Halfpaw padded out of the apprentices den and sat down, starting to groom himself. He groomed his bald ears, then placed his nearly hairless paws back on the ground. He stared around at the camp with his one, large brown eye. He felt so lonely. Again. Like he often did. He usually found himself feeling this way at least once a day. He sighed, laying down with his head on his paws. Would it always be this way?

Nightmoon stepped through the entrance, carrying a mouse in his jaws. The russet colored tom had been so alone as of late, he didn't know exactly what to do with himself. All he did was patrols and hunting, forcing it upon himself to keep his mind occupied on something other then his dead family and mentor. The tom had been struggling with everything in his life since birth, having been an ill omen because his fur color had been jet black that night. Of course, the color bloomed out eventually, and Nightmoon was a handsome cat inevitably. Dropping the prey on the pile, he turned and headed back for the entrance, only to stop as he saw Halfpaw come from the apprentice's den.
The apprentice also had it difficult, being a mutated feline of birth. The warrior paused in his strid, one paw up in the air before altering his path and going over to the white and bald tom.
"Good morning Halfpaw," Nightmoon mewed out in a rough tone. The cat was a hard one to understand, and always seemed to be under someone's fur. This was his way of just trying to make friends. "How are you this morning?"

Halfpaw looked up, slightly shocked that someone was speaking to him. "Hello Nightmoon." He mewed politely. "I'm ok thankyou. What about you?" He looked up at the tom, waiting for a reply. (OOC: Sorry for the short post, I'm not so great at this lol)

Nightmoon purred as the little one-eyed apprentice replied to him. Stormstar had done a good thing to give this little tom a chance to prove himself to the Clan. The warrior paused a moment to sit, relaxing for a few moments to talk to the bald tom.
"I guess I'm doing a little bit better. Just went out with the morning hunting patrol. Brought back some meals, but I was going to head back out for the rest of my catch. I figured I stop and check out how you were doing."

Halfpaw listened intently, nodding and smiling. "Well, thankyou." he said purring, it meant a lot that Nightmoon had stopped to talk to him. "I wish I could go on a patrol. I'd feel more useful that way. Right now I just play with the kits. Well...the ones who aren't afraid of me, anyway." He mewed.

Nightmoon looked at him a weird way at that point. Had Stormstar made Halfpaw and apprentice and not given him a mentor? The warrior's tail flipped from side to side in a little bit of an irritated way, but the warrior said nothing immediately. That was odd for a leader to do such a thing, but he also wondered what warrior would take Halfpaw to be his apprentice.
"You haven't been on patrol yet? You aren't a kit anymore, you know that."

Halfpaw nodded, sighing. "I know that, but does everyone else? I'll probably still be treated like a kit when I'm a warrior." He paused. "That's if they let me be a warrior." he said bluntly.

Nightmoon looked at him like he was talking blasphemy. The tom cat was somewhat enraged by these words that anyone would look at a perfectly capable - or almost capable - apprentice ready to learn from a capable warrior. Nightmoon turned and licked his shoulder, trying to cover his raging nerves.
"That won't happen Halfpaw. Besides, even if they don't respect you as an apprentice yet, you have a chance to show them. Maybe you can show me what you know about fighting right here? Bring it on..."

Halfpaw blinked his large eye up at Nightmoon. "...Now?" He mewed, slightly shocked. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to try and fight the warrior. He wasn't sure if he was any good. (OOC: This is my best post ever lol)

((OOC;; Why not try describing the world around you and such? You're really good grammatically, but try just plain describing to increase length. -cough- I don't mean to sound rude, I just want to help.))
Nightmoon got up and stepped back. Whomever was watching could watch. Sure, they weren't in the training area, but if Halfpaw's mentor was going to neglect the apprentice like this, then Nightmoon was going to have to step in and teach the apprentice on his own time in fullview of every clan member. It didn't matter to him, they cared not for the two loneliest CloudClan members.
"Yes now. Bring it on my friend, bring it on."

(OOC: Yeah I should try that, Shade keeps nagging me lol she can though cuz she's my sister XD)
Halfpaw watched as Nightmoon stood up. At the warrior's words, the little apprentice made a split-second decision. He would try. After all, what did a rejected apprentice like himself have to lose? He bent his legs slightly, the muscles tense and ready for the fight. Time seemed to stand still for Halfpaw at that moment. The whole camp seemed to freeze. Every cat stopped, frozen in whatever position they had previously been in. Halfpaw breathed out slowly, then leapt to the side of Nightmoon, before throwing himself at the warrior.

((OOC;; Well then, you can call me your personal tutor for the thing. I've roleplayed for 3 years, and I'll pass everything I know to you.))
Nightmoon knew the little apprentice had made the right decision. The russet tom wasn't about to let the apprentice off easy because he was deformed either. If anything, he was going to use ever cheap shot he had so that he could teach the smaller bald cat exactly what another warrior might use against him. Then, it kicked off like a bird taking flight and feeling from the open jaws of a skilled she-cat.
At first, he tensed up and leapt to his side. Keeping one paw connected with the ground, Nightmoon threw his weight around to face the little apprentice. Cats had stopped all around them to watch, as he had hoped. Lonely was no longer a word for them. They were the center of attention. Halfpaw leapt for him, and Nightmoon yowled as he dashed under the apprentice, rolling over to attempt to connect his paw with his belly. Of course, his claws were sheathed. He wasn't that mean.

(Ok Lol, 'he wasn't that mean' XD) Halfpaw mewed in shock as Nightmoon dashed under him, and felt the warriors paw collide with his tummy. He landed, then leapt again, looking like he was going to land on the warrior's back, but landed a little in front of him and dashed to the side, before attempting to hit into the tom with his shoulder. He knew other cats really had stopped this time; he knew they were watching the fight. he felt his cheeks burn, but he carried on. He had to, for the little pride he still had.

Nightmoon rolled himself back up just as Halfpaw was leaping back up at him. He arched his back and prepared, but the apprentice caught him off guard by landing in front of him. The russet tom barely had time to think as Halfpaw dashed to his side, only to lash out a paw and strike a hit to his very own shoulder. Nightmoon hissed as if he were in agony, backing away from Halfpaw.
"Not bad, Halfpaw. Anticipation is key, and you played off mine. Looking like you were going for my back is genius, and a warriors most common ploy."
Nightmoon turned back to face the bald cat, hissing again before racing straight towards him. The russet tom did not leap or move to the side, he just kept right on barreling towards him. A front on attack, with no other intention. At least, no intention that Halfpaw would be able to detect as Nightmoon didn't even know himself what he was going to do.

Halfpaw felt a tiny glimmer of hope burning like an ember inside his heart at Nightmoon's words. Then he tensed as Nightmoon began running towards him. He wasn't sure what to do, but decided he better do something, and fast. He began to run towards the warrior, then dived to the side as he got closer, aiming a kick as he leapt.

Nightmoon continued his charge, wanting to see how Halfpaw held up to the fear of the battle. He was deeply impressed with the apprentice charged him as well, the gap closing fast as they charged. Cats watched around them, their fur rising in fear that neither cat would stop and they would collide. Halfpaw again impressed the warrior when he leapt to the side. Nightmoon figured, that if the apprentice's mentor had taught him anything, that this would happen. Suddenly he stopped, rearing up onto his hind legs barely avoiding the kick. As he reared to his full height, Nightmoon outstretched and arm, ready for a 'final blow'.
"Good reaction with my charge. I could see the bravery in your eyes. Now try this!"
With all the force of his fall, Nightmoon began his descent, driving his large paw downward towards Halfpaw's shoulder. If the warrior had been fighting a real warrior with claws and teeth, he would be going for the throat talons born with pride. Of course, he couldn't kill Halfpaw. He just couldn't bring himself to do it. For many reason, actually, but one stood out.
He wanted to see the one-eyed, bald apprentice succeed.

(Okeedokee) Halfpaw landed, slightly disappointed that his kick had missed, but quickly regained himself and looked up to see Nightmoon descending towards him. Halfpaw knew he couldn't waste a second, so he just did what his extinct told him; he dived underneath Nightmoon, kicking upwards with his hind legs as he did so, hoping he had reacted fast enough to get out of the way.

Nightmoon felt his paw connect with nothing but air as the apprentice came running at him, kicking up with his hind paws. The warrior let out air and began gasping. He backed fell to the side, beginning to crawl away like he couldn't breath, pretending to feel sick to the core. Of course, this was acting, he was going to teach Halfpaw something all warriors should learn. He stopped, forcing a strong cough from his through, kneading the earth with his claws. Some of the other cats were worrying to about his condition, but none would actually say it.
If Halfpaw had been bigger, there was a possibility that he could have caused some damage, but he was still young. Nothing was wrong, but he was going to lure him into wondering if he had hurt his Clanmate...hopefully.

Halfpaw landed, slightly clumsily, out of harms way. He turned round and saw Nightmoon coughing and gasping. He blinked a couple of times, taking a step towards the warrior. "Nightmoon?" He mewed, tilting his head to one side. He couldn't have really hurt the tom, could he? He was just an apprentice! He stood and waited, slightly concerned.

The moment Nightmoon heard Halfpaw call his name, he turned on the apprentice, attempting to grab the bald tom by the scruff and carry him around like a kit triumphantly. The warrior hadn't been hurt, but it was probably rather nice to think that the apprentice had. Some of the other cats who knew Nightmoon better were purring in amusement, while others were grumbling that they had actually believed the warrior.
If he had the apprentice in his mouth, he took a moment to set it down, purring in his own victory. There was a lesson to be learned here.

Halfpaw yowled as Nightmoon made a grab at him, and tried to leap away, but felt the tom's mouth close on his scruff. He was carried around helplessly for a while, then started trying to get Nightmoon to let go by swinging his paws wildly at his nose. Finally, he felt his paws reach the ground again, and he stood for a little while, his few patches of fur bristling. Then he shook himself, and stuck his pink tongue out at Nightmoon playfully.

Stripedfeather chose that moment to walk on by. She stopped. You two are so immature. She stuck her tongue out at them, before carrying on to the Fresh-Kill pile, and picked out a rabbit. She stuck her teeth into it and dragged it over to where Halfpaw and Nightmoon were standing. She dropped it on the ground and crouched beside it. Carry on, She meowed, before digging into her food.

Nightmoon chose, at the very moment that Stripedfeather walked in, to stick his tongue out at the apprentice with not a care what so ever. When she spoke, his tongue was still hanging out of his muzzle, like a pink surface that wanted to be smacked. He watched her, fur tingling with the sensation of feeling more apart of something then he knew. Finally, he broke out of his stupor.
"There was a method to my madness Halfpaw. Never show sympathy for another cat. What if I had been a EclipseClan warrior? Would you have stopped fighting to check to see if I was alright? Mercy is one thing, and sympathy is entirely another. Remember that. Now, what would you do if a warrior were trying to jump over you?"

Halfpaw looked up as Stripedfeather spoke. "Hello Stripedfeather." He mewed, feeling slightly embarressed. Then he turned back to Nightmoon. He blinked. "If they tried to jump over me?" he paused for a second, then spoke again. "Um...I'd....rear up and try and claw it's belly. I think..." he mewed uncertainly, shuffling his paws slightly.

Stripedfeather laughed. No need to get all serious just 'cause a lady's around. She laughed, before cocking her head to the side and watching them. A leaf blew by her nose, and unconciously, she threw a paw out and caught the leaf between her paw and the ground. Smiling triumphantly, she looked up, only to let the leaf go in embarrassment.

Nightmoon turned to look at Stripedfeather, with less calculating eyes then what he might stare with normally. When the leaf was trapped beneath her paw, he saw only the grace that she had caught it with, and before she could see, he averted his eyes back to Halfpaw.
"Seriousness? Maybe we are just having a bit of fun, Stripedfeather, but I wouldn't mind to let the apprentice learn some tricks. Halfpaw...jump over me."
The large russet tom crouched down as if he were getting ready to pounce, waiting on Halfpaw to do as he was told.

Halfpaw watched Stripedfeather trap the leaf with her paw, and smiled slightly, then looked away like he hadn't noticed her do it. He looked up as Nightmoon spoke. Halfpaw wrinkled his muzzle and blinked. "Um..ok then." He meowed, blinking. Then he crouched, tensing his muscles, and leapt over Nightmoon, his small pink and white limbs spread, and his bald tail waving behind him.
