~Mountainwind~
The sky was consumed in dark, forbidding clouds, yet not a drop fell from the sky. The wind tasted of rain yet it all seemed to stand still as a pair of gray-green eyes peered out over the grass. A large gray/brown mottled tom laid next to a fallen tree which looked like it had almost shriveled up into a mere log. Mountainwind's fur bristled at the thought of getting wet, but then he would have an excuse for coming back to camp with out any prey. He had lied when he said he was going to go hunting. He really only wanted to come out and tear at his favorite log like he had done since finding it here as an apprentice, lying between two bushes which had been stuck by lightning and revealed the log. Ever since then he would lay on or next to it in times of thought.
Just like he was now. His mind was racing with thoughts as he tried to command them all to still. It was probably known to all that he was upset about not being made Deputy of the Clan and he kept trying to tell himself that Twistedscissor would probably do a better job then he could ever do yet it... yet his heart kept saying that he should have been chosen. "No!" He yowled out loud as lightning tore through the sky as if he commanded it. "Twistedscissor's was chosen over me, and for that I have to trust my leader to know that it was the right desicion!" The last few words came out in a whisper as he slunk inside of the log, just in time it seemed as the rain started to pour down.

Stripedfeather
Stripedfeather was hunting when she heard a yowl. Immediately, she stopped her pursuit and and followed the noise. It soon brought her to a hollow log. She peered inside and noticed a cat. Mountainwind? What are you doing in there? She asked him. Then she realized. It was raining. But she didn't care. She liked the rain. She looked inside the log again. Want to talk to me about what's on your mind? she asked him.

Hello. Palegust
Palegust was leaving the camp. He had to escape Hailthunder. Wow, Hailthunder is selfobsessed. He padded away from the camp slowly. He thought of his siblings. I wonder where Mountainwind is. I feel like bugging him. he kept walking, stopping now and then to see if any prey was out. The sky was looking gloomy. Palegust looked up to stare at it. Just as he stopped and looked up at it, the rain started. It was just as Mountainwind had cried out. Palegust looked back down and shook his head. He kept walking on, grumbling to himself. 'Of course, now I won't be able to catch any prey at all.'
Palegust stopped near an old log. A scent caught him by surprise. Mountainwind? Excellent. He snickered to himself. Out loud, he mewed, 'Well, if it isn't the leader's kittypet himself!' He knew that Stripedfeather was there, but he didn't care. Stripedfeather wasn't part of his family. It was none of her business.
Palegust sat down to wait for Mountainwind to come out of the log.

~Mountainwind~
"Not really..." The Warrior replied, not turning to look at Stripedfeather, though he knew from her scent that it was her. Plus she ones one of the only cats who loved the rain. He hated being caught in it because of his heavy fur, it took forever to dry. Another scent hit the roof of his mouth like a brick. Palegust. Just when things couldn't get any worse, it did. Leader's kittypet. He hated that taunt and if it wasn't for the rain he might of sliced his ears off right there. Instead her replied, "Go away, Palegust!"

Stripedfeather
Angry, Stripedfeather turned and glared at Palegust. Can you ever just shut up?!? she spat at him. All you do is insult people. You think you're sooo cool, and you can make anyone feel bad about what you say, but all you're proving is that you're a lowlife! So go away and leave Mountainwind and every other cat alone!! She hissed at him. She was finally fed up with this tom. He had made so many cats miserable, and he needed to be taken down a tree branch or two.

ooc;; Haha tree branch... that's funny, Fireh!

Harsh words mean nothing to the cold-hearted. Palegust
Palegust snorted at his brother. 'How many times have you actually said that and it worked, Kittypet?' He taunted. He heard Stripedfeather. 'Hahaha. I'm only gonna leave if I feel like it. No one tells me what to do. You're wasting your time with this scrap of crowfood. He's a whiner. He doesn't care about anyone's feelings. He'll hurt anyone to get what he wants. Isn't that true, Mountainwind?' He looked to his brother with pure hatred. His words held a deeper meaning than just taunting. He was referring to when Mountainwind virtually pushed Palegust out of his life. Hatred burned in the tom's eyes as these memories came back. He stood his ground, waiting for the obvious retor from Stripedfeather.

That I was being such a fool That I didn't deserve you dont wanna fall asleep cause I dont know if ill get up & I dont wanna cause a scene but im dyin without your love begging to hear your voice tell me you love me too cause I'd rather just be alone if I know that I cant have you
Stripedfeather had had enough. She stepped forward and butted Palegust with her head. I said, leave him alone. She snarled. The tom had no respect for any cat but himself, and he needed to be shown that he wasn't the only cat in the universe. You know what, Palegust? You need to shut up. Forget about the pst, it's behind you now. Keep your eyes on the present. See your brother for who he is now. Stop dwelling in the time when he thrusted you out of his life. Jeez! It's not healthy! Move on! She told him firmly.

That was it, the last straw, the mottled gray and brown tom had it, he launched himself at his brother, claws unsheathed, ready to claw the smug look off his brothers maw. He launched past Stripedfeather, strait into Palegust. Mountainwind was in no mood to be taunted.

Gimme a reason Gimme a reason I'll claw your eyes out Just give me a reason. Palegust
Palegust just snorted at Stripedfeather. 'You have no idea what it's like. You probably have a perfeact family. Why don't you just go back to camp and let me deal with my brother.' He didn't care what the femme thought. He was here about his brother. He watched as his brother came barreling at him. Finally, what I've been waiting for! He thought to himself. He underestimated Mountainwind's strength as he landed on him. He lashed out with his claws, still taunting him under his breath. 'Don't do anything you'll regret, Stormstar won't like that.' He snarled at his brother. All of the anger from when he was younger came out of him. He tried to claw Mountainwin's pelt. [/blockquote]

Stripedfeather
You left wihout a single word. Not even sorry! It might of hurt worse to hear you say I'm leaving goodbye! But your smile still makes my heart sing Another sad song Can't forget it, won't regret it Cause I'm still in love with you.
Stripedfeather gasped. She was shaking with anger. The young she=cat threw herself into the fray and pulled the brothers apart. Have you forgotten everything, mouse-brains? She screeched, panting. You're brothers!! Palegust, put your past behind you! He's a warrior now! She turned to Mountainwind. And as for you, don't let him irritate you lke that! That's what he wants! She shook her head. You're clanmates for one, and it's against the warrior code for clan mates to fight. You're lucky I don't go to Stormstar about this! She flashed glances at the two toms then shook her head. It's like talking to a mouse. She snarled.

Ooc:// Good XD ~Mountainwind~
Mountainwind yowled as claws raked down his side and tried to lash out again when he felt himself being pulled back. He landed in on his back and pulled himself up as Stripedfeather started yowling at them. He bit back a bitter retort and sat down to lick the claw marks on his side, even though the rain was helping with it.

Rebels seem to get it the worst. No one understands their side. No one sympathizes.
Palegust
Palegust wanted to tear at Mountainwind. He wanted Mountainwind to feel the pain. He wanted the Tom to feel what he had put on him. Palegust tried to slash Mountainwind again, but Stripedfeather stopped him. He stood there, shaking with fury. This time, it was directed at Stripedfeather. 'Of course! You take his side! He started this! Why don't you go to Stormstar? Oh yeah, because everyone will automatically assume it was me who started the fight! No, perfect little Mountainwind would never start a fight! Never!' He spat the words out. He knew that Mountainwind would hate it if his perfect little record about being good was tainted. I should just go to Stormstar. That would be worth it to see Mountainwind crash and burn. He glared at Stripedfeather again. 'You're not my mother. Don't expect me to follow your orders. I don't listen to Mountainwind sympathizers. By the way, as far as I'm concerned, he's no brother of mine.' He spat those words out with a certain finality about it. It made him feel better. Normally, any cat would be feeling guilty and want to apologize right away about this, but not Palegust. Oh, not Palegust. He wanted Mountainwind to feel the wrath of someone being left behind, as if they aren't welcome. Palegust faced Mountainwind again and stood on his toes, fur bristling, in case of another attack.

~Mountainwind~ The Warrior flinched as Palegust called him a goody-to-shoes and felt the sorrow as his own brother practically disowned him. He looked up at the Warrior who was caught in between their parents looks, and in truth hated that their friendship had ended immediately after they left kithood. Horror struck his eyes at the thought of this all being his fault. His parents death, his brother hating him, everything always going wrong for him. It was too much for him to take, without another word he flung himself down the hill, away from Stripedfeather, away from Palegust, away from it all.
Ooc:// And Mountainwind exits the scene. Does Stripedfeather have a mate? She sounds like she might match Mountainwind...[/sub]

Stripedfeather
Everyone knows it's meant to be, Falling in love, Just you and me.
Stripedfeather hissed at Palegust. You are a terrible cat. You deserve to die. She spat at him. As she spat, a flash of lightning lit up the sky and thunder rumbled after it. She turned and chased Mountainwind down the hill. As she caught up to him, she meowed in a loud voice of the thrashing winds and continuous thunder, Mind explaining all this to me?
She stared at him, taking his dejected frame all in. He was obviously distressed. As angry as she was, she couldn't help but feel pity for the tom. All his life, his brother had hated him. Now he seemed to have no one.

Palegust
Palegust snorted at Stripedfeather. 'I don't care what you think.' He meowed. As she raced away, he cried over the thunder, 'You don't understand! You would get it if you knew!' Palegust seethed. He watched as the she-cat ran away. He muttered inaudibly to himself about Mountainwind. He shivered. The rain was starting to make him cold. Palegust padded slowly back to camp. He stopped and watched another fork of lightning go across the sky. He started to walk again and heard a crack. A tree was struck by lightning. Palegust let out a terrifying shriek as the tree fell. Palegust tried to get out of the way, but he was too slow. The tree fell right in front of his nose. The branches caught him and slmmed him to the ground. Palegust scrabbled at the branches, trying to free himself. It was worthless. The branches kept him pinned there. He let out a wail, trying to call for help. The thunder was loud, so it would be a miracle if anyone could hear him. Palegust started to feel weaker. He was lying in a dip in the ground. It was quickly filling up with water. Palegust cried out again, trying to get any attention. Finally, he tried one last thing, 'Mountainwind!' He knew it would be worthless. Mountainwind was too far away to hear him. Palegust gave up and lay there, waiting for the darkness to overwhelm him.
If a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a noise?

f r e e s p i r i t.
Thumpthump. Freespirit could only hear her footsteps as she pounded over the wet peat. All the while, Freespirit was acutely aware of her surroundings. She could hear her heart beating loudly, rattling her ribcage. She wasn't supposed to be here, so why was she?
The young warrior wasn't so sure herself. She was tired of wandering the same old territory when she had free time from her duties. Maybe she could go into another territory. And, without much thought, she had crossed the border into Cloudclan territory. Lucky for her, the patrol had already gone by a while ago, so she had no trouble. She decided to not go too deep into the territory, otherwise she had more of a chance to get discovered. She clung to the inside of the border, looking for a cool place to explore.
Finally, she happened upon a bunch of hills. She stood quietly, and she could hear the scrabling of prey all around her. She licked her lips, but decided that catching prey on Cloudclan territory went too far. She walked around the base of some of the hills, when something caught her eye. Lightning had felled a tree, and underneath it...a cat! Freespirit opened her eyes wide. She dashed over to the the cat. She couldn't tell if he was out cold or not. She poked him in the ribs. Hello? Are you awake? [/blockquote]

Palegust Palegust was just barely concious. He was aware of a stabbing pain in his ribs. He thought it was another branch, but then he heard the voice. He tried to lift his head up, but it was almost impossible. All of his energy was concentrating on keeping him alive... and it was draining. He tried to answer, but it was hard. All that came out was, 'Ye..s' in a slurred voice. The pain was making him dizzy. He was starting to feel sick. The water wasn't helping, either. He tried to shift himself, but it made him cry out in pain. Something was broken, he was sure. He didn't know how much longer he would last. Yet, Starclan sent a warrior to save him. He couldn't die now, not after having someone find him. [/sup]

f r e e s p i r i t.
Freespirit cursed under her breath. Today, of all days, she had to go on Cloudclan territory and find someone half-dead. What was she supposed to do? She couldn't leave him, he could die, and then it'd be all her fault. No, she had to take him back to his camp. Panic flashed through her. She could get in so much trouble! But better she be in trouble than have someone die.
The cat's energy was draining, she could tell. How'd you get into this situation? She said, but to herself mostly. She would have to move the tree first. She bent her head and tried pushing with the back of her neck. It barely budged. Oh no. She couldn't do this!
She could only think of one thing she could do. She began to wail loudly. Hopefully she would catch someone's attention. Help! HELP! She paused to pat the tom on the head. You're gonna be okay. Just...don't go unconsisious. She then continued to call out. HELP! [/blockquote]

Palegust
Palegust blinked up at the she-cat. 'The camp... is close. Run and ask for help. Tell them you heard me calling...' He managed to get out. He started to feel tired. It would be nice to just curl up and fall asleep right now. He thought to himself, then he realized the danger. If I fall asleep, I amy never wake up again! He fought to stay awake. He thought of his family. Much as he hated his brother, he knew he would miss him if he died. He tried one more time, to call over the thunder. 'Mountainwind!' He knew that it was no use. He was too far away. Palegust started to give up. Ha knew that he wouldn't make it if he was here much longer. He started to sink down in the water that was piling up in the ditch.

Freespirit looked at him anxiously. If you're sure... Gulping, she turned to the direction of Cloudclan, and began running. She was silent at first, but realized that there might be cats outside of camp that could help the tom faster. Help! Help! Her legs flew as she left the hills and got closer to camp. Her heart was pumping faster. She shouldn't be here! But she had to help. Help! Can anyone hear me? Somebody needs help! She then wished she knew the tom's name... [/blockquote]

~Mountainwind~ "Palegust!" A yowl called as Mountainwind came leaping over another fallen tree. It was by pure luck that he heard his brothers cries. He had been walking back towards camp when Stripedfeather caught up to him to find out what was wrong. The only thing he was able to tell her was that everything was his fault. He was about to say more when his brothers yowl pierced the air. Now he was pulling some branches to clear the way so he could fully see his brother, pinned by the branches. He hoped that Stripedfeather had followed him, because he was going to need some help, and he found what was keeping his brother down. A large tree branch was pinning his leg at a bad angle. He knew that he would be able to lift it up, but then he would need someone to drag his brother out. He grabbed the branch between his teeth and pulled as hard as he could, hoping it would be enough. 'I'm NOT going to lose you to, Palegust.'

Palegust let out a yowl of pain as some weight was lifted off. He cried out loudly. He was blinded by pain. He didn't realize who was helping him, so he kept trying to call out Mountainwind's name. He thought that the she-cat came back and found some way to free him. He managed to glimpse behind him. Mountainwind had heard him! 'Mountainwind!' He called out. He couldn't believe it. After all he'd done to his brother, he still came to the rescue. [/blockquote]

Apollo
I learned the hard way That they all say the things you wanna hear And my heavy heart sinks deep down under you And your twisted words, Your help just hurts You're not what I thought you were Ah, yes, this was quite relaxing. A little evening stroll would do her much good. It helped her to clear her mind of her old loving family, and her loneliness. It helped her to enjoy life for what she did have. Of course, it had been relaxing until the storm hit. The falling trees and startling lightning was enough to ruin her fine little walk. Her coat was drenched and sagging down, her tail dragging in the filthy mud. She was about to head home when she heard a shrill cry. Not far off, she could see a tom trapped under a fallen tree. Apollo dashed off to her little den, bundling up poppy seeds, goldenrod, cobwebs, comfrey, and horsetail. She was quick to arrive back at the scene of the injury, laying her bundle of herbs in a gnarled tree root so they wouldn't blow away. "I'm here to help you, sir," she mewed, just audible over the crackling of thunder. She looked up at the other cats. Oh, my, she felt so out of place. But this was no time to let in shyness. "How will we get him out...?" she mewed quietly, feeling quite embarrassed.[/blockquote]

Palegust
Palegust looked up at the newcomer. He struggles again to get up, but this time he didn't have any energy to move his paws at all. He looked up at the femme, mouthing the words, 'Help me.' He looked back at his brother, blinking slowly. His breath came out in short gasps. He stared up at his broether, pleading for help.
Palegust didn't know what was making all his energy disappear. he didn't realize that a big branch was trapping him, or that with it on him that he was using all of his strength to not let it crush him.

Apollo
I learned the hard way That they all say the things you wanna hear And my heavy heart sinks deep down under you And your twisted words, Your help just hurts You're not what I thought you were Biting her lip, Apollo nodded. Her green optics flicked back and forth as she imagined how to get him out. She'd heard the squirrel-like tom mention one cat lifting up the branches while another cat dragged him out. But Apollo couldn't do either of those. Born into the life of a kittypet, he was too weak. She was a frail little cripple, barely clinging on a thread of hope for someone to accept her, for some cat to love her, dangling over the pit of giving up. She couldn't do anything. She was useless.[/blockquote]

No we're not gonna work this out tonight No we're not gonna wait this out So i'll give a kiss and say goodbye Cause we're not gonna work this out tonight
Stripedfeather gasped as she watched the tree fall. She watched Mountainwind run, and followed him. Palegust! The hilly area was lit up by another flash of lightning, and a huge crash of thunder followed it. Though she was freaked out by the thunder, she still ran, until she reached the tree. We've got to get him out! She screeched over the thunder.
The storm still hovered over them, and Stripedfeather knew it wasn't leaving soon. She knew the danger they were in, because of the tornadoes that have been hitting flattened areas. And she knew that's where they were. She threw herself at the branch and tugged at it with her teeth. Unh. It's coming loose! She finally pulled the massive branch off the tom. She dropped the branch away from Palegust and sat down, tired. All of that was adrenaline, making her help the tom she hated.
Come on! She raised her voice over the storm. We've got to get him back to camp! She pulled him out from the spot where he was and dropped him on her back, and sprinted home. Follow me! She howled, before racing away.

~Mountainwind~ Mountainwind for a moment thought he really was going to lose Palegust, just like he lost his parents. Suddenly Stripedfeather was there, helping to pull the branch when it suddenly came free. Mountainwind was pushed off balance, but when he got up, the she-cat already had his brother on her back. The tom looked at Apollo and silently thanked the cat just for being there, even though she had done nothing. It was just comforting to know that there were some loners who would offer a paw in times of need. He raced after Stripedfeather and hoped his brother would be alright.
