cherrysmoke The smell of death was beginning to be covered in the SerenityClan camp. The fresher smell of prey and new moss had covered it. But the gloomy stench still lingered, beneath it. Cherrysmoke sat outside the warriors' den, her blue-green eyes gloomy. The red-brown she-cat was thinking about Moonkit. She wondered where her beautiful kit was. Was he alive, who was he with.. Was he injured? Could he hunt for himself? Did he still think about her, and his sisters? Did he even care that she was here, waiting, her heart secretly breaking in two? What if he never came home? What would she do then? Wait, and wait, and wait, in vain? Until she died?
Cherrysmoke let out a gloomy sigh, her ears flattened. She had heeded Runningcloud's words: Moonkit is alive. But it wasn't enough. She needed to see him, to know he was there, to hold him and lick him like he was a kit... He was a kit in her mind. "Oh, Moonkit, my sweet boy," she whispered, blue-green eyes on the sky. "Where are you?"

blizzardhawk Blizzardhawk mewed softly as he dropped a mouse infront of the she-cat. His golden-yellow eyes looking kindly at the red-brown she-cat. "How are you, this afternoon?" He asked in his gentle voice. [/ul]

cherrysmoke Cherrysmoke did not notice Blizzardhawk and Elkpaw enter the camp, her head still rested on her paws. She was still thinking about Moonkit. Crescentgaze would have loved his son, if he had still been alive. They were so alike, brave, impulsive, serious... The red-brown she-cat was jerked out of her dreams by the warm smell of mouse and the kind voice of Bluzzardhawk. She blinked at him for a moment, confused, then smiled vaguely. "Thanks, Blizzardhawk," she mewed gratefully.
"I..." She thought about lying to her friend. But there wasn't really that much point. He would most likely be able to tell. "I was just thinking about Moonkit again." Cherrysmoke ducked her head and took a bite of the mouse Blizzardhawk had brought her, hiding her eyes.

blizzardhawk He mewed with a gentle voice. "Runningcloud said he was still with us. StarClan has yet to take your son with you" Blizzardhawk mewed, a softer smile on his face. His tail came back to his side, resting against his white pelt. "Moonkit is coming back to you. He'll come back soon. I can feel it" He mewed, remembering when the kit had been around, then suddenly disappeared. [/ul]

cherrysmoke Cherrysmoke raised her obediently as Blizzardhawk's tail touched her chin. Her blue-green eyes were filled with sadness. She listened quietly to his words. They didn't do much in the way of comforting her. She knew Moonkit was alive, but... "I had a dream, a horrible dream," she mewed. "He was there, my Moonkit, in reach. I called out, but he turned away and walked to another cat. It was too shadowy to see who it was. But he didn't even look at me. When I tried to follow him, I woke up." Cherrysmoke threw Blizzardhawk a desperately miserable look. "What if he's replaced me, Blizzardhawk?" her voice was little more than tortured whisper.
The thought was terrible. She had counted on him coming home, on being able to make up for all those moons with him that she had missed. But that shadowy cat, that stranger, was ruining everything. That cat was stealing away her son, her beloved kit, who she hadn't seen for nearly four seasons.

blizzardhawk He mewed, repeating the words he had heard from his mother once before she died. He had a feeling, deep down, that even his half-sister held some sort of love for him. He did. Even though they hated him, he still had love enough. Maybe to much love for more then two cats. He turned his eyes towards Cherrysmoke, his heart thumped against his chest. Why was that? Why would his heart react like that when he looked at his friend? [/ul]

cherrysmoke Despite herself, Cherrysmoke leant against Blizzardhawk. He felt different to Crescentgaze. Her former mate had been taller than her, his fur sleek and shiny. Blizzardhawk was wider, more rangy, and his fur was thick, soft and warm. The red-brown she-cat shut her eyes and took a deep breath. She tried to put Moonkit out of her mind. Blizzardhawk was probably right. She was just worrying about nothing. She had got over the last three seasons - she'd just have to get through it all until Moonkit got home.
"I'm sorry, Blizzardhawk," she mewed honestly. "Hark at me, rambling on about Moonkit, when you've just lost your best friend." Cherrysmoke did not move from his side. She didn't feel that she should have to.

blizzardhawk He didn't say it vocally. But he could feel it, vibrating off him as he purred. "It's alright, Cherrysmoke. I've talked too much about Peanutdrift. He'll always be with me. I can feel it. He mewed, shrugging. "And I don't mind listening to your problems." [/ul]

cherrysmoke Cherrysmoke was comforted by Blizzardhawk's presence. She sighed at his words. She didn't like to go on about herself, but she couldn't help it. She missed Moonkit so much. She just... Just needed somebody to comfort her. Her daughters had been too young when he had first disappeared. And now they had their own lives to lead. They didn't have time for their mother anymore, and Cherrysmoke could understand that. She would have been exactly the same.
"Thanks, Blizzardhawk," she murmured. "I know it's selfish, but you're the only one who seems to be here for me." The red-brown she-cat shut her eyes and let the white tom's scent reel around her. She barely knew him, but he felt almost as precious to her as Crescentgaze...

blizzardhawk He mewed with a goofy grin as he looked over at his friend, giving her ear a lick. "Honest to StarClan truth, I am not the only cat that would listen to you."[/ul]

cherrysmoke Cherrysmoke blinked at Blizzardhawk gratefully, though she still did not believe his words. The reddish-brown she-cat stood up suddenly, waving her tail from side to side. She glanced at the camp entrance. "We shouldn't just hang around camp all day," she mewed. "We may as well go hunting, or patrolling, or something... The clan needs all the help it can get at the moment." Cherrysmoke gestured to the camp entrance with her short tail. She partly wanted to help SerenutyClan, true to her word, but also the thought of a long walk with her friend cheered her up immensely.
The she-cat sighed as she thought of Moonkit, but she forced her thoughts to stay optimistic. He would return, she knew it. Her dream had been nothing but a dream. The brave, loyal kit she had known would never leave her for another cat.
