answer. The thing was, there wasn't one.
Hauntingdream looked, for the first time, deep into Ghostlystar's eyes, past the reflex glare, and found nothing but wondering in his gaze. She took a deep breath. "I guess... I guess there isn't one simple answer to that. It's just happened, over the years." she said, looking down at her paws. "Like when Shadowcrawl died, you became more frosty towards me, and my reflex was to just act the same way, like we did as kits and I always wanted to copy you." she said, almost smiling as she remembered how she would trail after him, wanting to be just like him.
Then she remembered after he had been made deputy, how everything changed for him, he was instantly more liked and then he became leader, and got a mate, and kits. "After you became leader, you were so much more liked, but by then we'd got into the habit of... this." she said, staring at him with her dark teal gaze. [/size]

Seven kings will ride on the wind up towards the mountains high
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Ghostlystar A light hiss escaped him as he watched her defy him for a brief moment before sitting down. He stared at the ground befores speaking and when he had done so, he listened wordlessly to his sister's speech. Ghostlystar lifted his head, blinking in surprise when he saw her watching him. The tom's brows lifted as he listened and then knitted back together.
"I ignored ya because ya kept gettin' snippy whenever ya'd be near Dad and I'd be tellin' him about how much I'd learned from Shadowcrawl, tellin' me that I wasn't nothin'. Well then that got us fightin' and wrasslin' around so much that Dad had t'break us apart. I think after that, I just ignored ya 'cause I didn't feel like fightin' wit'ya."
He shivered for that moment. "It was like...ya wanted me t'fail or somethin', just so ya could prove that ya had done somethin' I did. Then ya kept givin' me and Stormfeather th'Eye but ya got y'ar own mate." He began gesturing with his paws.
"Ya were confusin' me, Hauntin'dream. It was just like 'does she want me t'be there like a brother's supposed t'be or does she want me t'leave?' I think it was just a big misunderstandin'..." He trailed off, looking off into the sunrise and watching the banner heave upward.[/color] And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

hauntingdream.Hauntingdream felt a lump rise in her throat as she thought of Wrenstar. "Yes, I got a mate of my own. But then he was taken from me, like everything else! It's like StarClan have something against me!" she said, her voice raspy and cracking. "You were always the favourite. You were always the best at training, learning something new, then when I'd learn it, you'd have something else to show off about!" Hauntingdream sighed, old memories popping up and making her remember things she hadn't in a while.
She turned to look at him again as he said the last part, a look of genuine surprise on her face. "I always thought you wanted me to leave you alone, that you'd rather have it this way. I thought you were happier with your Clan as your siblings, instead of me, and with Stormfeather." she said, her voice lowering. "I thought you didn't want to know me anymore." she said finally, staring at her paws like they were the most interesting thing in the world. [/size]

Seven kings will ride on the wind up towards the mountains high
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Ghostlystar Ghostlystar felt as if he had been slapped in the face. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to will himself out of the pain that was barraging him. He shuddered and finally lifted up his head to face his sister.
"I'm sorry..."
The voice that uttered those words was hoarse and cracked, almost like a dropped rock. Ghostlystar's frame shivered as all the stress and the burdens began to drag down upon the leader and topple him. He'd been an ace at holding everything in but now it was all crumbling down in this breaking point. "I'm so sorrying, Hauntin'dream." He lifted his head, his electric-blue eyes affixing themselves upon his sister.
"Please forgive me... I want this t'end. I'm tired o'bein' angry at ya." And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

hauntingdream.[/colour] Hauntingdream looked up and sighed gently. "So am I. I'm sorry for always bringing you down about everything you've achieved because I don't have the guts to do it." she said, looking at him with apology in her teal eyes.
"It can't have been easy for you, becoming leader and then having all those responsibilities. Seems like you have the knack of it now, though." she said, smiling ruefully at him, and thinking of all the leader duties he had to perform. "And when Mysterycurse died, that must have been hard, staying strong." as she talked, she noticed the sun had risen high overhead, and was casting long morning shadows over the land. The shadows of herself and Ghostlystar mingled together, and Hauntingdream noticed something. "We've been through a lot together, you and me. We've never been together in the sake of having each other's backs, but we've still been through the same stuff." she said, a half smile playing on her lips. [/size]

Seven kings will ride on the wind up towards the mountains high
[/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote] Ghostlystar A slow smile cracked through Ghostlystar's expression of sorrow, and he nodded gently. His smile grew as he heard her speak. "Y'ar right," he said gently. He quickly stood up straight and nodded his head to her, inhaling deeply. The scent of summer and prey wafted past his nose. He turned his smile to the sky as he noticed that much time had passed.
He came to his paws and flicked his tail. "Should we hunt together before I go back t'camp? I have t'make an announcement about th'upcomin' Gatherin'," the black male said quietly. And the only sound that will break the air is the warrior's bitter cry

hauntingdream.Hauntingdream nodded, standing up and stretching her back legs. "Yeah, lets hunt." she said, padding forward and in the direction of Ghostlystar, where they padded together deeper into the forest, smoky blue-grey pelt brushing the black one as they scented the air for prey. [/size]
